Harrison Ford Might Appear In Future Star Wars Films?

Harrison Ford has hinted that he just might appear in future Star Wars films.

The 73-year-old actor who played Han Solo in several Star Wars films, stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! Monday as he continues to make the press rounds for the Blu-Ray release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, due April 5.

“I think it’s quite clear that I’ve got nothing better to do,” Ford told Kimmel about his visit to the show.

Ford shared that the death of Han Solo in the movie was something he’d been urging for a long time.

“I argued for 30 years for this to happen and I finally wore them down,” Ford said.

In fact, the actor wanted the character to get killed off back when he and George Lucas were making Return of the Jedi.

Kimmel noted that the Solo death came as a complete surprise because it wasn’t spoiled before the release of The Force Awakens.

“I think they knew that I would show up at their house and beat the s— out of them,” he said.

When Kimmel lamented that the world would no longer see Ford as Han Solo in the future Star Wars movies, Ford made an interesting comment.

“Who said that?” Ford replied. “Who made you the boss?”

OK, perhaps that’s not exactly confirmation, but it gets the blood pumping.

Ford also talked about the news that he’ll reprise his role as Indiana Jones. He and director Steven Spielberg are set for a fifth film slated to come out in 2019.

“I’m excited about this,” Ford said. “The opportunity to work with Steven again on this character which has brought pleasure to so many, not to mention me — it’s great fun to play this character.”

  • Daisy Ridley in Talks for Lara Croft Role in “Tomb Raider” Reboot

Daisy Ridley in Talks for Lara Croft Role in “Tomb Raider” Reboot

Daisy Ridley is reportedly in talks to play Lara Craft in an upcoming Tomb Raider reboot.

“There have been conversations,” Daisy Ridley tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it.’”

Daisy Ridley would certainly be an excellent candidate for the role.

The film will be based on the rebooted Tomb Raider game series. Director Roar Uthaug is excited to feature Lara Croft as an actual human being.

“I think making Lara Croft feel like a real human being, that’s definitely something we want to bring to the big screen as well,” he said.

Daisy Ridley’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens costar John Boyega thinks she would be an excellent candidate for the Lara Craft role.

“I played Tomb Raider the game, it’s a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘this is you!’ and ‘you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be.”

Do you agree with John Boyega? Should Daisy Ridley be cast as Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider film reboot?

Daisy Ridley rules in her role as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Surely she’d have the right look and all the right moves to portray a human Lara Croft.

  • Harrison Ford to Star in Fifth “Indiana Jones” Movie, Due Out in 2019

Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg are back as a dynamic actor and director duo for the fifth Indiana Jones movie due out in 2019.

Disney announced the exciting news on Tuesday.

Harrison Ford’s return to the Star Wars franchise in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens, reprising his role as Han Solo, was a huge help with the film’s bottom line. It also rendered him the highest grossing actor in U.S. box office history. Disney–owner of the Star Wars franchise, in addition to that of Indiana Jones–hopes Harrison Ford has the same affect on the 2019 film.

It’s been 38 years since Harrison Ford starred in the first of the Indiana Jones films–Raiders of the Lost Ark. He will be 77 when the as yet untitled film hits theaters.

It’s too soon to tell whether or not Shia LaBeouf will reprise his role as Indiana Jones’s son. He debuted the role in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Shia LaBeouf has been rather busy of late, wearing paper bags on his head and riding up and down in a London elevator.

Are you an Indiana Jones fan? If so, you’re likely thrilled to learn that a fifth film is in the works, and that it stars Harrison Ford.

Harrison Ford needs to stay as far away from airplanes as possible. He was seriously injured when a plane he was piloting crashed near L.A. in August of 2014. His World War II-era plane stopped working midair, causing him to do his best to bring it safely to the ground.

Fans surely don’t want to see their favorite actor flying any antique plans as they await a 2019 movie release.

Maybe wife Calista Flockhart can keep Harrison Ford grounded for a while?

  • Daisy Ridley to Make Oscars Debut as Presenter on Sunday

Daisy Ridley will make her Oscars debut on Sunday, when she serves as a presenter at the Academy Awards. The Star Wars: The Force Awakens star is experiencing some jitters, however, ahead of the big day. She says in an interview with E! News she plans to sandpaper the bottoms of her shoes before the event.

“I don’t want to ice skate down the red carpet. Imagine how awful that would be?” Daisy Ridley explains. “I’m thinking about all the worst possibilities that could happen—like, I could trip or say something wrong or trip as I’m walking up to the stage. Hopefully, it will all be fine.”

