  • Anna Kendrick Will Give John Krasinski Some Tough Competition On “Lip Sync Battle” In More Ways Than One

Anna Kendrick and John Krasinski will be going head-to-head in tonight’s episode of Lip Sync Battle.

Of course, Anna Kendrick is always a force to be reckoned with when it comes to performing, and it seems tonight will be no different.

During a clip of tonight’s episode, for instance, Anna Kendrick makes a low jab at John Krasinski during a performance of One Direction’s “Steal My Girl”.

As Anna Kendrick begins her crooning, behind her a giant screen lights up with pictures of Krasinski’s wife, and previous Lip Sync Battle contestant, Emily Blunt.

Then, Anna Kendrick took it a step further when she unzipped her jacket to reveal a shirt with a picture of herself and her Into the Woods co-star, Emily Blunt, in a heart together.

It seems Anna Kendrick is looking to compete with John Krasinski for more than just a Lip Sync Battle victory!

Anna Kendrick will also attempt to help win the night with a steamy performance of Jennifer Lopez’s “Booty”, which will apparently feature a cameo of the booty-ful singer herself.

After Lopez appears, John Krasinski says, “Wait, wait, wait, what is happening?”

However, John Krasinski brings all he has to the table as he channels Tina Turner, glittery mini-dress and all, for a performance of “Proud Mary”.

It looks like an amazing night for Lip Sync Battle!

Lip Sync Battle will air tonight on Spike TV at 10/9c.

What do you think about Lip Sync Battle? Have you been watching and who has been you favorite Lip Sync-er so far?

And do you think Anna Kendrick will stomp John Krasinski tonight?

  • Chrissy Teigen in Hospital After Lip Sync Battle Injury

Chrissy Teigen broke her foot during a lip sync battle. That’s one of those sentences you might want to go back and read again. Go ahead. We’ll wait.

The model and wife of recent Golden Globe-winning musician John Legend has managed to make it through working on Deal or No Deal, gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, and appearing in music video for her hubby without suffering an injury. But trying to lip sync has reportedly strained the limits of Chrissy Teigen’s safety.

Chrissy Teigen posted a pic of herself in a black dress, in a hospital bed to Instagram.

“Then I cracked a foot bone,” Chrissy Teigen captioned the pic. “I regret nothing.”

Apparently Chrissy Teigen was actually filming for Spike TV’s new series Lip Sync Battle. Rolling Stone Magazine reported that LL Cool J had been recruited to host the new Spike show, which is based on a popular skit on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show.

“Like the rest of the world, I’m a big fan of these battles, but this show is going to bring it to a whole new level,” LL Cool J said in a press release. “I’m thrilled to be working with Jimmy Fallon, John Krasinski, Stephen Merchant and the entire team to host the show and can’t wait for the fans at home to join in!”

If those names sound familiar, they should. Jimmy Fallon is well-known to Americans. John Krasinski is best known for his role in the U.S. version of The Office as Jim Halpert. And Stephen Merchant is much better-known to UK audiences as the frequent partner of Ricky Gervais in producing such shows as the original UK version of The Office, as well as An Idiot Abroad.

“Lip sync battling is one of the coolest things happening in pop culture right now and already has a huge fan base thanks to the amazing talent involved,” Viacom Entertainment Group exec Casey Patterson said.

Then I cracked a foot bone. I regret nothing.

  • Don Rickles Gets Roasted By Tina Fey And Amy Poehler

You may have to wait until Wednesday to watch the whole show, but right now you can catch a glimpse of One Night Only: An All-Star Comedy Tribute to Don Rickles on the internet.

The star studded tribute has almost every comedian you’ve ever heard of, and then some you might have forgotten about. “We’re thrilled that David Letterman, Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart, Robert De Niro and so many more will be coming out to entertain and celebrate our hero — Don Rickles,” Casey Patterson, producer of event production at Viacom Entertainment Group said. “The genius of Rickles is in the danger, nobody is safe, and what you can expect is a night of comedy from these superstars worthy of a legend. It truly will be One Night Only.”

Of particular interest is the opening roast by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, which you can watch here:

The event will also include Brad Garrett, Robert De Niro, Jimmy Kimmel, Martin Scorsese, Tracy Morgan, Jon Stewart, Bob Newhart, and Regis Philbin, just to name a few more names.

”My humor is so over the top you’d have to be an awful fool to think I’m embarrassing you,” Rickles said back in 1996. ”When I pick someone from the audience, their eyes say, ‘I can take it.’ But if I’m wrong, I’ll never let them know it. When you sell yourself you just can’t back down. I absolutely believe that. You’ve got to stay with what got you to the dance. It’s an old expression but true.”

