  • Cheater: Jillian Michaels Gives Team Caffeine Supplement

“The Biggest Loser” fans were shocked by Tuesday night’s episode. It turned out that fitness coach Jillian Michaels broke house rules by giving caffeine supplements to her team. It now seems that Jillian will be the biggest loser after all.  This unprecedented breaching of the house rules led to the return of the famed former American Idol winner, Ruben Studdard.  The American idol had been eliminated from the show last week for failing to lose the required minimum weight.

Jillian’s actions could be damaging to her reputation and the integrity of the show. However, she insisted that there was nothing wrong with issuing the caffeine supplements because they are completely safe, although she said she was sorry that her team members would have to suffer because of her actions. “I stand by my opinion. A caffeine supplement is significantly healthier than unlimited amounts of coffee,” she said. “My only regret is that my team, they’re the ones suffering the consequences of my professional opinion.” As a result of her action, the team will suffer a 4 pound penalty.

    Here’s what happened.

Interestingly, there is a conspiracy theory going around suggesting that the mistake was a deliberate one, devised to bring back Ruben in order to boost the show’s ratings. The organizers of the show have not made any comment regarding the conspiracy claims.

Jillian herself has added fuel to the conspiracy claims when she responded with “you’re spot on,” to a tweet that suggested Jillian was being used to bring a famous contestant back. However, many argue that the response was a sarcastic response considering that her reputation as a fitness coach is at stake. Nothing had been said publicly about the cheating dilemma until the weigh-in began, when the host, Alison Sweeney announced: “Last week Jillian broke the rules and gave caffeine supplements to each member of her team without a doctor’s permission. What will happen next week?

Jillian Michaels Caught Cheating on “Biggest Loser”

Anyone who has ever watched an episode of The Biggest Loser knows that Jillian Michaels is one hardcore woman. She doesn’t remotely mince words and is well known for her abrasive personality. That mostly works for Jillian, though, since she is usually able to get results. Unfortunately for Jillian and the people on her team, her way of doing things got them in trouble on last night’s episode of The Biggest Loser. Not only did this lead to them being at a disadvantage at the weigh-in, this is also bringing back a contestant that was kicked off last week.

It was determined that Jillian Michaels cheated. She gave her team caffeine supplements, which apparently is a big no-no. While that certainly stinks for her team, on the plus side, fan favorite and former American Idol contestant Ruben Studdard will be returning to the show.

“Before you all step on the scale, there is something important that needs to be addressed,” host Alison Sweeney said. “Last week, Jillian broke the rules and gave caffeine supplements to each member of her team without doctor’s permission. Because of this rules violation, Jillian has been penalized and the white team will receive a four pound disadvantage on the scale tonight.”

Whoops. So, is the feisty fitness trainer sorry that she gave her team members the caffeine supplement without getting permission from a doctor? If you guessed “not so much,” you’d be right.

“I stand by my opinion. A caffeine supplement is significantly healthier than unlimited amounts of coffee,” Jillian said. “My only regret is that my team, they’re the ones suffering the consequences of my professional opinion.” While Jillian does have a point (even if it does raise more concerns about whether The Biggest Loser contestants are dropping their pounds in a healthy way), she should have known that the decision wasn’t her call.

The Biggest Loser fans in the Twitterverse are pretty much divided on whether they think what Jillian Michaels did constitutes cheating. What do you think? Add your opinions below.

  • Ruben Studdard Coming Back To “Biggest Loser”

Ruben Studdard will be getting a second chance at achieving his goal weight after it was revealed that trainer Jillian Michaels broke some rules last week; as part of her punishment, the Red Team will welcome back Studdard and the Blue Team will once again have immunity.

Studdard was eliminated last week even though he lost a total of 39 pounds during his time on the ranch; unfortunately, his loss wasn’t enough to keep his team from sinking after a slow week, and he was given the boot.

“I worked really, really hard this week,” he said on the show. “I swam extra. I walked extra….This experience is one of the toughest things I’ve been through. I’ve been through two-a-day football practices; I’ve been through the ‘American Idol’ experience; I’ve been through a lot of mentally and physically challenging experiences in my life. And this, you know, ranks right up there at the top.”

The “American Idol” alum has been keeping up with his training at home, however, and will be returning to the Biggest Loser ranch 65 pounds lighter than he left it, which means the Red Team will have that much more of an advantage.

