  • ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Season 2 Reportedly Won’t Focus On Piper As Much

As Netflix’s Orange is the New Black: Season 2 continues production, cast and crew continue to give interviews and tease fans about what they can expect from the next installment of the popular series.

We’ve heard that Laura Prepon, who plays Alex, will only be back for one episode, so obviously there has to be a major shift in plot, considering that she was one of the main characters in the first season. Star Taylor Schilling has said that the coming season will be more compelling, because the writing is better.

TV Guide spoke with creator Jenji Kohan and some of the cast, and got a few more interesting nuggets out of them.

Kohan wouldn’t say whether or not the season jumps ahead in time or picks up right at the end of the first one, but she did reportedly indicate that the second season won’t focus as much on the Piper character as the first one did, but will rather divide the story more evenly among its many characters.

Interestingly, she even gave a hint about Season 3, saying that if the show does indeed return for a third season (which seems pretty likely considering Netflix renewed it for a second one even before the first one debuted to tremendous critical acclaim and fan buzz), there will be more focus on the guards and their stories.

Cast member Kate Mulgrew reportedly said that Season 2 will have more about the histories of Poussé and Black Cindy. They have indeed been popping up in the set photos being posted to Instagram. There will also be more about Red’s backstory. From TV Guide:

However, she adds that we will be seeing more of Red’s backstory and what exactly landed her in prison. “I just know that they weren’t putting candy bars in my deep freeze, if you know what I mean,” Mulgrew says. She also explains that whatever went down between Red and the Russians has something to do with the reason we haven’t seen her husband at visiting hours yet (but thankfully it’s nothing too dark). “Well, the Russians weren’t happy, but my husband is alive. Don’t worry,” Mulgrew assures.

Taryn Manning reportedly indicated that there might be hope for Piper and Pennsatucky to reconcile, but that’s still up in the air. She did recently reveal what she said is a “ginormous” plot point of the second season, which is about Healy giving Pennsatucky the green light to kill Piper.

Take a look at some recent pics from the set of Season 2 here.

  • Netflix Keeps ‘That ’70s Show’ Available For Viewers

Netflix Keeps ‘That ’70s Show’ Available For Viewers

While That ’70s Show has been off the air since 2006, it continues to a popular viewing choice for many people, which is why you can currently watch it on Netflix.

The title was set to expire on October 1st, and even reportedly disappeared from the service for a short time. It’s on there now, however, indicating that Netflix renewed whatever deal it had in place to make it available to customers.

Netflix typically lets these deals it has with content providers expire if the titles aren’t being viewed much, but it would seem that plenty of people have been viewing That ’70s Show. Otherwise this discussion would be a lot different.

Having the show available, however, could also have a promotional effect on Netflix’s own original series Orange is the New Black, considering that Laura Prepon (the most popular cast member on OITNB, based on search data), stars on both shows. Likewise, Orange is the New Black’s popularity could further fuel viewings of That ’70s Show.

Here are some more recent titles that Netflix has added.

  • Malin Akerman Brings Comedy To ABC In “Trophy Wife”

Malin Akerman, a Swedish actress, has been in several films over the years and appeared with brief stints on a number of television shows as well. If you have not heard her name before now, it may be just because many of her roles have been in independent films, or she has simply just been a minor character in the film.

Her most recent project is a comedy on ABC called Trophy Wife. Previously, she has appeared in films such as 27 Dresses, Couples Retreat, and many more. She has been seen in several films, but never received much recognition for her work and perhaps turned to television as a way to remedy that. Her new show, Trophy Wife, centers around Akerman as she tries to fit in as the third wife to an older man, stepparent his three kids and deal with his meddling ex wives, according to US Weekly. Of course, a character like this would be seen as a trophy wife, as Akerman is a younger blonde that an older guy would want more than his ex-wives who are all much older.

She is forced to keep her cool while she deals with his first ex, the other star of the show, Marcia Gay Harden. Akerman plays Kate, a reformed party girl, who finds dififculty dealing with kids for the first time. Her new husband is played by Bradley Whitford and his other ex-wife is Michaela Watkins. Akerman has always had an appreciation for comedy and gravitated toward the genre partly because of her parents and their silliness. NBC News mentions that the 35-year-old actress also recently became a mother in real life, and the news came shortly after she accepted the role.

She has also turned to television after feeling that her slew of films was getting to be too hectic of a schedule for her, and wanted more time with her family. She said of the role, “You know what? I would love to just be home, be with my husband, be with my friends and just kind of have more of a regular schedule.”

