  • Armie Hammer, Henry Cavill: ‘Man from U.N.C.L.E.’

Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill star in the upcoming film based on a 1960s TV favorite–The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and a new trailer promoting the movie was just released. Henry Cavill stars as CIA agent Napoleon Solo, while Armie Hammer stars as KGB agent Illya Kuryakin. The two put aside their differences to stop an international crime organization that is set on committing worldwide harm.

Hugh Grant plays the role of the head of U.N.C.L.E., which as those who loved the TV show know means United Network Command for Law and Enforcement.

“They’re both wonderful people and a pleasure to work with,” Cavill says of Armie Hammer and Hugh Grant.

He even admits that lots of joking goes around on set.

“Any funny stories I’m going to keep to myself, though. No telling tales out of school,” Henry Cavill adds.

Guy Ritchie directs The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and Cavill–also known for his role as Superman–calls it “a cool, sexy and especially not heavy Cold War spy thriller.”

In addition to Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, and Hugh Grant, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. will star Alicia Vikander in the lead female role as the daughter of a missing German scientist who helps Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill’s characters infiltrate the international criminal organization. Elizabeth Debicki plays the role of Victoria Vinciguerra, who is the driving force behind a worldwide shipping company with a rather questionable background.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. won’t hit theaters until August 14th, so that gives fans of Armie Hammer, Henry Cavill, Hugh Grant, and more the likely opportunity to see even more trailers promoting the film.

Did you watch The Man from U.N.C.L.E. on TV in the 1960s? Will you likely add this to your list of must-see summer films?

  • Gina Carano And Henry Cavill Break Up Again

The MMA fighter turned actress and the Man of Steel have officially ended their relationship, according to E! News. A source revealed that Gina Carano and Henry Cavill actually broke up “a while ago,” even though the news is just breaking today.

The former Mixed Martial Artist and the British actor began dating in the fall of 2012. The couple split up in the summer of 2013, and Cavill began a short fling with Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco, who later told Cosmopolitan that she was not prepared for the baggage that came with dating the Man of Steel. “I had no one following me until I met Superman. I’ve been in this business for 20 years, and my whole life, I could go anywhere, do anything,” Cuoco admitted. “There had not been one paparazzi photo of me until like several months ago. The recognition was crazy.”

Cavill and Carano reunited in the fall of 2013 and even adopted an Akita puppy from a breeder in Arkansas. The handsome couple apparently made a big impression on the breeder, “It was so great working with Henry and getting to meet him as well as Gina was truly a treat,” the breeder said. “Both Henry and Gina are genuine and a joy to be around. It was truly an honor to add them to our extended family and thank them for their patience in meeting us and our children. It’s not everyday that an A-list celebrity, much less 2 celebrities, come to Beebe, AR to visit.”

Both Cavill and Carano will be busy professionally over the next couple of years. Cavill will put back on the Superman suit and square off against Ben Affleck for the epic blockbuster movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is scheduled to hit theaters in March 2016. Additionally, two Justice League movies have already been announced for 2017 and 2019.

It was also reported today that Carano will join fellow MMA fighter Georges St. Pierre and WWE superstar Dave Bautista in a remake of the 1989 movie Kickboxer, which starred Jean Claude Van Damme.

  • The Word’s Most Expensive Comic Book Was Just Sold On eBay

The Word’s Most Expensive Comic Book Was Just Sold On eBay

“History has been made on eBay,” a spokesperson for the company tells WebProNews.

We reported last month that Action Comics #1 – the comic book that introduced the world to Superman – was to go up for auction on eBay. It’s often considered the “Holy Grail” of comic books. There are believed to be about 50 unrestored original copies in existence. Dealer Darren Adams had one of them, and it was in remarkable condition. Naturally, he decided to see what he could get for it.

The auction ended Sunday night, closing at 6pm PT, with a winning bid of $3.2 million, shattering the previous record of $2.16 million that was set in 2011. The copy is now officially the most expensive comic book in the world, according to Certified Guaranty Company evaluator Mike Brown.

“I’m proud to have owned the most valuable comic book in the world,” said Darren Adams. “Working with eBay on this auction allowed me to share this rare treasure with their global community and ensure the next owner is just as passionate about its place in history.”

