  • Paula Abdul, Jason Derulo Sign on to ‘So You Think You Can Dance’

Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo are coming on board as judges for the upcoming 12th season of So You Think You Can Dance. Fox confirmed the pair this week. Abdul and Derulo will join veteran judge Nigel Lythgoe. Longtime judge Mary Murphy isn’t returning to the show.

Jason Derulo, who is 25, has served as a guest judge, performed on past episodes of the show, and has lent his music to many routines on So You Think You Can Dance in previous seasons. He excited to become a part of the permanent judging panel.

“[SYTYCD] is one of the most respected and longest-tenured shows on network television, and I hope to be a part of new growth and continued success,” the “Wiggle” singer told Us Weekly.

Paula Abdul tweeted her excitement about joining the show.

Paula Abdul is no stranger to the Fox network, having appeared as a judge on American Idol from 2002 to 2009, and on The X Factor for one season in 2011.

Season 12, which will appear on Fox this summer, begins auditions at the end of January. This season will differ from past seasons, with street dancers competing against classically trained dancers in an effort to determine America’s Favorite Dancer. This is right up Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo’s alley. Abdul, of course, is a former choreographer. Derulo is known for some amazing moves during his concert performances.

What do you think of Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo serving as judges on So You Think You Can Dance? Will they be a good fit with Nigel Lythgoe?

  • Chelsie Hightower Not Competing On DWTS Season 18

This past Monday’s Dancing With The Stars season 18 lineup included a lot of new faces to the show, along with various pro-dancer favorites as well. Among the favorites returning to Dancing With The Stars season 18 was Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who had been on a hiatus for a season, but not recurring pro-dancing favorite Chelsie Hightower.

Hightower, 24, from Las Vegas, NV, first started her television-dancing career when she appeared on the FOX dancing/reality show So You Think You Can Dance during the show’s fourth season. Hightower was eliminated from So You Think You Can Dance in July of 2008 after securing her place into the contestant’s top sixth rankings. One of Hightower’s most memorable performances on the show was when she performed “Bleeding Love” with other So You Think You Can Dance contestant Mark Kanemura, who has recently been working closely with Lady Gaga.

Hightower has been involved with Dancing With The Stars since the show’s eighth season when she was paired with rodeo cowboy Ty Murray. Hightower has also been involved with Dancing With The Stars up to its fifteenth season. Many of Hightower’s fans were expecting a comeback appearance for the 18th season; however, according to SheKnows.com’s Reality TV Magazine, Hightower will be involved with ABC’s dance/reality show in a different way–by contributing her thoughts and feedback regarding the performances on the show’s ABC Blog.

On Tuesday morning, the day after Dancing With The Stars‘ season 18’s premiere, Hightower appeared on Good Morning America to recap and discuss her insights into the premiere as well.

SheKnows.com’s Reality TV Magazine offered the following statement pertaining to Hightower’s absence from Dancing With The Stars season 18.

“While it’s sad that she’s no longer on stage, it is nice to know that Chelsie still considers herself a part of the DWTS community. The dancer has dedicated herself to providing other fans with excellent insight into everything from costumes to choreography.”

Other So You Think You Can Dance alumni who are not returning for season 18 of Dancing With The Stars but have been involved with the show in the past are Lacey Schwimmer and Dmitry Chaplin; however, Lindsay Arnold continues her involvement with the Dancing With The Stars troupe, and Witney Carson has started her pro-dancer career on the show as she pairs with Australian singer Cody Simpson.

  • Allison Holker And Stephen “tWitch” Boss From SYTYCD Are Now Married

Both the dance world along with various So You Think You Can Dance fans celebrated as word spread around the country (as well as around the globe) of the announcement of marriage between the professional and commercial dance couple Allison Holker and Stephen Boss (commonly known as “tWitch”) happened on Tuesday, December 10th, 2013.

Holker and Boss both met as dancers on the FOX television dance-reality show So You Think You Can Dance; however, their competitions on the show happened during different seasons. Holker competed during season two of the show as a contemporary dancer, and Boss competed during the show’s fourth season as a hip-hop dancer. The couple has also appeared on the show as “All Stars” to partner with new contestants in various other seasons.

According to US Weekly, the So You Think You Can Dance couple exchanged vows and replied “I do” this past Tuesday. The setting for their wedding was the Villa San Juliette Vineyard and Winery, located in Paso Robles, California, and owned by the show’s Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe.

