  • Brooklyn Stabbing: Reward Offered For Six-Year-Old’s Killer

A young boy is dead and a young girl is in critical condition following what appears to be a random stabbing in Brooklyn, New York. According to a New York Times report, six-year-old Prince Joshua “P.J.” Avitto and seven-year-old Mikayla Capers were stabbed Sunday evening in the elevator of a Shenck Avenue apartment building.

Avitto suffered stab wounds to his neck and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Capers has been transferred to New York-Presbyterian Hospital for treatment of stab wounds to her hands and torso.

According to the families of the victims, the children had been friends since they were toddlers. Avitto and Capers were reportedly on their way down to the street get Icees when they were stabbed.

No arrests have been made yet related to the stabbing. Based on witness reports, police are currently searching for a suspect that is a heavyset black man in his 20s wearing a grey sweatshirt. According to Chief of Brooklyn Detectives Patrick Conry, the man was spotted running away from the crime scene. Police have also recovered a knife they believe may have been used in the attack.

The stabbings have rocked a community that is now struggling to come to terms with why someone would stab two innocent children. Brooklyn community leaders have come together to offer a reward for information on the crime. Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams today announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the stabbing suspect.

This stabbing came just days after another stabbing occurred nearby in Brooklyn. A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of Copeland’s murderer.

  • Calgary Stabbing: Suspect Son Of Senior Police Officer

Police Chief Rick Hanson called the fatal stabbing of five people the “worst mass murder in Calgary’s history.”

The shocking crime is said to have taken place during a house party at a residence in Calgary, a city in the province of Alberta, Canada.

The police chief spoke to reporters about the case at a Tuesday afternoon press conference. While speaking to the press, Hanson dropped a sizable bombshell about the suspect taken into custody.

The young man suspected to be behind the brutal stabbings is the son of a senior police officer.

The Calgary Herald is reporting that the suspect taken into custody was University of Calgary student Matthew de Grood, son of Inspector Douglas de Grood.

The five stabbing victims will have their identities withheld from the public until their families have been contacted. It is being reported that all five victims were in their twenties.

According to neighbors, the social gathering was meant to celebrate the last day of classes. The party took place mainly in the backyard of the Calgary residence where a big bonfire was said to be burning.

The stabbings are believed to have occurred at around 3:20 am EST. The suspect was apparently an invited guest who, according to Hanson, targeted each victim one at a time. The authorities are considering charging the suspect with multiple counts of first degree murder.

As word of the fatal stabbings spread, condolences are pouring in.

Elizabeth Cannon, president of the University of Calgary, released the following statement about the tragedy:

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families who have lost their love ones in this senseless tragedy. The university community has lost a part of its family and this is a very difficult time for all of us…We are deeply saddened by this news and we will work with our community to ensure our members receive the support that they need…This is a terrible, terrible tragedy and I think not one that one wants to be speaking about – young people who’ve lost their lives at a very critical point in their lifetimes and a huge impact on all of us.

  • Broncos Game Stabbings Might Not Be Game-Related

Some people may have taken the Broncos at home defeat to the Chargers too personally in a bizarre turn of events. As fans were leaving the stadium, several of men became mixed up in a confrontation that resulted in multiple stabbings. Denver police have confirmed three individuals were hospitalized due to stab wounds. One of the men was said to be in critical condition. There are also reports of a possible fourth victim, but no one has been identified as of yet. The three men thought to be responsible for the attack are in police custody.

The incident was first reported a few minutes before 10:00PM. The authorities are continuing to interview witnesses in an attempt to figure out exactly what lead to the bloody encounter.

Says Denver police spokesman Sgt. Steve Warneke, “Detectives will be interviewing people throughout the night, trying to sort out who did what.” Stadium officials had promised in an official statement that they will work with authorities to “gather more information” regarding the incident.

Even though the mystery surrounding the confrontation has yet to be revealed, there is good reason to assume it’s crazy sports fans acting out.

In September at a 49ers game, a man was hospitalized following a fight that allegedly stemmed from his having urinated on another man’s car. During the same game a woman claimed to have been attacked by a rival female fan. One of the more memorably chilling fan encounters occurred about a decade ago, where a man was shot and killed over a disagreement involving baseball teams.

In fact, fan violence over sports is increasingly the norm these days. There are few things that bring passions higher than sports, but at some point, one has to take a step back. Is a favorite team really worth spilling the blood of a total stranger? Is it worth spending the rest of your life in jail?

These are likely questions the apprehended are asking themselves right now, if it turns out to have been yet another pointless fan confrontation. The truth of the matter should be revealed in the coming days.

  • Quarterback Stabbing Arrest Made in Delaware

This weekend, a quarterback for the University of Delaware was stabbed. Police say that Trevor Sasek was stabbed three times in the chest and abdomen early on Sunday morning.

Now, police have made an arrest in the case.

25-year-old Michael J. Creed (mugshot seen above) has been charged with 1st degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. Police say that Creed yelled at Sasek and others before leaning into a car and back out again. He then walked up to Sasek, grabbed his shoulder, and was seen “punching” toward Sasek. Creed then ran away as Sasek realizes he had been stabbed.

After the stabbing, Sasek was taken to a local hospital where he underwent surgery. He is currently in stable condition.

    12-Year-Old Arrested For Murdering Sister

On April 27, a Valley Springs, California girl named Lelia Fowler was found stabbed to death in the home where she lived with her brother and father. Police, who immediately began searching for the 8-year-old’s killer, have now made an arrest in the case – Lelia’s 12-year-old brother.

According to an Associated Press report, the boy has been charged with the homicide of his younger sister. He had originally told police that he found Leila and saw an intruder fleeing from his house. The kids’ parents were reportedly at a little league game at the time of the murder.

Police found no signs of a robbery at the Fowler house, and a door-to-door search turned up no leads. Their questioning of sex offenders and parolees in the area were similarly unfruitful.

Lelia’s brother was arrested on the evening of Saturday, May 11. A candlelight vigil was held last week at the elementary school that Leila attended.

  • Man Stabs Wife in the Face Over a Facebook Like

A Philadelphia man is being held on $1 million bond after stabbing his wife in the face and neck over a Facebook like.

49-year-old Thomas Troy Young admitted to stabbing his 33-year-old wife Carla Brown back in March over her Facebook actions. Reportedly, Young stabbed Brown because he was angry that she had liked someone else’s post on the site.

According to court records, Young and Brown were fighting in their bedroom on the night of March 10th. Later, after Young had left the house, Brown’s daughter found her in the locked room lying on the floor, covered in blood.

Brown had multiple stab wounds to her face, neck, back, and hand. She also suffered a punctured lung as a result of the attack.

Records indicate that Young also tried to strangle her with a plastic warm-up suit, and threatened to kill her children if she attempted to get help.

“If he was going to jail for one murder it didn’t matter to him if it was three or more,” Young reportedly said to Brown.

Young, who has had assault charges filed on him in the past, is scheduled for trial on May 22nd.

Sadly, this isn’t even close to the first time that we’ve seen domestic altercations linked to something ridiculous involving Facebook. In 2011, a Texas man was charged with battery after he allegedly punched his wife in the face for failing to like one of his Facebook statuses. Last year, a drunk guy called 911 on his wife after she refused to allow him to browse Facebook in peace. Also, you probably remember the guy who assaulted his girlfriend after seeing a photo of an unfamiliar man on her Facebook Timeline. That man turned out to be former Presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
