  • Mom Turns in Son After Spotting Him on Police Facebook Page

This is going to be an awkward Thanksgiving.

Police in Casselberry, Florida, like many police departments around the country, have taken to Facebook and Twitter over the past few years to get help in solving crimes, locating fugitives, and getting general information out to the public. Over the years, I’ve seen story after story about criminals commenting on their own Facebook wanted posters, taunting the police on Facebook, and more general stupidity.

    But this is a first.

According to WFTV, an 18-year-old has been arrested and charged with retail theft and shoplifting after his mom saw his photo on the local police department’s Facebook page and turned him in.

This was the post she saw, which claims that the man on the surveillance video stole approximately $670 worth of PlayStation and Xbox controllers from a local Target.

    From WFTV:

According to police, a woman contacted them to say she had seen the Facebook post and the young man they were looking for was her son.

Police said they went to the home of Joel Brown, 18, where they found him wearing the same sweatshirt seen in the surveillance photos. Brown was arrested.

Even your mom thinks stealing Xbox controllers from Target is a douchey thing to do. I guess it’s just tough love. Really, really tough love.

  • Brett Favre Would Be Worried About A Son Playing Football [Video]

Brett Favre came out in an interview with Matt Lauer of NBC, revealing that he would be leery of a son playing in the NFL today. Favre is one of the latest people to come out about the health problems that he has suffered since leaving the NFL.

As a quarterback that stuck around for a long time, he was also sacked more than most people that have played the game of football, giving him serious damage to his brain. Favre does not have a son, and only has girls that are into sports, but in the interview, he mentioned that “In some respects, I’m almost glad I don’t have a son because of the pressures he would face.”

Brett Favre is a retired NFL quarterback, who played many years with the Green Bay Packers, and finished off his career on a bit of a disappointing note, as he was injured as a Viking. He is now 44-years-old, and despite the recent offer, he has said that he has no intentions of returning to the NFL.

Before this interview with Today, he also revealed recently that he had been suffering memory problems. He shared his fears of what his long NFL career had done to him and his health, revealing that there were things about his daughter playing sports that he simply could not remember anymore.

Ironically, that news came just days after the Rams were struggling to find a quarterback, and had called up the old star.

He also chose to address the issue of bullying that has occurred with the Miami Dolphins recently in his interview, and some fans did not like what he had to say.

As more and more former NFL stars continue to come out about the health problems that they have faced since leaving the league, it only seems fitting that Brett Favre would go through the same thing, after the number of sacks that he was forced to endure throughout his career.

How do you feel about the issue? Would you want your son playing in the NFL? Discuss.

The entire interview between Brett Favre and Matt Lauer is set to air on Monday’s edition of The Today Show.

  • Adrian Peterson Expected to Play vs. Panthers

It’s been a whirlwind week for Minnesota Vikings’ star running back, Adrian Peterson. He and his family were scheduled to meet his two-year-old son for the first time at the end of this month. Unfortunately, a tragic turn of events changed the dynamic of everything when the child died on Friday.

However, Peterson intends to forge on in today’s game against the Carolina Panthers. Earlier this morning, NFL.com reported that Media Insider, Ian Rapoport spoke on the NFL Network’s “NFL GameDay Morning” in regards to Peterson’s status. Rapoport stated that Peterson will play for the Vikings in today’s game. Vikings officials also confirmed that Peterson is classified as active.

While Peterson was absent from practice on Thursday in wake of the accident, he did return to the Vikings’ facility on Friday. He also issued a brief statement of address that afternoon.
“I should start off by saying I really appreciate all the support that I’ve been receiving from fans (and) the Vikings organization,” Peterson said. “This is a private matter, and I would ask you all to please just respect my privacy and not ask at all about the situation at hand. Thanks.” The running back also indicated that he planned to play today, but it had not yet been confirmed.

For those who missed it earlier this week, Peterson’s two-year-old son was allegedly beaten by his mother’s love interest, Joseph Robert Patterson. The child sustained severe head injuries after being struck in the head with a steel rod. Paramedics reported that the boy was in ‘grave condition’ upon their arrival.

