  • Regina King In Shock Over Best Supporting Actress Win At Emmys, Taraji P. Henson Presents Award

Regina King might not have expected her award at the Emmys, but her friend, Taraji P. Henson sure knew how to tip her off.

In the annual awards ceremony that was held last Sunday, Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard served as presenters for the Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series/Movie honor. It was apparent that Henson could not contain her excitement before revealing King as the winner.

In a backstage interview with ET, King spoke fondly about her friendship with Henson. She also revealed that Henson’s premature reaction gave the idea that it was her name she’d be calling out.

“I was stunned,” King said. “Because that’s my girl, when she gasped, that’s when my heart started beating fast. She’s gotta be doing that for me, it’s gotta be me! And I had no idea she was gonna be doing that category!”

Despite Henson’s giveaway, King’s reaction to her well-deserved win was sincere and priceless. Henson’s reaction to King’s win was equally memorable —  she caught her friend in a tight embrace and cheered her on before she began her speech.

“I should have brought one of these papers all the comedy people had! I was not expecting this,” said King while accepting the award.

“I’m just going to listen to all the love that surrounds me,” King also added.

King, who was up against Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, and Angela Bassett for American Horror Story: Freak Show; Mo’Nique for Bessie, and Zoe Kazan for Olive Kitteridge, won for her role in the ABC crime drama, American Crime. This was King’s first Emmy nomination and win.

“It feels a bit surreal. I’m still digesting,” Regina told ET’s Kevin Frazier backstage. “I really wasn’t expecting it so, it’s so special that Taraji gave it to me.”

King’s son, Ian, served as her date to the awards ceremony. In her speech, she lovingly addressed her son who was sitting in the audience, and gushed about her role as his mother.

“The fact that I get to share this night with you, the best date in the house. You make being a mother my greatest accomplishment. Cheers,” Regina King said.

“I’m very excited about that,” Taraji P. Henson said in a recent interview. “I mean, I watched Vivica before I even got into the business. And she’s always been one that I’ve looked up to, like, ‘God, I want to be able to do what she does.’ So, to be able to work with the person who you’ve admired for so long, it’s just mind-blowing.”

Vivica A. Fox will play the role of Henson’s older sister in the show. Ilene Chaiken, one of the show’s executive producers, said that Fox’s addition to the storyline will further fuel Empire’s dramatic plot.

“Cookie’s other family members are troublesome, to say the least,” she said.

“Cookie’s other family members are troublesome, to say the least,” Chaiken said.

Lee Daniels, Empire’s co-creator, said that there is a possibility that this season will focus on Cookie Lyon’s family in order to set up that spin-off for success.

“I just pray to God … and it’s not even about me. I hope Viola wins. I hope I win,” Henson continued. “Just so we can get past this and we don’t have to say in 2020 or 2030 or 3000, ‘The first’ I mean, come on, really,” Henson said, laughing.

Empire Season 2 premieres September 23.

  • Bobbi Kristina Brown’s Passing: Oprah Winfrey, Taraji P. Henson, and More Share Their Grief

Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away on Sunday at the age of 22. The only child of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, she was in a hospice facility outside of Atlanta, surrounded by close family members and friends, when she died.

It was back on January 31st that Bobbi Kristina was discovered facedown in her bathtub–an eerily familiar scenario to those who remember Whitney Houston’s passing in 2012. She spent several weeks in an Atlanta hospital, after which she was transferred to a nearby rehab facility. When it was determined there was no more doctors could do for Bobbi Kristina, she was moved to the Peachtree Christian Hospice, where she spent almost exactly one month before passing away.

As soon as word broke Sunday evening about Bobbi Kristina’s passing, celebrities starting weighing in on the untimely death.

Oprah Winfrey was among the first to share her thoughts on social media.

Empire star Taraji P. Henson shared her feelings, too.

Rosie O’Donnell had no words. She simply shared a photo of Bobbi Kristina.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs shared a short video clip on Instagram of Bobbi Kristina when she was a little girl, in Bobby Brown’s arms with Whitney Houston by their side. He captioned the clip, “Rest in peace #BobbiKristina.”

A video posted by Puff Daddy (@iamdiddy) on

Eryka Badu directed her message of love to both the late Bobbi Kristina and her dad Bobby Brown.

Sherri Shepherd shared her thoughts on motherhood, and shared a sweet photo of Bobbi Kristina with Whitney Houston.

The list of celebrities sharing thoughts about Bobbi Kristina via social media is growing minute by minute. Feelings range from grief to relief at the knowledge that Bobbi Kristina Brown is now reunited in eternity with Whitney Houston.

The Houston family released a statement on Sunday, confirming that Bobbi Kristina had passed away.

“She is finally at peace in the arms of God,” the statement reads. “We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”

One source says an autopsy is scheduled. Many are wondering what–if anything–the results may tell authorities about any physical abuse Bobbi Kristina may have sustained prior to January 31. Boyfriend Nick Gordon was recently named in a $10 million civil lawsuit. That suit alleges he both physically and mentally abused Bobbi Kristina in the days leading up to January 31.

A report surfaced late Sunday saying Nick Gordon was on suicide watch in light of Bobbi Kristina’s passing. His father has since denied those claims.

Hopefully the family of Bobbi Kristina Brown takes solace in the many messages of love and prayers that celebrities and others are sharing via social media. These and their memories are all they can cling to in light of this tragedy.

