  • Downton Abbey Ends After 6 Seasons, Christmas Day Finale Tops UK Ratings

British drama series Downton Abbey has ended after six seasons, with its finale airing in the UK on Christmas Day.

The TV series topped the UK ratings on Christmas Day, which is the first time the show achieved the feat.

In the swan song episode, Lady Edith and Bertie Pelham have a happy ending, Lady Mary found out she was having a child, and Anna and Mr. Bates welcome their newborn.

The Downton Abbey Finale Hits US Audiences Soon

There have been reports stating that the series ended due to the fact that the Downton Abbey bosses failed to secure Dame Maggie Smith for the seventh season.

Gareth Neame, the show’s producer, said that Smith, who plays the Dowager Countess Lady Violet Crawley, did not confirm her appearance for another season.

“We easily could have gone for a 7th season, but if I’d have said “We haven’t got Maggie” it would have been a shadow of itself,” Neame added.

Nevertheless, the award-winning producer said that they still feel blessed. The management and the cast do not regret the ending because they were still ahead when they ended the show.

“We had the ambition that we had a complete show,” he said.

In the final scene filmed at the Ritz Hotel in London, Neame even found a way to “insert himself”, where he came in dressed like one of the Ritz’s staff.

While Downton Abbey officially ended last week on Christmas Day, there may be possibilities of a cinematic spin-off of the story.

“There is no script and no firm plan but it’s certainly something there is talk of. We’re not in denial about anything. We’ll know more next year,” Neame said.

There were reports that Neame and writer Julian Fellowes “are keen” to make the project happen.

Meanwhile, other top performers along with Downton Abbey on Christmas Day include the Strictly Christmas Special, Queen, Mrs. Brown’s Boys, and Doctor Who.

  • ‘The Blacklist’ Season Finale: Did It Live Up to the Hype?

The Blacklist season finale aired on Monday night with a dead FBI agent, the noted identity of a man who calls himself Berlin, and an even stronger feeling that Agent Elizabeth Keen (played by Megan Boone) is Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington’s (James Spader) daughter–even though he tells her that her father is dead. The season ended with the show being the most watched new series in prime time–not a bad way to go out, and a positive note to offset the blood bath the ensued during the finale.

Meera, played by Parminder Nagra, was killed shortly after the finale began. Her throat was slit in a night club and Lizzie Keen arrived too late to save her. Director Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) was the next to fall–being strangled in his car. His name, too, is scratched off Berlin’s list of targets, but he lingers in a hospital on life support.

Tom Keen, played by Ryan Eggold, was also a casualty on The Blacklist season finale. Shot by Red, he didn’t go down without a fight–and not without whispering in Lizzie’s ear that her father is alive.

Megan Boone talked with Jimmy Fallon prior to the airing of The Blacklist season finale, and each did their best not to spoil the outcome.

Later in the show Lizzie confronts Red about killing her ‘father’ Sam–the man who took her in and raised her as his own when her own father was killed in a fire from which she was saved. Sam was in a hospital dying when Red snuffed him out. He told Lizzie it was an act of compassion–that her father was ill and wanted to die, and that he loved her father as his dear friend.

Shortly before Monday night’s finale ends, Lizzie and Red chat once again–this time about what Tom Keen told her before he died. Red assures her that her father died in that fire. A moment later, however, as Reddington tends to a bullet wound, it is plain to see that his body is horrifically scarred–by what one can only assume are burns.

Do you think The Blacklist season finale lived up to the hype created in the weeks before its airing? The Blacklist returns in the fall, and then in 2015 gets that coveted post-Super Bowl slot.

Will you be tuning in to see the saga continue?

  • ‘Walking Dead’: Andrew Lincoln Thinks Season Finale May Have Gone Too Far [Spoiler]

The season 4 finale of The Walking Dead has just aired and several questions on viewers’ minds were answered. The finale episode was full of gore, as expected. Aside from having some issues resolved, the finale also raised more questions that will keep fans hanging at the edge of their seats.