“This was a record auction for eBay as it was the most expensive comic book ever sold on our marketplace. The sale of Action Comics #1 is a prime example of how eBay plays a role in popular culture by connecting shoppers to must-have merchandise, including rare and valuable collectibles,” said Gene Cook, General Manager of Emerging Verticals for eBay Marketplaces. “This was an extraordinary opportunity to bring a comic – one that has captured the attention of passionate collectors and casual fans alike. We will continue to bring more of the world’s most unique and compelling merchandise to our passionate and global community of 149 million buyers, at a wide range of accessible price points.”

Some of the proceeds from the auction are being donated to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.

  • Batman V Superman Comic Con Trailer Leaked

You’ve got to hand it to Warner Bros. and DC Comics: They know how to get people excited for the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie.

An amazing feat since most skeptics worried that it would be a bloated failure, a desperate attempt to jump-start the sort of success achieved by their rivals over at Marvel Studios.

Heck, it still might be a bloated failure, but we’ll have to wait until 2016 to know for sure.

After the Batman v. Superman panel at San Diego Comic Con, tongues are wagging and fanboys are quite giddy. It looks like DC achieved the intended effect.

First up was the revelation of Gal Gadot as the iconic Wonder Woman.

While most believed the look was impressive, there were still concerns about her build. We’ll have to wait and see how Gadot does in the film.

Then there was what everyone was hoping and praying for: A movie teaser trailer!

The lights went dark and a short clip from the Batman v Superman movie played.

For those who haven’t seen the trailer and aren’t interested in hunting the leaked version down, this is what happens.

The trailer begins with Batman in the rain on the roof of a building. It’s night time.

Batman pulls a tarp off something. After switching on the power, that “something” is revealed to be the Bat-Signal.

Batman’s eyes are glowing (just like the animated Batman, a first for the character in movies) and he appears to be wearing an armored suit.

The light shines into the night sky and we see the signal rests on…Superman! Superman is floating in the air, and he activates his heat vision.

I dare say he looks almost villainous.

UPDATE: Here is a leaked version of the trailer that was uploaded to YouTube. Enjoy!

  • Action Comics #1 To Hit eBay Auction Next Month

Action Comics #1 To Hit eBay Auction Next Month

eBay just announced that Action Comics #1, considered the “Holy Grail” of comic books, is going to be auctioned off on the site next month.

According to the announcement, there are believed to only be about 50 unrestored original copies of the issue that introduced the world to Superman. Dealer Darren Adams has one of them (apparently the finest known copy), and is about to generate a ton of money from it. He’ll be putting it up for auction on eBay from August 14-24.

The Certified Guaranty Company (CGC) gave Adams’ copy a 9.0 grade, which is the highest its given to any copy of the issue. One other copy got the same grade, and sold for $2,161,000 in 2011. According to eBay, that one had “cream to off-white pages,” while Adams’ has “white pages and is in pristine condition”.

It’s pretty amazing that it could even be in such condition, considering that it was released in 1938, when nobody could have possibly anticipated its potential value.

“The quality and preservation of this Action #1 is astounding,” said Paul Litch, CGC’s Primary Grader. “The book looks and feels like it just came off the newsstand. It is supple, the colors are deep and rich and the quality of the white pages is amazing for a comic that is 76 years old.”

“This is an extraordinary opportunity to acquire the most valuable comic book in existence and we look forward to sharing a piece of pop culture history with the global eBay community of 149 million buyers,” said eBay’s Gene Cook.

An undisclosed portion of the proceeds will go to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.

  • Batman V Superman, Dawn Of Justice: Henry Cavill As Clark Kent Photo Released

Holy Clark Kent, Batman! The first look of Henry Cavill as Clark Kent in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been released for those on the internet. And the internet is pleased.

“He looks REALY, REALY AWESOME!! This movie is GOING TO ROCK!!” one comment said. “Eye candy :)” expressed another. Are they right? Is this the movie to placate those fans who have always wanted two of D.C.’s biggest heroes to share the screen?

The Motely Fool says “no”. Why? Even though the stakes are high for Time Warner and Warner Brothers Studios. The very premise of the movie has three major flaws. First there are too many heroes and villains. Movies that are one on one hero versus villain have done better in the past.