In preparation for the Oscars, Daisy Ridley did what all celebrities do–she chose her attire.

“I looked at a few dresses, I picked my favorite and that’s the one I’m wearing,” she says. “It’s a gorgeous dress and gorgeous jewelry and I’ll have people making me up, making me look better.”

There won’t be much of a break for Daisy Ridley, who arrived in the U.S. from the U.K. on Monday. She will head back to the U.K. the morning after the Oscars, where she will return to filming Star Wars: Episode VIII, reprising her role as Rey.

“It’s a weird little break,” she says, “but it’s very exciting.”

It will be very exciting to see Daisy Ridley presenting at the Academy Awards on Sunday, too. Will you be tuning in to see the Star Wars: The Force Awakens star?

  • Natalie Portman Has a Secret About the New Star Wars

Star Wars fans are quite familiar with Natalie Portman, who played Padme Amidala in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

But how familiar is Natalie Portman with Star Wars?

Not entirely, apparently. According to Portman herself, she’s yet to see the newest movie in the franchise, The Force Awakens.

“I haven’t been able to see it yet,” said Portman in an interview with Good Morning America’s George Stephanopoulos. “But I’ve heard it’s amazing and it’s so nice that it’s sort of this continuing part of everyone’s shared cultural knowledge.”

There you have it – Star Wars star Natalie Portman is likely the only person in the country yet to see the biggest movie of the year (decade?).

Of course, Portman is busy. Her new film, Jane Got a Gun, hits theaters this week. She’s also already completed there projects slated to come out in the next two years and is filming Jackie, in which she plays the iconic Jacqueline Kennedy.

She also recently stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to help perform the classic song “Iko Iko” with The Roots and Sia.

  • Kylo Ren Cat Looks Like Adam Driver, Internet Obsessed

A “Kylo Ren” cat that the internet is suddenly obsessed over, really does resemble the Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor Adam Driver.

Put up for adoption a week ago Friday on the Monmouth County, New Jersey, SPCA’s Facebook page, Kylo Ren–whose original name was Corey–was adopted rather quickly, due in part to all the hype over his appearance.

Lindsay Sanator is with the SPCA. She admits neither she nor her fellow employees recognized the similarity between the cat and Kylo Ren (or Adam Driver) until the post for adoption went online.

“There were comments saying he looked like Yoda, Dobby the Elf and of course Kylo Ren,” Sanator said during a phone interview with a Jacksonville TV station.

“Within the Facebook comments there was a Photoshopped image of Corey’s head on Kylo Ren’s body among stormtroopers. Within 24 hours Corey’s photo had almost 1,000 shares and almost 1,000 retweets, over 500 reddit comments and featured on several viral media websites,” she added.

Emily McCombs lives in Brooklyn, which is 50 miles away from the branch of the SPCA where Kylo Ren was up for adoption. She had no drivers license, but didn’t want anything to stand in the way of the adoption.

“I put out an alert on Facebook for anyone with a car willing to drive me to meet Corey, and an amazing friend drove me out to the shelter the next morning,” she said.

“I wasn’t even totally sure if Corey would still be available when I got there, but I knew I had to try,” she added.

McCombs got her ride to the shelter and signed the adoption papers. She obviously had to name the cat Kylo Ren.

“Kylo’s looks are so unique and adorable, but he really has a very special personality as well. He’s the sweetest, snuggliest cat I’ve ever met–more like a dog, really,” she said.

How cool that Kylo Ren found a home so quickly. Don’t you agree the cat bears a distinct similarity to Adam Driver?

  • Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton Take Her Kids to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton seem very happy together–even happier this weekend as they included Gwen’s kids in their plans.

On Saturday, the fellow Voice coaches were spotted with Gwen Stefani’s sons–Kingston, nine, Zuma, seven, and Apollo, one–at an L.A. movie theater taking in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Gwen Stefani went casual for the weekend date, sporting jeans, moccasins, and a green Army jacket.

Blake Shelton wore his typical attire of cowboy boots, jeans, a t-shirt, and a cap.

Following the film, Gwen, Blake, and the three boys dined at The Cheesecake Factory.

Don’t you imagine Blake Shelton could put away a sizable meal–followed by at least one slice of cheesecake?

A day later, with Gwen Stefani likely at home with the kids, Blake Shelton was seen doing a bit of grocery shopping–likely bringing the goods back to his newfound family.

