    Stroke Selfie Saves Woman’s Life

A Canadian woman, who was suffering from a series of mini-strokes, may have saved her own life by recording her stroke with a selfie.

In April, Stacey Yepes started experiencing symptoms of a stroke; her face was going numb and she was having trouble speaking. After the symptoms had subsided, Stacey went to the emergency room to be checked out by doctors. The doctors examined Stacey and told her that they thought the symptoms were simply stress related and gave her tips on how to cope with stress.

A couple days later, Stacey was driving to work when she started feeling the numbness in her face again. Determined to make the doctors understand what was going on, Stacey immediately pulled over and started recording her symptoms. In the video, you can clearly see that something is wrong with Stacey’s face; she is unable to smile or lift her arm. Yepes showed the video to her co-workers, who urged her to go to a different hospital.

“I think it was just to show somebody, because I knew it was not stress-related,” Yepes said. “And I thought if I could show somebody what was happening, they would have a better understanding.”

Stacey then took the video to another doctor, who diagnosed her with transient ischemic attack, otherwise known as a mini-stroke, that was caused by plaque build up in her arteries. The diagnosis was confirmed by an MRI scan.

“In all my years treating stroke patients, we’ve never seen anyone tape themselves before,” Dr. Cheryl Jaigobin, the stroke neurologist at the Toronto Western Hospital’s stroke center said. “Her symptoms were compelling, and the fact she stopped and found a way to portray them in such a visual fashion, we were all touched by it.”

Stacey is currently feeling better and is taking a combination of cholesterol-lowering medications and blood thinners. She hopes to be able to return to her job sometime in July.

  • Miley Cyrus Goes Topless…Again

    Miley Cyrus Goes Topless…Again

Don’t worry, it’s just Miley being Miley.

By now we know that former teen actress turned pop super star Miley Cyrus doesn’t have an issue with letting the world see her as nature intended.

    Remember the Wrecking Ball video?

Cyrus took to Instagram over the weekend and posted a topless mirror-selfie with the caption #preshoweralfalfaselfielife before she took a shower.

She cleverly positioned her arms and camera to save the image from being pornographic, however, an octopus was needed post-shot to cover up a certain exposed area.

    What’s a pre-shower selfie without a post-shower selfie to go with it?

The pop singer formerly but forever known as Hannah Montana also posted the cleaner selfie with the caption #postshowerinstagramwhoreselfielife. She’s wearing a top in this one.

    And the Twitter World reacted:

Cyrus has been out supporting her fourth studio album Bangerz, which features the massive hits Wrecking Ball and We Can’t Stop. You can get a full list of dates for The Bangerz Tour at Ticketmaster.com.

Cyrus has also been in the news lately for more serious reasons. Two people were recently charged with stealing items from the singer’s house. The stolen items included Cyrus’ Maserati, jewelry, purses, and clothing. Both Tylor Scott, 19 years-old, and Naomi Charlies, 21-years-old, were charged with first-degree residential burglary, grand theft auto, and unlawful driving or taking of a vehicle.

The prosecutors in the case said that the pair pleaded not guilty to the charges last Monday. They are due back in criminal court on June 18.

  • Squirrel Selfie Goes Wrong For Photographer

Random fact about squirrels, they don’t like having their pictures taken. One Maine teenager found this out the hard way when he tried to take a selfie with a squirrel he met while taking a hike.

Seventeen-year-old Brian Genest was visiting Florida to look at colleges when he decided to take a hike in John Chestnut Park near Tampa, Florida. During the hike he noticed a friendly squirrel seated on a handrail.

Genest approached the squirrel and took out his camera to snap a picture with it. The camera’s flash and noise scared the little squirrel and it attacked Genest. It jumped in his shirt and ran up and down his back before jumping to the ground a scurrying away.

“He was just in that spot where my arm can’t reach him,” Genest said. “I threw myself on the ground, and that scared him off.”

Genest’s mother was nearby to help shoo the squirrel away, but made sure she snapped a few photos of her own as the angry squirrel attacked her son.

Genest was able to get so close to the squirrel by making clicking noises with his mouth. The interested squirrel was willing to let him come a little closer but was not willing to cooperate for a photo shoot.