The Avengers is the exception that proves the rule of their second point. All of the major character who appeared in that movie already had origins movies of their own. Man of Steel only featured Superman. Batman, Aquaman, Cyborg, Lex Luthor, Nightwing, and Wonder Woman were not featured in that world. Third, David S. Goyer and Zack Snyder have made some pretty questionable creative decisions in the past. After all, Man of Steel only ranks 55% with critics at Rotten Tomatoes.

Still. It’s a good looking photo.

According to CNN it was taken to support the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund, an organization which helps U.K. veterans. Henry Cavill is one of their biggest supporters.

As for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, the release date is set for May 6th, 2016. However, there apparently is a leak of a trailer online that is supposed to be shown at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con.

You can take a look for yourself here:

  • Batman vs. Superman: First Look And Spoilers

Are you eager for the release of the Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice movie…or perhaps waiting to see how big a disaster it might be?

While you’re waiting for the first clip from the movie via the San Diego Comic Con, have some news fresh from the set of the movie!

First up is a look at actor Henry Cavill

Cavill is featured in an image tweeted from the official Twitter account of the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.

In addition to the T-shirt Cavill is holding in support of the charity, if you look closely, you can see the chair next to him has “Clark” written on it.

Does this mean that Cavill is dressed as “Clark Kent” in the photo? He certainly has the look of a mild-mannered reporter.

If only he were wearing Kent’s trademark frames.

But a behind-the-scenes look at Superman’s alter ego isn’t the only news that has leaked to the internet about the upcoming blockbuster.

Images from the set of the Batman vs. Superman movie featuring a half-finished Superman statue suggested that the hero was being honored by the citizens of Metropolis.

Apparently the newest leaked images from the set feature citizens placing flowers on the statue. We’ve seen this before (Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” anyone?), which begs the question why this trope would be used again.

There is some speculation that “The Death of Superman” storyline from the comics is where this movie is headed.

    Maybe or maybe not.

It could be that Superman is “killed”, which means that a team of heroes (The Justice League) is needed to step up and protect the Earth.

Many have accused DC and Warner Bros. of rushing this movie and the Justice League introduction in order to gain traction and catch up to the very successful series of Marvel movies.

Details released about the movie have been subjected to a great deal of criticism and skepticism.

  • Dale Earnhardt Jr. Hopes To Win Sprint Cup With Superman Car

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is on the verge of a winning streak.  He has his sights set on the Sprint Cup where he is now in third place.  Earnhardt has already earned two wins, including last weekend’s race at the Poconos, and three second-place finishes in 2014.

“Definitely that’s new,” the 39-year-old racer said. “That’s the new conversation topic for us, but I just want to win the next one. We have so much fun winning and going to Victory Lane last week was so much fun with the feeling that you have inside and you have for several hours after that.”

At the Quicken Loans 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, Earnhardt’s Chevrolet will be carrying a Superman design on the hood, since his team is promoting DC Comics. With his recent wins, his Chevrolet is proving to be as fast as a speeding bullet, just like Superman.

“I think it’s a great-looking race car. I enjoy working with DC Comics. They are a fun group of people with a lot of great initiatives that match well with our sport,” Earnhardt said.

With two wins already under his name, he is seeking a third one. Having a winning streak is a big deal for Earnhardt, whose father won seven championships. “I just want to win more and take care of the car and just finish as well as we can, and I think that mentally and making that reality can win us a championship,” he said.

During the final practice, Earnhardt clocked in seventh place at 197.374 mph. Even though Earnhardt is hoping to avoid wrecks during his chase for his third win, he also said that he won’t hold back and play it cautious. He said that they have gambled a bit more than they typically would “because of the new points system.”

Earnhardt is confident that with his speed, coupled with the help of Superman, he can win his third championship.

  • “Man Of Steel 2”: Title Announced For Sequel

“Man Of Steel 2”: Title Announced For Sequel

With DC quickly pumping as many characters into the upcoming Man of Steel sequel as possible, it was no longer practical to expect the sequel to be titled Superman vs Batman.

Today it was announced that the movie will be called Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

    *cringes involuntarily*

    Okay, okay.

It’s not a terrible movie title.