Do you expect Blake is having a lot of fun with Gwen Stefani’s kids? Rumor has it he wanted children while married to Miranda Lambert, but she wasn’t ready to be a mom.

Might Blake wind up being a stepdad to the children Gwen Stefani shares with ex Gavin Rossdale?

Is there relationship at that point, or are they still content to simply have fun?

  • Adam Driver Parodies His ‘Star Wars’ Character Kylo Ren, Channels Aladdin For ‘SNL’

Adam Driver parodied his famous Star Wars character, Kylo Ren, in a skit while hosting Saturday Night Live.

The 32-year-old actor, who plays villainous Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and is also known for his role as Adam in HBO’s Girls, hosted SNL for the first time and was joined by musical guest and country singer Chris Stapleton.

Driver reprised his role as Kylo Ren in this Undercover Boss parody.

In another skit, Driver and Vanessa Bayer portray a married couple who win Golden Globes, who embarrass their kids watching at home by giving them a shout-out during their acceptance speech and then proceed to party a little too much at the after party.

Finally, Driver shocks fans with a pretty good impression of Aladdin by performing A Whole New World with Cecily Strong … with a twist.

Driver also took a turn as the host of America’s Funniest Cats, integrating sound effects and the kind of commentary reminiscent of any of America’s Funniest shows. Things get a little cooky when two French women (played by Cecily Strong and Kate McKinnon) who join him on the show to demonstrate how they do it back in their home country.

What did you think of Adam Driver‘s first appearance on SNL?

  • Kylo Ren Headed to Disney Theme Parks in the U.S., and to “SNL”

Kylo Ren, the Star Wars character who made his debut in the newly released film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will soon be on hand to greet guests at domestic Disney parks.

Yes, you read that correctly. Kylo Ren is headed to both Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida.

Disney made the announcement on Friday, saying Kylo Ren will appear alongside Star Wars regulars Chewbacca and Boba Fett in the Tomorrowland section of the parks.

Fans will be able to meet and greet the characters and pose for pictures with them–for a fee, of course.

The coming of Kylo Ren means the leaving of another Star Wars character, however. Disney will bid adieu to Darth Vader, although the Sith Lord Vader will continue to be in the show “Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple.”

Don’t book your trip to a Disney theme park based on seeing Kylo Ren just yet, as a date for his arrival has yet to be announced.

In a (planned?) coincidence, Kylo Ren actor Adam Driver is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, just one day after Disney’s announcement.

Will you be tuning in on Saturday night to see if Driver channels Kylo Ren (how could he not?) as part of his SNL appearance?

  • The Force Awakens Is Now the Highest-Grossing Movie in US History

Everyone knew that Star Wars: The Force Awakens was going to be a box office juggernaut, but in just 20 days the movie now has the title of highest-grossing film in US history.

Domestic totals for The Force Awakens have surpassed $760.5 million, the mark set by Avatar.

The official Star Wars site has issued this statement:

“[T]hanks to fans new and old, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now the highest grossing film of all-time at the domestic box office, surpassing Avatar’s $760.50 million record in just 20 days. The movie also holds the records for biggest opening day at the domestic box office ($119.1 million), biggest opening weekend at the domestic box office ($247.96 million), and biggest IMAX opening at the domestic box office ($30.1 million), among many others.”

“We are proud of these records, but know that they would not be possible without fans’ enthusiasm and continued support. We feel it here and it drives us every day, and it will continue to in the very bright future of Star Wars. There has indeed been an awakening — and it’s all thanks to you.”

The Hollywood Reporter notes that The Force Awakens still has a long way to go to break Avatar‘s international totals.

Adjusting for inflation, however, The Force Awakens doesn’t actually hold the domestic box office record. It’s in 21st place.

    But that’s likely to change.

  • Kylo Ren: Editors Explain Timing Of Creepy Mask Scene

Kylo Ren is a character long grappled with after first screenings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens all over the world took place.

Not quite as ruthless as his grandfather and not near as committed to the dark side, Kylo Ren poses sort of a complicated picture of evil.

The devotion that Kylo Ren holds for his grandfather, Darth Vader, clearly outweighs the perceived slight he experienced from his father, Han Solo.

That devotion is shown in a scene that shows Kylo Ren speaking to the infamous mask of his dead grandfather.

It is a moving and definitive scene in the movie as it gives perhaps the only hint that Kylo Ren is struggling with a calling from the light side.