Last week’s episode was emotionally packed, as Carol had to kill Lizzie, and then admitted to killing the girlfriend of Tyreese, which happened in the earlier part of the fourth season.

In an interview with Yahoo TV, Andrew Lincoln, who plays the shows protagonist, Rick Grimes, said that the writers for the show might have gone too far on the finale. “You will see a side of Rick that you haven’t seen before or in a place that he goes to that he’s never been before,” he said.

The finale showed Michonne, Carl, and Rick as they continue their travel to Terminus, but Joe’s group captures them. Daryl, who soon realizes who Joe is, tries his hand at helping Rick to no avail. One of the men in Joe’s group then attempts to rape Carl, causing Rick to get mad and bite Joe on his neck, which allows Michonne and Rick to kill off the rest of Joe’s men.

The next day, Rick is still in shock of the events that happened and Daryl says his apologies for following Joe. Rick accepts Daryl’s apology. The group then continues toward Terminus. Carl also confides in Michonne and tells him that he still has thoughts about murder.

Finally, Rick’s group finds their way to Terminus, a shipment-type structure with three levels that are surrounded by flowers and a fence, where they are warmly greeted. However, Rick soon notices that the people in Terminus have items that only his group could have. They attempt to escape, but are not successful, and the Terminus citizens lock them up in a rail car. With that, Rick’s group is then reunited with Maggie and Glenn’s group. Rick then says that the Terminus citizens are “screwing with the wrong people.

The rumors of someone trying to sexually assault Carl came true, and Rick biting Joe on the neck is a real shocker. Did the season finale really go too far? You decide. Meanwhile, fans will just have to wait for what’s to come in the season 5 premiere of The Walking Dead, which will air in October.

  • Dario Franchitti Replaced by Alex Tagliani in Finale

Scottish IndyCar Series driver Dario Franchitti has had quite a week. In an abrupt turn of events, Franchitti went from the race track at Houston’s Reliant Park to Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center. Now, he’s being replaced by Alex Tagliani in the upcoming IndyCar season finale.

Target Chip Ganassi announced on Wednesday that veteran IndyCar driver, Alex Tagliani would replace Franchitti in the season finale at Fontana, USA Today reported.

Tagliani released an official statement in wake of the recent changes to the season finale line-up. “As a driver you never want an opportunity like this to come under these circumstances, but I’m up for the challenge and looking forward to working with my friend Scott and the whole Target team,” said Tagliani.

Tagliani also sent well wishes to Franchitti and posted a picture of him on Twitter as he was discharged from the hospital. The tweet made a light-hearted reference to Franchitti’s injury and his dogs that were photographed with him.

For those who aren’t aware of how the turn of events took place, here’s the gist: On Sunday, Franchitti was involved in a serious auto crash that occurred during the IndyCar series at Reliant Park in Houston, TX. During the race, the left side of Franchitti’s car made contact with Takuma Sato’s.

The impact sent the front end of Franchitti’s car airborne, crashing into the catch-fence. Debris from the fence and Franchitti’s car flew into one of the grandstands, hitting several fans and spectators. A total of 14 people, which was comprised of 13 fans and an IndyCar official, were hurt as a result of the accident.

The four-time IndyCar champion and three-time Indianapolis 500 winner, was placed on a stretched and taken by ambulance to the Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center. It was later revealed that Franchitti suffered two spinal fracture, a broken ankle, and a concussion.

However, Franchitti has maintained high spirits. Franchitti took time to issue a short statement via Twitter. He shared his concern for the injured spectators and thanked the fans for their support.

  • Mad Men: Latest Episode Has Fans Flocking To Twitter

Mad Men is almost at the end of its penultimate season. There’s only one episode left and fans are wondering what will happen.