It’s just embarrassingly obvious that DC and Warner Bros. are not too subtly trying to jump-start a movie universe full of their characters in the vein of the Marvel Studios comic book universe. It’s also obvious that these companies, rather than taking the time to plan and establish character storylines and movies to continue through a period of decades, is trying to cut corners.

Between this and writer David Goyer’s recent comic-related comments, it’s easy to have concerns that the title is just the tip of this project’s problematic iceberg.

Speaking of the title, can we even be sure it’s a sequel at this point? I mean…it’s Batman’s name out in front.

That leaves the Man of Steel sandwiched between the Dark Knight and the Justice league. Safe to say it looks and sounds like he’s being squeezed out of his own movie.

The Justice League movie is expected to hit theaters in 2018.

This prequel-sequel is tasked with continuing the momentum of the Nolan Batman trilogy (which, despite its success is not related to this latest movie) and the Man of Steel (which ruined so much of the Superman mythology, it’s a wonder there’s anything reparable going forward).

Despite the early concerns, the 2016 movie could manage to bring everything together in a plausible and enjoyable manner. A “flop” would be disastrous and send DC and WB back to the drawing board for not just one, but potentially all of their movie-related efforts.

No doubt fans are hoping against hope that this is a “dawn” of a wonderful era for DC-comic films.

  • Jason Momoa Rumored to Appear in Batman vs. Superman

The actor who portrayed Khal Drogo on HBO’s Game of Thrones might be joining the cast of Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman vs. Superman film. Jason Momoa has been rumored to have signed on for the Man of Steel sequel, possibly playing DC Comics superhero Aquaman.

Batman-News.com has speculated that Momoa had joined the Batman vs. Superman cast months ago, to appear alongside Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. Though, Momoa has repeatedly denied the rumor, telling IGN, “It’s just rumors. I want to say something amazing, but I can’t comment on rumors. It’s flattering. I’m not involved in it.”

Momoa again denied any involvement in the Snyder production during an interview in January. “I get it all the time. It’s just a rumor. It’s just rumors. I swear. Man to man. You can punch me in the face. You’re allowed to punch me in the face. It’s a flattering rumor, but…,” Momoa commented.

Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa, 34, hails from Honolulu, Hawaii, and is best known for his roles in the fantasy series Stargate Atlantis and Game of Thrones. He’s recently written, directed and produced the feature Road to Paloma, also starring alongside wife Lisa Bonet, which is set to be released in July. Momoa received his signature facial scar in 2008 after being slashed in the face during a bar fight in Hollywood. The actor received roughly 140 stitches during reconstructive surgery.

While it’s been rumored that Affleck buddy Matt Damon might take on the role of Aquaman, some fans see Momoa as a better fit for the part:

In related news, Zack Snyder has just been chosen by Warner Bros. to direct a Justice League movie.

  • Zack Snyder to Direct New ‘Justice League’ Movie

DC Comics and its parent company, Warner Bros. Entertainment, have been trying for years now to catch up with Disney and Marvel in the film industry. Though adaptations of smaller DC imprint titles such as A History of Violence, V for Vendetta, and RED have found some success on the big screen, more mainstream comic properties such as Green Lantern and Superman Returns simply haven’t matched the huge box office successes of Marvel’s Iron Man, Avengers, and Captain America movies. Only Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy stands out as a wildly successful DC movie property in recent decades.

From this perspective it is no surprise that Warner Bros. is looking to make Zack Snyder, the director of last year’s hit Man of Steel, the linchpin of its DC Comics movie initiative. The Wall Street Journal reported this week that Snyder has been chosen by Warner Bros. to direct an upcoming Justice League movie.

The report was confirmed by Warner Bros. via its Twitter page:

A screenplay for the movie has yet to be written, though Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are confirmed as characters in the movie. A release date has also not been set and Warner Bros. President of Worldwide Production Greg Silverman told the Wall Street Journal that the movie likely won’t hit theaters until at least 2018.

In the meantime DC and Warner Bros. will continue preparing for the Snyder-directed Man of Steel sequel, currently dubbed Batman Vs. Superman and scheduled for a 2016 release. That movie will see Henry Cavill return as Superman and Ben Affleck make his debut as Batman. Jesse Eisenberg will also appear in the movie as Superman baddie Lex Luthor and Israeli actress Gal Gadot will be playing Wonder Woman.

