McPhee claims she was separated from Nick Cokas at the time of the cheating incident. She, in fact, filed for divorce from Cokas in May of 2014. She released the following statement at the time of the filing.

“After six years of marriage, and having been separated for the past year, Katharine McPhee has filed for a dissolution of marriage from Nick Cokas. The two have an amicable relationship and will remain friends. They ask that people respect their privacy during this time.”

TMZ reported that Cokas, 50, will keep the 2013 Jeep Wrangler while McPhee. 31, will get to keep 2012 Mercedes Benz M Class SUV. The former couple will also divide the singer’s income from her defunct NBC show Smash and will go 50-50 on profits from all the songs she made during their marriage. They will also split the money McPhee earned from the Scorpion’s pilot episode and her $700,000 contract with Columbia/Epic Records.

However, the singer-actress will maintain her full rights to earnings from her tours and live performances of her songs taking place after her divorce.

  • Katharine McPhee is Back With a Summer Anthem [Video]

Katharine McPhee is a bit of an anomaly. As an American Idol runner-up, she is in the minority due to having actually gone on to have a great career. Many Idol finalists are relegated to the dustbins of history.

Katharine McPhee, however, starred in a Spielberg-produced musical drama series on television, has appeared in numerous films, and is about to drop her fourth album in July. That’s a big deal for a runner-up.

The new album is called Hysteria, and Katharine McPhee says it’s going to be a lot different from what you’ve seen out of her before. She told Rolling Stone:

“[With earlier albums] I found it difficult to find inspiration of things I wanted to sing about. I think I was also shy; I wasn’t sure of myself as a writer. I really didn’t feel like I had that much to say, had that much to write about. So I think the overall theme [of this record] is that, yes, there’s been searching, there’s been heartbreak, there’s been longing, I think finally, for the first time, I felt motivated to find stories within my own life to write about.”

The first track off the album is called “Lick My Lips.” McPhee is already positioning the song as a summer hit.

“It’s probably my most summer-y, carefree song that I have on the album,” McPhee said. “It’s a fun thing for me to come out with because it’s really a representation of me.”

McPhee’s following on Twitter was all, well, a-twitter with news of the new release. They’ve taken to their feeds with the hashtag #LickMyLips.

    Including Katharine’s mom:

The new music brings to an end a five-year hiatus from music for the star. Her previous album, Unbroken, featured the hit single “Had It All.” She has spent most of her time on the screen in the years since her last album. Her latest is the hit CBS series Scorpion.

Here is McPhee’s latest hit. It must be summer.

  • Katharine McPhee Wishes ‘Scorpion’ Star Boyfriend Elyes Gabel a Happy Birthday

Katharine McPhee of American Idol and Smash fame wished her boyfriend, Elyes Gabel of Scorpion, a happy birthday on Friday.

The singer and actress even wore a gold nameplate necklace that reads ‘Elyes’ in a photo that she shared to express those birthday wishes.

“#HappyBirthday to this guy…@elyes_gabel. Give him some bday [love],” she captioned the photo.

Katharine McPhee was first spotted wearing her boyfriend’s name around her neck during a recent vacation in April–helping confirm rumors that she is in fact dating the Scorpion star.

A source recently confirmed to Us Weekly that Katharine McPhee and Elyes Gabel are very much in love.

McPhee has remained very good friends with her ex-husband Nick Cokas as well. The two had breakfast together recently as part of a breakfast meeting.

Katharine McPhee and Nick Cokas divorced following the release of a photo that showed her making out with Smash director Michael Morris. Morris was able to salvage his marriage following the ordeal.

It’s uncertain what Katharine McPhee and Elyes Gabel did to celebrate his birthday last week, or if the two were even able to spend the day together. It’s clear, however, that Katrharine McPhee has moved on and found new love, and that she is very happy with the Scorpion star.

  • CBS’ New Shows For Fall Include Plenty Of Drama And A Comedy

CBS’ new shows were revealed earlier this week and there’s a little something for everyone. The fall schedule does appear to be heavily geared towards drama fans, but comedy fans have stuff to look forward to as well.

First up is most likely the most anticipated new fall show from CBS – Madam Secretary. The new drama casts Tea Leoni into the role of a college professor that’s suddenly thrust into the role of the secretary of state after her predecessor dies. The series promises plenty of drama with a few bits of lightheartedness as Leoni brings her persona of a strict professor to Washington.

The series is being written and produced by Barbara Hall who most fans know as the creator of Joan of Arcadia. It’s being directed by David Semel, the man behind episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 7th Heaven and more. It’s described as The Good Wife meets 60 Minutes and Hall can most likely pull off such a combination.

