  • Shonda Rhimes Reveals the Moment When Enough Was Enough and Began a 127 Lb. Weight Loss Journey

Shonda Rhimes Reveals the Moment When Enough Was Enough and Began a 127 Lb. Weight Loss Journey

Shonda Rhimes has revealed the moment when enough was enough and she decided it was time to say “yes” to losing weight.

While visiting The Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about her new book, The Year of Yes, Rhimes shared some of the changes she’s made since beginning her personal mission of saying yes.

Shonda Rhimes told De Generes that after giving a commencement speech at Dartmouth, she came to the realization that public speaking (which she had been afraid of) could be a good thing, Rhimes set out to conquer more of her fears.

She told Ellen that “the more fears I conquered, the more I felt like, ‘Oh wait, I can do this too.’”

One of the challenges the Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal creator gave herself was losing weight.

According to TV Guide, Rhimes has lost a remarkable 127 pounds and said the change was sparked by a moment on an airplane when she realized she couldn’t buckle her seat belt because of her weight.

“It wasn’t the seat belt, it was me,” she said of the embarrassing moment. “And I decided that I would risk just flying out of my seat because I wasn’t going to say anything.

“It really was about the fact that I have a three-year-old and a two-year-old and a 13-year-old and I kind of wanted to be around for them,” Rhimes added.

I think we can all learn from Shonda Rhimes and her mission of saying yes to scary and difficult challenges in our lives. What are your thoughts?

  • Ellen DeGeneres Slams Portia De Rossi Breakup Rumors, Couple Celebrates Ellen’s New Bergdorf Goodman Clothing Line

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have long been the subject of divorce rumors, but the married couple of seven years looked very much in love as they shared a bit of PDA in New York City on Thursday.

The couple held hands–and even dressed quite similarly–in celebration of Ellen DeGeneres’s new clothing line, ED. Now prominently featured at Bergdorf Goodman, Ellen and Portia wore pieces from the line to laud yet another of Ellen’s successes. Kanye West and Kim Kardashian showed up for the launch, lending their support to Ellen DeGeneres.

The talk show host wore a tuxedo-type ensemble, featuring a crisp white button down shirt with slim black pants and a fitted jacket. Portia de Rossi wore a similar style in her pants and jacket. She paired hers with a ruffled blouse and sexy high heels.

Earlier in the day, Ellen DeGeneres and the Scandal actress were spotted hand-in-hand, strolling through NYC. While not dressed in haute couture, the couple was still dressed alike. Ellen DeGeneres wore a blue plaid button-down shirt, with Portia de Rossi wearing a similar one in red.

It’s wonderful to see Ellen and Portia together and happy. Rumors of a rocky marriage plagued the couple for months. On Thursday, however, they appeared comfortable and very much in love.

“We’re kind of flattered [by the breakup rumors], because for a while no one cared about us, and we thought ‘Oh, lesbians aren’t worthy of tabloid stories!’” Ellen DeGeneres joked while she was a guest on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show this past week. “We’re kind of flattered that they even care about us.”

Congratulations to Ellen DeGeneres on the launch of her new Bergdorf Goodman clothing line–and on taking all those rumors about a rocky relationship in stride.

  • Shonda Rhimes Gets Fourth Show On ABC With “The Killing” Star In Lead

Shonda Rhimes has pretty much been dominating television lately; between her duties on Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, and the huge hit Scandal, she’s had her hands full with successful shows, and they all belong to ABC. Now, word is out that she has a new show in progress for the network, and the news is spreading like wildfire among her fans.

The new show, The Catch, focuses on smart, strong fraud investigator Alice (played by The Killing star Mirelle Enos), who finds herself in a sticky situation with her fiance, who takes advantage of her and then takes off. While taking care of her business, she has to also track him down and make things right before her career–and reputation–are ruined.

Rhimes has been honored several times for her many achievements in the arts and is held up as a role model and leader for successful women everywhere; however, at an awards banquet last year, Rhimes said she’s just trying to make things better for females, and that she hasn’t broken through the “glass ceiling”.

