  • What If “The Avengers” Were Dinosaurs?

If you are anything like me, you have been asking your self one question these past few days. What if the Avengers were all dinosaurs? Well my friend, the wait is over!

The artists name is Teryll Whitlatch. He had this to say about making the awesome drawings:

“It was fun deciding what dinosaurs should be what characters. I ended up with an Ankylosaur as Iron Man (a no-brainer, as this animal is naturally armored), a Parasaurolophus as Captain America, just because I thought with that crest it would look really funny, a Triceratops as Thor, especially since when it grows up it is actually a Torosaurus, hence “Thor”-osaurus, and a T-rex as the Hulk so I could give it really muscularly odd little arms. It’s a breath of fresh air to do fan art, and any excuse to draw dinosaurs is a good one!”

Check out the awesome drawings below, and try really hard to choose your favorite!

  • New Avengers Clip: Thor and Ironman ‘Face Off’

Avengers promotions are coming on fast and furious as the May 4 release is rapidly approaching. The latest are full clips directly from the movie offered as exclusives to news organisations and late night talk shows. The latest (released today) is by far the best (one man’s opinion) and features a duel between Ironman and Thor.

The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Cobie Smulders and Samuel L. Jackson.

The clip, titled “The Face Off”, can also be viewed in iTunes by clicking here.

Here are all the clips released so far. If you’re pressed for time 1, 3, and 4 are the best. Just sayin.

Clip 1: Scarlett Johanson, er I mean Black Widow, escapes an impossible scenario and kicks some a**. Giggidy.

Clip 2: Featured on the Late Show with David Letterman when Cobie Smulders stopped by for an interview. Not much action, features Smulders’ character Maria Hill.

Clip 3: Tony Stark confronts Loki and tells him about the Avengers.

Clip 4: Thor and Captain America battle Loki’s army.

Clip 5: Nick Fury and Loki battle with words.

  • The Avengers Porn Parody Is Happening, Stars Chyna

Why must everything wonderful, wholesome, and good in this world be turned into a porno? Rule 34, I know. I probably wouldn’t be so upset about this if it didn’t have Chyna in it.

Okay, I’m not exactly upset about it, but I am weary when it comes to porn parodies releasing at the same time as their mainstream-film counterparts. I mean, how will the porn even follow the story if they haven’t seen the real film yet?

Enough facetiousness. In how-did-I-not-already-know-this-news, a porn version of The Avengers is set to release on DVD the same day that The Avengers hits the theaters worldwide. It’s called The Avengers XXX: A Porn Parody, and it’s currently in post-production from Vivid Entertainment.

The director, Axel Braun, is no stranger to superhero porn parodies. He helmed 2011’s Spider-Man XXX as well as Superman XXX. Also, 2010’s Batman XXX and Elvis XXX (Elvis was a superhero to some, man).

From a release (taken from XBIZ):

Directed by Braun from a script he wrote with Mark Logan, “The Avengers XXX” finds S.H.I.E.L.D. head Nick Fury (Lexington Steele) enlisting the help of superheroes such as Iron Man (Dale DaBone), Spider-Man (Xander Corvus), and the Black Widow (Brooklyn Lee) to bring down a rampaging Hulk (Jordan Lane) in Las Vegas.

The big-budget spoof also stars Jenna Presley as Spider-Woman, Phoenix Marie as Sharon Carter, Lexi Swallow as Mr. Marvel, Danni Cole as Scarlet Witch, Eric Masterson as Hawkeye, Brendon Miller as Thor and former WWF star Chyna as The She-Hulk.

Check out the (surprisingly) SFW trailer below:

  • New Avengers Clip Promises Two Things: The Hulk and Smashing

Unfortunately, all the YouTube uploads of this particular clip are in standard definition, but that should not stop you from enjoying it, even if it isn’t in glorious high-def. Besides successfully upping the hype level surrounding this already-off-the-charts movie, the new TV clip gives a glimpse of something, well, incredible.

