  • Vladimir Putin Makes Nice over Super Bowl Ring Row

Vladimir Putin’s had a lot on his plate recently. Divorce. A scandal-clad $1bn palace financed with public funds. Butting heads with the West over what to do about Syria.

And now he’s been accused of stealing a Super Bowl ring.

Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, met Putin briefly in Russia in 2005. Kraft was showing off his Super Bowl ring, Putin inspected the ring, reportedly said “I can kill someone with this ring,” then pocketed it and walked off, surrounded by his presidential security detail.

The ring, valued at $25,000, has since been on display at the Kremlin. Putin has offered to have a custom ring of similar value sent to Kraft and has referred to this incident as a “complicated international problem.”

The White House has even weighed in, stating that it would be in the best interest of US-Russian relations for Kraft to consider the “theft” a gift.

Stacey James, a Kraft spokesperson, says there are no hard feelings: “It’s a humorous, anecdotal story that Robert retells for laughs. He loves that his ring is at the Kremlin, and, as he stated back in 2005, he continues to have great respect for Russia and the leadership of President Putin. In particular, he credits President Putin for modernizing the Russian economy.”

  • Charlie Sheen Purchases Lawrence Taylor’s Super Bowl Ring

Charlie Sheen, a man of endless wealth, exquisite taste, and untarnished class, is rumored to have purchased football great Lawrence Taylor’s Super Bowl XXV ring at a recent auction. According to OnTheRedCarpet.com, the former “Two and a Half Men” star snagged the ring for a cool $230,401. Upon hearing the news that Sheen had won the big, FOX Sports reporter Jay Glazer took to Twitter to share the news with his followers.

Taylor, who last played for the New York Giants in 1993, has had some financial troubles as of late, forcing the Hall of Fame inductee to sell some of his prized possessions. SCP Auctions handled the sale of the ring, which, according to the company, is “the most significant Super Bowl player ring ever offered publicly.”

Sheen, meanwhile, has remained strangely tight-lipped about the purchase, stating “no comment” when asked whether or not the reports were true. His manager also declined to comment on the story. The “Men at Work” star is no stranger to dropping insane amounts of money on sports memorabilia; in addition to buying Babe Ruth’s World Series ring, Sheen also paid good money for the player’s contract of sale when he moved to the Yankees.

If you simply cannot get enough Charlie Sheen in your diet, you’ll be happy to know that the troubled actor’s latest project, the FX show “Anger Management”, is scheduled to debut on June 28th. Those who missed the preview for the show can investigate the trailer below.

Update: According to NBC Sports, Sheen is not the proud owner of LT’s Super Bowl ring. The actor reportedly told Dan Patrick, “As much as I would be honored to own such an important artifact, I had nothing to do with the acquisition.” So who currently has possession of the item? Perhaps this one is just meant to remain a mystery.

  • Lawrence Taylor Selling His Super Bowl Ring

In a highly controversial move, former Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor is auctioning off his 1991 Super Bowl ring for a whopping $100,000 just one day after the team received their new rings.

Taylor has put the ring up for sale on SCP Auctions and is hoping to pull in a hundred grand for the diamond-studded jewelry, which some thought was a lofty goal; however, with one day still left to bid the auction is already at almost $90,000. The minimum bid is $10,000.

Part of the item description reads, “The ring shows considerable wear, that in some eyes, only enhances it aura. A phenomenally important memento from one of the greatest football players of all-time.”

Mike Freeman, National NFL Insider, wrote about the auction with unconcealed disdain, calling Taylor a “disgrace” and a “train wreck”. And while not everyone agrees with him, there is a consensus that Taylor is disappointing a lot of people by selling such a prized and hard-earned possession.

Terrell Owens blows through $80 mil he made in the NFL, and now Lawrence Taylor is selling his ’90 Super Bowl ring. Sad. Pathetically sad.