On Friday morning the child was removed from life support. At 11:43am, he died at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Patterson was arrested, and will face charges for aggravated assault and battery of an infant. The prosecution has stated that Patterson, 27, has a history of child abuse, as he had harmed the child once before. He was also convicted with similar charges after beating another child from a previous relationship.

Amid the child’s untimely death, Peterson chimed in on Twitter with a few messages to the NFL and fans thanking them for their support during this time of bereavement.

  • Halle Berry Reveals The Name For Her Baby Boy

Halle Berry and her husband Oliver Martinez recently gave birth to a baby boy on Saturday, October 5th. He is the baby brother of Nahla, who is 5 years old and Berry’s first child. Her and Martinez have been married since July of this year, after being married in an intimate wedding in France. They met on the set of Dark Tide, a film which was released in 2010.

While the big news of the baby being born was revealed over the weekend, fans were excited to hear the news, but were not able to know his name until now. Their boy’s name is Maceo-Robert. The couple have decided to hyphenate the name in order to give him a combination of the origins between the two of them. People Magazine mentions that the Maceo part of his name is of spanish origin. However, the second part of his name is also linked with Martinez, and is a nod to his father, Robert Martinez, who was a spanish boxer.

The name Maceo means “Gift Of God.” The couple wanted to pick a name that would work well in France and the U.S. A more modern version of Maceo would be Mateo or Matthew, according to TMZ.

It was revealed that the couple were expecting a child in June. Berry was very excited to be a mom, but despite the pregnancy she also continued to act and just finished filming a Steven Spielberg drama series that will air on CBS in 2014 called Extant. Upon finding out that she was pregnant, Berry said “It’s one of the best things that happened in my life, for sure.”

Due to the actress’ age of 47, the pregnancy came as quite a shock to her, but she was very happy to be able to give her daughter a little brother. Berry is an Oscar winning actress, and received the award for her role in the 2002 film, Monster’s Ball. Martinez is a French actor who appeared in numerous French films earlier in his career and has since made the switch to American cinema, with films such as Unfaithful and Taking Lives. He is currently working on a film called The Physician.

  • Fergie, Josh Duhamel Share Son’s First Pictures

Most celebrities are relatively selective in determining the right time to go public with pictures of their baby. Fergie and Josh Duhamel appeared to be in that same number as of September 16. When asked when the world could see a picture of their son, Axl Jack, the “Life as We Know It” actor kindly replied via Twitter, stating that he and his wife wanted him ‘all to themselves.’ However, the two must have had a sudden change of her heart.

On the following day, Fergie and Josh Duhamel proved they no longer had any reservations about offering a glimpse of their first-born, when they debuted the first public pictures of their son to the world. On September 17, the “Glamorous Life” singer and her husband both decided to reveal pictures of their 3-week-old son, via Twitter. The proud mother took the liberty of posting first.

A couple hours later, Duhamel posted a picture of his own from the day his son was born.

According to Access Hollywood, the two even decided to share yet another picture of their son on Saturday, just a couple days after debuting his first pictures. However this time, little Axl decided to open his eyes! Josh Duhamel’s version of the adorable picture included a light-hearted caption at the bottom that read, “Go Bison,” – a declaration to the state football team for his home state of North Dakota.

The couple welcomed their first-born into the world last month on August 29.

  • Nick Lachey and Wife Vanessa Celebrate Son’s First Birthday

This time last year, pop singer Nick Lachey and his wife, Vanessa, embarked onto the road of parenthood with the birth of their son Camden. Now, fast forward 12 months, and it’s Camden’s first birthday. Time definitely flies! The couple showed their admiration with a celebration to commemorate the boy’s special day. But, oddly, the party wasn’t quite what you’d expect from a celebrity couple. In fact, the celebration was a bit more gratifying, because it was mere simplicity at it’s best. No circus, face paintings, petting zoo, or party theme.

On Wednesday, September 11, Nick’s brother and 98 Degrees band mate, Drew Lachey, and his wife Lea, kicked off the birthday festivities. They came bearing cupcakes, which Vanessa Lachey proudly shared with the world in a Twitter picture.

