  • Tatiana Maslany Finally Gets Emmy Nomination For “Orphan Black”

Tatiana Maslany finally has the validation she has deserved for so long.

Since her beginning with Orphan Black, Tatiana Maslany has blown audiences away with her raw talent.

Now, she is confirmed by the Emmy folks to be truly amazing with a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

After nominations were announced Thursday, Twitter went wild with congratulations for Tatiana Maslany.

Tatiana Maslany even posted a heartfelt thanks to her fans.

“To me, it’s an awesome honor and really unexpected,” Tatiana Maslany said after her nomination was announced.

Tatiana Maslany was quick to thank her fans in the interview as well, saying, “The thing that I find exciting is the fans have always been so supportive of us, and this Emmy nomination means a lot to them. So it’s not necessarily just for me. It’s very much about the fans.”

Tatiana Maslany seemed surprised that her role in Orphan Black was in the running with ladies like Claire Danes for Homeland, Taraji P. Henson for Empire, and Robin Wright for House of Cards.

Tatiana Maslany said of her fellow nominees, “These people that I’m nominated with are in high dramas. It’s very crazy. Our show has broken the barrier of just being a sci-fi cult show.”

That’s not the only barrier Tatiana Maslany and others of her ilk are breaking.

For example, in an interview for the Los Angeles Times, Tatiana Maslany explained how her character and others are changing the way women’s roles are perceived.

Tatiana Maslany said, “We’re breaking stereotypes about how women can behave on TV. In the past women have been placed in so many oppressive boxes — you can be the sideline character or the love interest.”

She added, “I love that on this show, the women I play are dark, weird, funny, scary, daring and vulnerable. It’s not just ‘strong,’ not just ‘feminine.’”

  • Tatiana Maslany Robbed Of Star Wars Role

Tatiana Maslany Robbed Of Star Wars Role

Tatiana Maslany has been passed over for the female lead in the new Star Wars stand-alone movie.

While earlier reports had her pretty much pegged as a sure thing, she was beat out by Felicity Jones.

Jones, of The Theory of Everything fame, beat out not only Tatiana Maslany, but also Rooney Mara.

As the star of Orphan Black, Tatiana Maslany already had that whole clone thing going for her.

Fans of Tatiana Maslany had hoped that her clone experience would somehow put her ahead of the game.

Of course, we don’t really know what the new Star Wars stand-alone will be about. And we don’t even have an idea as to the the focus of the new film.

    But, you know. Clones.

Oh well, Tatiana Maslany is great in everything she has done so far. Surely her talents will garner her plenty of enviable roles in the future.

The new Star Wars stand-alone is on track to be a winner, with Gareth Edwards at the helm as director and Chris Weitz as the story’s apt scribe.

Now, with Felicity Jones on board and rumors circulating that Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez are on the interest list for the male lead, what could go wrong?

Tatiana Maslany can just sit back and wait for the amazing roles to come to her, anyway.

Tatiana Maslany should, for that very reason, go ahead and get used to walking the red carpet. The lovely Canadian was a little overwhelmed at the 2015 SAG Awards recently.

Tatiana Maslany said that whole experience was “surreal.”

She added, “It’s crazy to be here. I’m so new to this whole thing, so it’s always very shocking.”

What do you think of Tatiana Maslany being passed up for Felicity Jones? Uncalled for or understandable?

  • Tatiana Maslany: “Orphan Black” Star Reportedly Won’t Take On “Star Wars”

Tatiana Maslany has shot to stardom very quickly with her role on Orphan Black, and she’s gained some loyal fans in the process. So when rumors began to circulate that she was in talks to take the lead in a stand-alone Star Wars film in 2016, everyone on the web went nuts trying to get confirmation that she was at least involved.

Unfortunately for Maslany’s fans, it looks like the role will be going to Felicity Jones instead. While nothing has been confirmed, several sites are reporting the news, including Screen Rant and The Mary Sue. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jones made a big impression on Disney execs even among such talented actresses as Tatiana Maslany and Rooney Mara, who also reportedly auditioned. Jones previously earned attention for her Oscar-nominated performance in The Theory Of Everything and can currently be seen in True Story, starring James Franco and Jonah Hill.