“‘Do they know I haven’t broken through any glass ceilings,’ I asked my publicist. He assures me that I have. I assure him that I have not. I have not broken through any glass ceilings. If I had broken through any glass ceilings, I would know. If I had broken through a glass ceiling, I would have felt some cuts, I would have some bruises, there’d be shards of glass in my hair. … If I’d broken the glass ceiling, that would mean I made it through to the other side, where the air is rare. I would feel the wind on my face,” Rhimes said.

Despite her reluctance to accept such high praise, Rhimes has garnered scores of loyal fans who will likely make her new show as successful as the others.

  • Portia de Rossi: ‘Scandal’ Return ‘Exciting,’ ‘Amazing’

Portia de Rossi recently dished about the return of ABC’s Scandal, calling the new season both ‘exciting‘ and ‘amazing.’ She teased about the show’s return from midseason break while she and wife Ellen DeGeneres walked the red carpet at the People’s Choice Awards last Wednesday.

“What I’m reading now, and what we’re doing that will air at the end of the month, it’s kind of amazing,” de Rossi shared.

“[It’s] very exciting,” she added while speaking to ET.

The former Ally McBeal star still wouldn’t spill the beans, however. There were absolutely no spoilers leaked from her lips to ET’s mic. Portia de Rossi plays the role of Elizabeth North, whose conniving schemes are beginning to come unraveled. It’s the kind of role that de Rossi has said she’s wanted since Scandal first began.

Even Ellen DeGeneres wouldn’t spill any of the Scandal beans.

“She comes home and starts talking about her day, like anybody who wants to share their day… but I don’t want to know her day! Because I’m a fan, and I want to see it like everybody else,” DeGeneres said.

“So I know things that are happening that are cray-cray,” Ellen added.

It seems fans will simply have to wait to see Portia de Rossi in her role as Elizabeth North when Scandal returns will new episodes beginning on January 29th. Check her–and the rest of the Scandal cast, including Kerry Washington, Guillermo Díaz, and more–at 8:00 PM.

    Will you be tuning in?

  • Shonda Rhimes Honored At Women in Entertainment Breakfast

Shonda Rhimes has created some of the most popular shows on television and she was recently honored for these shows at the Hollywood Reporter’s 23rd annual Women in Entertainment Breakfast.

At the event, Rhimes was presented with the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award, the annual prize created in 2004 that recognizes a woman who is a pioneer and a leader in her industry.

Lansing talked about Rhimes’ shows and her achievements saying,

“I am a huge fan of Shonda’s, I’m totally addicted to Scandal — and I think all of us are. Shonda has redefined the role of women in television, and, in doing so, society as well. She has given us complex and diverse characters and she has made all of us want to be Gladiators. Thank you for accepting this award; it means a great deal to me and I am truly honored.”

Tony Goldwyn, who is one of the main actors in the Scandal series, introduced Rhimes and recalled the first time he met her.

“Every day I am amazed by the force of her intellect, her clarity of focus, her humor, her compassion and her ability to spin stories that are fantastically, addictively entertaining,” said Goldwyn. “And at the same time deeply, sometimes uncomfortably real and emotionally honest. I have had the honor of watching Shonda redefine the television landscape with creation of so many beautiful, brilliant, dynamic, powerful, and empowering female characters. That is why she is so deserving of the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award.”

Rhimes’ shows have given women a lot more diverse and complicated roles and her shows have huge fan followings.

Everyone is waiting to see what she will come up with next.

  • Shonda Rhimes Says The Glass Ceiling Is Still There

Shonda Rhimes is one of the most prominent women in television today as the creator of Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and Scandal. She’s also frequently recognized as one of the leading voices behind the advancement of women and African-Americans in media. Despite all this success, she doesn’t feel that women are treated better in entertainment.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Rhimes was awarded the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at THR’s Women in Entertainment Breakfast. In her acceptance speech, she claimed that she never broke the glass ceiling – a political concept that describes the unspoken barrier that keeps women and minorities out of the upper corporate hierarchy. Instead, she says that she’s just one of many women who are slowly making things better for the women of the future.