  • Maggie Gyllenhaal Talks Sex, Nudity at ‘Hollywood Reporter’ Roundtable

Maggie Gyllenhaal dished about both sex and nudity with regard to the film world at a recent Hollywood Reporter roundtable. The conversation also included Taraji P. Henson, Viola Davis, Jessica Lange, Ruth Wilson, and Lizzy Caplan.

As sex and nudity so often do, the points Maggie Gyllenhaal made on the subjects added definite intrigue to the roundtable discussion.

The Honourable Woman star spoke of how she was told on more than once occasion that she didn’t quite live up to Hollywood’s standards for beauty or sexuality.

“When I was really young, I auditioned for this really bad movie with vampires,” Maggie Gyllenhaal shared. “I wore a dress to the audition that I thought was really hot. Then I was told I wasn’t hot enough. My manager at the time said, ‘Would you go back and sex it up a little bit?’ So I put on leather pants, a pink leopard skinny camisole and did the audition again and still didn’t get the part. (Laughter.) After that, I was like, ‘OK, f— this!’”

Sex scenes in films hold a great deal of intrigue for the actress.

“I think sex in film is so interesting,” Maggie Gyllenhall says. “It’s uncomfortable to take your clothes off in front of people you don’t know, but it can be an opportunity for really interesting acting. I’m 37, and I’ve had two babies, and I’m really interested in nudity now.”

Fake doesn’t translate into sexy for Maggie Gyllenhaal. In a world–especially in her Hollywood world–where so many people have undergone cosmetic procedures to capture their eternal youth, there’s something very refreshing about her attitude.

“Isn’t it so much hotter to see a woman on TV who looks like an actual woman, someone whose arms aren’t perfect?” she asks. “I am much more turned on when I see people’s bodies that look like bodies I recognize.”

Maggie Gyllenhaal has grown into an actress that many now revere as not just amazingly talented, but incredibly sexy as well.

Do you suppose her competition from that long-ago vampire movie is still in the acting business? And if so, is she as naturally beautiful as Maggie Gyllenhaal?

  • Scarlett Johansson Will Host ‘Saturday Night Live’ on May 2nd, Heading Toward Five-Timers Club

Scarlett Johansson is hosting Saturday Night Live on May 2nd. This will be the fourth time hosting SNL for the Avengers: Age of Ultron star, and this gig falls on the day after the film hits theaters.

It was announced during this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live, which was hosted by Empire star Taraji P. Henson, that Scarlett Johansson was on deck for the May 2nd episode. No musical guest has yet been announced.

In light of when she is serving as host, could this mean that Scarlett Johansson might break out her Black Widow costume for at least one of the evening’s sketches? It would seem more than likely.

Scarlett Johansson will need to host only one more time after May 2nd in order to become a member of SNL’s coveted five-timers club. So far only 15 people have been ‘inducted’ into the group. They are Ben Affleck, Alec Baldwin, Drew Barrymore, Candice Bergen, Chevy Chase, Danny DeVito, John Goodman, Elliot Gould, Tom Hanks, Buck Henry, Steve Martin, Bill Murray, Paul Simon, Justin Timberlake, and Christopher Walken. The club was first mentioned on Saturday Night Live back in 1990 when Tom Hanks was making his fifth appearance on the show.

Scarlett Johansson last hosted SNL in 2010. Hopefully it won’t be another five years from May 2nd before she becomes a member of the five-timers club.

Will you be checking out Scarlett Johansson when Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters on May 1st? And will you be tuning in the next night to catch her as she hosts SNL–for the fourth time?

  • Raven Symone, Adrienne Bailon: Cheetah Girls Reunion

Raven Symone and Adrienne Bailon–two of the Cheetah Girls from the Disney Channel’s movies, reunited to tape an episode of The Real that airs on Monday, March 9th. It marks the first time in almost nine years that the two have been together on the same screen.

E! reports that there was even a bit of dancing involved during the reunion. Raven Symone reportedly broke into an old dance move that had Adrienne Bailon wondering what she’d been thinking way back when.

“Oh my god,” Bailon screamed before getting up and joining in the dance. “Why did I think this was a hot move?!”

In addition to Adrienne Bailon–Loni Love, Jeannie Mai, Tamera Mowry, and Tamar Braxton also star in The Real. With Raven Symone as a guest, however, it was as if Adrienne went back–way, way back–in time. In addition to nostalgic conversation, the ladies hosted a ‘Cheetah-licious’ dance battle, too, with Tamar Braxton and Tamera Mowry getting in on the action.

Raven Symone stars on Empire these days, with Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson. It’s certainly a far cry from her days as one of the Cheetah Girls, alongside Bailon, as well as Kiely Williams, and Sabrina Bryan. Prior to The Cheetah Girls, Raven Symone starred as Rudy on The Cosby Show.

Raven Symone and the rest of the group starred in The Cheetah Girls and The Cheetah Girls 2, and sang the group’s hit songs including ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Girl Power.’

Fans will no doubt feel a bit nostalgic when tuning in to The Real on Monday when Cheetah Girls stars Raven Symone and Adrienne Bailon come together on stage for the first time in almost nine years.

Will you be tuning in? The Real airs on Fox at 3:00 PM ET.
