‘The Voice’ Winner: Were You Surprised?

The Voice winner was crowned on Tuesday night with some fans no doubt in shock over who it turned out to be. Do note that if you haven’t yet watched Tuesday night’s episode via your DVR on a service like On Demand that the following content contains a spoiler.

Many fans believed Team Adam’s Christina Grimmie was a shoe-in for the title of The Voice. After all, she was the singer whose initial claim to fame was that of a YouTube sensation. It was highly anticipated that her fan base would allow her the necessary number of votes to surpass both Team Blake’s Jake Worthington and Team Usher’s Josh Kaufman. Clearly that was not the case on Tuesday night, however, as Christina Grimmie wound up the third place singer of the three finalists.

At that point many viewers were excited–not because Christina Grimmie wasn’t crowned The Voice–but because it was a complete toss up at that point as to which of the remaining gentlemen would win the competition.

Before the spoiler, let’s briefly recap the entire finale. The performances were spectacular, with all three finalists bringing back contestants from earlier in this season’s show. Big name performances included Tim McGraw, Ed Sheeran, Alabama, Robin Thicke, Coldplay, and more. Last season’s winner of The Voice–Tessanne Chin–also sang, belting out a tune in her sultry, strong voice that made her last season’s clear frontrunner long before she won the title.

Even though Christina Grimmie didn’t win the title of The Voice, she went on stage Tuesday night as a huge winner just the same. Among the high points of the early moments of the show was one in which Adam Levine told her he wanted to sign her to his own record label. She was shown backstage listening to his announcement.

Jake Worthington won the hearts of Americans for the umpteenth time during this season of The Voice when he announced he was going to give his Kia–a gift to the three finalists of The Voice–to his grandmother.

“Since she bought my first vehicle, this is my chance to give back to her,” he told Carson Daly.

So who is The Voice winner? It’s Josh Kaufman. His bluesy ballads and raspy falsettos won over fans enough to crown him The Voice winner. Congratulations to Josh and to Team Usher. For once in the history of The Voice, The Voice winner isn’t attached to Team Adam or Team Blake. Usher had fun sharing that fact with his Twitter followers.

Josh Kaufman has been rendered almost speechless so far.

Are you surprised that Josh Kaufman is The Voice winner? Were you among those who truly believed Christina Grimmie had the title hands down?

  • ‘The Voice’: Josh Kaufman of Team Usher Wins

‘The Voice’: Josh Kaufman of Team Usher Wins

After battling it out for weeks, Josh Kaufman emerged Tuesday from a line-up of particularly gifted performers to win this season’s The Voice competition.

Finalists Josh Kaufman of Team Usher, Christina Grimmie of Team Adam Levine, and Jake Worthington of Team Blake Shelton battled it out throughout the season, and it was difficult to decide who truly had “the voice” among the talented singers.

Unfortunately, only one could be crowned the winner — and this season, it was Kaufman.

“This is a show about dreams, about the journey of being an artist, and he represents all of that,” said Usher after the win. “From the time of the blind auditions to being stolen, he’s been on an amazing journey.”

In his pre-The Voice life, Kaufman played local gigs with his band in the Indianapolis area and supported his family as an SAT prep tutor.

At the announcement by host Carson Daly that he had won the competition, Kaufman was a little calmer than one would expect.

“I can’t even talk,” he said after winning the competition. “I’m overwhelmed. I’m surprised. I’m happy. I’m relieved. This has been so much more of an experience than I ever could have imagined.”

Kaufman’s win brings Usher to the coach’s winners circle — only Shelton and Levine have claimed that spot in other seasons. Ironically, Kaufman began his journey on Team Adam until Usher stole him away.

“This is the last big chance for me and for my family. To be able to do this for them and for Usher, it’s huge,” Kaufman said before performing.

The other young finalists Worthington and Grimmie, while they didn’t win, walk away with some great prospects for their future.