Here’s a first look that lays out the entire plot of what may be the first few episodes:

Up next is Scorpion, a drama about a hacker and his band of misfits working for the government. Here’s the synopsis:

Inspired by a true story, Scorpion is a quirky, humor-filled adrenaline rush that follows an eccentric genius and his network of nerdy prodigies. They operate as a think tank formed by Homeland Security, and their task: to deal with the complex threats of the modern age. Solving the most mind-boggling national issues comes naturally to them, but these socially awkward misfits can’t seem to get out of their own way when it comes to life outside the laboratory.

The third new series this fall is a psychological thriller named Stalker. Here’s the synopsis:

Who better to track a stalker than someone who shares similar behavioral traits? That’s the premise behind this smart psychological thriller about detectives in the Los Angeles Police Department’s Threat Management Unit. They take on all forms of stalking cases, from voyeurism to cyber harassment, all while trying to keep their own obsessions at bay.

If all this is too much for you, you might find solace in CBS’ sole new comedy for the fall – The McCarthys.

Based on writer Brian Gallivan’s real life, this family comedy is about a loud, sports-crazed Boston clan. At the center is the youngest son, Ronny, who is gay and somewhat sports-challenged. Hoping to gain some independence from his overly involved family, Ronny decides to take a job in Rhode Island. But plans change when his father stuns everyone and asks Ronny, instead of his more qualified siblings, to be his assistant high school basketball coach.

Oh, you thought CBS wouldn’t have a new NCIS ready for the Fall season? Think again:

All the action, drama and humor of NCIS in a colorful new city that harbors a dark side. NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, a planted spin-off, features Scott Bakula as the head of a dedicated team of Navy investigators in the Big Easy. With its rich setting of music, drinking and debauchery, New Orleans is a magnet for military personnel on leave. And with fun comes trouble, which is when this team is at its best.

Unfortunately, all these new shows mean that others were cancelled to make space for them:

  • Textron Unveils Scorpion Fighter Jet

    Textron Unveils Scorpion Fighter Jet

In a joint effort between Textron and AirLand, a prototype of a new, low-cost light attack and ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) jet, called the Scorpion, is being developed. Textron Airland, which is comprised of Textron, builders of Cessna business planes, as well as E-Z Go golfcarts, and AirLand Enterprises, a new company formed by former defense and aerospace executives, unveiled the Scorpion Monday at a trade show in Maryland, and hope to market the new fighter to the U.S. Military.

Below is a neat Scorpion construction timelapse movie:

The U.S. Air Force mostly used A-10 Thunderbolt II, F-16 Fighting Falcon and F-15E Strike Eagle planes during wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, in uncontested airspace. Basically, it was never like Top Gun. These planes were designed during the Cold War, and eventually proved to be highly expensive to operate, and their capability for high speed and high-G maneuvers wasn’t even necessary. An F-16, which these days is mostly used to drop bombs and do recon, costs about $25,000 an hour to operate. The new Scorpion is said to cost about $3,000 an hour.

The Scorpion prototype is a tandem-seat twin engine jet, that can also be flown by a single pilot. Not only is it cheap to operate, but production costs have been kept low, as Textron was able to modify existing systems used in making Cessnas. Here are some stats:

    General characteristics

    Crew: 2
    Length: 43 ft 6 in (13.26 m)
    Wingspan: 47 ft 4 in (14.43 m)
Empty weight: 11,800 lb (5,352 kg)
    Performance

    Maximum speed: 517 mph (832 km/h; 449 kn)
Ferry range: 2,762 mi; 4,445 km (2,400 nmi)

Textron Airland’s website explains, “The aircraft’s design is well matched to the Air National Guard’s missions such as irregular warfare, border patrol, maritime surveillance, emergency relief, counter narcotics and air defense operations.” Textron Chairman and CEO Scott Donnelly adds, “we began development of the Scorpion in January 2012 with the objective to design, build and fly the world’s most affordable tactical jet aircraft capable of performing lower-threat battlefield and homeland security missions.”

  • Mortal Kombat Invades The DC Universe In Latest Injustice DLC

In 2008, Midway released Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe on the PS3 and Xbox 360. The fighting game was a strange crossover that worked for some while not exactly winning the favor of others. NetherRealm redeemed itself earlier this year with the exclusively DC fighter Injustice: Gods Among Us, but now the developers will be introducing one character from the Mortal Kombat universe into the game.

NetherRealm announced today that Scorpion, arguably the most recognizable character from Mortal Kombat, will be joining the roster of Injustice as a DLC character. The coolest part about Scorpion’s inclusion is that Jim Lee will create a new design for the character so that he fits more easily into the DC Universe.

Previously, NetherRealm had announced Lobo and Batgirl as the first two DLC characters for Injustice. There will be more DLC characters release for the game, but it’s unknown if the developers will include more characters from the Mortal Kombat universe.

Oh, and for you Martian Manhunter fans, you’ll want to watch the end of the trailer for a little surprise.
