  • Michelle Pfeiffer Says Robert De Niro Is Influential

During Michelle Pfeiffer’s most recent film, The Family, she got to co-star alongside Robert De Niro, who she said had a great influence on the set.

”He’s a classic example of someone who’s iconic and effortlessly puts actors at ease the moment you meet him,” Pfeiffer said. “You just show up to the set and you’re part of a team and working together and supporting each other, and if everybody shows up with that attitude then everybody has a great time and the work is better as well.”

While Pfeiffer says that De Niro was the greatest influence, another The Family co-star, Dianna Agron, says that both Pfeiffer and De Niro had positive impacts during their time on set.

”Everybody wants to do a good job and you want to make it believable so that involves speaking to each other, and not just in the scene because that would be really awkward!’ Agron continued, “‘I have heard of instances where people are asked not to talk to people, look them in the eye, or not wear purple, and other things like that.”

Pfeiffer has always admired De Niro and even confessed to him that she auditioned for his 1980 film, Raging Bull. “I actually auditioned for Raging Bull, that was when I very first met you…I always dreamed of working with you [De Niro], so I was just very excited.”

  • Michelle Pfeiffer Used to be in a Cult

She thought they were personal trainers.

Young, beautiful, naive actress arrives in Hollywood and gets lured into a cult. TV Movie of the Week? A film coming to an area theater near you? It certainly could be. It’s also the story of blonde knockout Michelle Pfeiffer. It seems that when the 55-year-old actress first arrived in Hollywood at the tender age of 20, she found herself caught up with a couple who believed in “Breatharianism” which is the ability to survive without the staples of water and food. Instead, the idea is that sunlight can provide all the necessities for human life.

The Fabulous Baker Boys and Scarface actress was out promoting her new film The Family when she told Britain’s The Sunday Telegraph how she wound up with this group that could be defined as a cult. “They were very controlling. I wasn’t living with them but I was there a lot and they were always telling me I needed to come more. I had to pay for all the time I was there, so it was financially very draining.”

Although her marriage to actor Peter Horton, Thirtysomething, did not work out. The couple split in 1988. Horton’s role in a film about the Reverend Sun Myung Moon and his Unification Church nicknamed “The Moonies,” helped Pfeiffer in determining that Breatharianism looked like a cult and that she should get out as soon as possible. Pfeiffer said, “We were talking with an ex-Moonie and he was describing the psychological manipulation and I just clicked.”

Apparently, Breatharianism is still around today. In fact, they have their own Facebook page. The site defines a person who is Breatharian as “someone who taps into multiple energy and food sources other than the regular food the world knows.”

  • De Niro and Pfeiffer Discuss New Movie

De Niro and Pfeiffer Discuss New Movie

No strangers to mafia/gangster movies, actor Robert De Niro (Taxi Driver, The Godfather Part II, Goodfellas) and actress Michelle Pfeiffer (Scarface) got together for an interview on Fox411 to discuss their upcoming movie “The Family”. “The Family” was produced by Martin Scorsese and stars De Niro as an ex-crime boss of the Mafia (a role that De Niro has made his own many times) along with his family: wife (Michelle Pfeiffer), son (John D’Leo), and daughter (Dianna Agron). De Niro plays a character alias known as Fred Blake, who is really the former boss turned confidential informant Giovanni Manzoni. Manzoni and his family are placed in a small French community as a part of a witness protection program. From then on the Manzonis are known as the Blakes and the story discusses the mishaps associated with the new adjustments in the new environment.

In the interview on Fox411, Pfeiffer decided to expose a secret that De Niro had never known. Pfeiffer said to De Niro: “I actually auditioned for “Raging Bull”, that was when I very first met you…I always dreamed of working with [you (De Niro)], so I was just very excited.” Of course, Pfeiffer didn’t get the part which would end up being played by Cathy Moriarty. “Raging Bull” was filmed in 1980 and De Niro had been completely unaware of Pfeiffer’s audition, but was flattered that she had expressed such a desire to work with him.

Also starring in the film alongside the protagonist, Mr. Blake, is Tommy Lee Jones starring as ‘Agent Stansfield’. ‘Agent Stansfield’ is assigned to the Blake family case and is responsible for advising, watching over, and their location). With this legendary trio of film, “The Family” is expected to be one of the most promising comedies of the season.

  • Michelle Pfeiffer Tells Robert De Niro Secret

Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro are co-starring in their new film, “The Family”. This is the first movie that the two have ever starred in together, but it is not the first time that they have worked together.

Pfeiffer admitted a secret to De Niro, telling him that she auditioned for his 1980 classic, “Raging Bull”, and was so excited to get to meet him.

“That was when I very first met you,” Pfeiffer told De Niro. “Did I ever tell you that? It was my very first interview ever … never thinking I would get the part, which of course I didn’t. I had always dreamed of working with him, and so I was just very excited.”

After learning the new information from Pfeiffer, De Niro was somewhat speechless, only saying: “Really? Oh, wow.”

“The Family” is about an ex-mobster (De Niro) and his wife (Pfeiffer) who are living in the witness protection program. De Niro discusses why the mobster movies are so popular.

“It’s like the Westerns. It’s part of American folklore,” he said. “Gangster movies, they go outside the limits the normal limits parameters of everyday living society so that makes them more interesting to watch and if you see it done in a real way it’s very interesting. It can also be done in more of a fantasy way, another way of doing it.”

“The Family” opened in theaters on Friday, August 13.

  • Robert De Niro Stars in “The Family”, In Theaters Today

If there’s anything Robert De Niro has a knack for, it’s bringing the Mafia world to life on the big screen. With memorable films like “Good Fellas” and “The God Father”, De Niro has an impeccable reputation of portraying the brash, callous Italian mobster. Now, he’s made his way back to theaters with “The Family”.

According to ABC News, the Luc Besson-directed film, centers around the Manzoni family. When Giovanni Manzoni (De Niro) snitches on a few of his mob friends, he becomes an exiled entity and a target within the mafia, which places his family in imminent danger. As a result of his confessions, the family is placed in the Witness Protection Program, abruptly uprooted, and relocated to Normandy, France. The objective is to lay low, and that just happens to be the crux of the problem. Introversion is not a trait that runs in the Manzoni family. So remaining unseen and unheard is nearly impossible, which is how all hell breaks loose.

The film has been coined as a dark comedy, with De Niro reincarnating his ever-popular, ‘Mr. Focker’ persona, fusing it with his signature, cynical nature as a mobster. The quick-wit banter of the film puts a fresh new spin on big screen Mafia life.

According to Today, De Niro stars alongside Michelle Pfeiffer in “The Family”, which only adds even more anticipation, given their on-screen reputation to deliver laudably. “The Family” opens in theaters nationwide, today Friday Sept. 13.
