  • Christina Hendricks Replaced by Carla Gugino in Showtime Comedy Pilot

Christina Hendricks is out and Carla Gugino is in–at least according to Showtime. The network has replaced Hendricks with Gugino in Roadies as part of a recasting.

None of this was done to diss Christina Hendricks, however. She wanted out. The recasting has now made it possible for her to accept the lead role in a new SundanceTV project called Hap and Leonard.

Christina Hendricks played the role of Shelli in Showtime’s Roadies. She was a band’s production manager. The revamped role finds Carla Gugino portraying “a world-class multitasker, passionate music fan and tireless work partner to the band’s tour manager Bill,” who is played by Luke Wilson.

In Hap and Leonard, Hendricks will play martial arts expert Hap Collins’s ex-wife Trudy. Trudy resurfaces after two years with a proposition Hap (played by The Following’s James Purefoy) simply can’t passed up. The show is said to offer a side-eyed look into race, class and friendship.

Christina Hendricks is, of course, best known for her role as Joan Holloway on AMC’s Mad Men. She was named Esquire’s Sexiest Woman in the World back in 2010, and many believe she still deserves the role today.

Currently appearing on Comedy Central in Another Period, she is said to be hilarious in the American period sitcom.

Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) and Jason Ritter are just two of the all-star cast working alongside Christina Hendricks in Another Period.

In addition to her TV roles, Christina Hendricks has appeared in Lost River, God’s Pocket, and Dark Places alongside Charlize Theron. She will appear in The Neon Demon in 2016.

  • Kevin Bacon Goes ‘Footloose’ for Fallon

Kevin Bacon kicked off his Sunday shoes and brought Footloose back to life for Jimmy Fallon and his audience on The Tonight Show last week. Thirty years after the film hit theaters, the 55-year-old still has those famous moves.

Fallon started off the show by reading a proclamation stating dancing was deemed illegal on The Tonight Show. The cameras cut to The Following star in his dressing room, where he agonized–a la Footloose–over whether or not to dance.

“Dancing is illegal?” the actor said, fuming. “Jump back – this is The Tonight Show. There has to be dancing.”

Following a series of gyrations and dubbed feats of gravity defying acrobatics, Bacon turned up dressed in Footloose attire and–along with office staff from backstage–sauntered on to The Tonight Show stage dancing. Jimmy Fallon tore up the proclamation, and reinstated the right to dance on the show.

Kevin Bacon has clearly still got it at 55. Even though a stunt double catapulted across the stage earlier in the performance, Bacon’s dance moves are hard to beat. Being 55 has a few caveats, however, as the actor discovered and shared with his Twitter followers the day after his Tonight Show appearance.

Jimmy Fallon shared his love via Twitter.

Did you catch Kevin Bacon’s Footloose revival on The Tonight Show last week? If not, it’s well worth finding the show online at NBC.com and watching it in its entirety. A warning, however, if you do watch. Kevin Bacon puts 55-year-olds to shame–but he will inspire some definite toe tapping.

  • Kevin Bacon: Apology Issued For Spoiler Post

[Author’s Note: This post contains the same spoilers Bacon has apologized for]

Along with the instant, worldwide capabilities of the web has come the dreaded accidental spoiler. In the past, fans of a TV series would have to actively search for spoilers, but now every Tweet or blog post brings with it the risk of having the latest twists ruined.

This week, actor Kevin Bacon demonstrated this new reality perfectly, while also demonstrating why localized, staggered release schedules for content will only become more problematic as more of the world becomes connected.

Bacon currently stars in the Fox network TV show The Following, a drama that follows an ex-FBI agent named Ryan Hardy as he helps his colleagues catch serial killers. In the latest episode, which aired in the U.S. on April 8, it is revealed that Hardy himself may be a killer.

The twist surprised fans, and Bacon retweeted one fan’s surprise to his Twitter page:

Unfortunately, fans of the show in some countries that aren’t the U.S. haven’t gotten the chance to watch that episode yet. They immediately let Bacon know he had screwed up, in the polite way that angry people on the internet normally do.

Bacon has now issued an apology, which in includes a short Vine video in which the actor issues a repeated mea culpa:

  • Kevin Bacon On Subway Rides: Why He Really Does It

Kevin Bacon has got to be one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, due in part to his long career–which began in 1978 with “Animal House”–and the sometimes small but memorable roles he’s taken in unexpected films and shows. Plus, he has that whole Six Degrees game named after him.

But Bacon–who is set to have a big year after taking mostly smaller parts since 2011–says that although fame can be a double-edged sword, he does still get a thrill when he’s recognized. In fact, it’s one of the reasons he still takes public transportation.

The 54-year old actor and musician admitted recently that he had a disguise made up in order to be able to go out in public without being harassed by photographers, but it didn’t turn out the way he expected it to.

“I had a prosthetic disguise made, because I wanted to see what it would be like not to be recognized. I didn’t like it very much – no one was nice to me. People didn’t bother me, but they also looked right through me,” he said.

Of course, the train is the fastest way to get around New York, so we can’t fault him there.

Bacon’s new hit show, “The Following”, airs on Fox and is getting good reviews so far. The story follows a disgraced FBI agent on a strange and bloody journey orchestrated by a serial killer and his groupies.

  • Kevin Bacon: “Chemistry Class” Includes Making Out

Kevin Bacon, who stars in the new Fox thriller “The Following”, reportedly has quite a bit of chemistry with his male co-star, James Purefoy. In fact, a reporter at a press conference recently noted how well the duo works together and said, “I just want to see them kiss”. And Bacon, never missing a beat, leaned over and planted a hearty smack on Purefoy’s cheek.

“Rule nothing in, rule nothing out,” Purefoy said.

The two are drumming up media attention for their new show, which follows Bacon as he tries to track down a sadistic serial killer obsessed with Edgar Allen Poe. The show, which was written by Kevin Williamson of “Scream” fame, had some unfortunate timing when it debuted right after the grisly Sandy Hook shootings. Network producers pulled several ads for the show in an effort to be sensitive, meaning it didn’t get the push they originally wanted.

It seems to be doing well in early reviews regardless, and Bacon says the show fits right in to the things he chooses to watch on his own downtime now.

“I used to be the guy who only had eyes for basketball and ’60 Minutes’ when it came to TV,” he said. “Now, I’m the guy sitting down to watch an entire season of ‘The Wire’ or ‘Six Feet Under’ and obsessed with ‘Dexter’ week after week.”

“The Following” premieres on January 21st.