Genest’s mother said that she hoped the squirrel attack would be a lesson to Genest.

“I think he got a little lesson from the squirrel that he’s not really its buddy,” she said.

She also said that neither Genest nor the squirrel were harmed, but both were shaken up by the other’s actions.

What do you think of the squirrel attack and the photos?

  • Squirrel Selfie Attack: A Cautionary Tale Of Nature

Look, here I am in front of the Washington Monument. Look, here’s me at the Yankee game. Hey, look at me at the Jersey Shore drinking a Margarita. It’s just become a fact that people are no longer interested in simply taking a picture of a national monument, a baseball cathedral or the ocean. Now, we insist on putting ourselves into every picture, suddenly the photographer is the center of attention.

We can thank our picture narcissism on the whole selfie-rage. Selfie recently beat out Twerk for Oxford word of the year. Taking selfies has become so commonplace that our President is even doing it…at Nelson Mandela’s funeral.

But here’s the thing, animals have yet to get on board with the whole selfie-craze. So when a young man from Maine named Brian Genest was visiting Florida, he went on a walk with his family. During the walk, Genest spotted a squirrel and decided to take a selfie with the creature. Due to the flash or perhaps the sound of the man’s camera, the squirrel panicked and jumped onto Genest’s back.

Genest was not able to pull the rodent off his back. He did drop to the ground, and the squirrel detached itself and ran off into the woods. Neither boy nor squirrel was harmed in the incident. He later said of the atttack, “Right after that I was just flailing around like crazy. He was under my shirt and I could feel his claws, it was a little freaky.”

That’s not the best part of the story, however. His hero mom took a picture of the insane squirrel attack and put the pics online. Since that time, the story and the pictures have gone viral. They are trending on practically every search engine on the web making Genest’s squirrel selfie attack a hilarious cautionary tale.

As you can imagine, the Twitter world has had a field day with the attack.

    Lesson learned? Doubt it.

  • Squirrels Hate Your Selfies, Bro

Now that ‘Selfie’ is the reigning word of the year and everyone from Kim Kardashian to President Obama are spending at least part of their week taking them, it appears, as a culture, we’ve pretty much accepted their inevitability.

I mean humans have accepted selfies. I said nothing about the animal kingdom.

If you lean in to take a selfie with a wild animal, no matter how cute it may be, don’t be too shocked when it absolutely hates your idea and decides to attack.

    A tale of two photos:

That’s Brian Genest of Auburn, Maine. He snapped a pretty cool squirrel selfie and was promptly attacked. His mom took the latter shot.

Don’t worry about either man nor beast. Both were unharmed.

Genest is also aware that this series of events is much more funny than it is embarrassing, as he’s made the first photo his profile pic and the second one his cover photo on Facebook. Good on you, Brian.

  • Selfie In Front Of A Train? That’s A Paddlin’

It was a delightful afternoon, Michael thought.

Taking selfies with equipment he bought.

So he stood by a train,

    which caused him some pain.

“My face did the boot it did caught.”

Enter Doofus McGee, AKA Jared Michael. In the YouTube video you see above, in the description box, Michael typed: “I tried to take a selfie while a train passed a “safe” distance behind. I guess I was still too close and got kicked in the head”

The video is 10 seconds long, currently stands at 1,956,410 views, and has the whole internet laughing and pointing at poor Mr. Michael; he was only trying to capture some footage of his best Jaden Smith impression and Bieber haircut. What could go wrong? A conductor yelling “Hey!” and the realization that he needs to explain to the potential viewer (he uploaded the video, after all) “Wow, that guy kicked me in the head! I think I got that on film.”

You did get that on film, and the conductor certainly kicked you in the head. Welcome to the new age, the new age, welcome to the new age, the new age.

A young brooding Michael awaits his destiny for instant internet fame.

A flirtatious foot via dirty conductor caresses the gentle smooth cheek of pure child innocence.

Michael’s face is warped, yet, it appears he hasn’t registered being kicked in the face.

Showing his true form, Michael turns into Beavis.

The Bieber hair cut dances as the body collapses.