Then, on Thursday, September 12, Nick and Vanessa celebrated the boy’s official date of birth. This time it was Nick’s turn to tweet, wishing his son a happy birthday.

According to Reality TV Magazine, the couple agreed not to go overboard for their son’s first birthday, as the celebration was more-less for them, as opposed to him. “I won’t do a pool party for his first birthday ’cause I feel like we have the rest of his life to do pool parties. He’s 1. This one’s for mom and dad,” said Vanessa to People Magazine. The celebration was a small, quaint family affair, just how it should be for a little person surrounded by such an abundance of love. The couple was also gracious enough to show their gratitude to all the fans who extended birthday wishes to Camden as well.

  • Judge Judy’s Son Files Suit Against Sheriff

Judge Judy’s son, Adam B. Levy, the district attorney for Putnam County, New York, is suing the county sheriff.

Levy says county Sheriff Donald Smith “maliciously attempted to destroy” his reputation during a child rape case involving Levy’s former personal trainer. He also said Smith is “an out-of-control sheriff who does not care about the truth.”

The sheriff denies the accusation, implying the timing was intended to damage the sheriff’s re-election campaign and that it was “blatantly political.”

In March, Levy’s trainer, Alexandru Hossu, was arrested and charged in connection with the rape of a 12-year-old girl back in 2010. Levy said he recused himself from the case once he knew Hossu was under investigation.

Here’s where Levy found an issue with Sheriff Smith. The sheriff said Levy had “ongoing and improper involvement” in the case and that he was “apparently trying to influence and affect the investigation.” In a news release in March, the sheriff said, “Mr. Levy’s comments and actions would seem to suggest that, if he could have his own way, Mr. Hossu would never have been brought to justice for his crime and Mr. Levy’s relationship with him would never have been brought to the light of public scrutiny.”

Putnam County judges have also recused themselves from the case, causing it to be moved to Westchester County. Hossu has plead not guilty.

Levy’s mother, Judy Sheindlin, more commonly known as “Judge Judy”, is a retired Family Court judge. In a statement released Wednesday, she said her son was “principled, honorable and dedicated.” She added, “His moral compass is dead center. When someone attacks his character professionally or personally they best be prepared to back it up – shut up – or pay up.”

In the lawsuit filed by Levy, he listed Sheriff Smith as an individual, not a county employee, which should mean county tax payers won’t be liable, according to Levy’s lawyer, Michael Sussman.

  • Hugh Hefner’s Son Pleads No Contest To Domestic Violence Charge

Hugh Hefner, the infamous founder of Playboy magazine, is in headlines today after his 21-year old son Marston pleaded no contest to charges of domestic violence filed by his girlfriend, Playmate Claire Sinclair.

Sentencing will be on June 12 and will likely include at least one year of domestic abuse counseling and a court order to stay away from Sinclair for three years. Sinclair, who was Playmate of the year in 2011, says Marston kicked and punched her during an argument. Marston reportedly told police that the two of them had argued, but it never got physical. He was eventually arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence and was later released on $20,000 bail.

After the model filed an emergency restraining order against her boyfriend in February, she was photographed while removing her belongings from the apartment they shared sporting a large bruise on her upper arm.

  • Clark Kellogg’s Proud Parent Moment

    Clark Kellogg’s Proud Parent Moment

Clark Kellogg’s son, Nick Kellogg , made it to the Sweet Sixteen over the weekend, with the underdog Ohio Bobcats.

Clark was calling the Lehigh / Xavier game when the 13 seed pulled another upset against South Florida to make it to the Sweet Sixteen. Ohio is the first 13 seed to make it this far in the tournament.

Kellogg was a little distracted during his play calling, watching the final seconds of the Bobcats game tick down, when Jim Nantz brought it to the attention of the TV audience.

Kellogg got a little emotional when Nantz asked if he go this nervous during his own career: “It’s all different when your kids are doing it. It’s a total different experience.”

“O wow, oh my goodness, oh my goodness. Way to go Bobcats!” Kellogg shouted after the final seconds wore out.

Clark will have to continue to watch his son while broadcasting. He will be in Atlanta calling the Baylor-Xavier and Kentucky-Indiana games while Nick is taking on North Carolina in St. Louis.