Plenty of comedians will have their own chance to pick on Rickles, and maybe a few others, as Tracy Morgan shows us in this clip:

  • Don Rickles Upcoming Fete Includes Jerry Seinfeld, David Letterman

Don Rickles will be lauded in a comedy-filled event on May 6th at New York’s Apollo Theater by guests including Jerry Seinfeld, David Letterman, Ray Romano and more. Stand-up performances, video clips, taped tributes by those not able to attend in person, and even some personal stories shared by close friends will all be part of the tribute to the 87-year-old funny man just two days before his 88th birthday. The 90-minute event will be taped for airing on Spike TV. Called One Night Only: An All-Star Comedy Tribute to Don Rickles, fans can tune in on May 28th at 9:00 P.M. to share in the fun.

How exciting that so many of comedy’s best will be gathered together for one event. In true Rickles form, his tweeted about the upcoming event.

Don Rickles earned two nicknames, “The Merchant of Venom” and “Mr. Warmth” for his mastery of insult comedy. He is noted for having picked on people of all ethnicities and from all walks of life. Some of his stand-up routines from decades ago would be deemed way beyond politically correct today. Rickles made his first appearance on The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson back in 1965, and wound up both guest hosting and appearing on the show more than 100 times during Carson’s reign. Even at 87, he is still active in stand-up comedy and makes frequent late night appearances on shows like the Late Show With David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Rickles was honored less than a year ago by New York’s Friar’s Club.

One Night Only: An All-Star Comedy Tribute to Don Rickles will no doubt be one of the biggest comedy events of 2014. Will you be tuning in to Spike to share in the laughter?

  • Don Rickles to Get Tribute from Jimmy Kimmel, Jerry Seinfeld, Bob Newhart

Don Rickles will get an all-star tribute from an impressive lineup of comedic celebrities such as Jimmy Kimmel, Bob Newhart, and Jerry Seinfeld next month. Robert De Niro, David Letterman, Tracy Morgan, Regis Philbin, Ray Romano, Martin Scorsese, John Stamos, and Jon Stewart are also slated to appear at the event.

The 90-minute tribute titled One Night Only: An All-Star Comedy Tribute to Don Rickles will be taped on May 6 at the Apollo Theater, a New York City landmark located in Harlem. The show will air May 28 on Spike Network.

“The genius of Rickles is in the danger, nobody is safe, and what you can expect is a night of comedy from these superstars worthy of a legend. It truly will be One Night Only,” said Casey Patterson, Executive Producer and Executive Vice President, Event Production & Talent Development, Viacom Entertainment Group, which owns Spike.

Rickles, a native of Queens, will turn 88 on May 8.

Often referred to as the “Merchant of Venom” or “Mr. Warmth,” Rickles is considered comedy’s master of the insult.

Early on, Rickles abandoned his dreams of becoming a serious actor to hone his nightclub act. In 1957, Frank Sinatra saw the act at Slate Brothers in Los Angeles and quickly became Rickles’ champion.

It wasn’t long before Rickles had caught the attention of Dean Martin and Johnny Carson and was headlining performances in Las Vegas.

”My humor is so over the top you’d have to be an awful fool to think I’m embarrassing you,” Rickles said in a 1996 interview with The New York Times. ”When I pick someone from the audience, their eyes say, ‘I can take it.’ But if I’m wrong, I’ll never let them know it. When you sell yourself you just can’t back down. I absolutely believe that. You’ve got to stay with what got you to the dance. It’s an old expression but true.”

Rickles and his wife Barbara celebrated their 49th anniversary in March. They’re the parents of two children, Larry and Mindy. Mindy followed in her father’s comedic footsteps.

One Night Only is a relatively new annual event on Spike. The first installment, which aired in 2012 and paid tribute to Eddie Murphy, remains the highest rated show in the network’s history.

  • VGX 2013 Gets The Parody It So Rightly Deserves

On Saturday night, Spike TV and GameTrailers hosted VGX 2013 – a rebranded video games awards show born from the VGAs of years past. Hopes were high this year as the network promised a show that would focus on the games and developers instead of advertisements and celebrity appearances. We got just that, but it somehow ended up being worse than before.

Over the span of three hours, we were treated to game reveals and new trailers for previously announced titles. The games that were announced ranged from boring (Tales from the Borderlands) to this is too good to announce at a show like this (No Man’s Sky). In between all that, gamers got to experience banter between a Joel McHale that obviously didn’t want to be there and a Geoff Keighley that was trying to keep it all together.

As you might expect, such a show is rife for parody and that’s just what Matt Lees at VideoGamer has done. Just like his past E3 press conference parodies, he takes the worst from VGX 2013 and gives us a reason to legitimately laugh at the latest attempt to capitalize on a gamer audience that’s tired of being treated like shut ins who still live in their parents’ basement.