Almost as if it’s self aware, Michael’s hair branches out in an attempt to attack the conductor, but fails.

Michael is down for the count, what shame this could bring if anyone knew.

Michael ponders the cruelty of the world… only to go home later and upload the footage.

Multiple YouTube users have offered their perspective on the whole deal.

User John Doe suggested in order to purge the “selfie generation”, we need another world war:

SupaFlyFatGuy859, with a ton of validating virtual thumbs up (26, to be exact), suggested an award for the young man:

The conductor’s kick, according to tvwears, saved the boy’s life:

It almost seems like a movie or gimmicky viral marketing because you think, by itself, “How can people really be this stupid?” only to be disappointed when God whispers into your ear at night, saying: “Youth.”

    I think he’s a good kid.

  • Kim Zolciak Reveals Post-Baby Belly on Instagram

Who could forget how massive 35-year-old Kim Zolciak looked while pregnant with twins Kaia and Kane?

Taking a quick trip back down memory lane reminds us when Zolciak posted a snapshot of her 9-month pregnant belly on Instagram in November:

“Sooooo with all the request I finally decided to post My baby bump today. The twins will here this month and we are soooo excited and I’m soooo over being pregnant! #countingdownthedays.”

And, I’m sure all the Zolciak ‘stans’ were so over waiting on the twins to make their grand appearance.

Now, four months following the birth of the twins, Zolciak is showing off the flatter side of her.

The reality TV star went to Instagram Tuesday to show off what appears to be a lean tummy.

Zolciak is shown in an all black fit, lifting up her shirt as she poses to the side.

The photo’s caption reads: “I think I see an ab!!!! hey after 6 kids I’ll take it!!”

We couldn’t agree more, but the selfie would have appeared to be a little bit more legit if the mommy-of-six would have posed straightforward with her shirt raised slightly higher.

But, I think this one is a pretty good start.

Zolciak, who married NFL player Kroy Biermann in 2011, was already the mother to daughters Ariana, 12, and 16-year-old Brielle from a previous relationship.

The pair is also parents to two-year-old son KJ and 19-month-old son Kash.

They welcomed their twins into the world on November 23, which the former-RHOA star recalls being a not so easy pregnancy.

Zolciak has reportedly become the new brand ambassador for weight-loss supplement Xenadrine.

Maybe that explains her most recent tummy selfie.

With that said, I’m sure in the near future we’ll be seeing a lot more progress ‘pics’ and workout snapshots from the “Tardy For The Party” singer.

  • IRS Selfies on Instagram Help Man Avoid Audit

Time Magazine reports that a Pennsylvania architect is using social media tech to stay a step ahead of the tax man. Andrew Jarvis probably never thought that his Instagram selfies would land him in the news, but his idea was a brilliant one, and we hope he gets plenty of recognition for his business as a result.

You see, Jarvis lives in Pennsylvania. But he opened up an architecture office in New York. According to tax laws, of Jarvis spends half or more of his time in New York, he has to pay taxes as a New York resident. But Jarvis maintains that he lives more than half of the time back in Philadelphia.

The problem? How to prove that. Jarvis was concerned that, in the event of an audit, the tax man would rule against him.

Jarvis hit on the idea of taking a selfie every day he was in Philadelphia in front of his home. Some days he was holding a snow shovel. Others a copy that day’s Philadelphia Enquirer. Every time he did it, the pic was time stamped.

Sometimes he took pics in other locations too, just to cover his tail in other ways.

“I hate to admit this but I sometimes take pictures of myself pumping gas [to prove I’m the one using the credit card at that location],” Jarvis said. “I would have liked to have smiled in a few of the pictures had I known people were going to be looking at them.”

Then his daughter, Anne, considerably more tech savvy than Dad, saw the series of photos going back months on his camera. She got a kick out of them and asked to post them to Instagram. Jarvis did not know what Instagram was.

But soon Internal Revenue Selfies was born.

“No one was ever meant to see these, these were for his future imaginary conversation he might have hypothetically with the IRS,” Anne said. “And seeing that no one was supposed to see them made me want to show the world. What’s so funny is how deadpan he is. He has such an earnest nature. I know where all of this is coming from is he’s just through and through an honest stand-up guy and this is a manifestation of that.”