As core members of the Justice League in the comics, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are all expected to make an appearance in the Justice League movie. Cyborg has also been rumored as a character for both Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League. Other prominent Justice League members that could appear include Flash, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, and Green Lantern, who was played by Ryan Reynolds in a 2011 movie.

  • Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther Fires Up Twitterverse

The twitterverse is all fired up over the news that Jesse Eisenberg has been cast to play Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder’s sequel to 2012′s Man of Steel.

Eisenberg, best known for his Oscar-nominated role as Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network and as nerdy Columbus in Zombieland, will join Jeremy Irons who was cast as Bruce Wayne’s butler, Alfred. They will join Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.

“Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman’s rivals, his unsavory reputation preceding him since 1940,” Snyder said. “What’s great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He’s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.”

On many levels, the selection of Eisenberg is surprising. Most believed Breaking Bad‘s Bryan Cranston was a shoo-in for the role and some wonder if the 30-year-old actor can pull off the role that is associated with Gene Hackman.

Snyder’s choice of Academy-Award winner Irons as Bruce Wayne’s English butler doesn’t seem to be garnering the same negative attention as the casting of Eisenberg.

“As everyone knows, Alfred is Bruce Wayne’s most trusted friend, ally and mentor, a noble guardian and father figure,” Snyder said. “He is an absolutely critical element in the intricate infrastructure that allows Bruce Wayne to transform himself into Batman. It is an honor to have such an amazingly seasoned and gifted actor as Jeremy taking on the important role of the man who mentors and guides the guarded and nearly impervious façade that encapsulates Bruce Wayne.”

“It is an honor to have such an amazingly seasoned and gifted actor as Jeremy taking on the important role of the man who mentors and guides the guarded and nearly impervious facade that encapsulates Bruce Wayne,” said Snyder.

  • Lex Luthor’s Role Has Been Cast In Upcoming Batman Vs. Superman Film

Big news is here for fans of superhero films. Something big was revealed today when the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film announced who would be playing Lex Luthor.

The film has already been delayed, and as fans wait in anticipation for what will be one of the most epic superhero films of all time, every bit of news is exciting to hear about.

The film is the sequel to Man Of Steel, and will feature the masked dark knight facing off with Superman. This will also mark the first time that Batman and Superman have appeared on screen together.

The role of Lex Luthor is also one that has been talked about for a while, and it was announced today that the role will be filled by Jesse Eisenberg. On the same day that he was cast as Lex Luthor, it was also revealed that Jeremy Irons would play Alfred, Bruce Wayne’s butler.

Zack Snyder will be returning as the director, and the film will retain much of the stars that appeared in the 2013 film Man Of Steel including Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.

Snyder made a statement about Lex Luthor as a character and how Jesse Eisenberg will fit in with the role when saying “He’s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.”

Ben Affleck was also added as Batman, which created a large amount of controversy at the time, and people have continued to criticize that casting choice, even starting petitions to have him removed from the film. Only time will tell how fans will deal with the latest casting decisions. People feared for another disaster that could be similar to Daredevil, and reacted strongly as a result.

Another addition has already taken place after the addition of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, which brought on some controversy as well, with people arguing over whether she looks the part of Wonder Woman.

Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman’s enemies, and as Jesse Eisenberg has never had such a role before, it will be interesting to see how he handles it.

He certainly showed that he could be aggressive in the role of Mark Zuckerberg during the Oscar-nominated film The Social Network. He has also appeared in several other films including Now You See Me, Zombieland and Adventureland.

People can expect to see Jesse Eisenberg in the role of Lex Luthor, along with the rest of the talented cast, as they take the screen in Batman vs. Superman, which is now set to be released on May 16, 2016.

  • Jesse Eisenberg Cast as Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman

After the reveal that Ben Affleck will play Batman in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie, it would seem that casting for the movie couldn’t get any stranger. That assumption has now been proven wrong.

Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that Jesse Eisenberg of Zombieland and The Social Network fame has been cast as Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman.

“Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman’s rivals, his unsavory reputation preceding him since 1940,” said Zack Snyder, director of Batman vs. Superman.