If you didn’t get a chance to watch this year’s VGX show, you’re probably better off just watching the above video. The only thing I can recommend is that you check out the debut trailer for No Man’s Sky. It was quite literally the only redeeming moment from the entire show.

  • Bigfoot Might Finally Be Caught…By Superman

Bigfoot, that ever-elusive man-monster of the woods, is up there with Nessie as mythical creatures go. Everyone wants to be the one to snap a photo, to capture evidence of its existence. Next January, it could happen, and a former Superman is involved.

Dean Cain has signed on to host Spike TV’s “10 Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty”, a show that follows nine teams of Bigfoot enthusiasts who have spent their lives trying to prove the creature is real as they embark on an adventure that starts in the Pacific Northwest. Every week, the teams will travel to a new spot where people have claimed to have seen him. Using state-of-the-art equipment, the hunters will be able to “track” the creature using DNA samples.

    According to the press release:

“An avid outdoorsman and hunter, Cain will serve as the expedition leader helping the teams of “squatchers” as they use their skills to compete for a $10 million dollar prize. Each episode will follow the different teams as they search some of the most famous Bigfoot “hotzones” in America. Utilizing a state-of-the-art mobile DNA lab, teams will ply their extensive research and presumed knowledge of the legendary creature to collect scientific samples, often battling nature’s inhospitable conditions.”

The show will be produced by Original Media, who also did “Swamp People” and “LA Ink”.

  • South Park: The Stick Of Truth Gets A Hilarious New Trailer

This year, Spike TV’s VGAs did a good job of not absolutely embarrassing the gaming population at large by showing a decent amount of respect. The awards show also showcased some absolutely stunning new trailers for some of next year’s biggest releases. Some trailers were epic, while others were mysterious, but none can compare to the hilarity found in South Park: The Stick of Truth.

Developed by Obsidian Entertainment in conjunction with South Park Studios, The Stick of Truth aims to fully recreate the look and feel of the beloved TV series. Not only that, it’s attempting to take the TV series into a game genre it has yet to conquer – the RPG. The gameplay appears to be more like Paper Mario, however, in that player is actively engaged during battle with timed button presses and the like.

The game looks to be coming along nicely, but we probably won’t see it in 2013. Troubled publisher THQ recently pushed the game back to a 2014 release as it seeks to recover from its past few years of financial disappointment. The company might go under by then, but many South Parks fans are assumedly hoping that won’t be the case.

The delay shouldn’t be that bad though. 2013 is shaping up to be one hell of a year for games. We’ll have plenty to play as we wait for what looks to be the best licensed game ever made.

  • The Phantom Pain Trailer Gives Off Metal Gear Vibes

Over the weekend, Spike TV hosted its annual Video Game Awards. There were few surprises outside of an announcement for Dark Souls II, but one trailer in particular is still causing fierce discussion and speculation across the gaming world.

On Friday night, an unknown developer called Moby Dick Studios revealed its newest game, The Phantom Pain. The trailer features an amputee as he is trying to escape a hospital while everything around him is going to hell. It also appears that the main character may also be hallucinating as he sees people and horses made of fire while a giant flying whale eats a helicopter. It’s kind of hard to explain so you should just check out the trailer:

Shortly after the trailer went live, speculation began to run rampant that this trailer is just a clever ruse orchestrated by none other than Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear Solid fame. Many elements from the trailer hearken back to previous Metal Gear games with the man in the fire looking a lot like Volgin from Metal Gear Solid 3 and the main character in question looking too much like Snake for it to be a mere coincidence. You can find out more about Metal Gear nods in the trailer by checking out the comprehensive thread over at NeoGAF.

Many speculate that The Phantom Pain is in fact Metal Gear Solid V. They note that the V in this case is not the roman numeral for five, but rather the letter “V” for victory. Some argue that this may be a prequel to the already announced Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, Kojima’s open world game that’s running on his studio’s FOX engine. We won’t know anything for sure until Konami or Moby Dick Studios spills the beans.

  • Paige Butcher Takes Over The Web

Paige Butcher Takes Over The Web

Aussie actress and model Paige Butcher has, until now, been fairly low-key in Hollywood. With small parts in a couple of movies and a place on Maxim’s “Hot 100” list, she did make a spark..but it’s nothing compared to her popularity now.

The 33-year old is now dating Eddie Murphy, a surefire way to get noticed in Tinseltown. When she showed up at a Spike TV event on his arm last week, talk turned quickly from the actor’s retirement to questions of who that hot blonde was. People wanted to know more, and their curiosity still isn’t satiated. Twitter is buzzing about Butcher, and Murphy’s good taste, as we move into the weekend.