  • Brittany Schussler in Hot Water for Selfie With Vladimir Putin

Canada’s Brittany Schussler hasn’t won an Olympic medal yet, but if medals were given out for worst selfie, the speed skater would definitely win gold. Schussler found herself in hot water after posting a selfie with Russian president Vladimir Putin to her Twitter page. Putin has been the center of much controversy after defending his country’s new anti-gay law. The 28-year-old speed skater has since deleted the picture from Twitter and said that she never intended to offend anyone with the selfie.

Schussler took the photo with Putin while the Russian president visited Canada House in Olympic Park on Friday. The skater uploaded the photo to Twitter with the caption, “I should have asked him to be my valentine!” The photo immediately received a lot of backlash, with many people criticizing Schussler for seemingly aligning herself with the anti-gay proponent.

Check out the offending photo below.

After receiving a lot of hateful messages, Schussler removed the photo and has since posted a couple of tweets saying she never meant to offend anyone with the photo.

While many people have blasted Schussler for posting the photo with Putin, a few have come to her defense. Elvis Stojko, a Canadian figure skater and two-time Olympic silver medalist, told the Winnipeg Free Press that he didn’t believe people were right to rake Schussler over the coals for the photo.

“It’s up to the discretion of the individual athlete to decide how they want to go about it. In this particular situation, just because you pose with someone doesn’t mean you agree with what they’re doing. He was invited into Canada House and he was there to invite us into his country,” Stojko said.

“Out of respect for him, and he runs the country, they’re being respectful to him. They’re following etiquette,” Stojko continued. “There’s a forum to speak your mind on certain issues. They can speak their mind, but this isn’t really the place for it. This is about the Olympics and bringing everyone together and promoting harmony and peace. That’s the whole point. The opening ceremonies were all about harmony and peace. We want to try and show the positives. The biggest thing, you can’t fix hate with hate.”

Do you think Brittany Schussler is deserving of all the backlash she is receiving for her selfie with Putin? Add your comments below.

  • Bethenny Frankel Shares A Selfie Wearing No Make-Up

Bethenny Frankel is following in Kelly Ripa’s footsteps!

Even though Ripa, who co-hosted Live! With Kelly and Michael wearing no make-up last Thursday, explained that her bare look was due to losing a Super Bowl bet, she may have actually started a new trend.

Now, Frankel has jumped on the bandwagon as well, reports US Weekly. Although she didn’t lose any bets, she did take advantage of an impromptu ‘photo-op’ without wearing any make-up.

On Monday, Feb. 10, the Real Housewives of New York City alum took to Twitter and gave fans a glimpse of what her “Monday face” looks like. She posted a quick selfie for her 1.34 million followers.

“This is my ‘it’s Monday’ face, which looks very similar to my ‘I’m exhausted and it’s only Monday’ face,” she quipped.

However, her exhaustion is definitely justified. Bethenny has been quite busy with Bethenny! As a matter of fact, the 100th episode of the talk show host just aired yesterday.

The big milestone was commemorated with a stellar list of celebrity guests that included Today’s Hoda Kotb, The Real talk show co-hosts Tamar Braxton and Loni Love, Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Kathy Wakile and Dancing With the Stars’ Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

    (image)

One of the highlights of the episode was the comedic banter between Frankel and Love. The two “talked dirty” before airing the show’s highlight reel.

“Sometimes, Bethenny, you can churn this show into Bethenny After Dark,” Love said to Frankel. “Because I talk dirty?” Frankel asked. “You talk a lot of dirt. Let me just show you,” Love quipped.

After the two watched the potty-mouthed reel, Frankel said, “It’s amazing I got to 100.”

“I want you to get to another 100, so I’m gonna help you out,” Love said. “I got a swear jar for you.” However, Frankel actually felt she’d improved since her reality TV days, but to no avail!

“What I used to do on Bravo was next level,” she said. “This was toning it down!”

  • A ‘Selfie’ TV Show Is on the Way Because #YOLOSWAG

Are you a person who thinks that weekday nights are sorely lacking in bathroom mirror shots? If so, ABC may just have the perfect pilot for you.