Something incredible, something big, and something green, all rolled into one. Yes, it’s pretty clear my level of excitement is tied directly to The Hulk’s appearance. The more, the better, as far as I’m concerned, and while this new 30-plus second clip isn’t full of new stuff, it does contain one or two moments that ensure my attendance:

Captain America telling Hulk to smash and the subsequent reaction, which shows the Hulk smiling at his newfound freedom to smash and destroy. Take a look:

    (image)

Which is then followed by this awesome sequence, something we’ve already discussed:

    (image)

We’re not the only one feeling the hype, either. The following tweet seems to capture the mood of comic book/movie geeks everywhere:

OMG THE NW AVENGERS SPOT IS FUCKING AMAZING!!! TONS OF TONY/STEVE MOMENTS, LIKE: Steve: “Suit up.” Tony:… http://t.co/7pSxStWn(image) 15 hours ago via Tumblr ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Apparently, the “Suit Up” clip debuted on Marvel’s Avengers Alliance Facebook page, although, actually finding it might just be an exercise in futility, hence the YouTube version leading this article.

  • “Avengers” Clip Shows Black Widow Throwing Down

“The Avengers” is slated to hit theaters 1 month from today, on May 4th. If you were hoping to make it until then without seeing anymore trailers or plot points you may want to avert your eyes, as we have 43 seconds of Black Widow kicking ass.

In the clip, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow making a phone call to Agent Coulson while tied to a chair. The start of the clip is slow, but once she puts him hold it gets… uh, let’s just say pretty impressive. It should be noted that the clip may be more impressive to men, just saying. Check out the clip below:

If for some reason you’ve never heard of “The Avengers”, below is the official synopsis for the film:

When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

As we said above, The Avengers will be in theaters on May 4th.

  • New Avengers Spot Helps Increase the Hype

New Avengers Spot Helps Increase the Hype

May the Fourth is a little over a month away, and the hype train for The Avengers is building to a runaway pace. The latest footage is courtesy of a TV spot, and while it only gives us 32 seconds of footage, it’s enough to build the hype surrounding the movie to even higher levels, at least for me. Of course, when you feature the Hulk so prominently, the fanboy in me can’t help but jump for joy.

Speaking of, WWTDD has an awesome animated gif of the green behemoth in action, which helps me believe the hype and excitment is not being misplaced:

    (image)

If that doesn’t get wake your inner geek up, there may not be any hope for you.

After seeing that, it’s even more incentive to take part in Facebook’s promotion for The Avengers, if only for the chance to see the movie a little earlier. Over at SlashFilm, they’ve posted a “60 things We Learned On The Set of The Avengers primer, which sheds some light concerning which storyline Joss Whedon will be focusing on:

    – Even though The Avengers is a sequel to all the Marvel movies that have come before it, they made sure to give every character “an introduction in this movie as if they never had a movie before.”

    – The story begins from SHIELD’s point of view. As you know, SHIELD an organization in charge of the safety of the world. An event occurs which causes problems for Nick Fury, and he must try to get this group to come together and fight the threat.

    – Thor is already back on Earth, and how he got back is explained

    – Thor’s brother Loki is involved in the Chaos and Thor attempts to be hands on in the solution. Thor believes that Loki is still redeemable, while others do not.

    – Hawkeye is on his own mission for most of this story.

    – Bruce Banner has gotten past what happened in the previous Hulk movies. He has not transformed into The Hulk in years and SHIELD isn’t after him to be the Hulk. SHIELD has him aboard the Hellicarrier helping with some important lab work — they need Banner for his Gamma expertise.

    – Captain America is struggling with the change in society, morals, values, and also technology.

    – Black Widow is on another mission when we find her.

    The wait is almost over.

Facebook Fans Get Chance To See “The Avengers” Early

It looks as though social media has really taken hold when a major studio has announced something like this! Disney’s Marvel Studios announced today that it will offer advance screenings around the world in cities where “The Avengers” has gained the most fans on Facebook.

Early screenings are being held in Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Houston and Miami on April 14. They studio will also choose 5 more cities around the world to have an early screening based on how many Facebook fans they get! • Avengers Contests Give Facebook Fans Advance Screenings

Some lucky moviegoers will have the chance to see The Avengers a little bit early, as Marvel is running a couple of contests via Facebook.

The first contest comes to you from Marvel and Harley-Davidson, who are giving away two tickets to the official world premiere event in Hollywood. The prize doesn’t included accommodations or travel, but will receive “goodwill” if they make it to Hollywood on a Harley-Davidson. The contest was announced on Facebook, and fans can enter here.

    (image)

While this contest is merely being promoted on Facebook, another contest announced on Monday involves actual Facebook likes. Disney’s Marvel Studios say that a few lucky cities will be getting advance screenings of the film, about three weeks before the nationwide release on May 4th.