The wedding party included other various dancers from the show. The bride’s side included: Courtney Galiano (Contemporary, Season Four), Kathryn McCormick (Contemporary, Season Six), and bridesman Travis Wall (Contemporary, Season Two). The groom’s side included: William Wingfield (Contemporary, Season Four), Joshua Allen (Hip Hop, Season Four), and Comfort Fedoke (Hip Hop, Season Four).

  • Raquel Welch: Was She Frozen in Time?

Was Raquel Welch somehow frozen in time? The 73-year-old beauty appeared on Saturday at the 2013 Governors Awards, and her looks rival those of a 40-year-old woman.

Wearing an off-the-shoulder red gown, with a V-neck plunging down to there and a slit that came up almost to it, Welch looked every bit the elegant woman she has been for decades. The body-hugging number didn’t reveal a bump or a bulge. It’s no wonder younger men find her attractive!

One younger man who definitely finds Raquel Welch attractive, but was also quick to point out that the two didn’t hook up per recent rumors, is Nigel Lythgoe of both American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance fame. Rumors had the two dating since September and more recently had an impending wedding date set for them to tie that proverbial knot. Not true and not true, however.

Women everywhere want to know how Raquel has managed to stay so beautiful for so many years. She shares some of her beauty tips in the film clip below.

All the beauty tips in the world won’t render the average woman nearly as gorgeous as Raquel Welch. Even Jane Fonda, who is pretty pulled together for 75 years old, can’t hold a candle to Welch.

Some young people might ask exactly what Raquel Welch is famous for, besides looking good. She starred in a 1966 film called One Million Years B.C., in which she wore a tiny fur bikini that instantly catapulted her into stardom. She starred in a handful of films over the next few years and in 2013 became a spokesperson for Foster Grant sunglasses. And there you have it!

Despite the small roles she played, Raquel Welch still makes a big splash when she enters a room–just the way she did Saturday evening in Hollywood at the 2013 Governors Awards. And she will no doubt continue doing exactly that for a good many years to come.

  • Paula Abdul Hits “So You Think You Can Dance”

Paula Abdul, some might be surprised to know, was one of the biggest choreographers of the day in the ’80s and early ’90s. As a Laker girl, she strutted her stuff courtside before helping big-name stars like Janet Jackson figure out their moves for videos and the stage (ever seen the video for “Nasty Boys”? Paula is in there as one of Janet’s friends, big ’80s hair and all). These days, she’s best known to the young’uns as the wacky judge from “American Idol”, but back in the day she could hoof it with the best of them. Now, some dancers are going to see their dreams come true when she plays guest judge on “So You Think You Can Dance”.

The guest spot is for one night only–tonight–and she’ll be joined by Fox Sports hottie Erin Andrews.

  • Cat Deeley Weds In Secret Ceremony, Shocks Fans

Cat Deeley married beau Patrick Kielty in Rome over the weekend in a super-secret ceremony, shocking fans and friends. The couple has been together since around Christmas of last year.

Deeley, who hosts the popular show “So You Think You Can Dance”, met Kielty in 2002 when they were both filming a reality show called Fame Academy. The couple followed up their ceremony with a small, quiet reception with just sixty guests.

A “source” close to the couple told MSN that the wedding was a total surprise to the guests.

“It was the most beautiful, gorgeous, chic and romantic wedding I’ve ever been to. The whole thing was sprung on the guests at the last minute, but you can tell a lot of time had gone in to the planning.”

All of the judges requested various routines to be performed from the season, such as:

The winners announced for season 9 were both from the ballet genre: Eliana Girard (from West Palm Beach, Florida) and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp (from Zurich, Switzerland).

What is your opinion of the results? Who do you think should have won? Let us know in the comments!

  • SYTYCD Season 9 Dallas Auditions, Twitter Reacts

Yesterday (Thursday, May 24th, 2012) marked a big day in TV debuts. On the ABC network, the first season of Duets aired, and on the FOX network, the ninth season of So You Think You Can Dance aired as well.

Usually with the auditions on So You Think You Can Dance, some of the most noteworthy performances that get the attention of the public are: the dances that you do not see every day, the creepy and scary, and the ones that aren’t even dancing at all. With this in mind, I would like to bring your attention to two performances that received a lot of praise and mixed Twitter attention as well.

As a social/ballroom dancer, I’m surprised there weren’t any social/ballroom dancers (at least televised) that auditioned in the first episode; however, telling from the dancers that have already gone through to Vegas Week, it seems like this upcoming season is going to be very competitive!