Worthington, a 17-year-old country singer from La Porte, Texas, who was turned away last season during the blind auditions, said his experience on the show reminded him that it’s ultimately about the music.

“It’s not the recording contract and it’s not the money,” said Worthington. “It’s getting on that stage, grabbing the microphone and doing what we love – and that’s what matters.”

YouTube sensation Grimmie, 20, came in third. However, she still came out a winner after receiving some good news earlier in the show. Levine told her that despite the outcome, “you will have a record deal because I would like to sign you for my label.”

Kaufman will receive a recording contract and head out on a 31-date summer tour with the other two finalists, and fan-favorite Kristen Merlin, along with season 5 winner Tessanne Chin, runner-ups Jacquie Lee and Will Champlin, and season 1 favorite Dia Frampton.

  • Tessanne Chin: Season 5 Winner Of “The Voice”

Tessanne Chin couldn’t be happier after winning the 5th season of NBC’s “The Voice” in Tuesday night’s live two-hour finale. Chin, a 28-year-old member of coach Adam Levine’s team and former singer for legendary reggae artist Jimmy Cliff, also wins a recording contract. ‘A better coach for me I could not find,’ Tessanne told coach Adam moments before the win.

The runner up was 16-year-old Jacquie Lee from coach Christina Aguilera’s team while Will Champlin finished third. Champlin was a member of coach Adam Levine’s team as well and his dad was a Chicago band member.

For Tessanne, the win means the Jamaican native will finally realize her dream of becoming an international singer. According to Tessanne, she did not expect to win especially after she almost gave up on her dream of becoming a singer before trying out for the competition.  “I feel like, is this really happening, you know? This can’t be real. Like unbelievable. Unbelievable.” she said. “I was literally at the end of a road, you know, and coming to a place in my life where I was like, am I going to keep doing this and feeling like I’m not getting anywhere? Or am I going to give this another shot? And thank God, thank God I was able to give it another shot.”

It appeared as though no one was more proud than her couch Adam Levine, who now adds a second win to his record on the show. Adam said he had to change tactics in order to win this time. His new approach was to downsize  his other commitments so that he could devote more time to building his team’s confidence.

The evening was also graced by performances from Lady Gaga who performed “Do What U Want” and Celine Dion who sung “Incredible” from her latest Album “Loved Me Back to Life.”

  • Tessanne Chin Surprised About Winning ‘The Voice’

Tessanne Chin was the most likely pick as winner of The Voice on Tuesday night, but the Kingston, Jamaica native was surprised that she won.

“It is out of body,” Tessane said, holding her newly won trophy. “I feel like, is this really happening, you know? This can’t be real. Like unbelievable. Unbelievable.”

That modesty doesn’t seem contrived either. Tessanne Chin appears to be one of the most sincere and down-to-earth contestants on the history of The Voice. Her tweets and Instagram photos are filled with signs of her deep faith and her love for not only singing, but her coach, Adam Levine, her fellow contestants and her fans, too.

If there was a ‘Miss or Mr. Congeniality’ award given out during this season of The Voice, it’s a likely bet that Tessanne won it!

On shows like The Voice, where fan votes determine the winner, it’s not always talent that reigns supreme. It’s sometimes a bit of a popularity contest. This time talent reigned supreme, but something about Tessanne Chin’s humility endeared her to an unfathomable number of viewers. She is a very grounded individual who has thus far managed to keep her personal life personal and her professional life exuberant enough to launch it into the heavens. Fans will no doubt now expect big things from this amazing singer.

Tessanne’s coach Adam Levine was over the moon with their win.

Adam won the first season of The Voice, but was beaten out by Blake Shelton for the next three seasons in a row. He must be reveling in the glory of Tessanne Chin’s win as well as his opportunity to mercilessly harass Blake Shelton for the entire upcoming season. Despite Blake losing his last contestant for this season, Cole Vosbury, several days ago, he still cheered on the last three contestants on Tuesday night.