The network has ordered a pilot for a new series simply titled “Selfie.” The new comedy comes from writer Emily Kapnek, who is best-known for her work on ABC’s Suburgatory, now in its third season.

Here’s the show’s synopsis, via Entertainment Weekly:

Comedy inspired by My Fair Lady tells the story of a self-obsessed 20-something woman who is more concerned with ‘likes’ than being liked. After suffering a very public and humiliating breakup, she becomes the subject of a viral video and suddenly has more social media ‘followers’ than she ever imagined – but for all the wrong reasons. She enlists the help of a marketing expert at her company to help repair her tarnished image.

Ok, well, “Selfie” is the reigning word of the year – at least according to Oxford. Described as “a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website,” Selfie beat out Twerk, Bitcoin, and Derp to win the title of 2013’s top new word.

It’s hard to judge a new TV show before it even airs, so I won’t. I will say that a quick Twitter or Instagram search for #selfie reveals that, if nothing else, people are still snapping photos of themselves with great fervor.

  • Kendall Jenner: Wearing Kim Kardashian’s Shoes?

Is Kendall Jenner wearing big sister Kim Kardashian’s shoes? And if so, is that necessarily a good thing? Kim’s selfie at the gym. Kim is known for sharing selfies–especially those of her hind quarters–on social media sites. She recently posted one, telling fans that despite what some media sources were reporting, she hadn’t had any surgery to get back down to her pre-pregnancy shape.

Of course none of that is all too unusual these days. Everyone wants to be in shape and unfortunately it’s become very popular to chronicle the process via photos on social media sites. Kim Kardashian is known for obsessing over her body, however, so that’s where concern about Kendall Jenner lies. Is she becoming as concerned about her body as her big sister is? In the world of fashion models–a world Kendall Jenner is fast becoming a part of–image is everything. But anyone who reads or watches the news knows how serious the downside of that world can be if obsessing over weight and body shape becomes–well, too obsessive.

Hopefully Kendall is keeping her selfies of her and her sister’s butt on the light side–doing so only for fun and laughs. Her Facebook post didn’t necessarily lend itself to a cause for concern.

On Instagram Kendall Jenner captioned the same photo she posted on Facebook, saying, “Barging in on Kim’s booty selfie.” The humorous aspect of that likely means she isn’t obsessing about her own. Keeping Up With the Kardashians matriarch Kris Jenner and patriarch Bruce Jenner are hopefully keeping a close watch over Kendall, just in case her selfies become obsessive. Wouldn’t it be nice to see her go through life spending less time in the mirror than Kim Kardashian spends?

  • Maria Sharapova Blows Off Waiter’s ‘Selfie’ Request

Maria Sharapova may be pretty, but her nerves may be getting the better of her.

In Australia for next week’s Australian Open, the world’s number three tennis pro coldly rebuffed a waiter’s request to take a selfie with him at a Melbourne cafe.

Four-time grand slam winner Sharapova admits she is not a patient person and is likely just nervous before the season’s first grand slam. She has struggled with her right shoulder and has been resting it for the past four months.

She told reporters that this flair up has not been as difficult as in 2008 when her shoulder injury required surgery, but that her patience has been tested none-the-less.

“It was not as hard (to cope with) as the one I had a few years back,” she said. “That was pretty tough, considering I had surgery. This is far from being that serious. This was a matter of time, which in tennis it’s not great when you come to a doctor’s office and they say, ‘time, time, just wait, wait’.

“We don’t have much patience because we always have a schedule set, tournaments to play. That’s tough to accept because you don’t quite know when the inflammation is going to go down, when you’re going to be able to play overhead shots, things like that.”

The 26-year-old Russian beauty has realistic expectations for this year’s open.

“You obviously have to lower your expectations a little bit and be a bit realistic about maybe the first few matches,” she said.

“You have to grind, work through them, hope to get better as the tournament goes on.”

  • Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian Offer Up Yet Another Selfie

Kendall Jenner loves selfies too! While its usually Kim Kardashians that’s known for her famous ‘selfies,’ it appears she has a new sidekick.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has shared yet another butt selfie, but this time it’s double trouble, since her younger sister Kendall has joined in on the fun.

