  • ‘The Walking Dead: Season 2 Episode 2’ Previewed in New Trailer

Just days before last Christmas, in the midst of a crowded and competitive holiday season for video games, Telltale Games released the first episode of The Walking Dead: Season 2. The game had much to live up to given the high praise the first Walking Dead adventure game received, but seems to have won fans over with it continuing dark, bloody story.

The first episode of The Walking Dead: Season 2 was solid, but was crowded with new characters to meet and plot points to set up. Like the first season, the following episodes should be able to dig deeper into characters, turn up the action, and give players the kind of choices made difficult by the relationships they’ve cultivated in previous episodes.

Telltale today released a new preview for the second episode of The Walking Dead: Season 2. The new episode is titled “A House Divided” and will hit digital storefronts on March 4. The episode looks to put protagonist Clementine in conflict with both the undead and living liars that surround her.

Telltale also teased today that “A House Divided” will make use of player choices made in the 400 Days DLC. This gives players only a few more days to incorporate that content into their The Walking Dead: Season 2 playthrough.

  • Telltale Announces Games Based On Borderlands, Game Of Thrones At VGX

Telltale Games, the studio behind 2012’s The Walking Dead and this year’s The Wolf Among Us, confirmed Saturday night at VGX that it will remain busy as it goes into 2014. Not only will it be working on season two of The Walking Dead as the studio announced two more games for 2014.

At the start of the VGX, it was revealed that Telltale Games is working on Tales from the Borderlands. As the name implies, it will be an adventure game series set on Pandora – the world from Gearbox Software’s Borderlands franchise. It will star an entirely new cast of characters, but characters like Handsome Jack will return to make an appearance.

While details are scarce at this time, the guys at Telltale Games said that Gearbox is actually being very hands off with their approach to the world of Pandora. In fact, Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software, said they had very little to say about Telltale’s proposal script because they all loved it so much.

    Here’s the debut trailer:

As an added bonus, here’s the interview with Pitchford and Telltale’s Kevin Bruner:

The other big reveal of the night was a Game of Thrones adventure game coming from Telltale Games. This is especially exciting for fans of the book and TV series as video games based on the franchise have yet to be any good. With Telltale making a story-focused game around it, fans should now be able to rest easy knowing that the world of Westeros will finally get the respect it deserves in video games.

If you want more, here’s an interview with Kevin Bruner and Dan Connors about the Game of Thrones game:

Both games will hit PC and consoles in 2014.

  • ‘The Wolf Among Us’ Out Today on iOS

‘The Wolf Among Us’ Out Today on iOS

Telltale Games has announced that its latest adventure game, The Wolf Among Us, will be released for iOS devices today. The first episode of the game will be available on Apple’s App Store later today. The Wolf Among Us is Telltale’s follow-up to its popular 2012 adventure game The Walking Dead.

In trying to recreate the success of The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among us shares many similarities, such as also being based on a long-running and well-regarded comic book series. Players will take on the role of Bigby Wolf from the Fables comics as he holds down the law in Fabletown.

As in The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us will face players with choices that will reverberate throughout entire episodes and the series. A new behind-the-scenes preview for the game released today previews a bit of episode one (titled “Faith”) and how the game’s developers hope to create a meaningful recreation of the comic while still allowing players to influence the story:

  • The Walking Dead: Season Two Premiere Trailer Stars An Older Clementine

The Walking Dead proved last year that the adventure game genre was still alive and well. It also proved once and for all that you can take a super popular license and transfer it to another medium without losing what made the original work so special. Now the developers at Telltale Games are back for season two, and a familiar face is here to greet fans.

In the premiere trailer for Telltale’s The Walking Dead: Season Two, gamers are treated to what an older, presumably more seasoned Clementine looks like. In an even bigger surprise, gamers will be able to control Clementine this time around as she’s the main character in season two.

    Here’s the official synopsis:

The Walking Dead: Season Two continues the story of Clementine, a young girl orphaned by the undead apocalypse. Left to fend for herself, she has been forced to learn how to survive in a world gone mad.

Many months have passed since the events seen in Season One of The Walking Dead, and Clementine is searching for safety. But what can an ordinary child do to stay alive when the living can be just as bad — and sometimes worse — than the dead?

As Clementine, you will be tested by situations and dilemmas that will test your morals and your instinct for survival. Your decisions and actions will change the story around you, in this sequel to 2012’s Game of the Year.

As in the first season, players will be tasked with making hard decisions that affect the outcome of each episode. Telltale also notes that decisions made in season one and 400 Days will impact the events in season two. In other words, you better get those saves ready for when The Walking Dead: Season Two hits the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Mac and iOS in the coming months.

  • Telltale’s ‘The Wolf Among Us’ Launch Trailer Released

The first episode of Telltale Games’ The Wolf Among Us hits Xbox 360 and PC on Friday (October 11) and the publisher today released a revealing launch trailer for the game.

