Lily Allen Raises Ire of Christians

Lilly Allen raised the ire of Christians recently when she performed in a faux Nativity scene during a concert in Brixton, England about a week ago. The singer rolled around in a faux-manger stuffed with hay while biblical representations of donkeys and gifts danced behind her at the O2 Academy.

British newspaper the Independent reports that many were upset by what is being called a crass move.

“This could be extremely offensive to many Christians. It is important that all religions are given the respect they deserve and I can certainly understand why some Christians believe their deeply held views are being squeezed out,” said Martin Vickers, a conservative member of Parliament.

Stephen Green is a spokesperson for the religious advocacy group Christian Voice. He said in a recent interview, “It is tasteless, it is disrespectful and it is crass.”

Lily Allen’s only comment regarding the faux Nativity scene came in the form of a tweet.

Lily Allen’s most recent album is titled “Sheezus,” and it was just named one of SPIN’s 20 Best Pop Albums of 2014. Do you expect any of her fans were insulted or irked by her actions inside the faux Nativity or do you think they share her feelings that it was no big deal?

Do you think the anger on behalf Christian groups with regard to Lily Allen’s behavior is justified?

Lily Allen On How “Weird” Social Media Is

Lily Allen spoke up about her feelings regarding social media recently, particularly sites like Instagram and Twitter that only give glimpses into someone’s life. The singer may use the services herself, but she says it’s weird that we all enjoy looking at photos of other people all the time.

“We live in a world where people are obsessed with the way everybody looks. It’s just the way it is. Instagram is huge, even bigger than Twitter these days, and that’s because people want to look at pictures of other people. It’s fucking weird that we’re all doing it,” she said.

The singer, who just released Sheezus, has taken quite a bit of criticism over the way she looks (like most females in the spotlight), from her weight to her hair, so it’s not surprising that she might have mixed feelings about sites like Instagram. Allen isn’t shy about using it, however, posting photos recently of her brightly colored tresses.

Despite the criticism, Allen has remained dedicated to her craft and says she wouldn’t even let her personal life come before fans.

“I actually had to cancel a bunch of European dates. It was because of poor ticket sales, not because I wanted to spend some more time with my family. But my PR people were saying, ‘That’s the way we should play it, and say that you want to be with your kids.’ But it’s not true. I mean, I do want to be with my kids, but I would never use them as an excuse to cancel shows. It is tough, but once you’ve made a commitment and people have started buying tickets to your show, I couldn’t just cancel a week before a gig. That would be grossly unfair,” she said.

  • Lily Allen’s Alleged Behavior Has Friends Worried About A Return to the Party Life

Lily Allen has a history of some pretty serious partying in the day, and now friends are worried that she has returned to her wild past, according to the British magazine Grazia.

The British singer became an overnight sensation in 2006 with her debut single, Smile, and knew how to get her party on.

But things changed after she married husband Sam Cooper, had their two daughters, Marnie and Ethel, and turned her back on the limelight and the music scene to settle into a more domestic existence.

Earlier this year, Allen released her third studio album, Sheezus, and with the return to the music scene, seems to have slipped right back into her old ways – according to Grazia.

“It’s like, as soon as she had her new album out, she jumped into a Tardis and went back to Lily Allen 2005. She seemed to be keen to prove she could be a success again and could get the whole pop star mommy thing totally right,” a source told the magazine.

“But there are some who think she has succumbed to all the pressures that forced her to retreat from the spotlight last time. She’s rumored to have lost three stone on a self-proclaimed diet of crisps, she is prolific on Twitter and reacts to any negative comments. It feels as if she’s allowing herself to get sucked right back into that world,” said the source.

Allen has been touring with Miley Cyrus in America and that can’t be good for her if she wants to avoid temptation.

Reports say the singer is upset over mixed reviews of the new album, which may make her want to blow off some steam. Still, the insider remembers how Allen struggled to remove herself from the limelight.

“The crazy thing is it was such a battle for her to have kids and get out of the celebrity world. She was so happy when she married Sam, and she kept saying that all she ever wanted was a normal life in the country with and their kids,” the insider added.