Cities like L.A., NYC, Chicago, Miami, and Houston are already getting advance screenings, but there will be another five U.S. cities that will get the film early. That’s where Facebook comes into play. The amount of Facebook fans from participating cities will be the determining factor in where the advance screenings land.

The Avengers is set to be one of (if not the) biggest blockbuster of the summer (The Dark Knight Rises may argue). Check out the trailer below:

  • The Avengers Get The “Sweded” Trailer Treatment

The term “Sweded” means the summarized recreation of popular pop-culture films/trailers using limited budgets and a camcorder. The process is called sweding. Upon completion the film/trailer has been Sweded.

We first heard of “sweding” in Michel Gondry’s film BE KIND REWIND. The film, which stars Mos Def and Jack Black, focuses two men who accidentally erase all the video’s in their rental store and are forced to recreate all the movies on their own. These versions become very popular with the customers, who are told they take longer to arrive, and cost more, because they come from Sweden. Hence, the films being referred to as “Sweded”.

A couple of guys who call themselves “Dumb Drum” have been making Sweded trailers… and they’re quite good at it. Their latest creation is the full Avengers trailer, which you can check out below. The special effects are non-existent, the sound effects are all homemade, and all-in-all it’s done pitch perfect.

Here is the first sweded Avengers trailer, which hit the Internet back in October

Sure, the trailer looks a bit silly… but’s it rather well done, for what it is. Check out the trailer below, as it shows the official trailer on the left accompanied by the sweded version on the left. It’s been meticulously done with every scene being recreated.

Here is the sweded Dark Knight Rises trailer:

  • Japanese Trailer For The Avengers Is More Revealing

May is going to be a busy month for geeks everywhere. First, the news of Diablo III’s launch date hits (May 15) and now there’s a “new” trailer for The Avengers movie out; this one, however, is aimed at Japanese audiences. While a good portion of the Japanese trailer features footage we’ve already seen before, there are some new scenes, which only help to increase the anticipation level.

And then there’s the narrator’s method of saying “The Avengers,” which alone makes the “new” trailer worth watching. I only wish I was that smooth and calm when delivering such an important title.

As Harry Knowles of AintItCool.com fame points out, perhaps the highlight of the Japanese trailer is the appearance of the S.H.E.I.L.D helicarrier. Watching it rise out of the ocean is exciting enough to prompt a search for early ticket sales. Unfortunately, these pre-purchases aren’t available yet. Who knows? Maybe the mega-success of The Hunger Games pre-sale will inspire Marvel to do the same.

Naturally, Twitter has some reactions to the new trailer because, well, it’s The Avengers:

  • The Avengers Trailer Gets 13.7 Million Views In 24 Hours

A couple days ago we covered the release of the second full-length trailer for The Avengers. The trailer was met with wild enthusiasm from fans who have been waiting to see the Avengers on the big screen for years. Many of these fans worried that Joss Whedon, who directed the film, would not be able to give Marvel’s heroes the big screen debut they deserved. While the trailer didn’t quite put all those fears to rest, it certainly gave the fans reason to be excited.

Avengers fans, though, aren’t the only ones with reason to be excited. Apparently the trailer, which hit the iTunes Trailers site first, set a record for the most views in 24 hours. An amazing 13.7 million people saw the trailer on the iTunes site, not to mention those who saw it on YouTube.

The Avengers stars Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Marvel Studios has been building toward this movie for years, with a series of movies featuring Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, and Captain America. The movie is set to open on May 4th.

And in case you missed it – and because it’s always worth another viewing – here’s the trailer again:

Were you one of the 13.7 million people who watched the trailer on iTunes? Will you be seeing the movie when it comes out in May? Let us know in the comments.

  • The Avengers, Spider-Man, And More Marvel Graphic Novels Come To iTunes

Listen up, comics fans – you can now get dozens of Marvel graphic novels on iTunes.

Marvel has just announced 80 titles that are now available through the iBooks app or by simply heading to iTunes.

Today, Marvel has entered a bold new era in digital comics. For the first time ever, classic stories—from the first appearance of the Avengers to the “death” of Captain America—will now be available for purchase on Apple’s iBookstore. With an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, Marvel fans across the world can now purchase over 80 graphic novels with fan-favorite characters like Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Wolverine, Spider-Man.

