Verizon Hits the Ground Running With Zoom Competitor BlueJeans

Verizon has announced a slew of new features for BlueJeans, its videoconferencing Zoom competitor.

Verizon announced a deal to purchase BlueJeans in April, as the coronavirus pandemic was gaining momentum. Zoom had established itself as the go-to option for remote work and education, as well as for individuals to stay in touch with friends and family. Verizon saw an opportunity to snap up one of Zoom’s competitors in the hopes of combining BlueJeans with the company’s Verizon Business offerings.

Verizon has now announced some major new features for BlueJeans, as well as significant partner integrations. The platform now integrates with Salesforce, using hands-free lead tracking to capture attendee data. BlueJeans can also use Splash to help streamline event promotions, as well as follow-ups. Similarly, BlueJeans can use TicketSocket for event monetization.

Even more significant, BlueJeans has increased the size limit of virtual events, supporting up to 150 presenters and 50,000 attendees. The platform previously only supported 15,000 attendees. In addition, BlueJeans will support seamless integration with YouTube Live. While the platform already supported Facebook Live, adding YouTube Live will greatly increase the potential reach of a live event. Similarly, better support for Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) in BlueJeans Events will make it easier to stream to additional social media platforms.

“When COVID hit, the video industry was ready,” said David Maldow, Founder, Let’s Do Video. “Changes in culture and technology were already driving organizations to embrace live streaming prior to the pandemic, but now that traditionally in-person events are being forced to go virtual, we’re really seeing the benefits of platforms like BlueJeans Events. With these latest updates, BlueJeans continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible when it comes to hosting large-scale, interactive experiences online that exceed audience expectations while providing moderators peace of mind.”

It seems Verizon is moving full-speed-ahead with BlueJeans, and this will make hosting events post-pandemic a little easier.

  • Daryl Hannah and Neil Young: Dating?

Daryl Hannah and Neil Young: Dating?

Daryl Hannah is rumored to be dating newly-single rocker Neil Young. Could there be any truth behind the rumor? The Daily Mail recently posted shots of the two dining in southern California. The actress was spotted kissing Young’s cheek in one of the shots.

Us Weekly says the two are definitely an item. Daryl Hannah’s admiration of Neil Young apparently began as a fan.

“She’s a huge Neil fan,” a source told them of the Kill Bill star. “They’ve known each other for years.”

People reports that the two have been dating ‘for months.’

“They’ve been dating for months,” a source told them. “They’ve taken no effort to even hide it. He recorded a new album a few weeks ago, and she was on Skype the entire time, giving him feedback on every take. He even told people in the studio she was his ‘girlfriend.’ ”

Neil Young just filed for divorce from his wife–Pegi Young–on July 29th. The two have been married for 36 years. Might his new relationship with Daryl Hannah have anything to do with the split? Pegi Young was said to be the inspiration behind several of Neil Young’s hit songs, including “Such a Woman,” “Once an Angel,” and “Unknown Legend.”

Daryl Hannah was once linked to the late John F. Kennedy, Jr., and is no novice when it comes to dating rock stars either. She was involved in a relationship with Jackson Browne from 1983 to 1992.

Neil Young founded the band Buffalo Springfield back in 1966, and in 1969 became known for his role in Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his music with Buffalo Springfield and as a solo artist as well.

In addition to Kill Bill, Daryl Hannah is known for roles in films like Splash, Wall Street, and Steel Magnolias.

So what’s your take on the relationship between Daryl Hannah and Neil Young? Is it a rumor? Are the two simply involved in a purely platonic friendship? Or is this the beginning of a romance between a 1960s rocker and an actress with a most eclectic style?

  • Katherine Webb Quits Reality TV Show ‘Splash’

Reality TV shows have been putting celebrities through their paces for years now, but perhaps no series has asked more of competitors than Splash. The new network show tasks celebrities (not all of whom are fit) with mastering the Olympic sport of high diving.

As with any Olympic sport, the risk of injury is ever-present, and now one competitor has withdrawn due to doctor’s orders.

Model and beauty queen Katherine Webb has now withdrawn from Splash. On this week’s show, Webb described her poor landing on last week’s show, and how it caused her pain. She is also shown becaming frustrated during her training. Webb took the stage to say,” I went to the doctor and, unfortunately, he told me that I’m out for the competition.”

Webb’s withdrawal is not the first of the series. In the show’s third episode, former Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson quit the show over her fear of heights.

Splash producers used Webb’s departure to introduce some drama, bringing back comedian Louie Anderson, who had been booted from the competition last week.

  • Kendra Wilkinson Quits ‘Splash’ Over Fear of Heights

Kendra Wilkinson may be skilled at modeling, but it turns out that high-diving isn’t her thing. This week, the former Playboy model was failed to make her dive on the new ABC reality show Splash, which features celebrities learning how to dive.

Wilkinson successfully made a dive on the show’s previous episode, but got cold feet on this week’s high-dive attempt. She stood on the top of the platform and began to cry as her co-diver, Rory Bushfield (a professional skier by trade), attempted to encourage her to dive. Eventually, Wilkinson decided that she could not get over her fear of heights and would not be diving. The host informed her that she would be eliminated from the show as she repeatedly said, “I’m sorry” to the live audience.

After the show, Wilkinson took to Twitter to explain her anxiety and apologize to her fans. She also fended off the heavy criticism that was tweeted her way. She explained that signing up for the show was a “big mistake” and that she had thought about quitting during last week’s episode.