The film has a tentative release date of December 16, 2016 and will be directed by Gareth Edwards. As for the male lead in the film, several names are being bandied about, including Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad.

Rumors about Tatiana Maslany joining the Star Wars film began around the time she had to leave an off-Broadway play called The Way We Get By due to “scheduling conflicts”; Amanda Seyfried took over her role.

Maslany earned some attention at this year’s SAG Awards, where she declined to show off her hands on the “mani-cam” because she didn’t have time to get a manicure before the show. The actress, who is from Canada, says the awards show circuit is a strange scene for someone so new to Hollywood.

“It’s crazy to be here. I’m so new to this whole thing, so it’s always very shocking. It’s just a whole other world entirely. We don’t really have the whole star system thing in Canada. We’re a bit more low-key about it. It’s pretty surreal!” Tatiana Maslany said.

  • Amanda Seyfried Replaces Tatiana Maslany In Play

Amanda Seyfried will be replacing Tatiana Maslany in The Way We Get By, an off-Broadway play by Neil LaBute.

This will be Amanda Seyfried’s first off-Broadway show.

The Way We Get By is about two attractive people who hook up after a wedding.

Amanda Seyfried will be directed by Leigh Silverman, who was a Tony nominee last season for Violet.

Tatiana Maslany, the star of Orphan Black, left the role due to scheduling conflicts.

Amanda Seyfried will star opposite Thomas Sadoski.

Amanda Seyfried had a starring role as Cosette in Les Miserables, as well as roles in Mama Mia!, and of course, Mean Girls.

The play previews on April 28th, opens on May 20th, and runs through June 14th.

Amanda Seyfried also stars in the new movie Ted 2.

Amanda Seyfried was not in the first super classy movie, but she has been added on to this one.

The movie follows Ted, the crude stuffed bear belonging to Mark Wahlberg, as he fights for his rights to have a baby with his human wife, Tammy Lynn.

Seth MacFarlane returned to direct Amanda Seyfried in the sequel after Ted earned a shocking $549.4 million worldwide.

It just doesn’t seem conceivable that so many people paid to see that movie.

Oh, well. Surely Amanda Seyfried will add a little class to that franchise, if it’s at all possible.

What do you think about Amanda Seyfried’s new off-Broadway role?

Amanda Seyfried Makes Her Debut Off-Broadway Replacing Tatiana Maslany in ‘The Way We Get By’

Amanda Seyfried is set to star in her first off-Broadway production in Neil LaBute’s The Way We Get By, replacing Tatiana Maslany.

Second Stage Theater said Thursday that Amanda Seyfried is taking over for Mislay, after the Orphan Black star had to pull out of the production due to filming schedule conflicts.

Amanda Seyfried will star opposite Thomas Sadoski — best-known for his roles in Wild, The Newsroom and as a 2009 Tony Award-nominated actor for LaBute’s Reasons to Be Pretty — at New York’s Second Stage Theatre.

The play recounts the tale of Beth and Doug, two people “who have no difficulty getting dates. But the morning after their steamy hookup at a drunken wedding reception, they find themselves grappling with the rules of attraction, sex and society as they consider what they really know about one another,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Tony-nominated Leigh Silverman is directing the play, which begins previews on April 28. The world premiere opening is slated for May 20. The limited engagement runs through June 14.

  • Tatiana Maslany Tests For “Star Wars” Stand-Alone

Tatiana Maslany is reportedly testing for a female lead role in the first Star Wars stand-alone movie.

The young actress, who stars as multiple replicants in BBC America’s hit series Orphan Black, is among a list of people that are rumored to be testing for this movie.

Others include Rooney Mara of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo fame and Felicity Jones from The Theory of Everything.

The focus of this stand-alone movie has yet to be revealed, but it is to be directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla).

