  • ‘House Of Cards’ Season 3 Script Is Now 1/13 Complete

It looks like the first episode of the third season of House of Cards has now been written.

Creator Beau Willimon tweeted on Friday:

On Saturday, Willimon held a 30-minute Q&A on Twitter. He didn’t reveal much in the way of details about the third season, but the subject did come up a few times.

When asked how long it would take to finish writing the season, he said, “Typically takes us about 7 or 8 months to write a season. But we start filming before we finish.”

He said they’ll “often go through six or seven major drafts” and continue to tweak them during rehearsals.

Asked about how many season there will be, he said they’ll simply stop when they reach the natural conclusion.

Filming will begin in “several months,” he said, adding, “knockknock.”

  • ‘The Big Bang Theory’ TV Couple Has Surprise Breakup

CBS’ hit show “The Big Bang Theory” left viewers with a whopping episode before it took its mid-February break for the Winter Olympics. Fan-favorite couple Sheldon and Amy (lovingly referred to as “Shamy”) shared a much-anticipated big kiss, which left fans teetering on the edge of their seat – was Sheldon finally warming up to the idea of having a real, full-fledged woman in his life?

Well, apparently not: in their first episode back Thursday night, Sheldon marches over to Amy’s apartment and calmly tells her they need to “end their relationship.” Sheldon blames Amy for “altering his personality,” much in the way he thinks Penny has changed Leonard.

What prompted the change of heart? The possibility of a dining room table in the apartment, that’s what. While the gang supports the idea, Sheldon, who hates change, does not. He accuses Penny of changing Leonard’s mind. Penny responds by pointing out how much Amy has changed Sheldon, saying that before Amy, he wouldn’t touch another person (much less kiss them!). Sheldon, no doubt feeling the significance of his kiss with Amy and the reality of Penny’s words, decides then to break up with Amy. “I don’t want to be more affectionate and open-minded,” he admits.

How does Amy take this? “I’m not surprised,” she says cooly. “Enjoy your life. Where do I sign?” she asks, looking down at a break-up agreement on Sheldon’s iPad. Amy, tipped off by pal Penny, knew of Sheldon’s plan and knew he was being manipulated by Leonard. “He knew as your girlfriend I wasn’t going to stand by and let him bring a table into your apartment,” she says in the episode. “I mean, a table? Come on!”

Sheldon, thoroughly convinced that Leonard’s manipulation prompted the break-up, cancels the agreement before Amy can sign and takes her back to the apartment to confront Leonard. Sheldon tells the group his relationship with Amy is “stronger than ever,’ which puts fans worries to rest! The beloved Shamy lives on to see another episode.

The episode went on to earn CBS 17.5 million viewers, the most watched show of the night. Coming in second was “The Millers” at 11.2 million viewers and “Two and a Half Men,” in third with 10 million – both CBS shows, proving the network has a solid Thursday night lineup.

  • Arthur Chu, Controversial Jeopardy Contestant, Wins Again

Arthur Chu gained a great deal of social attention during his first-run on Jeopardy when he appeared on the popular game show in January. Chu made headlines for his odd playing style on the show, and many people even criticized his performances, saying that he was not a fun player to watch.

Chu is an insurance compliance worker by night, and a voice-over actor by day. He is 30 years old, and before returning to the show last night, he had already accumulated a total of $102,800 in winnings.

He won his first four appearances on Jeopardy, which began on January 28th. In last night’s appearance on the show, he dominated the competition with his unique style where he goes for the biggest clues first. He earned $20,800 in his return to the show, and had more than four times the total of both of his opponents heading into final jeopardy.

Earlier this month Arthur Chu said “I can understand it’s less pleasant to watch, but the producers weren’t paying me to make the show pleasant to watch. If you were playing for fun, you could talk about poor sportsmanship, but within the rules, it’s about winning. If you don’t like it, change the rules.”

Some people have called him a villain, and has received a fair amount of hate from Jeopardy’s fans, but he continues to dominate his opponents on the long-running game show. As he continues to make big money on Jeopardy, Chu already has positive things in mind to do with his earnings. He hopes to donate some of his winnings to a research foundation in order to find a cure for fibromyalgia, a disease that his wife suffers from.