Michaels didn’t apologize for her actions–giving her team a caffeine supplement–but said that she regrets putting her team in jeopardy.

“I stand by my opinion: a caffeine supplement is significantly healthier than unlimited amounts of coffee,” she said. “My only regret is that my team … they’re the ones suffering the consequences of my professional opinion.”

  • Ruben Studdard Axed from ‘The Biggest Loser’

You gotta give Ruben Studdard some credit even though he didn’t turn out to be the biggest loser after managing to shed only 5 pounds for a whole week’s work.

(image)Ruben Studdard’s elimination from NBC’s reality competition belied the hard work the American Idol alum has been putting in to stand a chance to at least remain in the competition. “I worked really, really hard this week,” he said during the weigh-in. “I swam extra. I walked extra.”

Studdard needed to lose 11 pounds to save his team. But the scales indicated that he only lost about 5 pounds. However, all is not lost for the 35 year old singer because he goes home with the prize of having lost 39 pounds in four weeks.

This was a sad moments for the fans and the organizers of the show as well because Studdard was the fans’ favorite in season 15. As a matter of fact, Ruben had been extended a golden ticket of sorts when producers of the show had approached him and invited him to join the show, unlike what normally happens with thousands of people who compete for the chance to join the ranch each year. The balladeer winner of American Idol had said that he jumped at the opportunity because he wanted to take his singing career to the next level.

What everyone is now asking is what went wrong because Ruben had started on a high note, shedding about 21 pounds in his first weigh in. What caused the dramatic decline of progress is a mystery. Even his trainer is asking the same question. “Everything I asked you to do, you did it,” said the trainer.

Despite the setback, Studdard vowed to continue with his diet and exercise program. Studdard may have been ruled out of the $250,000 grand prize but he still has a chance to try the at-home prize of $100,000.

  • Ruben Studdard Leaves “The Biggest Loser” Ranch

Sadly, the “The Biggest Loser” ranch said goodbye to “American Idol’s” season two winner, Ruben Studdard, last night after he failed to lose the 11 pounds he needed to stay in the competition.

“I worked really, really hard this week,” he said during his weigh in. “I swam extra. I walked extra.” His coach agreed with him saying, “Everything I asked you to do, you did it.” Ruben weighed 462 pounds when he first started his journey on the show, and at his last weigh in, he had lost a total of 39 pounds.

“This experience is one of the toughest things I’ve been through,” Ruben admitted. “I’ve been through two-a-day football practices; I’ve been through the ‘American Idol’ experience; I’ve been through a lot of mentally and physically challenging experiences in my life. And this, you know, ranks right up there at the top.”

Even though he is not eligible to win the $250,000 prize, Ruben says he will continue to work as hard as ever in hopes of winning the $100,000 prize. During the finale, contestants who have left the ranch are able to come back for a final weigh in for a chance at the next top prize.

“My goal coming to “The Biggest Loser” ranch was to leave here a changed person,” he said. “I think I reached that goal.” He also gives America a heads up saying, “America, my voice may be soulful, but the next time you see me, my body will be sexy.”

“I gave all I had this week, but it just wasn’t enough to keep me on the ranch,” Studdard wrote in his blog for Parade magazine. “I’m glad that I had the courage to come to the ranch and show the world that you’re never too far away to turn and go right. I may not be the Biggest Loser, but I am a champion!”

  • Ruben Studdard Kicked Off “Biggest Loser” Ranch

Ruben Studdard knew he had a hard road ahead of him when he first joined “The Biggest Loser” this season; at 462 pounds, the former “American Idol” winner was well aware of the challenges he would face during his time on the show. But he didn’t count on his teammates giving a poor show at weigh-in this week, and that’s what ultimately led to his demise.

Studdard needed to drop eleven pounds to save his team, but had only lost five after a week of hard work.

One of those personal challenges might have been his divorce in 2011, which he filed for right before his album Letters From Birmingham came out.

“I had the opportunity to be married to a wonderful person. And for some reason two good people couldn’t make a good thing work. But in life, the one thing that I love about being an artist is that you can sometimes use the pain that you go through to make beautiful things,” he said.

Of course, Studdard will continue working out at home in order to be a contender for a cash prize when she show is over, but for now, he says he’s glad for his time at the ranch.

