7-Eleven vice president of marketing and brand innovation Laura Gordon said in a release, “7-Eleven Day is a celebration, not only of our birthday, but more importantly, of our customers.”

The company first introduced Slurpee drinks in its stores in 1966 with wild cherry. Now you can get grape, strawberry, lemonade, orange creme, Hawaiian Punch, dragon fruit, kiwi strawberry, and the new Sour Patch Watermelon

7-Eleven has been giving away free Slurpees on this day every year since 2002. This promotion is joined by “Bring Your Own Cup Day,” which was held in April.

“Last year, our Slurpee party was 8 million strong. We expect it could be even bigger this year. Even without the millions of free birthday Slurpee drinks given away, July is the biggest month of the year in terms of Slurpee sales,” Gordon said. “What better drink for the hottest month of the year.”

Some folks are making it their day’s fun to hit every 7-Eleven in their area to get a free Slurpee at each one. some are walking, some are driving. The point is to rack up Slurpee points and post to social media as you score with the hashtag #FreeSlurpeeDay.

  • Free Slurpee Day! Syrupy Brain Freezes for All!

Today is July 11th – or 7/11. And in honor of this hot, summer day, convenience store chain 7-Eleven is giving everyone a free Slurpee (as long as supplies last, of course).

Free Slurpee Day is just about to begin – kicking off at 11 am and running until 7 pm. If you visit a 7-Eleven store in that time frame, you’re entitled to one free small Slurpee. It’s that easy. No coupons necessary, no questions asked.

Today, 7-Eleven expects to give away 7 million Slurpees or so, which is up a few million from the past couple of years. Free Slurpee Day has become an unofficial national holiday.

7-Eleven is attempting to spread some viral cheer with a new “Dance Party” promotion tied to this year’s Free Slurpee Day. They’re asking customers (who’ve just scored their free Slurpees, I guess), to create their own dance videos and post them on YouTube, Vine, Instagram, or whatever. They’re also asking that Slurpee dancers share the videos across other social networks and make sure to tag @Slurpee and hashtag #slurpeedance.

For 7-Eleven, it’s not just about spreading good cheer. Free Slurpee Day has been known to boost sales. Sure, you could go hopping from 7-Eleven to 7-Eleven, scoring free small Slurpees all day – but apparently, people simply like to buy more Slurpees after they get a taste of one.

Plus, a Slurpee goes down better with a bag of chips, some beef jerky, or another high-sugar treat, right? In the past, Slurpee sales have been known to increase as much as 40% on Free Slurpee Day.

  • Free Slurpee Day: 7-Eleven Stores Celebrate On 7/11

    Free Slurpee Day is here!

7-Eleven stores across the country are giving away free Slurpees today to celebrate the 86th anniversary of the company. The frosty drinks are available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in 7.11-ounce cups.

The stores are offering special, limited-time flavors just for the months of July and August, such as Slurpee Lite Sugar Free Mango Lemonade and Slurpee Strawberry Lemonshade. They also have a mobile app chock-full of coupons for free and discounted items like drinks and Snickers Ice Cream Bars.

According to the company’s website, the Slurpee was born when the founder had to stick bottles of soda in the freezer when the refrigerator broke down. Because it was such a hot day, customers formed a line out the door to get one of the cold, slushy drinks. Now, the Slurpee is a staple of the business and boasts several different flavors.