On Friday, Jan. 10, a new picture was added to Kendall’s Instagram account. The two decided on a morning workout, and opted to share a picture.

The ladies flaunted their toned bodies, wearing black Nike workout gear, but you actually couldn’t see much out the cloths. Their butts were the dominant focus of the picture.

Its obvious that the picture was probably suppose to be just another quick capture for the “Kim Kardashian Selfie Collection,” but Kendall decided to drop in and photobomb the picture. The caption for the picture read, “barging in on Kim’s booty selfie.”

    (image)

The new picture comes just one week after Kim’s last selfie with her friend, Blac Chyna. But, they took things a step further with not just one picture, but three. So, its probably safe to declare that 2014 will probably be the ‘Year of the Selfies,’ because it doesn’t look as if Kim has any plans to stop posting!

While some may look at it as an annoyance, the 33-year-old reality TV starlet actually explained her reasoning behind sharing her weight loss story.

Since she and her fiancé rapper Kanye West welcomed their daughter North last summer, she’s been under constant scrutiny due to her weight gain. So, in an effort to silence the media, she shares ‘selfies’ flaunting her post-baby body.

However, her weight loss success has been questioned as well. Some media outlets have reported that she’s had plastic surgery, and that her ‘selfies’ are photo-shopped. So, she took to Twitter to address the rumors.

She tweeted, “It sucks when people make up surgery or photoshop lies when I am so disciplined & work so hard! Just trying to motivate others & show anyone struggling with weight they can totally achieve whatever they want if they are dedicated!”

  • Kim Kardashian Accused Of Photoshopping Her Assets

Kim Kardashian may be a reality star, but over the years a good deal of her fame has come from her curves. Her famous backside is one of the most talked about in Hollywood, but now it’s not just because of the way it looks; now, she’s being accused of using Photoshop to manipulate a selfie she recently posted on Instagram.

The new mom took a photo of herself with Blac Chyna after a workout, showing off her toned stomach and butt, and the photo quickly went viral. Now, a “Photoshop expert” tells Page Six that it’s clear she used a tool to enhance her shape.

“You can definitely see a gap at the same level as Kim’s chest. This would be caused by using a tool to expand her breasts. There also seems to be a more subtle distortion on the floor,” Peeje T said. “You might notice how it follows the same contortion as Kim’s waist and hips.”

The source also said it looked like she’d manipulated her waistline in the photo, adding that she should stick to natural photos and be proud of her curves. A rep for the reality star says it’s not true at all.

“This story is false. She did not retouch the selfie,” the rep said.

This isn’t the first time Kim has been accused of putting out a photo that doesn’t quite tell the truth; last month the New York Post claimed she’d had the famous post-baby bikini photos that she sold to Us Weekly retouched and airbrushed to make her body look even better.

  • Kim Kardashian Gives Valet $100 Bill

Kim Kardashian Gives Valet $100 Bill

Reality star Kim Kardashian is taking time in between her sexy, selfie posts to treat herself to yet another one of her favorite pastimes. The sex-symbol hit the streets of Beverly Hills today for a little shopping spree with pal and philanthropist Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen.

The 33-year-old mommy looked absolutely stunning in a fitted, pencil skirt with a tight, white cleavage-baring top. She paired the beautiful outfit with a classic cream coat and pale pink heels. The star looked toned as ever after giving birth to her first child, North who was born in June.

But according to her Instagram, the star was doing a little more than shopping and looking absolutely fabulous today.

What could the two be up to? Nothing has been officially released, but we do know that the now blonde-bombshell has been feeling extra generous these days. After getting her car back from the valet, she rolled her window down and gave the female attendant a $100 bill.

  • Kim Kardashian Posts Yet Another Selfie, This Time It’s All About Cleavage

Last year, Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star Kim Kardashian made big headlines with her ever-popular selfie. Now, she’s at it again, starting the new year off with yet another one! However, this time it’s a post-workout shot, and it’s the cleavage that catches the eye.