Joining Eisenberg will be Jeremy Irons, who will have the heroic task of following Michael Caine as Wayne Manor butler Alfred.

“As everyone knows, Alfred is Bruce Wayne’s most trusted friend, ally and mentor, a noble guardian and father figure,” said Snyder.

Gal Gadot has already been revealed to be playing Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman and characters from last year’s Man of Steel will also be returning. Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will reprise their roles in the DC Comics universe, as will Amy Adams as Lois Lane.

Batman vs. Superman was recently delayed one year. Though the movie was previously scheduled for a summer 2015 release it will now kick off the 2016 summer blockbuster season on May 9, 2016. According to today’s announcement, the movie is currently being Chris Terrio, the man who wrote the screenplay for Ben Affleck’s Argo.

  • Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck’s Superhero Face-Off Delayed

One of the highly anticipated films of 2015 pushed its release date back to 2016. DC Comic fans need to wait a little longer to see a Superman and Batman face off. Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck star as Superman and Batman respectively. Warner Bros. originally planned to release the untitled Batman vs. Superman film on July 17, 2015 but moved it to May 6, 2016.The Peter Pan origin story film called Pan, directed by Joe Wright, will take its place. Pan was originally scheduled for a June 26, 2015 release.

Warner Bros. states that they decided to move the film to “allow the filmmakers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story.” Currently the production company still has some important decisions to make about the Superman-Batman film, like who to cast as the main villain. The movie, still in pre-production, begins shooting sometime during the latter half of this year.

This unexpected filming change creates a conflict for Affleck. He plans to direct a movie called Live by Night after he finishes filming the Superman-Batman film. Live is scheduled for a December 25, 2015 (Christmas day) release. The movie’s schedule change pressures Affleck to quickly finish the film in order to meet the release deadline. Affleck’s other highly anticipated film Gone Girl is scheduled to release on October 3, 2014. His Superman-Batman filming schedule could also interfere with promoting Gone Girl.

Many other films with huge fanbases are scheduled for a 2015 release, including the new Star Wars movie and Pirates of the Caribbean 5. Therefore, this move might help Batman vs. Superman receive bigger box office numbers.

The Superman-Batman movie also stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.

Changing the film’s release date puts it in direct competition against an unknown Marvel film. The Marvel movie may change its release date too. If it doesn’t, this makes the real showdown between Marvel and DC, not Superman and Batman.

  • Henry Cavill Named Sexiest Man; Talks Affleck Choice

In a recent poll from Glamour magazine, Henry Cavill was named the Sexiest Man of 2013, winning the most votes from 95,000 readers.

For the past four years, Robert Pattinson (of Twilight fame) had won the title. One would think Pattinson would have gained more mass appeal after his break-up with Kristen Stewart, but apparently the style of the year is huge, muscle-bound, classy (but with rough, bearded appeal) men instead of sparkling vampires.

Other prominent celebrities on the list include Liam Hemsworth at number 3, Tom Hiddleston at number 4, Benedict Cumberbatch at number 5, Harry Styles at number 6, Chris Hemsworth at number 7, and Justin Beiber at number 10.

When one wins a sexiest man award, it also brings with it a new level of ethos that makes every statement one makes from that moment on more credible than it previously would have been (by the laws of sexiness). Therefore, fans should be appeased by hearing that Cavill has allayed fears that Ben Affleck will not make a proper Batman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel:

“I’m sure he’ll be fantastic above all else. And as a filmmaker, he’s got his own style, you know. He’s not copying anyone else. And he’s also sort of being tenacious in his career. He’s had ups followed by downs and now he’s very up again, and I think that requires and shows a very special strength of character. And it’s something which I enjoy working with because jobs like this require strength of character, they require a dedication to the work and belief in oneself. And Ben has that, clearly.”

Cavill’s comments support the vision held by the sequel’s producer, Charles Roven: “We wanted a guy who had a certain age and a certain gravitas to what he had done in terms of his recent work. If you take a look at The Town and Argo, he plays a couple of serious guys in those movies. He’s a big man. He’s also a mature man. As you see him and Henry together, one definitely has much more experience just by looking at him. That’s what we wanted, particularly juxtaposed against our Superman.”