“My goal coming to ‘The Biggest Loser’ ranch was to leave here a changed person,” he said. “I think I reached that goal.”

  • Ruben Studdard Asks America to Join Him #BL15

Ruben Studdard got his first weigh-in on Season 15 of The Biggest Loser Tuesday evening, celebrating a deficit of 21 pounds. “I didn’t get any Hollywood treatment in this gym,” Studdard said.

Studdard was open about his health in advance of the show with a goal of bringing America along with him again, not to the American Idol winner’s circle but rather to the gym. The 35-year-old revealed problems with high blood pressure and a diagnosis as a borderline diabetic at a starting 462 pounds. “I’ve been a big guy my whole life. This is something I have dealt with since I was 8, or 9, or 10 years old,” Studdard said in an early September LA Times interview. “It’s time to do something about it.”

The Velvet Teddy Bear is the celeb draw on this season of The Biggest Loser, that is until the First Lady makes her second appearance on the reality show. Michelle Obama returns to the NBC weight-loss competition this November in support of a Partnership for a Healthier America campaign focused on increasing Americans’ consumption of water. Brita is sponsoring the campaign and the show. Obama made her debut on the show in April 2012 to promote her Let’s Move campaign by joining a White House workout with the contestants.

Pounds may not have been the only thing lost this season, their demographic numbers are down 27 percent from last season’s January premiere, says Nielsen. However, the show gained 10 percent in viewers, grabbing 7 million Tuesday night.

The early controversy over this running of the show seems to be Studdard and his refusal to shed the “taco meat” (translation, his body hair). It seems at a minimum, trainer Jillian Michaels would vote for it to be gone. Who knows, Teddy Bear, that alone could weigh a couple pounds.

  • Ruben Studdard Sheds The Pounds On “Biggest Loser”

Ruben Studdard entered the Biggest Loser Ranch as the contestant with the most weight to lose; at 462 pounds, he knew going in that he had a long, hard road ahead of him. But during the premiere episode of season 15 this week, Studdard showed the trainers that he’s committed to a healthy lifestyle and dropped an incredible 21 pounds.

“I have to get up every day and give myself the two hours that I need to keep myself together before I even get into any music stuff, and that’s just going to have to be how I do it,” Studdard said before entering the competition.

The “American Idol” alum has seen some heartbreak over the past few years, going through a divorce that ultimately helped him creatively.

“I had the opportunity to be married to a wonderful person. And for some reason two good people couldn’t make a good thing work. But in life, the one thing that I love about being an artist is that you can sometimes use the pain that you go through to make beautiful things,” he said.

The new season of “The Biggest Loser” has a few twists, not the least of which is the addition of a “trainer save”–a way for the trainers to keep one of their team members in the event of a bad week–which helped a member of Jillian’s group, Craig. This season may be as interesting as any we’ve seen yet, with several contestants all working overtime to prove themselves. In fact, Craig lost the least amount of weight during the premiere episode but had dropped a whopping 13 pounds.

“Thirteen pounds sounds really good when you’re at home … ,” Craig said. “I was devastated …. I came in here thinking I would be the leader. But it turns out I was the weakest link.”

  • Ruben Studdard Enters Another Reality Competition

Ruben Studdard may be known for his second-season win on “American Idol”, but he’s about to become associated with a very different kind of reality competition: “The Biggest Loser”.

The 35-year old singer has released several albums since his time away from AI, but now he says he needs to focus on himself a bit. In the new season of the weight loss competition, Studdard is the heaviest contestant at 462 pounds.

“I have to get up every day and give myself the two hours that I need to keep myself together before I even get into any music stuff, and that’s just going to have to be how I do it,” he said.

Studdard has been through quite a bit in the past few years; in late 2011, he filed for divorce from wife Surata Zuri McCants, just a few months before the release of his album “Letters From Birmingham”. But the heartbreak may have helped him when it came time to be creative, he says.

“In life we all go through different situations that cause you to reflect,” he said. “I had the opportunity to be married to a wonderful person. And for some reason two good people couldn’t make a good thing work. But in life, the one thing that I love about being an artist is that you can sometimes use the pain that you go through to make beautiful things. And I think that’s what “June 28th” is really about.”

Studdard has plans for a sixth studio album right after his time on “The Biggest Loser” comes to an end. The show starts on October 8 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