Not only that, but titles like Marvel Zombies, John Carter: World of Mars, Ender’s Game: Battle School, and X-Men: Second Coming also adorn the list of titles available at launch. Marvel says that they will be adding titles every week.

As a gift to fans, they are offering New Avengers Vol. 1: Breakout for free. “Fate has brought them together, and now Captain America wants to make it permanent! Who will take his hand and join the new Avengers?” You’re just going to have to read it to find out.

Marvel already has their own iPad app, but this move puts the longer graphic novels available for the masses through the iBookstore.

In other Avengers news, the second official trailer dropped today, and man does it look good. You should really go check it out…oh well, what the hell – let’s just watch it together:

  • The Second Avengers Trailer Is Online, and It’s Awesome

This morning, we joined in the tease for the second full-length trailer for The Avengers, and now that it’s live, the anticipation meter is now getting close to an “off the charts” level, at least for this writer.

The biggest fear surrounding The Avengers is, after four years of build up, coupled with multiple 2-plus hour movies that also served as primers for the movie about Marvel’s team supreme, could they pull it off? Would Joss Whedon be able to take all the potential the material offers and turn it into a blockbuster movie? While the jury is still out, and will remain so until the movie is available to the public, the trailers, especially the newest one, gives us plenty of reason to hope.

Or, as Geek Tyrant said, “The Avengers – New Badass Trailer Will Make You Cheer!” After watching The Hulk catch Iron Man in midair, I’m inclined to agree. Twitter does too:

  • The New Avengers Trailer Debuts Today

At 12 pm EST (9 am PST), Marvel Comic’s movie-making entity will be releasing another full-length trailer for the upcoming, highly anticipated The Avengers movie. It’s an interesting world we live in, one that’s powered by anticipation and desire to be apart of “the next great event.” This desire, in turn, is fueled almost solely by social media.

So like most buzz-creating entities worth their salt, Marvel took to the social media airwaves to spread the word about the upcoming trailer, and the response was quite generous. Over at Facebook, people responded with glee, joy, and a sense that the light at the end of the tunnel is finally getting closer — the wait for The Avengers building since the epilogue of 2008’s Iron Man movie.

    You know, this part:

Now that the trailers have started leaking out–The Avengers comes out on May 4th–the anticipation continues to grow at an exponential rate. People really want to see this movie. What else would explain over 50 retweets of a “hey, watch our trailer tomorrow” Twitter post?

If the 1-plus hour wait is too much for you to handle, here’s an extended version of the first Avengers trailer, the one that debuted during the Super Bowl:

With that in mind, the anticipation is completely understandable. The trailer will be viewable at iTunes. Any guesses on how long it takes to make it to YouTube?

  • The Extended Avengers Trailer Hits the Web

After teasing the crowd with 30 seconds of glorious movie footage, The Avengers teaser trailer that was shown during the Super Bowl, left those wanting more Avengers footage panting. However, if you were paying attention, there was a “Extended Look at Facebook.com/Avengers.” disclaimer following the teaser, and thanks to Marvel, the extended version of the teaser is now available; however, it still leaves this writer wanting more.

Of course, I’m just being greedy. With that in mind, the extra 30 seconds of the “extended look” makes all the difference in the world. First, here’s the Super Bowl preview:

Truth be told, seeing The Hulk at the end was enough for me, but, the additional 30 or so seconds only adds to the anticipation:

And with that, May 4 can’t get here soon enough. Twitter agrees:

Considering what 2012 as in store in the way of summer movies — The Avengers, Spider-Man, The Dark Knight Returns — which one is going to win the summer box office? As it stands, my money is still on the third Batman movie, although, The Avengers is going to pose a stern challenge.

Because of the emo/Twilight reboot approach the new Spider-Man movie is going for — all so Sony doesn’t lose the rights to the movie property — I don’t see it contended with the other two, but then again, considering the success of the Twilight series, people seem to like “woe is me” teenagers, especially when they are super-powered.

  • The Avengers Super Bowl Teaser Is One Intense 10 Seconds [VIDEO]

The Marvel Youtube channel has just posted a teaser clip from the Super Bowl spot for The Avengers, the Joss Whedon-helmed super superhero movie that’s sure to be one of the biggest hits of the summer.