In the past season, fans have been subjected to a number of major events that have left little to the imagination. We now know (spoilers ahead) that Bob Benson is gay (and might be a spy), Megan Draper is not dead, and that she won’t be dying anytime soon. So, what’s left for the finale? The thing is – nobody really knows.

The New York Times’ recently spoke about the new episode and said there’s “not one big plot point left to be resolved.” The Times’ Logan Hill does expect something surprising from the finale though. He says that he expects the engagement between Don and Megan in the season four finale will become undone in the season six finale.

Hill’s prediction may not happen, but the season finale will have to set up the seventh and final season of Mad Men. It has to be something that will make viewers want to tune in when the seventh season starts without revealing all the mysteries that will undoubtedly be revealed in season seven.

Fans took to Twitter to talk about Sunday’s episode and what they expect to see next Sunday:

Ever since FOX’s reality dance show So You Think You Can Dance season 9’s top 20 dancers were announced, we all knew that it was going to be an amazing season, and it surely was.

Last night (Tuesday, September 18th, 2012), So You Think You Can Dance‘s season 9 finale aired with an outstanding show of group routines, favorite performances from the season, and the cliffhanging results. Starting off the night was a group routine containing all of the top 20 dancers, along with all stars from various seasons of the show. The group routine “Torn” (shown below) was hailed as one of the best group routines that the show has ever produced.

To help give commentary during the finale show, the judges panel was filled with six dance celebrities: Nigel Lithgoe (Executive Producer), Mary Murphy (Ballroom Dance expert), Adam Shankman (Film Director/Producer), Tyce DiOrio (Broadway Choreographer), Debbie Allen (Dance Choreographer), and Lil C (Hip-hop/Crumping Choreographer). All of the judges requested various routines to be performed from the season, such as:

    • “Titanic” – performed by Audrey and Matthew
    • East Coast Hip Hop – performed by Whitney and Twitch
    • Paso Doble – performed by Lindsey and Cole
    • “Love Cats” – performed by Amelia and Will

This is the first time in So You Think You Can Dance history that both genders will be winners. The winners announced for season 9 were both from the ballet genre: Eliana Girard (from West Palm Beach, Florida) and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp (from Zurich, Switzerland).

What is your opinion of the results? Who do you think should have won? Let us know in the comments!

  • Glee Says Goodbye To Major Cast Members, Twitter Reacts

Last night (Tuesday, May 22nd) marked the season finale of Glee’s third season. With this finale, it presented a major milestone within the development of the major characters of the Glee show … graduation. Those who had graduated during the finale were major cast members who the show had revolved around so much within these past three seasons, showing their development from how they started to where they are now.

The list of characters that graduated during Glee’s season three finale have been listed below:

    • Rachel Berry (played by Lea Michelle)
    • Finn Hudson (played by Cory Monteith)
    • Quinn Fabray (played by Dianna Agron)
    • Mercedes John (played by Amber Riley)
    • Noah Puckerman (played by Mark Salling)
    • Santana Lopez (played by Naya Rivera)
    • Mike Chang (played by Harry Shum, Jr.)
    • Kurt Hummel (played by Chris Colfer)

As you can see, that is a big list of characters that will not be present in the upcoming seasons of Glee, and many of these characters were favorites by many. This will also give other characters of the show a chance to rise for favoritism as well.

One of the great and nostalgic scenes of the season finale (provided below) was when Kurt’s father on the show (Burt Hummel) reenacted the a viral scene from (I think) season one, where Kurt portrayed Beyonce performing “Single Ladies.” Long-time Glee watchers will remember the original scene.

The scene that received the most attention during the episode was Rachel Berry’s unexpected train ride to New York. This was a big event for her role, because she was one of the popular characters of the three seasons.

Even though Rachel’s character has left for New York, it looks like we will still be seeing more of her in seasons to come as mentioned in Lea Michelle’s tweet…

Such an amazing season finale of #Glee tonight. Hope everyone liked it. Can’t wait to start shooting season 4 in July! #gleeforever