According to E! News, the 33-year-old reality TV star hit the gym Friday for another post-baby workout. Kardashian sported a black sheer athletic top with matching black leggings.

However, she wasn’t alone, as her friend Blac Chyna hit the weights with her. For those that have no clue who Blac Chyna is, she’s the video model who gave birth to rapper Tyga’s son King in 2012.

So, it’s probably safe to say it was a post-baby workout for the both of them – and it’s quite evident that the hard work has definitely paid off.

Kardashian has been under constant scrutiny about her weight since giving birth to her daughter North West, in June 2013.  Lately she’s had no qualms about snapping pictures of her jaw-dropping figure, which always give the media and fans something to talk about.

Once again, she’s decided to show the world her progress.  However, they didn’t leave much to the imagination. Kardashian took to Instagram to share her post-workout shots with fans.

She and Chyna posted in front of the mirror, snapping two hot pictures. The first picture was a body shot, all about the cleavage, and her toned abs. The picture’s caption read, “Getting right for the new year.”

But, they didn’t stop with just one picture. It wouldn’t be ‘Kim Kardashian’ style if she didn’t include a back shot. However, this time it was double-trouble because she and Chyna took the picture together. The second picture captured a full backside view of the two.

Both pictures immediately grabbed the attention of fans, garnering almost a million likes collectively. Kardashian has accredited the popular Atkins diet for her weight loss success. She’s noted several times that the low-carbohydrate diet ‘helped her get her body back’.

However, she’s not done yet. Kardashian also told E! News that she has ’10 more pounds she’d like to lose’ to reach her goal weight. There’s no doubt she’ll make that happen.

  • Nokia Lumia 1020 Gets RAW Photo Support

Nokia Lumia 1020 Gets RAW Photo Support

The 41-megapixel Nokia Lumia 1020 recently received the Lumia Black software update, which allows for shooting pictures in the relatively compression- and processing-free RAW Digital Negative Format (DNG), as well as other small functionality modifications.

Aside from the RAW upgrade to compliment the 1020’s PureView camera sensor sitting behind a Zeiss lens, Nokia users can now lock the screen rotation, close apps more easily in the app switcher and use custom ringtones for messaging and mail. Users can also update to Nokia Camera, which combines Nokia Smart Camera and Nokia Pro Camera, as well as obtain the latest version of Nokia Glance Screen, which allows for quick status notifications regarding calendar and messaging events on the lock screen.

One can take the ultimate duck-faced selfies with the Lumia 1020:

Other Lumia Black enhancements include a Bluetooth 4.0 LE upgrade, which preserves battery life while staying connected via Bluetooth, as well as improved battery monitoring and other stability and usability modifications.

Videography enthusiasts might appreciate the Lumia 1020’s manual focus, shutter speed, ISO and white balance adjustment capabilities:

Nokia, an official Windows Phone partner has also revealed that DNG support is coming for more Lumia devices, as the Lumia Black update rolls out.

Here’s a clip of National Geographic photographer Stephen Alvarez, as he takes the Lumia 1020 for a test run in the Grand Canyon:

Alvarez states, “I’ve used a lot of smartphones, but the Nokia Lumia 1020 is extraordinary. There’s never been anything like it. Until now, I could only get images like this using a professional DSLR camera.”

  • Two Teenage Girls Take Selfies Before Robbery

When you’re a teenager influenced by a hubris culture, taking a picture of yourself (a “selfie” as they say) and your friend wearing ski masks and clenching knives is the only way to show how cool you are, even if it’s used against you in a court of law.

Such is the case with a 17-year-old girl and her accomplice. According to reports in the Swedish edition of news website The Local, before they robbed a Max hamburger restaurant in Halmstad, southern Sweden in March of this year, they took pictures of themselves with their smart phone. In one of the pictures, the two girls wear hoodies and balaclavas; one girl holds her phone with one hand – in the other, she clenches and holds up a 30cm (11.8 inches) kitchen knife.

According to The Local, the two girls wound up stealing 2,420 krona ($368) from the diner. A court heard witnesses say that the girl held up the restaurant staff, brandishing the knife and yelling: “Give me the money, or I’ll stab you!”