Not only did Cavill opine about the choice of Affleck as the next Batman, but he also spoke on looking forward to working with Affleck’s version of Batman on stage: “The next instalment, as we all know, is involving another rather important character, and i’m looking very forward to that interaction, because ultimately they’re two sides of the same coin. How they interact, how they clash and how they ultimately aim towards the same goal is going to be an interesting relationship, and I look forward to playing that with Ben especially.”

While not much information has been released concerning the Zack Snyder directed Batman vs. Superman flick, Roven’s vision coupled with Cavill’s and Affleck’s attitudes toward the project should make one excited. Even if one has some skepticism left in them, at least this clash of comic book titans paves the way for a Justice League movie, something we have all been itching to see since the success of The Avengers franchise.

  • Batman Vs. Superman Begins Shooting This Weekend

It appears as though Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder is slated to shoot a sequence for the highly anticipated Batman Vs. Superman.

    Whaaaa, you say?

It looks like the scene will take place in Los Angeles at the East Los Angeles College campus. In what sounds like a scene from The Dark Knight Rises, this will be a huge crowd scene at a football game, and it sounds as though the first 2000 attendees will be given t-shirts.

Here is all you need to know, brought to you from Campus News.

Warner Bros. Pictures new untitled Superman/Batman project comes to film at East Los Angeles College Weingart stadium during halftime of the Oct. 19 Husky football game.

Zack Snyder, who directed films such as this past summer’s blockbuster Man of Steel, and other movies like 300,Watchmen, and Sucker Punch, directs the upcoming film.

ELAC and Victor Valley College will kickoff the game at 6:30 p.m. At halftime, the stadium will transform into Gotham City University home stadium.

Warner Bros. Pictures announced through a press release that Snyder and producers of the film are looking for people in the Los Angeles area, preferably ELAC students, to be extras for the upcoming film.

The stadium will be made into the backdrop for a football game between Gotham City University and rival Metropolis State University.

The first 2,000 people who sit in the filming area of the stadium will receive T-shirts designed by Snyder for those participating in the filming and prizes will be raffled throughout the night.

The crowd will sport Gotham Citys colors, black and gold.

The film will shoot three takes of three plays during halftime. The crew will be capturing the actors and crowd’s reactions.

ELAC’s College event and Venue Coordinator, Ernest Burnett, said that the filming will be about 20 minutes during halftime. The second half of ELAC’s game will follow the film shoot.

Snyder decided to use ELAC’s stadium to support ELAC and the community.

“They could have done this on a night when we didn’t have a home game. They wanted to support the school,” Burnett said.

ELAC has approached the feature film industry to gain revenue for the college. Features films want to use ELAC because it’s a film friendly school.

“Our visibility among the film community is higher than a lot of schools and I have to give a lot of credit. The experiences of the people that have come and shot here are very good. Because students know the deal now, like they notice the production truck and then move on to class, it’s more common,” Burnett said.

“Feature films don’t usually use community college campuses, because feature films’ schedules change and we can’t accommodate. But we want their business because they come for weeks not just a day. We want to make a lot of money over a small smaller amount of time,” Burnett said.

“It’s also a big opportunity for us (ELAC), and to cheer on our Huskies. Victor Valley is not a bad team,” Burnett said.

  • DC Comics Made An Awesome Superman Short For The Character’s 75th Annivesary

I used to be like you. I hated Superman. He was too powerful, and his stories seemed to lack the emotional gravitas that Batman’s stories had. Then I read Alan Moore’s Whatever Happened To The Man Of Tomorrow and everything changed. Superman was just as good as Batman, if not better in some cases, and DC’s 75th anniversary celebration for the Man of Steel only makes it more apparent.

To celebrate 75 years of Superman, DC Comics commissioned Bruce Timm and Zack Snyder to create an animated short that goes through Superman’s storied history, from Action Comics #1 in 1938 to this year’s Man of Steel. Some may be disappointed by the fact that the short doesn’t go near Lois and Lane, or that it only acknowledges Smallville in passing; but it’s an amazing tribute overall to a character that I and many others have become very fond of over the years.