While most contestants tend to go from the top of the board to the bottom, Arthur Chu mixes things up, and utilizes something called “game theory economics,” which may have debunked the Jeopardy system.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dqMX48S6_w

He is also one of the most talked-about contestants since Ken Jennings, who was able to win 74 games in 2004. None of the other contestants have been able to keep up with him, and in his first four appearances, he even interrupted host Alex Trebek on multiple occasions. He chooses answers from around the board seemingly at random, with the hopes that he will find the daily doubles, and even if he does not know the answer, he will prevent others from getting them.

Arthur Chu is a resident of Broadview Heights, which is a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. His masterful strategy has been an unbeatable one for his opponents so far, and he even forced a tie on purpose in order to secure a spot for himself on the next episode of the show. What could possibly cause him to lose?

  • Lisa Edelstein Will Star In Upcoming Scripted Series On Bravo

In newly announced television news, Lisa Edelstein will be starring in a new show that will air on Bravo. It will be the first scripted series to air on the network after several reality shows in recent years.

Bravo had been looking for the right scripted series for the past three years, and the network feels that they have found it with the new dramedy titled Girlfriends’ Guide To Divorce. The show has just the right amount of comedy and drama, and can also be compared to its reality series in terms of subject matter.

Before the new Edelstein show, Bravo has been able to pull in audiences through their two flagship franchises, the Real Housewives franchise and Top Chef. In addition to Lisa Edelstein, the show will also star former stand-up comedian and comedy actress Jeneane Garofalo.

Girlfriends’ Guide To Divorce will have a 13-episode season, and feature Edelstein in the role of Abby, a self-help book author in her early 40s. She continues to hide the fact that she is separated from her husband, and embarks on her new life as a single woman in LA, where she ends up seeking advice from her divorced friends, including the character played by Garofalo.

Frances Berwick, the president of Bravo and Oxygen Media, spoke of Lisa Edelstein’s role when saying “Edelstein owns the role of Abby.” She also expects that the audience will be able to relate to her well, with the country’s divorce rate hovering at 50 percent. The president wants viewers to stay tuned as they continue to develop new types of shows, and are looking to diversify their schedule.

Lisa Edelsetin is known to most people as Dr. Lisa Cuddy on House M.D., but she has also appeared briefly on many other shows, and a handful of films. She began her television career in 1992 with an episode of L.A. Law, and has appeared other big shows such as The West Wing, Frasier, The Good Wife, and several others.

The new series is scheduled to premiere during the 2015 season, although the date is currently unknown. Berwick can see the show being able to pair up with a number of reality shows that they already have planned for the future schedule.

  • Mark Wahlberg Is Bringing Another Show To A&E

Mark Wahlberg continues to do big things, and has just inked a deal with A&E for a second show to air on the network. He has recently worked with the network on The Wahburgers, a reality show about the Wahlberg family.

He has been seen in the role of the producer on a number of occasions before, and will do so again with the new show. Mark Wahlberg has previously been a producer on HBO’s Entourage, which saw him as a guest star on select episodes, and he is currently a producer on Boardwalk Empire, which also airs on HBO.

Wahlberg’s new show is called Breaking Boston, and is described as a docudrama. He has modeled much of the series on his own life and personal experiences that he has had in his hometown of Boston.

The show will follow a group of four blue-collar women in their twenties, as they try break the cycle of their peers in a town where education, employment, and opportunities are hard to come by.

Mark Wahlberg was most recently seen on the big screen in Lone Survivor, and has received Oscar nominations for both The Departed and The Fighter.

He was recently chosen as the host of the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. While it may seem like an odd fit for such a big action star, he is also a big family man, and will see the opportunity as a change of pace from his usual films.

Speaking on the characters of the show, Mark Wahlberg said “These are real women telling their original stories of trying to break out of what’s expected of them. The odds are difficult, but I believe they can make it.”

In addition to Wahlberg, the long list of executive producers includes Stephen Levison, Bill Thompson, Stephanie Drachkovich, Jennifer Colbert, Lily Neumeyer and Devon Graham. It is also brought to viewers by 44 Blue Productions.

A&E will debut the upcoming Mark Wahlberg production, Breaking Boston, on March 13.

  • Game of Thrones Trailer “Vengeance” Is Out

Game of Thrones Trailer “Vengeance” Is Out

Have you seen the latest trailer for the upcoming season of Game of Thrones? I have and I must say that it looks promising.