This is hilarious, by the way, if you haven’t run across it. Emo Kylo Ren:

This scene, according to editors of the movie, was placed in that particular sequence for good reason.

On editor, Mary Jo Markey, explains the placement of the Kylo Ren and Vader mask scene, saying, “That originally came much earlier in the film. It was scripted to happen after Poe and Finn escape from the Star Destroyer, and Kylo Ren would be berate himself for having seen that Finn was a traitor on the battlefield and not have done anything about it.”

She continued, “But we realized the moment was wasted there. It wasn’t a big enough event and and it came too early in the film.”

She then added, “We moved it to later in the film and made it about his fear about his father’s coming to the planet and his feelings of being pulled toward the light. It had a greater resonance there and greater importance for Kylo Ren’s character.”

Interesting! It does sound like that Kylo Ren scene made a much bigger impact than it could have from its former spot.

What do you think about the relocation of that Kylo Ren/Vader mask scene? Just right or do you think they should have left it?

  • Daisy Ridley Voices Character In New (Old) Studio Ghibli Film

Daisy Ridley has been the talk of Hollywood since her breakthrough role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The world has gone crazy for Daisy Ridley and everyone expects that her career will take off.

What many may not have expected is that her next move would be voice acting in a new Studio Ghibli film, which is actually an adaptation of a Japanese classic for an American release.

Daisy Ridley will voice the character Taeko, who is a single 27-year-old woman who’s lived her whole life in Tokyo and takes a voyage to the country to visit her family.

On the way, Daisy Ridley’s character ponders, in the way of flashbacks, if she’s still the girl she once was.

The film, Only Yesterday, was originally released 25 years ago and is a classic in Japan. It is sure to be just as lauded in America.

Many Americans are familiar with the beautiful films that come from Studio Ghibli and this one, with Daisy Ridley as the star, is sure to be a success.

    Watch the original trailer:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYm7IT_K5eo

Daisy Ridley said of the film, “I think the reason probably this is such a loved film and will continue to be so is because it doesn’t feel foreign. It feels exactly right, like, how do you make your dreams come true?”

The film will also feature the voice of Dev Patel, of Slumdog Millionaire and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel fame, opposite Daisy Ridley.

Are you excited to see Daisy Ridley in action (sort of) again?

  • Best Movies of 2015 Mix of Children’s, Action Films, and More

The best movies of 2015 comprise an eclectic list. “Best,” of course, is relative. NDTV.com made a list of what they consider the best movies of 2015, and it includes children’s films, action flicks, and more.

NDTV chose 10 films for their best movies of 2015 list–and they admit the list is surprising. See if you’ve watched any they deem among the year’s best.

Ant-Man: Dubbed the “smallest big film of the year,” Ant-Man made the list because of Paul Rudd and some impressive cinematography.

“The film was full of plot holes and inconsistent science, but none of that mattered because everyone in the cinema was having so much fun,” NDTV writes.

Inside Out: This Pixar film is about feelings that have feelings. It appeals–as most Pixar films do–to adults as well as the children for which it was written.

Mad Max: Fury Road: Stunning visuals, amazing scenery, and Charlize Theron took this film with a two-hour long chase scene to new heights, making it worthy of the best movies of 2015 listing.

The Martian: Even though NDTV says it’s “slow,” they also write it’s “surprisingly accessible and highly enjoyable.” It also stars Matt Damon. Enough said?

Jurassic World: Already a contender for an Oscar for best visual effects, the only film to trump this one in box office sales is Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Besides, who doesn’t love Chris Pratt?

Minions: They’re yellow, and they look like giant Twinkies with eyes–but that’s not enough to leave them off the best movies of 2015 list, and NDTV agrees. They do warn viewers not to take them too seriously, however. Who takes a yellow creature that looks like a Twinkie with eyes seriously? Really?

Good Dinosaur: Yet another offering from Pixar for 2015, it doesn’t boast the hype of Inside Out, but is one of the most “gorgeous animated movies” the good people at NDTV have ever seen.

Ex Machina: Starring Alicia Vikander of The Danish Girl, Ex Machina raises questions about transhumanism without requiring viewers to learn a whole new vocabulary.

Chappie: Classified as a film you’ll either really love or really hate, Chappie features rappers Die Antwoord. NDTV says give it a chance, and since it made their best movies of 2015 list, someone must have done just that.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens: This one needs no explanation. It grossed more than any other film that opened Christmas weekend–even trumping Jurassic Park.