Trophy Wife premiered on September 24, and will continue airing on Tuesdays at 9:30 throughout the Fall season. It airs on ABC, following the new series The Goldbergs.

  • NeNe Leakes On New Spinoff, “Bridesmaid-zillas”

NeNe Leakes has her own spinoff show now after appearing for several seasons on the hugely successful “Real Housewives of Atlanta”, and she recently sat down for an interview with Entertainment Tonight to dish about “I Dream Of NeNe” and how it differs from her other reality show.

Leakes, who remarried her ex-husband Gregg Leakes in June, says that one of the biggest differences is that now that she’s the star–and executive producer–the load is much heavier to bear.

“I’m having to shoot three scenes a day, changing clothes three times in one day to do different scenes, so I’m just constantly working. You know, when it’s your show, you got to promote it, you have to push it, you have to make this thing work. Now, when I’m on RHOA, it’s six of us pushing and pulling, so the work isn’t as heavy a load, because they’ve got all the pushing and pulling. But this time, it’s all about me,” she said.

Leakes was offered a spinoff deal before her wedding, with Bravo asking to film the affair as part of the first season. She says one of the biggest worries during her big day was actually the women who were supposed to be helping her.

“The most difficult people were Marlo Hampton and Diana Gowins. When I say difficult, it was unbelievable that they could not step outside of themselves and say that this is a wedding for NeNe, our friend, and let’s just be here to support her. They argued most of the time, they were never really satisfied. They were very difficult in different ways. After working with Marlo on the show, I could see why she was not a housewife, because she’s super difficult. She’s super extra….They’re definitely bridesmaid-zillas. They forgot that the word bridesmaid ends in “maid.” Just wear what I ask you to wear, just do that.”

Tune in to Bravo on Tuesday nights at 9 to catch all the drama.

  • Netflix Gives Students Free Subscriptions For Talking About Movies And TV Shows

Netflix Gives Students Free Subscriptions For Talking About Movies And TV Shows

In the UK and Ireland, Netflix is offering students a shot at a year’s free subscription as part of a Student Ambassador program. Announced via Twitter and Facebook, the program calls on students to use Twitter to discuss shows and movies they watch on Netflix with the larger community.

“Students are a big part of our Netflix UK and Ireland community and we want to hear what you think about our films, TV shows and our service in general,” Netflix says. “That’s why we’re looking for student ambassadors to champion Netflix UK and Ireland on Twitter and get people talking about our films and TV shows.”

Netflix is asking students to ask questions around different shows each week for seven weeks with the goal of getting students talking on Twitter using specific hashtags. Netflix says it will help these ambassadors out with the questions.

The company says it is looking for students who “know their Battlestar from their Breaking Bad,” are dedicated Twitter users and are sociable and active in university life.

In addition to the free Netflix subscription, the ambassador that generates the most discussion by the end of December will get an unspecified smart TV, gaming console and tablet.

Those looking to participate are directed to email [email protected]. They’ll send more info from there.

  • Will U.S. Cable Companies Embrace Netflix?

Will U.S. Cable Companies Embrace Netflix?

Netflix has been achieving all kinds of new milestones. Its original shows were able to garner a total of fourteen nominations (while also managing to win a few), marking the historical entrance of online video into the television awards.

Earlier this month, a deal with Virgin Media was announced marking the first time a cable company would offer Netflix to its users. Last week, news emerged of a similar deal between Netflix and Swedish cable provider Com Hem. Like with the Virgin Media deal, Com Hem will offer Netflix through its TiVo boxes.

These deals might just be the beginning of something much larger for Netflix, however, as the company has also expressed interest in working with cable providers in its homeland of the United States.

    According to Variety:

Netflix chief financial officer David Wells said at Goldman Sachs’ Communacopia investment conference in New York that the company is open to deals with U.S. pay TV providers, but hasn’t reached any agreements in the States thus far.

“It’s up to the MVPDs (multichannel video programming distributors) to decide how much of a competitor we are or a complement,” Wells said.

That is the ultimate question. Is Netflix a competitor or a complement? In reality, the case could be made for either. Some people are happy to get by without a cable provider and stick with Netflix, and perhaps other web-based options to complement it. Obviously there are plenty of others who continue to use both cable (or satellite) and Netflix.

As Netflix pushes forward with its original programming, it’s looking more and more like an HBO than a cable provider, and HBO is certainly considered a complement as opposed to a competitor (though many – including its own CFO – would like to see HBO go for more of a Netflix-like standalone model).