Are you surprised that Tessanne Chin won The Voice? It’s sort of unbelievable that her win surprised her. Not many people have a voice like hers, and hers will likely carry her to a lifetime of stardom.

  • Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga Sing on ‘The Voice’

Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga sang together for the first time ever on The Voice finale Tuesday night, and in addition to treating fans to a dazzling performance, likely helped to squelch rumors about a feud between the two.

“I was really excited because The Voice called and wanted me to perform on the finale and I obviously can’t refuse,” Lady Gaga said following the show. “It’s such an amazing show and I said, ‘I’ll do it, but I want to know if Christina will do it with me.”

The two ladies wore shiny, sparkling outfits as they sang Lady Gaga’s ArtPop track, Do What U Want.

Christina Aguilera was thrilled with Lady Gaga’s suggestion they collaborate.

“This is the first time we’ve ever met and I have to say, when I heard she wanted to collaborate I said, ‘Of course! Lady Gaga!’ I’ve been waiting to meet her. She’s such an innovative artist and a risk taker and as a fellow female, I have so much respect for that,” she said. “She’s the most down to earth real person that I’ve ever met in this business. Female to female in this industry, it’s really hard to find that kind of a person.”

She then said to Lady Gaga, “I love you girl, and you deserve everything that you’ve earned.”

Lady Gaga spent some time getting to know a little something about Christina Aguilera’s The Voice contestant Jacquie Lee prior to the show. Lee, who came in as runner-up to winner Tessanne Chin, is a vocal powerhouse at just 16 years old.

She tweeted about the young singer prior to the show’s finale.

    Aguilera immediately responded.

It certainly looks like everything is beyond cool between Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga, and after hearing them perform together on The Voice Tuesday night, fans must be hoping for the opportunity of a redo. Their styles and strong voices definitely made them a dynamic duo on the stage–and their outfits and bleached blonde hair were simply the icing on the cake

  • Tessanne Chin Wins Season 5 Of The Voice

Tessanne Chin Wins Season 5 Of The Voice

Jamaican back up singer Tessanne Chin has won the most prestigious singing title in the United States. After a long journey, Tessanne was crowned the season five winner of The Voice.

Tessanne admitted that she was almost at the point of giving up on her singing career before she landed a spot on the NBC singing competition. “I was literally at the end of a road, you know, and coming to a place in my life where I was like, am I going to keep doing this and feeling like I’m not getting anywhere? Or am I going to give this another shot? And thank God, thank God I was able to give it another shot,” she said.

Tessanne credits her win to her family and friends back home in Jamaica, along with her new family and friends here in the U.S. And let us not forget, her coach and mentor Adam Levine. “It’s just been an amazing journey and I could not do this without the little island of Jamaica,” Chin said before her final performance. “But I most importantly could not do it without the amazing new family and supporters I have here in the U.S. Thank you for accepting me and thank you for bringing me this far.”

Luckily for Tessanne, Levine decided to change his approach this season, and give his team as much support and guidance as possible. “In the seasons past where I have kind of fallen short in my opinion, if I’m looking at it analytically, it’s by not being able to give enough because I’ve been super busy,” Levine explained. “So I tried to kind of thin things out so I could devote most of my time to just get to know these guys and instill them with the confidence that they needed to win.”

While Tessanne may still be letting the news sink in, I don’t think anyone had any doubts that she would be this season’s winner, including her coach Adam. “You are just capable of anything and it blows me away,” Adam said after Tessanne belted out Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing. “I know in my mind and heart you are the winner of this show.”

When host Carson Daly revealed Tessanne as the winner, she burst into tears and then took the stage for one last performance. Not only did Chin win a recording contract, she will also be collaborating with Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic. When asked how it felt to be the new winner, Tessanne replied: “It is out of body. I feel like, is this really happening, you know? This can’t be real. Like unbelievable. Unbelievable.”