Would you place any of these films on your best movies of 2015 list?

There are many lists boasting the year’s best. As previously stated, “best” is relative. Do you agree?

  • Carrie Fisher Once Received Box of Sex Toys from Mom Debbie Reynolds for Christmas

Carrie Fisher is making the talk show rounds, promoting Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but not all the topics she discusses are related to the film.

It was while chatting with UK talk show host Graham Norton in recent days that Carrie Fisher mentioned a Christmas gift she once received from her mom, Debbie Reynolds.

“She has given me some extraordinary gifts over the years,” Fisher said.

“She once gave my grandmother and me vibrators for Christmas and my grandmother said she would not use hers because she was afraid it might short-circuit her pacemaker!” she added.

Carrie Fisher plays the role of General Organa–previous known as Princess Leia Organa in earlier Star Wars films. Lest that convince those of you who haven’t yet seen the film that Fisher’s character is strong and a force to be reckoned with–think again.

Reuters reports that General Organa isn’t very exciting at all. In fact, she is described as “grave and almost beatific.”

“Leia is far less impassioned about seeing the great love of her life after a long estrangement than about the loss of their son Ben to the Dark Side,” they write.

How sad that Carrie Fisher’s character sounds so mundane. That certainly doesn’t match the real-life Carrie Fisher–the one who got a box of sex toys from her mother for Christmas–does it?

What do you suppose Debbie Reynolds thinks of her daughter’s character’s change from 1980s icon to 2015 sleeper?

Carrie Fisher was just 19 when she first played Princess Leia. Too bad writers didn’t chat with her–or Debbie Reynolds–about the kind of woman she is capable of playing, even at the age of 59.

Have you seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Were you disappointed in the way Carrie Fisher’s character is portrayed?

  • Mark Hamill Aims to #BeatTheDealers, Hates That Fans Have Been Duped With Fake Autographs on “Star Wars” Memorabilia

Mark Hamill is determined to #BeatTheDealers. The Star Wars: The Force Awakens star hates that so many Star Wars fans have been duped with fake autographs on Star Wars memorabilia they’ve paid good money to procure.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hamill is working with fans via Twitter to determine whether signatures on their merchandise are truly his or simply fakes.

It was Sunday night when Mark Hamill first checked out countless photos of merchandise bearing what they assumed was his signature. He was on Twitter doing so earlier on Monday as well.

Mark Hamill reprises his role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which topped all prior Christmas box office premieres.

Do you own any Star Wars merchandise with what you assume is Mark Hamill’s autograph? Check out his Twitter page for clear examples of both fakes and originals.

  • John Boyega, Daisy Ridley: “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” Cast Members Walk Red Carpet in Shanghai, China for Film Premiere

John Boyega and his costar Daisy Ridley walked the red carpet in Shanghai, China on Sunday for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiere. Director J.J. Abrams joined the actors.

Looking dashing in his maroon suit with satin lapels, John Boyega plays the role of Finn in the new Star Wars film. The handsome 23-year-old no doubt loved walking the red carpet alongside his beautiful costar Daisy Ridley, who wore a deep purple Jason Wu sleeveless gown. Ridley, who plays the role of Rey in the new film, accented her look with Meira T jewelry and a Tyler Alexandra clutch. She paired her gown with sexy Jimmy Choo shoes.

Both John Boyega and Daisy Ridley posed on the red carpet with a new Star Wars icon, a roly-poly droid called BB-8, as well as the classic robot R2-D2.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, starring Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and more boasts the biggest Christmas film opening ever, and in the days after Christmas has officially hit the $1 billion mark.

Have you checked out the new Star Wars film yet? What do you think of some of the new characters, including those played by John Boyega and Daisy Ridley?

  • Mark Hamill Angry For ‘Star Wars’ Fans Duped By Those Selling Fake Autographs

Mark Hamill is angry that there are those out there duping fans by selling items with fake “Mark Hamill” autographs.

In an attempt to help his fans, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens star took to Twitter Sunday night to help fans figure out whether the autograph in their possession is real or fake.

Hamill, 64, suggested that fans post a photo of their merchandise and he said he would tell them if the signature was legit or not legit.

“I’m so sorry there’s so many fans spending their hard-earned money for fraudulent signatures,” Hamill said in a tweet.

Throughout the years, there have been some pieces that Mark Hamill did sign so he wanted to help his fans learn how to spot a fake autograph.