Netflix intends to double its original content investment, and is now offering its users a higher quality video experience, so far, while keeping prices nice and low.

  • Tina Fey’s Hilarious “Girls” Spoof Is Spot-On

Tina Fey was back on SNL over the weekend, and one of the sketches–a spoof of HBO’s Lena Dunham-led hit “Girls”–was so spot on in its portrayal of the main characters that Fey’s addition, Blerta, was just icing on an already hilarious cake.

The show, which focuses on Lena Dunham’s somewhat self-obsessed character Hannah, tells the story of twenty-somethings living in the city while trying to figure out what and who they want to be. Not exactly a new story, but the characters and the funny/odd situations they get themselves into has garnered a lot of attention from viewers who enjoy the snappy writing and quirky tales. For people of a certain age, however, the show is an enigma; while those of us over 30 may enjoy the stories, many of us can’t relate at all to Hannah or her friends and the first-world problems they face. That’s where Tina Fey steps in, as an Albanian transplant named Blerta. Check out her hilarious, confused character below.

  • ‘Hemlock Grove’ Season 2 Full Of ‘Cool Surprises,’ Says Eli Roth [Netflix]

Hemlock Grove will be back on Netflix next year with a second season. We don’t know a whole lot in the way of details about where the story is going, but from the sound of it, we’re going to be surprised by what happens.

Executive Producer Eli Roth posted the following photo from a table read on Instagram, saying, “Read through was incredible! So many cool suprises this year.”

Hemlock Grove’s Joel de la Fuente recently posted this:

It’s been nearly two months since production designer Drew Boughton told us they were starting to set up production for Season 2.

The show picked up “seasoned showrunner” Charles H. Eglee of The Walking Dead, Dexter and The Shield fame as an executive producer. Season 2 will be shorter than the first at ten episodes, and will be released sometime in 2014.

“One was just a warm up for what we have in store for season two. Get ready to be scared in ways you never expected,” Roth said when the second season was announced.

Hemlock Grove was nominated for two Emmys – one for its theme song and another for its special effects.

  • Julianna Margulies Talks “The Good Wife” And Divorce

Julianna Margulies sat down for a recent interview about the fifth season of “The Good Wife”, and said if she had one wish for her character it would be to see her “let her hair down”.

“What I root for in Alicia is for her to let her hair down and to do what feels good, not what feels right,” she said. “I, as the fan of the show, want to see her come undone again. Because I think she’s so buttoned up and so afraid, she holds her cards so close to the vest. And as soon as she starts playing them out, she can’t stand up. So I’m looking forward to seeing that from her and I think many factors are going to start happening.”

With Alicia receiving an offer from Cary to leave Lockhart Gardner with him and several other associates, fans may be seeing some big changes this season. Of course, the thing many fans tune in for is a love triangle between Alicia, Will, and her husband Peter, played by Chris Noth. As Alicia deals with her husband’s cheating ways, she unravels a little at a time.

“I think she knows as long as she’s at Lockhart and Gardner, there’s no way to make her marriage work. Because she’ll always be seeing Will. I think she knows, that last scene, it was one of my favorite scenes, where she’s in the car with Will and she’s completely come undone. It’s that feeling of, unless I’m away from you, this will keep happening. So she has to make that choice. Otherwise it will be divorce and she wouldn’t be starting out her own law firm,” she said.

As for the firm? It’s not going to be pretty, she says.

“There is this incredible arc that’s about to start in episode one, and shift dramatically in episode 15. And the only way I can explain it without giving it away is that it’s sort of like this bloodbath that happens. Alicia left with their three biggest clients. It generates a lot of money per year. And they gave her her chance. So it’s a bloodbath and then what I would call an explosion and then there’s going to be a bizarre sort of, emotional journey that she’ll be on for a little bit.”

“The Good Wife” premiered on Sunday and you can catch the rest of the season on CBS at 9 p.m.

  • Robin Williams vs. Michael J. Fox in New Sitcoms

Quite a few TV shows had their premieres last week, including a few new shows from the Fall 2013 lineup. Two of the new sitcoms that aired this week were The Crazy Ones and The Michael J. Fox Show. The first stars actor Robin Williams and the second stars, well, Michael J. Fox. With two actors of that caliber going up against each other, a lot of people are wanting to know which one came out on top. The winner–Robin Williams, by a landslide.