The game is based on the popular Vertigo Fable comics. Bigby Wolf, the Sheriff of Fabletown, will be the main character in the game. Players will use the Wolf’s powers to try and protect his fellow fairy tale characters, making decisions along the way that will affect outcomes in future episodes.

The Wolf Among Us is Telltale’s first new adventure game since last year’s surprise hit, The Walking Dead. Returning to the comic world makes sense for the publisher, and the art style seen in the trailer certainly matches the world of Fables well.

However, the strength of The Walking Dead adventure game was its spectacular writing and characterization. Without those things, The Wolf Among Us could end up being closer to Telltale’s Jurassic Park: The Game than last year’s award-winning offering.

  • The Walking Dead Coming To Ouya This Year

The Walking Dead is just about on every platform imaginable now. It was just recently released on the PlayStation Vita, and Telltale Games plans to support pretty much every console with the release of season two later this year. Before that, however, it has one more console to port The Walking Dead Season One to.

Telltale Games announced today that the first season of its award winning The Walking Dead adventure game series is coming to Ouya this Winter. The miniature Android console is in need of some big name content, and the The Walking Dead will add some much needed star power to its lineup.

“The Walking Dead is exactly the type of immersive, story-driven content that Ouya is all about,” said Julie Uhrman CEO and founder of Ouya. “Ouya is thrilled to bring the award winning Walking Dead Season One, including 400 Days, and followed by Season two, to our gamers.”

Of course, many will wonder what the point of this is? People have already played The Walking Dead on other platforms. Will they seriously buy an Ouya just to play The Walking Dead again? Probably not, but this isn’t about people who have already played the game. This is about the people who have yet to experience it, and can’t afford any of the platforms that it’s currently on. The $100 micro-console could be their ticket to experiencing one of best games of 2012.

As an added benefit, those who pick up an Ouya for The Walking Dead will then be exposed to all the indie content that’s currently floating around in the Ouya marketplace. It’s a great way to attract more gamers to the platform, drum up sales and convince other developers to support the Ouya.

  • Telltale Games’ Fables Adaptation Gets Its First Trailer

Telltale Games proved they know how to adapt a comic book into a video game last year with The Walking Dead. The series captured the look and feel of the comics while providing gameplay that more or less held up to the standards established by the adventure game genre. Now Telltale Games is trying to work their magic again with one of the most celebrated comic book series of recent memory.

It was announced back in March that Telltale Games would be adapting Vertigo’s Fables into a video game series. Since the announcement, we haven’t seen much of the game until today when Telltale released the first trailer for The Wolf Among Us.

What’s most impressive about this trailer is that Telltale really nailed the style of the world as its presented in the comics. Fans of The Walking Dead appreciated the studio’s attention to detail, and fans of Fables will no doubt appreciate it here as well.

There’s no release date for The Wolf Among Us, but it will launch sometime this year for PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Mac.

  • Telltale Talks The Walking Dead At Comic-Con

The Walking Dead made a huge splash at Comic-Con with the unveiling of the first trailer for the fourth season of the hit TV series. In a separate, but equally exciting event for fans, the team at Telltale Games talked about the second season of the hit game series based on the comic.

The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and Telltale Games joined forces during Comic-Con to provide a behind the scenes look at what went into creating one of the best games of 2012. The team also teased out a few details regarding what players can expect from the new season that will start later this year.

In other The Walking Dead news, Telltale Games recently released a new episode for season one called 400 Days. They were coy at Comic-Con in regards to how this new episode would tie into season two, but they still maintain that your decisions from both season one and 400 Days will carry over into season two. Let’s just hope they fix all the save data issues going into season two so that nothing is lost in bringing over those decisions.

Unfortunately, there’s still no word yet on when we’re going to see season two of The Walking Dead video game series. The developers still hope to get it out before the end of the year though.

  • The Walking Dead 400 Days Creators Talk About The Latest Episode

The award winning The Walking Dead adventure game series from Telltale Games is getting one last episode next month before the team moves on to season two. Of course, this latest episode came as bit of a surprise so fans may be wondering just what’s going on with it. Wonder no more then as the team behind it are finally opening up.

Director Sean Ainsworth and Designer Harrison Pink recently sat down for a seven-minute interview to talk about 400 Days. They reiterate a bit of what we already know, such as how the episode takes place during the events of season one. The characters and locales will be different, however, as it focuses on five different protagonists over the course of 400 Days after the initial zombie outbreak that started the first season of the series. They also confirm that some of the choices made in 400 Days will carry over into season two, but they aren’t talking about that yet.

The Walking Dead 400 Days came out of nowhere, but fans are obviously appreciative. Having to wait later into the year for season two would be killer without some kind of filler, and it seems that 400 Days will fit the bill just nicely. It will also have the added benefit of saving fans the pain of having to play Survival Instinct.