According to io9, the short will appear on both the Man of Steel Blu-ray as well as on Cartoon Networks’ DC Nation. I can only hope that this means we’ll get more animated Superman movies or TV series from the talented folks at Warner Bros. animation. They’ve been knocking it out of the park with their Batman films as of late, and a new Superman animated series or feature would be greatly appreciated.

  • Lex Luthor to be Played by Bryan Cranston

Lex Luthor to be Played by Bryan Cranston

Rumors have recently been spilled suggesting that Bryan Cranston will star in the ‘Man of Steel’ movie sequel, coming out soon. He will play Lex Luthor, Superman’s supervillain. There has been a lot of discussion saying that Ben Affleck will play Batman in the new movie and Henry Cavill will return to play Superman.

The movie is a sequel to the first Superman movie. It has been reported that the film will be titled ‘Batman vs. Superman’. Comic Book News said that Bryan Cranston will not only play Lex Luthor in ‘Batman vs. Superman’, but he will also star in at least six different Justice League related movies for the DC Comics franchise.

Cranston currently plays Walter White in the AMC drama series, Breaking Bad. He is the star of the show. The drama revolves around a chemistry teacher who turned into a meth chemist. The fifth and final season of the show is currently taking place.

When the end of series finale takes place at the end of September, it is scheduled that the announcement will then be made by Comic Book News as to wither or not Bryan Cranston will play the role of Lex Luthor in the new Superman movie. He played a very intense character on the show and his experience makes him a great candidate to be apart of the new movie.

The Breaking Bad star has also acted in the movies ‘Argo’ and ‘Drive’, which Ben Affleck had major roles in as well. If they are reunited in the filming of this movie, they will not let us down.

  • Bryan Cranston Role Announcement Outshines Affleck’s

Bryan Cranston, much like Gary Oldman, should probably just be in all the things and make our movie-going experiences a lot better. And now that “Breaking Bad” is coming to an end–I know, we’re all in denial, but it has to happen–he’s free to pursue other interests…such as playing Lex Luthor in the “Man Of Steel” sequel that earned Ben Affleck so much backlash over the weekend.

CosmicBookNews is reporting that Cranston has been offered the role and will have at least a six-appearance deal with the series, in which Henry Cavill stars as Superman. There won’t be an official announcement until “Breaking Bad” is done with, but the web is going wild with the news because of a general love for Cranston and because some hope that his involvement will mean good things for a film that has inspired such wrath online.

There’s a rumor floating around that Matt Damon may be tapped to play either Aquaman or Martian Manhunter, but that could just be wishful thinking in connection with Affleck’s role.

While Affleck’s news inspired a petition on Change.org to keep him away from the infamous cowl, the news that Cranston is joining the cast has been met with mostly happiness (although some think he’s better suited to Commissioner Gordon).

  • Josh Brolin Or Ryan Gosling Could Be The Next Batman

Comic-Con recently made millions of nerd dreams come true as it was revealed that Batman and Superman will team up on the big screen in 2015. While Brit heartthrob Henry Cavill is already set to play the man of steel, it is still up in the air who will take on the role of Batman.

Casting the caped crusader is a big deal, especially when it sets the chosen actor up for a possible career-defining role, or at least one that will bring them millions of dollars. So who is being considered to take their place on the Batman Mouth Rushmore alongside Val Kilmer, George Clooney, and Christian Bale?

Early reports are far from definite, but four possibilities are sure to create excitement among fans of the superhero, or movies in general. Josh Brolin is one such name on the list, which also includes indie darling and general good looking guy Ryan Gosling.

Gosling, who is one of the youngest candidates, has the acting chops to pull of the role, but those behind the scenes want a Batman around 40 while Gosling is only 32. The new Batman is also meant to be a more mature, rugged character, not that Gosling couldn’t pull that look off.

Other actors rumored to be on the list are True Blood Adonis Joe Manganiello, who “Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder considered for the role of Superman, and Richard Armitage, who was most recently seen on the silver screen protecting Bilbo Baggins in the role of Thorin in Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit”.

Whoever is chosen to take the reins of Wayne Manor will see their star take a meteoric rise, even if they are someone the caliber of Brolin or Gosling. For those like Manganiello and Armitage, it could take them to the next level. We’ll see who is handed the keys to the Batmobile in the coming months as more details about the casting move surface.