Robin Williams, along with Sarah Michelle Geller and guest Kelly Clarkson, managed to bring in 15.6 million viewers with The Crazy Ones. Unfortunately for Fox, The Michael J. Fox Show brought in less than half as many viewers with 7.2 million viewers.

It’s worth noting that part of Williams’ success with The Crazy Ones is, perhaps, due in part to following The Big Bang Theory season premiere, which had 18.3 million viewers. After all, it’s hard to think about flipping the channel after watching Amy Farrah Fowler remark, “It’d be nice to be with a man who wants to know what’s underneath my cardigan. FYI, it’s another cardigan.”

The Michael J. Fox Show, on the other hand, followed the season premiere of Parks and Recreation. While Parks and Rec is hilarious, and is very helpful for those of us having The Office withdrawals, it doesn’t have nearly the following of The Big Bang Theory, so there isn’t as much carryover as far as viewers are concerned.

    The Crazy Ones

The Crazy Ones is about a father and daughter, Simon and Sydney Roberts (Williams and Geller), who work in a Chicago ad agency. Williams plays the dad who has a tendency to take things just a little too far at times, such as when he and his partner get Kelly Clarkson to bump and grind while singing a song for a McDonald’s ad. Geller’s character is appalled and exclaims, “Oh, my God! I’m about to watch America’s sweetheart orgasm in front of my father!”

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qz-8JoUQzE0

    The Michael J. Fox Show

In addition to Fox, the show stars Breaking Bad’s Betsy Brandt and the show focuses on Fox and his family after he received his Parkinson’s diagnosis. You know those inappropriate Michael J. Fox/Parkinson’s jokes people sometimes make after having a little too much to drink? A few of those were made during the show. Uncomfortable (or hilarious, depending on your sense of humor) jokes aside, the show takes place a few years after Fox’s diagnosis and shows him coping with the struggles of everyday life, but in a funny way.

  • Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake Talk in #Hashtags

Have you ever thought that all of the hashtags people use in Twitter and Facebook posts looks, well, ridiculous? How about if you imagine those posts as conversations (including text shorthand such as “WTF” and “LOL”) that actually take place off the Internet? That certainly sounds a little cringe-worthy, and late night show host Jimmy Fallon and singer/actor Justin Timberlake show us just how awkward it would be if our Twitter conversations took place in real life.

    #Enjoy:

A well-placed hashtag in a Twitter post certainly serves a purpose, and Twitter even offers its users a tutorial for using them correctly. They are great for marking the subject being discussed or the group the post is targeted to, that way the posts can be easily discovered by other Twitter users. Unfortunately, hashtag overkill happens all too frequently on Twitter and even Facebook (long before Facebook even introduced the hashtag search).

After trying (and failing) to capture the art of overusing hashtags and text shorthand using my own Twitter account, I found a pretty good example of hashtag-overload. Try saying this one out loud:

Most people on Twitter found the “#Hashtag” skit with Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake hilarious, and a few folks are rethinking just how many hashtags they use in their online posts:

And just in case any Twitter users who overuse the heck out of hashtags were a little offended by Fallon and Timberlake’s skit, here is an Xzibit meme that pokes fun at hashtags. Xzibit memes make everything better.

  • Betsy Brandt Talks About Final “Breaking Bad” Moment

Betsy Brandt, as a cast member of one of the most popular, brilliant, and suspenseful shows ever made (ok, I’m a fan), was of course upset when she realized it was all over, as upset as we’ll be on Sunday when the final credits roll. But she can take comfort in the fact that she’s got “The Michael J. Fox Show” to look forward to, and it’s not half as stomach-churning.

“The show doesn’t make me physically ill, whereas I really thought I might throw up on “Breaking Bad”,” she said. “I thought, ‘Oh my God, my chest hurts. I don’t feel well, I don’t feel well.’ On “Breaking Bad” we laugh a lot when the cameras aren’t rolling, and on this show we laugh a lot when the cameras aren’t rolling and then I get to laugh when they are rolling too.”

Brandt also talked a bit about shooting her final scene with Walt, played by Bryan Cranston, and says that she couldn’t take it all in while she was in character. Once the director yelled cut, however, it was a different story.

“I wasn’t thinking ‘Oh this is the end,’” she said. “I was thinking about the moment. But then after it was over I just thought, ‘Oh my God. That’s it.’ And then Bryan Cranston was there and he was standing out of my sight line off to the side just staring at me and holding his AK-47 with like his Heisenberg killer look. It was very, very funny.”

Brandt didn’t give any hints as to what’s going to happen in Sunday night’s episode, but anyone who’s been paying attention knows it’s not going to end well for everyone. She says if she had things her way, everyone would win.