The sixth season of The Voice will premiere on February 24, 2014, with Shakira and Usher returning as coaches.

  • The Voice Season 5 Crowns A Winner

The Voice Season 5 Crowns A Winner

And we have a winner! Tessanne Chin, from team Adam, has been crowned the winner of the fifth season of The Voice.

After belting out her rendition of Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing, it was no shock that Chin would be this season’s winner. Her coach Adam Levine even made the comment, after her performance on Monday night, that he knew in his mind and heart that she would be the winner. Apparently Levine’s intuition is right!

“It’s sacred ground. We lost Whitney too early. So many people stay away from her because it’s incredible, one of the best vocals ever recorded … impossible to replicate,” Levine said after Chin’s final performance. “You are just capable of anything and it blows me away. I know in my mind and heart you are the winner of this show.”

Before the finale, Chin talked about her journey on the show, and how she couldn’t have done it without the support of her friends and family in Jamaica and her new friends and family in the United States. “It’s just been an amazing journey and I could not do this without the little island of Jamaica,” Chin said. “But I most importantly could not do it without the amazing new family and supporters I have here in the U.S. Thank you for accepting me and thank you for bringing me this far.”

Will Champlin, also from team Adam, was announced as the third runner up, and then it all came down to Jacquie Lee, from team Christina, and Chin. It was an emotional moment as the two final girls stood on the stage anxiously waiting for the announcement that would change one of their lives forever. When host Carson Daly revealed the winner, Chin burst into tears and then took the stage for one last performance. Not only did Chin win a recording contract, she will also be collaborating with Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic.

Shakira and Usher will return for the sixth season of The Voice that premieres on February 24, 2014.

  • The Voice: Final Performance Show(down)

    The Voice: Final Performance Show(down)

Monday night’s episode of The Voice featured strong performances from the final three contenders: Tessanne Chin (Jamaica), Will Champlin (California), and Jacquie Lee (New Jersey).

All singers performed three songs including duets with their coaches, Adam Levine and Christian Aquilera, who are the only coaches remaining in the competition.

16-year old Lee held her own during the final performance show by singing “Back to Black” and duet “We Remain” with coach Aguilera.

“The amount of talent you have in that little body, for being 16 years old, is unbelievable,”Aguilera told Lee.

“To see you evolve on the show – sister, that was amazing,” three-time winner Blake Shelton told Lee.

Lee closed with the showstopper “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” from Dreamgirls.

However, Lee will have a tough time beating Chin who took on Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing,” in “tribute” to the late singer.

According to People, the crowd’s cheers were non-stop and Chin’s coach, Levine, said he had no words, just “emotions.”

“It’s sacred ground. We lost Whitney too early. So many people stay away from her [songs] because it’s incredible, one of the best vocals ever recorded … impossible to replicate,” Levine said, but added that Chin was up to the challenge. “You are just capable of anything and it blows me away. I know in my mind and heart you are the winner of this show.”

Champlin, the show’s remaining male singer, continued to show off his quirky sweet edge and skill when he joined his coach, Levine, for a duet of Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer.”

In the early weeks of the show, the 30-year old was moved between judges, stolen, and saved but, on Monday evening, he proved an equal to Levine.

“You have been nothing but devoted,” Levine told Champlin, noting his deep respect for the singer’s work ethic. “I think we are cut from the same cloth.”

  • The Voice: Blake Shelton Predicts Winner

The Voice has just three finalists remaining and Blake Shelton believes he knows which one will emerge victorious. Shelton watched his last contestant leave the competition on Tuesday, after weeks of believing Cole Vosbury had what it took to win the competition. Now with no one left on his team, he is predicting the winner.

“I’m bummed about it. I wanted that for Cole. He’s just a good dude, he truly is,” Shelton said in an interview with The TODAY Show. “But that’s not all it takes to win this thing. You’ve got to have something that none of us can figure out.”

