  • Rachel McAdams Talks Downside to Awards Shows

Rachel McAdams attended the 88th Annual Oscar Nominee Luncheon in Beverly Hills on Monday, and she dished about the downside to these awards shows.

“It’s always really not glamorous when you go home at the end of the night,” she said. “It’s so sad. You just like, fall on the floor in a puddle. It’s so fun, but you really do feel like you turn into a pumpkin, in the best way.”

Nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Spotlight, Rachel McAdams wore a stunning Elie Saab gown to the SAG Awards, and she shared a little secret about something she allowed her sister’s dog to do following the event. It’s not glamorous, but it sounds like it was fun.

“I shouldn’t say this out loud because Elie Saab might kill me, but I had a great photo shoot with my sister’s chihuahua on the dress after the SAG Awards with the SAG Award,” she explains. “Don’t tell anyone I did that!”

There has to be a balance to this downside of awards shows. Of course winning an Oscar would be the definite upside. Having a bit of fun at the expense of formality no doubt afforded Rachel McAdams a bit of comic relief.

Spotlight received six Academy Award nominations, including Rachel McAdams’ nomination. She stars in the film alongside Mark Ruffalo, Liev Schreiber, and Michael Keaton–and it seems she thoroughly enjoyed the men she worked with.

“They are a good group of boys!” McAdams says.

It will be fun to see who Rachel McAdams wears to the Oscars–and even more fun to imagine what she might do while wearing the gown after the event is over.

  • Rachel McAdams Among Best-Dressed at SAG Awards

Rachel McAdams is one of the first names mentioned when those reporting from the SAG Awards on Saturday dish about the best-dressed ladies. Wearing a nude gown with a black embellished overlay, McAdams looked like she wasn’t wearing much at all–until you looked a bit closer. The Elie Saab gown was the perfect choice for the pretty actress. Called “a dress of a thousand intricacies,” it’s not so different from Rachel McAdams herself.

The slight of hand–or dress, as the case was–wasn’t the only way Rachel McAdams stunned the audience at the SAG Awards. The film in which she stars–Spotlight–was awarded the Outstanding Performance by a Cast award.

Despite her film’s win and her stunning appearance, Rachel McAdams lost out on another award for which she was nominated. Alicia Vikander instead took home the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor for her role in The Danish Girl. In addition to McAdams and Vikander, Kate Winslet, Rooney Mara, and Helen Mirren were also nominated for the award.

Alas Rachel McAdams isn’t the sole winner in the SAG Awards best-dressed category. She is among a stunning group of winners, however, including Sofia Vergara, Sarah Hyland, Christina Hendricks, and more.

Did you check out the SAG Awards on Saturday evening? Who besides Rachel McAdams do you think deserves a mention in that unofficial best-dressed category?

  • Rachel McAdams Up For Oscar, In Talks For Another Major Movie Role

Rachel McAdams seems to be experiencing a significant rise in her career lately.

Probably still best known for her gorgeous role in The Notebook, Rachel McAdams went on to roles that ranged from silly, as in Wedding Crashers, to roles that were a little more serious, like in Sherlock Holmes.

But it is her latest role in Spotlight that has earned Rachel McAdams an Oscar nomination and, possibly, a more serious trend in her career.

Rachel McAdams’ nomination for her role in Spotlight was a little unexpected according to an article on Time.

The article read, “Most of the attention for Spotlight’s acting has gone to its entire ensemble, as well as to Mark Ruffalo, who also got an Oscar nod for supporting actor.”

Congratulations to #SpotlightMovie for its six Academy Award Nominations including BEST PICTURE. #OscarNoms

  • Rachel McAdams: Check Our Her “Notebook” Audition for TBT

Rachel McAdams is not just an amazing actress, she’s a beautiful woman, too. Probably her most memorable role to date is the one she played opposite Ryan Gosling all those years ago, when she starred as Allie Hamilton in The Notebook.

In honor of TBT (Throwback Thursday), fans can check out Rachel McAdams’ audition for that very role. It will definitely have you digging through your old DVDs to find that dusty copy of The Notebook.

Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling received much praise for the chemistry they shared on the big screen in the respective roles. Of course it couldn’t have been all that difficult to pretend to be in love with Ryan Gosling–right?

In The Notebook, Rachel McAdams’ character was a wealthy southern girl whose affair with Gosling’s character–that of a poor laborer–was forbidden. The two actually became romantically involved themselves a year after the film, but things didn’t work out for them.

Setting TBT aside, Rachel McAdams is still wowing fans on the big screen. She just learned that her most recent film, Spotlight, earned three Golden Globe nominations. The film hit theaters in November.

Were you a huge fan of Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling in The Notebook? If so, you’ve no doubt enjoyed this little trip down memory lane. If you’re not–or if you’re not familiar with Rachel McAdams’ work–check out Spotlight. You just might have a new favorite actress on your hands.

  • Rachel McAdams’ Film ‘Spotlight’ Almost Didn’t See the Light of Day Due to Sensitive Subject Matter

Rachel McAdams says her new movie Spotlight almost didn’t see the light of day because of it’s sensitive subject matter.

The 36-year-old The Notebook actress joined costars Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton and Mad Men‘s John Slattery, along with director Tom McCarthy for an interview with the Hollywood Reporter to explain how difficult it was to address the shocking story of sexual abuse by Catholic priests.

At one critical point in pre-production, it seemed the film would not be made when DreamWorks, which had enlisted Participant Media to co-finance the movie’s $15 million budget, pulled out.

“We never knew why,” said producer Nicole Rocklin. “They never told us. But I can speculate. It’s a movie about pedophilia in the Catholic Church.”

As reported by The Inquisitr, McAdams plays Sarah Pfeiffer, a real-life journalist who, as part of a team of investigative journalists, shook the Catholic church to its core in the early 2000s with a series of articles about the sexual abuse that was happening across the United States.

The articles set off a series of events that eventually led to an apology released by the Pope to the victims and their families.

According to McCarthy, they hoped the film production would capture the journalists drive to dig up the truth on behalf of those victims.

“Investigative reporting can be tedious. It can be endless. But it can also be exciting. And that’s the drama we’re trying to capture in this movie,” said director Tom McCarthy.

The most difficult aspect of making the film, said Ruffalo, was to share the dark story without driving away movie-goers.

“No one wants to watch a priest molesting a kid. That’s very hard for an audience to watch,” Ruffalo said.

Rachel McAdams took her role so seriously that she spent a great deal of time with the real Sarah Pfeiffer to learn every detail about the woman she would portray.

“Rachel McAdams has asked me how long I kept my fingernails. What size Post-it Notes I preferred,” Sarah Pfeiffer wrote in The Boston Globe about her time with McAdams.