“My ending would probably be completely Pollyanna so it’s good I don’t write the show because I want them all to win. I want them all to survive and win,” she said.

The show, which has run for five glorious years, took home an Emmy for Best Drama this year; the actors all had several nominations between them, but Anna Gunn–who plays the much-hated Skylar–was the only one to take home a trophy. As happy as she was for Gunn, Brandt says she thought for sure the boys had it in the bag.

“I thought for sure, for sure, we had Best Supporting Actor locked up between Aaron and Jonathan. I was giddy about Jonathan being nominated this year; I can’t say enough good things about him. So I was stunned we didn’t get that. And then when Bryan didn’t win, I turned to Bob Odenkirk and said, “I’m dead inside.” I felt nothing. I just felt like it wasn’t going to go our way again, and every year I want to see Vince Gilligan make that speech. So when they said Breaking Bad, I was so surprised [starts to cry]. I was just so happy for my TV family, and I’m emotional about it because I know the show is airing for the last time on Sunday. I felt like this was our year to win and if we didn’t this year, we probably wouldn’t. I just so wanted that for Breaking Bad because I’m so proud of this show and Vince is one of the kindest people in the world so I really wanted that moment for him,” she said.

I think most of us can commiserate. Tune in to AMC this Sunday at 10 p.m. to watch all that you love be carried away.

  • Candace Cameron Bure Reunites With “Full House” Cast Members

Candace Cameron Bure, who played D.J. on the ’80s sitcom “Full House”, has moved on from the role that made her famous…but that doesn’t mean her fans are ready to let it go.

Bure attended the Starlight Awards on Wednesday–an organization that helps families with sick children–and was reunited with two of her former castmates, John Stamos and Bob Saget. The actors talked about what it’s been like to always be attached to those characters in the minds of the fans, and say it’s really not a bad thing.

“It’s like being in a Big Bird suit,” Saget said, “but it’s an honor having done a show that so many people love. It is a part of culture and it’s not going away. Little kids are watching it now like it just started, so it’s really quite funny. The biggest compliment I get, me especially because I’m the oldest, is, ‘You look the same!’ I’m like, ‘No I don’t, dude, I’m all older and puffy,’ but they’re like, ‘No, no.’

Stamos agrees, saying that if it helps him with charities like Starlight, it can only be a good thing.

“I’ve done so much work since then, but it just doesn’t ever go away. I never tried to run from it, but I’ve really embraced it the last 10 years,” he said. “I’m proud of it and then main thing is that I really feel that Full House helped a lot with Starlight and we helped a lot of kids through Full House through the Uncle Jesse thing to make a lot of kids happy, I could be called worse, right?”

The cast actually had a bigger reunion last September, minus the Olsen twins. Stamos had said before the meetup that he was hoping they could all get together while they were still looking good.

“I think if we’re going to do anything, we should do it while we’re all still looking okay. We should get together and do reunion for TV Land or something,” he said. “I don’t know. It’s 25 years this September since it first started airing, and no matter what I do, that’s how people think of me. I’ve tried in the past to forget it and not be associated with it, but I’ve since learned to embrace it.”

  • Duck Dynasty Shirt Landed a Student in Hot Water

As the Duck Commander guys say on A&E’s Duck Dynasty, “You can’t spell ‘stupid’ without ‘S,I,” and that’s a sentiment that many people are feeling after a high school student was forced to take off his Duck Dynasty shirt. The shirt features the popular Uncle Si Robertson with one of his funny sayings, “I will hurt you physically and metaphysically.” School officials at Dinwiddie High School in Virginia found the shirt threatening to the other students.

Hunter Spain and his family are huge Duck Dynasty fans, the popular show that follows a bunch of self-proclaimed redneck millionaires around watching them do everything from conduct business to duck hunting. “For this to be considered as a threat to the school,” said Edna-Jo Spain, Hunter’s mother, “I couldn’t understand it. Anybody that ever watches Duck Dynasty knows that Si Robertson is famous for his little funny slogans.”

Considering Duck Dynasty is one of the most popular shows on TV right now, it’s hard to believe that the people at the school would take it seriously, but Hunter was given the choice to turn his Duck Dynasty shirt inside out or go home and change. He opted for the latter and said, “I’m not going to look stupid in front of all of these young ladies in the school. So, I decided to get a different t-shirt.”