Of course as a fan of the series (and someone who is impatiently waiting for George R.R. Martin to finish the next book…) it’s exciting to get a hint at what comes next. If you’d read the books, you know that a few major events go down this season.

If you haven’t read the books, I won’t spoil it for you. Like “The Red Wedding”, some things just have to be seen to get the fully experience. So brace yourselves…that’s all I’m going to say.

As for this latest trailer, it’s clear that everyone who survived the violent close of Season 3 is back.

In the trailer, we here young Arya Stark reciting the names of four individuals: Joffrey, Cersei, and Tywin Lannister, and the “Red Woman”. She says that she has trouble sleeping until she says these names as they are the names of people she intends to kill out of a need for vengeance.

“Vengeance” is the name of the trailer, leading us to wonder if Arya is successful in her quest. Or perhaps someone else with an ax to grind.

We see fan favorite Tyrion Lannister in shackles and then later a dungeon, where he tells someone off screen that if they’re looking for justice, they’ve come “to the wrong place”.

There’s also a glimpse of Sansa Stark in a boat. Do we dare hope she’s finally escaped the cruel Joffrey? Speaking of which, we keep getting glimpses of his marriage to the beautiful Margaery Tyrell. One wonders if she will fare any better than the hapless Sansa.

Finally there’s the Khaleesi, Daenerys Targaryen, who given the events that preceded The Game of Thrones series has one of the best cases for vengeance.

She also has dragons, which we get a brief look at, and who seem to have grown quite a bit.

She is shown consolidating her power and it seems she intends to at some point make life a living hell for the entirety of the population of Westeros.

There is a lot to look forward to in the next season, and I almost envy those who don’t know what to expect. Almost. Having experienced the “Red Wedding” and other stunning events in text before seeing it on screen, I am sort of glad I had some preparation.

    Again…brace yourselves!

  • Orange Is The New Black Releases Teaser Trailer, Reveals Season 2 Premiere Date

How many people have been going crazy wondering about the second season of Orange Is The New Black, and when it will finally be available to stream?

The show is one of the first to be streamed exclusively for Netflix, and became an instant hit for its unique subject matter, and the strong acting from its large ensemble cast.

The show was nominated for a handful of awards after its first season, and Taylor Schilling, who plays Piper Chapman, received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress In A Drama Series.

Well there is some good news, and some bad news. The good news is that fans of the show are finally aware of when season 2 will be available, but the bad news is that it will not be available until June 6th. The show is created Jenji Kohan, who was also the face behind the popular Showtime drama Weeds.

For those that somehow missed season one of the acclaimed Netflix series, Orange Is The New Black tells the story of a woman whose drug smuggling past catches up with her, and is forced to spend time in a women’s prison.

The show is also a true story, and is based on the memoir Orange Is The New Black: My Year In A Women’s Prison by Piper Kerman.

The show has been celebrated for its outstanding ensemble cast, and includes people such as Jason Biggs, known for hit comedies such as American Pie, and Laura Prepon, known mostly for That 70’s Show. Taylor Schilling plays the main character on the show, and is joined in the prison by a variety of colorful characters, while Natasha Lyonne, a co-star of Biggs’ from American Pie, is also an inmate on the show.

Netflix just announced Orange Is The New Black’s season 2 premiere date along with a teaser trailer that is brief, but filled with everyone’s favorite characters, and will surely get everyone even more excited for season 2.

House Of Cards, the other hit show that premiered on Netflix last season, was finally made available for streaming yesterday. The new episodes had everyone going crazy, and even President Barack Obama shared his excitement for the show, tweeting that he did not want any spoilers.

The political drama follows Frank and Claire Underwood (Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright) in their rise to the top, and the obstacles that they face along the way, including reporter Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara). Frank Underwood plays a congressman from South Carolina, and the success of the show has already officially secured a third season that is in the works for next year.

With the help of shows such as Orange Is The New Black and House Of Cards, Netflix has become a big factor in television awards, and in rankings, just in the past year. In this year’s Golden Globe awards, Netflix was second in nominations to only HBO, and Netflix also has more subscribers in the US than HBO.

Does season 2 of Orange Is the New Black have the ability to top season 1? How many people plan to binge the show when it is released on June 6th? As with other Netflix shows, all 13 episodes of the second season will be available to watch immediately.