It’s only a 10-second clip, but it surely packs a punch. You’ve got the Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Iron Man and even Scarlett Johansson’s beautiful self – and some major destruction. Check it out below:

The Avengers is definitely one of the most buzzed-about movies of the upcoming blockbuster season. When the initial Avenger’s trailer released, it broke the iTunes record for most downloaded trailer of all time.

The Avengers will release in 3D and IMAX on May 4th. If you choose to watch it in three dimensions, you’ll be able to watch it in style (with a slight fee). Fans choosing to pay an extra 5 bucks will be albe to don their very own custom 3D glasses modeled specifically for four different heroes: Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and Captain America.

  • The Avengers 3D Movie Features Custom Glasses Modeled After Your Favorite Characters

After the trailer was unveiled earlier in 2011, The Avengers has been a long awaited title. The trailer broke several records, including being a most downloaded clip at iTunes. Within all the hype of the trailer and the forthcoming title, the video game industry wanted to stick their two cents in with the release of an Avengers video game.

Now with the film even closer to unveiling, one source says the fans will be getting an awesome treat. For those 3D movie-goers, you will be able to pick from one of 4 special edition 3D glasses featuring such great franchises like Captain America, The Hulk, Thor and Iron Man.

To get the glasses, though, you’ll have to be willing to shell out an extra 5 bucks, which isn’t totally unreasonable for such a collector’s item. So if you want to go all out and “nerd it up”, you can opt for the collector’s glasses or go the cheap route and use the stock glasses given to you for the movie. Either way the movie is set to be a hit when it comes out in may of this year.

  • The Avengers Was Shot, In Part, With An iPhone

Who’s excited for The Avengers? The hype has kind of flown under my radar, but I must say, that’s a lot of superheroes. And when you think about it, all of these superhero films that have come out recently – Iron Man, Captain America, Thor – can be looked at as hype-machines for the big daddy, set to come out in May of 2012.

Would it surprise you to learn that parts of the film were shot using an iPhone? And some of those shots are even in the official trailer? That’s what the film’s cinematographer Seamus McGarvey said in a recent interview:

The beauty of photography or cinema is that you make every choice based on the content at hand. On The Avengers, I did a couple of shots on the iPhone and they are in the movie. In fact, they are in the trailer! I understand that sometimes there is no choice and you have to go for the cheapest option, but if you are limited for choice, you can still make poignant decisions that will effect the look of the film.

Let’s revisit the trailer. Can you spot the iPhone shots?

Since the iPhone 4S just dropped last Friday, it would mean that the shots that McGarvey speaks of were shot with an iPhone 4. That device had a 5 MP camera and was capable of 720p video.

The new iPhone 4S is being praised for its video capabilities. Not only are people impressed with the photos taken by the device, but people are pretty blown away by the quality of the videos it produces. The iPhone 4S can shoot 1080p full HD video.

When the trailer was released earlier this month, it broke an iTunes record for most downloaded trailer of all time.

The Avengers Trailer Hits the Internet

There are a lot of big name movies coming out next summer. The Dark Knight Rises and the Spider-Man reboot are just two of the bigger ones, although, I’m not sure there’s a movie with as much anticipation as The Avengers. Marvel has been building towards this film ever since the first Iron Man movie came out, and with the releases of Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, and Captain America, the buzz has been exponentially building.

It only helps the anticipation when the aforementioned movies, especially Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America, are essentially extended trailers The Avengers movie, which is scheduled for release in May of 2012. Speaking of previews, since I’m sure many of you have already seen the “extended trailers” masquerading as movies, how about a look at the actual official teaser trailer for The Avengers? Does that ramp up your curiosity meter? Are you still uncertain about whether to embrace The Avengers or not?

Take a look at the trailer and see how you feel:

I can’t help but feel a little skeptical because of the failure previous comic movies have had when the cram the screen with too many characters. I’m looking directly at you, Batman and Robin. That being said, it appears as if director Joss Whedon is taking the source material seriously and is working to deliver a movie that will appeal to both comic book fans and the general movie-going public alike.

Needless to say, Twitter has chimed in and shared its collective thoughts on The Avengers trailer, and judging by that, the buzz is pretty high:

I enjoyed that line as well.

Thoughts on the new trailer? Does it look like The Avengers will justify making at least previous three movies into extended trailers for next summer’s soon-to-be box office smash? Let us know what you think.