This movie is one of two that are in the works so far. The other is one directed by Josh Trank.

Garry Whitta reportedly wrote the first draft of the script, then jumped ship. Rumors quickly surfaced that Simon Kinberg, who is already working on the Josh Trank stand-alone movie along with Lawrence Kasdan, would take over writing.

However, sources say that Kinberg will be involved, but will not really take over the job. I mean the guy is already busy creating the X-Men universe and is writing the X-Men: Apocalypse script for Fox.

He is also overseeing some Fantastic Four reshoots for which he was in charge of the rewriting.

So, the project is currently searching for a writer.

As far as which roles Tatiana Maslany and Rooney Mara are testing for, we must wait to find out, but the movie does already have a release date of December 16th, 2016.

What do you think about Tatiana Maslany or Rooney Mara for a lead role in a Star Wars movie? Which one do you think is a better actress all around?

  • Tatiana Maslany Ready for Season 2 of ‘Orphan Black’

Tatiana Maslany is one of the quickest rising, yet most unheard of stars in television currently. The 28-year-old Saskatchewan, Canada native has been in the acting business since 1997, yet most of her roles over the course of those 17 years have been relatively minor. In 2013, Maslany appeared on the hit NBC comedy Parks and Recreation. Unknown to her at the time, though, Maslany was also currently working as the lead actress on a television series which would launch her into stardom – Orphan Black.

While Orphan Black received less than one million viewers in its first season run on BBC America, that does not delegitimize the show’s potential for success.

After the first season of Orphan Black ended, some 5.2 million viewers tuned in to the show through other mediums, mostly on-demand and DVDs. Since the show ended last summer, it has obtained a cult following, with #TheCloneClub pushing the show to prominence.

The show would be nowhere, however, without the outstanding acting by Tatiana Maslany. Maslany’s role on Orphan Black forces her to not only play her single identity on the show, but also the identities of 11 different clones. The labor and intensity of such an act earned Maslany a Golden Globe nomination in 2013 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Dramatic Television Series.

Going into Season 2, Maslany feels more confident in being able to portray all 11 clones in their own unique ways. She credits that confidence to understanding the characters better now that she has one season under her belt.

“I know these women now, so it was about going deeper with it and challenging them and not getting stuck in just going to do the Alison thing. It’s like what happens when Alison is thrown into this situation. And we left them all at very tense places, kind of high-stakes places, so there was so much to work with,” Maslany explained.

While Maslany is more familiar with the diverse cast of characters she has to portray in each episode, it doesn’t mean that the preparation to achieve such a task is any easier. When asked how she handles the difficulty in portraying multiple characters on the same set in one day, Maslany responded:

“I kind of have to think about all of them. As much as I can I try to block them out, but I do block the scene as all of them first off, so I have to think about what maybe the impulse might be on that side or who I want to have move into the space at that time or how something is gonna play out. I kind of have to direct it ahead of time in a way and have it all in my head. I try to sort of forget it, forget, forget, forget. And then just be there. Simplifying it in my head as much as possible is the way to do it. Just breathing and being there as that character, and letting that come out, with an awareness that I do have to move on from that person at the end of it.”

Maslany’s co-star Jordan Gavaris understands and appreciates the daunting nature of Maslany’s performances: “I don’t think there’s another actor right now, especially in her age range, who could have tackled something like this. The value of getting to work with an actor of her caliber is not lost on me.”

Orphan Black‘s co-creators Graeme Manson and John Fawcett feel the same way. “She’s a total natural, a working prodigy… Everyone wants to do their best work because she’s working harder than everyone here, and everyone knows she’s doing something special.”

If one is intrigued by the concept of a sci-fi show centered around a cloning project gone wrong, one can view the episodes on Amazon Prime Instant Video, which has locked down an exclusive online streaming deal for the show.

If you do decide to tune in, however, expediency must be a priority. Season 2 of Orphan Black airs on BBC America starting this Saturday, April 19.