Around 47 minutes after the crime, police with sniffer dogs tracked down the two girls. The first piece of evidence they police uncovered was a bag filled with money, the second was the phone that contained the incriminating photos. Police were able to trace the dastardly duo back at one of the girls’ grandmother’s home.

Last Friday, the eldest girl who was found at the grandma’s house was convicted and sent to juvenile detention. During the mitigation, the court uncovered that the girl had a difficult childhood and had been thrown out from her family home. Her sentence would have been harsher had she been 18; the girl will receive treatment from a youth psychiatrist.

The other girl, despite overwhelming evidence, was not convicted due to a lack thereof. She had told police that the pictures taken in the mirror were nothing more than a mere joke.

The Local also reported that among the evidence was the phone that contained numerous selfies, a picture of the money, and a quote by US poet Ralph Waldo Emerson, which read: “Commit a crime and the world is made of glass”.

  • Obama is Criticized for Taking a Selfie at Mandela’s Memorial Service

Obama is Criticized for Taking a Selfie at Mandela’s Memorial Service

After our story on people taking selfies at funerals and other inappropriate places, it probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise that someone took a selfie at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service. The person caught taking the selfie, on the other hand, will probably catch you off guard. None other than President Barack Obama was caught snapping a selfie of himself with two prime ministers today.

Former South African president Nelson Mandela’s memorial service was held today in Johannesburg. Obama was just one of many national leaders in attendance. The president was also a speaker at the service and delivered a moving speech that reportedly received a standing ovation.

“With honesty, regardless of our station or our circumstance, we must ask: How well have I applied [Nelson Mandela’s] lessons in my own life?” Obama said. “It is a question I ask myself, as a man and as a president. We know that like South Africa, the United States had to overcome centuries of racial subjugation. As was true here, it took sacrifice–the sacrifices of countless people, known and unknown–to see the dawn of a new day.”

While many people enjoyed the speech, at some point someone snapped a picture of the president taking a selfie of himself with British Prime Minister David Cameron and Denmark Prime Minister Helle Thorning. As you can see, First Lady Michelle Obama is present and is not participating:

The selfie craze, which many consider to be a form of narcissism, has become so popular that the word “selfie” even earned a place in the Oxford Dictionaries Online and was named Word of the Year. Now that the president was caught taking a selfie, at a memorial service no less, it’s not likely this craze will die down anytime soon.

After the selfie was posted to Twitter, it took no time for folks to start criticizing the president. Did you find the picture inappropriate as well or are people making a big deal over nothing? Add your comments below.

  • A Darth Vader Selfie is Used to Launch the Star Wars Instagram Account

It’s official–Star Wars has joined Instagram in what is likely a maneuver to promote the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII. And, as if a Star Wars account on Instagram isn’t cool enough, the first photo posted was a Darth Vader selfie. That’s right, a Darth Vader selfie, a word combination you probably never expected to hear.

It looks like the Star Wars account popped up on Instagram yesterday. So far, five pictures have been posted and the account has more than 120,000 followers with a combined 80,000 likes on the photos.

Without further ado, check out the first Star Wars post on Instagram below:

This selfie makes you ponder on some pretty important things, such as how different the original trilogy would have been had social media been around. If the stormtroopers used Instagram accounts to post selfies, can you imagine the amount of force chokes that would have happened?

After the Darth Vader selfie started getting around, a lot of folks on Twitter had some funny comments regarding the photo. The best post pointed out the fact that Darth Vader uses what looks like an iPhone and not a Droid to take the photo. Another person complained that Darth Vader didn’t use the force to hold up the phone. But, hey, at least there wasn’t a toilet in the background of this selfie.

Going back to the Instagram account, a few other cool photos have been uploaded so far. You’ve gotta love the Darth Vader-Luke Skywalker battle photo. Another photo worth mentioning is one that was taken at a comic convention of a bunch of women dressed as Princess Leia.

Star Wars Episode VII will hit theaters December 18, 2015 (assuming things don’t change up again). In the meantime, Lucasfilm and Disney announced that Star Wars Rebels will air on Disney XD next fall. The animated series is said to take place between Star Wars Episode III and Star Wars Episode IV.