  • Yahoo: People Are Searching For Netflix 71x More Than HBO

It would appear that consumers are very interested in the competition between Netflix and HBO, as searches for the two rivals are seeing a significant uptick, according to Yahoo.

“People are interested in the ongoing ‘war’ between the two services as [netflix hbo] is spiking off the charts this week,” a Yahoo spokesperson tells WebProNews. “Over the past 30 days, it looks like Netflix has been more on people’s minds as [netflix] is searched for 42x more than [hbo go] and 71x more than [hbo].”

“Men dominate searches for both, but women tend to search more for Netflix than HBO services,” the spokesperson says. “When it comes to actual original programs, HBO’s [true detective] has been searched for over 2x more than [house of cards] over this past month. However, [house of cards] has beat out [girls hbo] by nearly 3x over the past month on Yahoo.”

House of Cards ranks highly for returning TV show searches in general over the past thirty days, coming out well ahead of HBO’s Game of Thrones.

There have been a great deal of searches for the Game of Thrones: Season 4 trailer.

Based on the earnings reports from Netflix and Time Warner, Netflix appears to be winning the subscriber battle, at least here in the U.S. with Netflix reporting 33.4 million domestic subscribers compared to HBO’s 29 million for the end of 2013. HBO, however, remains more profitable.

  • Netflix Exclusively Gets ‘Star Wars : The Clone Wars’ Final Season, Director’s Cuts Of Past Seasons

Netflix announced on Thursday that it has secured an exclusive licensing agreement with the Disney/ABC Television Group for Star Wars content, which will see Netflix debuting the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars “The Lost Missions” on March 7th in the U.S. and Canada.

Accompanying the thirteen-episode season will be the director’s cuts of seasons 1 – 5 and the feature film.

According to Netflix, in the final season of The Clone Wars will reveal “some of the deepest mysteries of the conflict between the light and the dark sides of the Force.”

“An intrepid clone trooper discovers a shocking secret, Anakin Skywalker’s closest relationship is tested to its limits and what Master Yoda discovers while investigating the disappearance of a Jedi could forever change the balance of power in the galaxy,” the company says.

It’s a multi-year agreement, which also makes Netflix the exclusive subscription service for the whole Clone Wars series.

Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos said, “Star Wars is one of the most iconic franchises of all time and this series joins a long line of Disney content that Netflix members are and will continue to enjoy for years to come. The Clone Wars marks an important moment as Netflix welcomes more and more first-run content from The Walt Disney Company and its subsidiaries.”

This marks the first time that any Star Wars content has been available on Netflix’s streaming service. It also continues the relationship between Disney and Netflix, which will see several original series based on Marvel characters next year, as well as U.S. exclusivity for first-run, live-action and animated movies from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and beginning in 2016, Lucasfilm.

  • Netflix Has 4.4 Million More U.S. Subscribers Than HBO (As Of Year’s End)

Much has been made of the competition between Netflix and HBO.

Recently, NPD Group released a report indicating that Netflix was gaining ground against premium channels like HBO, indicating the such channels were losing subscribers. HBO called bullshit on the report, which was mysteriously removed from NPD’s site.

Later, during an earnings call, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings would suggest that HBO is Netflix’s “bitch”. When the company released its earnings, it also announced that it has 44 million subscribers. 33.4 million of them are in the U.S.

Time Warner has now released its own earnings, and revealed that HBO has about 29 million U.S. members.

Still, HBO remains more profitable. Find Time Warner’s release here.

Netflix says it will spend $3 billion on TV and film content this year. It also announced a $400 million senior note offering.

  • This Guy’s Wife Made Some ‘House Of Cards’ Valentine’s Cookies

As you may know, House of Cards returns to Netflix with its second season on Valentine’s Day. As a result, a lot of dates are probably going to involve lovers sitting in living rooms watching hours of television.

That is presumably the plan for this guy whose wife is preparing for the event with some House of Cards-themed Valentine’s cookies.

Showrunner Beau Willimon and actress Constance Zimmer (Janine) approve:

There’s a lot of excitement building around the second season. The parodies are even coming out already.

Still, it won’t be an Underwood closing the NASDAQ on the 14th. Netflix is sending Clifford the Big Red Dog.