The school has released a statement on the offending Duck Dynasty shirt, and they said that it simply violated dress code. “If you are a Duck Dynasty fan you understand the meaning of the shirt,” said David Clark, school superintendent. “But if you haven’t watched Duck Dynasty you may question if the shirt implies violence. As a school division, we would like to keep our slogans on student shirts as non-violent as possible.”

What do you think about the Duck Dynasty shirt? Respond below. A lot of Twitter users weren’t too happy about the decision:

  • Michael J. Fox Returns To Television With New Show

Michael J. Fox has returned to television and will be the star of his own show, The Michael J. Fox Show. Michael J. Fox is a film and television actor mostly known for his work on the show Family Ties, as well as the Back To The Future trilogy, which was very popular in the 1980’s. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991 and revealed the news to the public in 1999, retiring from acting shortly after. He was starring on the hit show Spin City at the time.

The disease was simply too hard on his career and he was unable to operate in a role that required him to do anything without having his symptoms, such as involuntary movements, start to kick in. He is finally able to conquer that obstacle starting this fall with his new sitcom. The show will feature him as a family man and aging dad that also has Parkinson’s. When it was first reported that Fox was planning to return to television, it was big news in the television world with the networks going crazy wanting to pick it up, and eventually NBC ordered the proejct directly to series without a pilot, which is very rare in recent times, mentions TV Guide.

The show, since it has Fox is the titular character, will be loosely based on his own life as a husband, father, public figure, and as someone with Parkinson’s. He will also play a beloved New York City newsman. The Los Angeles Times states that after retiring five years earlier, after a Parkinson’s-related, rolling-chair incident, he has been hanging around the house, spending more time with his family than his family would like. As a result, he decides to return to work and that is where the show picks up.

His co-star Wendell Pierce is very excited for the new show and shared his thoughts on twitter.

Michael J. Fox has been slowly making his way back into the spotlight of television after having a recurring role on The Good Wife and a small part on Rescue Me. The Michael J. Fox show will premieres tonight on NBC at 9 p.m. Everyone make sure to tune in and see how Michael J. Fox has changed, after over a decade away from the small screen. Fans of the hit series Breaking Bad will also recognize his wife, played by Betsy Brandt, from her role as Marie Schrader.

  • When Will ‘American Horror Story’ Season 2 (Asylum) Hit Netflix?

With the third season of American Horror Story (Coven) on the way, fans are wondering when the last season is going to hit Netflix. We haven’t heard a date for when it will be available for streaming yet, but it does come to DVD on October 8th, and Netflix confirms that it too will have the discs available on that date.

You might think that we could expect Season 2 to become available for streaming at the same time, but that remains to be seen. Netflix has been a little late getting some of the FX shows this season. It still doesn’t have the last seasons of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia or Sons of Anarchy available for streaming, though they’re both currently available on DVD, and the new seasons have already started.

They are still getting FX content, however. Last year’s season of The League recently made its Netflix streaming debut, and the latest season of Louie just became available.

I would imagine we’ll be seeing American Horror Story: Asylum hitting Netflix streaming sometime within the next couple months. Keep in mind, the second season was already underway on FX last year before Netflix announced the availability of Season 1 in November.

Season 3 will debut on FX on October 9th. Here’s star Angela Bassett talking to Arsenio Hall:

  • “Law & Order: SVU” Premiere Really Affected Actress

“Law & Order: SVU” premiered its 15th season on Wednesday night, and the show’s reputation for pushing boundaries has fans buzzing on Twitter and Facebook today. It was so shocking, in fact, that one of the show’s actresses says it really affected her to the point that she was “nervous” to go to work.

“It was, without a doubt, the most difficult episode I ever shot in 15 years, and it was unlike anything I’ve ever done,” Mariska Hargitay said. “But I have to tell you, after 15 years, to be nervous and scared and excited to go to work—it’s a pretty great thing.”

Hargitay–who plays Detective Olivia Benson on the show–opened the premiere by being held at gunpoint by a serial rapist, a storyline that picked up where last season left off. One of the hardest things about shooting such an emotionally charged scene, she says, is the invisible line between wanting to make it as realistic as possible and keeping it from affecting you in a negative way.

“When you’re acting, your body doesn’t know the difference of acting or being in reality, and you try to keep it real…I think you pretty much play the what-if game. It’s just about believing it. I think that’s why you study your whole life to be focused and be present,” she said.

The episode sent fans to Twitter to post about their anxiety as they sat on the edges of their seats (WARNING: possible spoilers). Meanwhile, there’s Emmy talk for Hargitay’s performance.