Even though Blake thinks this season wasn’t as obvious as previous ones–where he maintained it was easy to tell who was going to win–he does think at this point one contestant is favored over the others as the overall winner of the show.

“And if you go by this week’s performance, everything points to Tessanne (Chin) right now, so that wouldn’t surprise me to see (her win),” he says.

Tessanne Chin wowed the judges, the audience and home viewers with her spectacular performance of Bridge Over Troubled Water this week. Her coach Adam Levine was blown away, as was just about everyone else who saw her perform.

It will certainly be interesting to learn next week if Blake Shelton’s prediction comes true. Since he clearly isn’t the winning coach on The Voice this season, he might find a bit of solace in having predicted the winner.

Blake knows he’s in for some serious ribbing–especially if he loses to Adam Levine. And given his belief that Tessanne Chin will win, that’s precisely who he’ll lose to if his prediction proves true.

  • Adam Levine Speechless Over Tessanne Chin Song

Adam Levine was left speechless after Tessanne Chin–one of his remaining contestants on The Voice–sang Bridge Over Troubled Water for this week’s competition. The amazing vocalist from Jamaica stunned the audience and viewers at home, too, with the awe-inspiring performance.

“That was crazy what just happened,” Levine said following Tessanne’s performance. “The sheer talent is just … I think that is probably the most flawless and graceful performance I’ve ever heard on this show.”

Chin hinted at some heartache she was experiencing prior to her performance on Monday night, but never explained to the audience what was happening. She did admit it lent itself to the raw emotion that was so incredibly apparent when she sang the old Simon & Garfunkel song.

Tessanne Chin was so excited when she learned how well her song did on iTunes that she shared word of her success via Instagram.

    Things kept getting better, too.

Do you think Tessanne Chin will win this season of The Voice? On Tuesday night she was named one of the three finalists. And while Adam Levine was no doubt sad to see contestant James Wolpert leave the competition, he still has two contestants left.

If Adam Levine wins this season of The Voice, he will probably tease fellow coach Blake Shelton mercilessly. Shelton won the last three seasons of The Voice. However his last contestant was voted off the show on Tuesday night.

Even if Adam doesn’t win, he should take great pride in having three of his contestants make it all the way to the show’s semifinals. Given the talent Tessanne Chin has, however, it doesn’t seem likely he’ll walk away from this season defeated.

  • The Voice: Will Adam Levine Win?

The Voice: Will Adam Levine Win?

The Voice has been dominated by Adam Levine’s team for the past two weeks. This week saw the Maroon 5 front man reign supreme for the third week in a row, when all three of his team members were moved along to next week’s competition. Is it possible that Blake Shelton won’t win this season of The Voice?

On Tuesday night, Tessanne Chin, Will Champlin and James Wolpert–all from Team Adam–were saved and moved on to next week’s competition. Jacquie Lee from Team Christina and Cole Vosbury from Team Blake were saved as well. That left Cee Lo Green’s only remaining contestant, Caroline Pennell, in the bottom three, along with Team Christina’s Matthew Schuler and Team Blake’s Ray Boudreaux. After yet another questionable Twitter save, Matthew Schuler was spared, and Caroline and Ray were sent home.

This means Cee Lo Green is out of the game. He knew that might be coming, and mentioned before Caroline Pennell was sent home that he was used to being the underdog.

“Don’t worry about me because I’m always affectionately the underdog,” he told Carson Daly. “It’s all good with me.”

Blake Shelton has one contestant left in the competition and Christina Aguilera has two. It’s uncertain if Adam Levine is happier about the possibility of winning or the possibility of Blake Shelton losing. Either way, Levine is looking pretty happy these days, as it’s the best season he’s had yet on The Voice.

Twitter followers seem sure that Team Adam will win this season of The Voice.

How might Blake Shelton fare if he doesn’t win his fourth season of The Voice? He will certainly never hear the end of it if he loses to Adam Levine, and the chances of that happening are looking better all the time.