Hamill reprised his iconic role as Luke Skywalker for the latest, record-breaking installment of the epic space adventure.

As of Sunday, J.J. Abrams’ installment soared past $1 billion globally faster than any film in history. The movie which reunited Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher in their iconic roles had the biggest Christmas weekend ever at the North American box office with $153.5 million for an early domestic haul of $544.6 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

  • “Jurassic World” and “Star Wars” Vying for Visual Effects Oscar, One Loses to Other in Biggest Film Opening

“Jurassic World” and “Star Wars” Vying for Visual Effects Oscar, One Loses to Other in Biggest Film Opening

Jurrasic World and Star Wars are vying for the same Oscar. Both films are up for the Best Visual Effects award.

The end of the holidays means it’s time for awards season to begin.

While the Academy Award nominations won’t be announced until January 14, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences revealed Monday the shortlist of potential nominees for just one category, that of best visual effects, with Jurassic World and Star Wars among them.

Jurassic World opened back in June, and stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. It is the fourth film in the Jurassic Park series of films about dinosaurs.

In addition to Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Jurassic World, other contenders for the visual effects Oscar are Ant-Man, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ex Machina, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Martian, The Revenant (which just opened on Christmas Day), Tomorrowland, and The Walk.

From this shortlist, five contenders will receive the Academy Award nomination.

Will Jurassic World and Star Wars both make the cut?

In other Jurassic World and Star Wars news, Star Wars: The Force Awakens shattered Jurassic World’s earnings for being the biggest film opening ever.

  • Daisy Ridley Had to Overcome Fears to Play Rey in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”

Daisy Ridley isn’t quite as brave as Rey, the character she plays in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In fact, she had to overcome some fears in order to play the role.

Rey is a pilot and a scavenger in the latest Star Wars installment, and she’s the first person Daisy Ridley has portrayed on the big screen. The 23-year-old talked about the fears that initially stood in her way when she was cast in the film.

“It’s one thing for other people to see potential in you, and it’s quite another for you to understand that and see it in yourself,” Daisy Ridley told the Associated Press. “So of course everyone else being wonderful helps, but there’s a certain level of growth and stuff you have to do as a person. It’s just like life times a million.”

Ridley underwent months of physical training to prepare to play Rey. Her regimen included weight lifting, climbing, and even staff training–running and fighting with a staff.

“I had to look like I could look after myself in the desert and dragging and scavenging things across sand,” she said.

JJ Abrams helps alleviate some of Daisy Ridley’s fears.

“Luckily, to have J.J. there, who is so kind and considerate and encouraging, and to have a crew of people who made me feel safe and not rushed and not pressured, that is precisely what took the pressure off,” she explained.

Ridley bonded with fellow Star Wars star John Boyega, too, and that helped allay some of her fears.

“We got on so well,” Ridley said. “It was so much fun all the time, and to have him with me through this whole thing, both in filming and afterward, has been incredible.”

Have you see Star Wars: The Force Awakens yet? If so, can you believe Daisy Ridley had to overcome fears to play Rey?

That certainly doesn’t translate to the big screen–does it?

  • Lupita Nyong’o Both “Galactic and Glamorous” At L.A. “Star Wars” Premiere

Lupita Nyong’o wore the perfect combination of “galactic and glamorous” when she walked the red carpet at the L.A. premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. That’s how the actress’s stylist, Micaela Erlanger, described her outfit.

“When I think of Star Wars, one of the biggest and most important film franchises of all time, the pressure is certainly on,” Micaela told Vogue.com. “We knew that we wanted to push the envelope and really go for a gown that had not only the ‘wow’ factor, but felt appropriate for the theme of the film.”

With this kind of outfit, the accessories Lupita Nyong’o wore were scaled way down, so as not to create a cluttered appearance.

“My direction for her wardrobe for the tour has been all about subtle edge,” Erlanger said. “I believe accessories should punctuate an outfit.”

So where did Micaela Erlinger find the stunning dress Lupita Nyong’o wore to the premiere?

“Combing through the collections on Vogue Runway and even looking at the archives,” Erlinger said. “When I saw this gown, I knew it would be a contender—the encrusted crystals, the strong shoulder, the banding at the waist. It just had all the right factors. I knew it would be flawless on her.”

What’s your take on Lupita Nyong’o and her stunning look on the Star Wars: The Force Awakens red carpet? Can you see that perfect combination of “galactic and glamorous?”