The Walking Dead 400 Days is still penciled in for an early July release for PS3, Xbox 360, PC and iOS. You don’t have to play the first season to play this latest add-on, but it’s highly recommend that you do.

  • The Walking Dead 400 Days Bridges The Gap Between Seasons One And Two

Telltale Games made everybody a fan of the adventure game genre last year with season one of The Walking Dead. We’re still a few months away from a second season, but the storytellers at Telltale have something in store to tide you over.

At E3, Telltale Games announced The Walking Dead 400 Days as new DLC content for The Walking Dead. The new episode will serve as a bridge of sorts between season one and two with the choices made in the episode impacting events in season two. Here’s the full synopsis:

Centered on a truck stop on a Georgia highway, The Walking Dead – 400 Days is a DLC episode for Season One of Telltale’s award-winning game series. 400 Days tells five linked stories; each taking place at different points in time and from the point of view of a different survivor, from day one of the undead apocalypse to day 400.

The five stories can be played in any order and will change based on the choices that you make. Echoes of the choices you made in Season 1 will carry over into 400 Days and the choices you make in 400 Days will resonate into Season 2.

In a FAQ on the developer’s Web site, Telltalle says that 400 Days will not feature Lee or Clementine in any way. Instead, the developers say the DLC episode serves as “interesting connective tissue between the two seasons.”

The Walking Dead 400 Days will cost $4.99 when it’s made available soon for Xbox 360, PS3, PS Vita, PC and Mac.

  • Poker Night 2 Launch Trailer is Appropriately Silly

There are a few games that throw characters from different series’ into a multiplayer fighting arena, but only Telltale GamesPoker Night series makes them sit down and look each other in the eye.

Poker Night 2 launches today on the Xbox 360 LIVE Arcade, and will follow soon on PlayStation Network and Steam. A trailer for the launch has also been released.

The game features characters such as Sam from the Sam & Max games, Claptrap from the Borderlands games, Ash Williams from the Evil Dead movies, and Brock Samson from The Venture Bros. TV series as poker players. Portal villain GLaDOS fills in as the dealer.

Playing the game can unlock what the Telltale is calling “Bounty Unlocks.” These Poker Night rewards will unlock content in other games, such as Borderlands 2 skins, Team Fortress 2 items, and, depending on the system, Xbox Avatar or PlayStation 3 theme unlocks.

Telltale is coming off the wild success of The Walking Dead adventure game, which made many best-of-2012 lists. In comparison, Poker Night 2 should be a welcome reprieve from the stress of braving the zombie apocalypse. Though it’s not likely to top best-of lists for 2013, it may be a nice diversion during the lean summer months of gaming.

  • New LEGO City Undercover Trailer Goes Undercover

The announcement yesterday that Rayman Legends will be delayed to September and will no longer be a Wii U exclusive was a huge blow to early adopters of the Wii U. The title was one of the most anticipated games that fell within Nintendo‘s Wii U “launch window.” Now Wii U owners will have to wait while Ubisoft retools the game (which was, by developer accounts, complete) for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

So, the dearth of new, exclusive Wii U titles continues. Wii U owners will now have to look toward March 18, when LEGO City Undercover hits stores in the U.S. Luckily, that game is shaping up to be one of the best in Telltale Games’ long line of well-received LEGO video games. The game’s Grand Theft Auto-style open-world gameplay and satirical cops-and-robbers movie humor should provide some basic comfort to gamers angry about the Rayman situation.

Today’s new LEGO City Undercover trailer shows that player will, indeed, be taking Chase McCain undercover.

  • Telltale’s The Walking Dead Episode Three Hits PS3 Today, Xbox 360 Tomorrow

Telltale promised that episode three of their hugely successful “The Walking Dead” game would hit in August. It looked like they weren’t going to be able to fulfill that promise at first, but they pulled through right at the very end.

Telltale Games announced today that episode three of “The Walking Dead” will be available on the PlayStation Network today for $5. Episode three will be available on Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow for 400 MS points. The PC/Mac release will also be available tomorrow for those who bought the season pass via the Telltale Store or any one of their numerous digital download partners like Steam or Origin.

Fans of the iOS version will be able to get their hands on episode two starting tomorrow for $4.99. Telltale is also offering episodes two through five of the iOS version for $14.99.

Episode three is titled “Long Road Ahead” and Telltale promises that it will be “the most emotionally harrowing episode to date.” I bet that means people are going to die… again. The game will see the group that you ended up with at the end of episode two making their way out of the motel as they try to deal with the drama that ensued at the end of the last episode.

While you wait for episode three to release on the PSN today, check out the latest episode of Playing Dead. The team at Telltale goes over the many choices that players could make in episode two and how it could affect the story. I don’t think I need to tell you, but spoilers are to be expected. Watch at your own risk.
