  • Erin Andrews Freaked out by Sherman Rant

In the waning seconds of Sunday’s NFC Championship matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, it seemed the Niners were poised for a comeback win. Down 23-17, they made up for the sloppy play of their previous few possessions, cruising downfield to set up a potential game winning touchdown. But thanks to the self-proclaimed “best corner in the game,” Seahawks CB Richard Sherman, San Francisco fans were to leave CenturyLink Field disappointed. Sherman tipped a pass into the hands of teammate Malcolm Smith for a game-sealing interception. Sherman picked up the obligatory unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for harassing intended receiver Michael Crabtree (an ironic buttpat and some choice words to which Crabtree responded with a hearty shove), and the Seahawks ran out the clock.

    Then this happened:

For those who don’t speak tickedoffese, that was “I’m the best corner in the game! When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that’s the result you’re going to get. Don’t you ever talk about me.”

The screed was enough to nonplus even a veteran sportscaster like Erin Andrews. After inquiring who specifically was “talking about [him],” Sherman continued, loudly, “Crabtree. Don’t you open your mouth about the best, or I’ll shut it for you real quick. LOB!” [Note: “LOB” stands for “Legion of Boom,” the nickname of the Seattle defense.]

Sherman is a 25-year-old graduate of Stanford, where he played for current 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh and majored in communications. But despite his field of study, some have speculated that his rant evidenced a lack of media savvy:

    But not everyone’s hating:

And for his part, Sherman tweeted this somewhat cryptic response:

    And so begins the meme-ing:

“Mr. Peabody & Sherman” Trailer Released

Mr. Peabody & Sherman, the upcoming movie about the world’s most amazing and intelligent dog whose sidekick is an impish yet good-hearted boy, is currently set for a March 7, 2014 release. The story line focuses, comically, on a genius dog who adopts a boy. Yes, that’s right. The dog is the parent. Who would have thought? Fans are already getting excited for the release.

Dreamworks Animation and 20th Century Fox are teaming up together to adapt the 1960’s The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show‘s skit to the big screen, which has been directed by Rob Minkoff. Many talented stars are lending their voices to bring these characters to life. Ty Burrell of Modern Family fame will carry the voice of Mr. Peabody while Max Charles from the The Amazing Spider-Man will voice Sherman. Allison Janney from the hit, Mom, will portray Mrs. Grunion.

The official synopsis for the movie is the following:

Mr. Peabody, the most accomplished dog in the world, and his mischievous boy Sherman, use their time machine—the Wabac—to go on the most outrageous adventures known to man or dog. But when Sherman takes the Wabac out for a joyride to impress his friend Penny, they accidently rip a hole in the universe, wreaking havoc on the most important events in world history. Before they forever alter the past, present and future, Mr. Peabody must come to their rescue, ultimately facing the most daunting challenge of any era: figuring out how to be a parent. Together, the time-traveling trio will make their mark on history.

History buffs and satirists should enjoy the witty dialogue and historical references while children old and young should enjoy the unique idea of a boy being raised by an intellectually-gifted dog.