“‘Do they know I haven’t broken through any glass ceilings,’ I asked my publicist. He assures me that I have. I assure him that I have not. I have not broken through any glass ceilings. If I had broken through any glass ceilings, I would know,” said Rhimes. “If I had broken through a glass ceiling, I would have felt some cuts, I would have some bruises, there’d be shards of glass in my hair. … If I’d broken the glass ceiling, that would mean I made it through to the other side, where the air is rare. I would feel the wind on my face.”

You can watch the whole acceptance speech below:

With this award, Rhimes joins the ranks of other amazing women in entertainment, like Oprah Winfrey, Diane Keaton and Jane Fonda.

The award’s namesake – Sherry Lansing – thanked Rhimes for making it better for women in television:

“I am a huge fan of Shonda’s. I’m totally addicted to Scandal — and I think all of us are,” Lansing said. “Shonda has redefined the role of women in television, and, in doing so, society as well. She has given us complex and diverse characters and she has made all of us want to be Gladiators. Thank you for accepting this award; it means a great deal to me and I am truly honored.”

The First Lady even chimed in saying that Rhimes is going to change history. In fact, she feels that the current climate women face in the entertainment industry is going to feel like “ancient history” once Rhimes is done. The time that the First Lady describes can not come soon enough.

  • Portia de Rossi, Ellen DeGeneres Celebrate 10-Year Anniversary With Holiday Party

Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres have been married for 10 years as of December 1st, and the two will share their joy with an anniversary party later in the month. Will this be proof enough for the naysayers who thought Ellen and Portia were through? The two went through a rocky patch earlier in 2014, but appear to be doing well these days.

According to a report from RadarOnline, Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres are closer than ever now.

“Ellen is in an insanely good mood lately,” a source tells them, and adds that she and Portia want to help spread their joy.

“They are holding a big holiday party at their new house and virtually everyone is invited!”

Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres own several properties together, and it’s not yet certain at which ‘new house’ they will hold their ‘anniversary holiday bash.’ What is certain, however, is that the two appear so much more at ease and in love with each other than they did during their time of turmoil.

Portia shared a photo of her with Ellen via Twitter just a few days before their anniversary.

The Scandal star and the talk show host have no doubt had a very trying year. A celebration of their love during the holiday season might be just what everyone needs to look toward a happier future. When Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres kick off the New Year next month, may it be with a renewed outlook and an abundance of love.

Some speculate a baby may even be in the cards for the couple’s future. How do you think parenthood might behoove Ellen and Portia?

  • Stephen Collins, ‘7th Heaven’ Father, Cut from ‘Scandal’ Episode

Stephen Collins has experienced a definite fall from grace. The 7th Heaven father and pastor has now been dropped from an upcoming episode of Scandal. ABC decided to remove all of his footage from the episode in light of recent sexual abuse allegations.

“We can confirm that we will not be airing any footage with Stephen Collins,” a rep for ABC said during a recent interview.

Stephen Collins appeared on an episode of Scandal during Season 2, in the role of anchorman Reed Wallace. He finished filming for the Season 3 episode back in September. Collins tweeted about wrapping the filming on September 23rd.

Both UP TV and the TVGuide Network pulled reruns of 7th Heaven this past week. Earlier he was fired from the cast of Ted 2. The investigation into the Stephen Collins sexual abuse allegations is ongoing.

Regardless of what the outcome of the investigation may be, it definitely sounds as though Stephen Collins’s career is over. Even if he is found innocent of any wrongdoing–and the tape the media released doesn’t make that sound likely–he will forever be thought of as someone somehow related to sex crimes, and that will make it quite unlikely he’ll find work again as an actor.

  • Tania Clarence: Forgiven For Suffocating Children By Her Husband

Tania Clarence: Forgiven For Suffocating Children By Her Husband

The British public is of two minds about Tania Clarence, the investment banker’s wife who suffocated her three young children.

There are those in the United Kingdom and around the world who view the South African native as an entitled monster; a woman who would rather see her children dead than turned over to child services.

Others view the 43-year-old mother in a more sympathetic light, especially after a history of mental health issues was revealed during her trial.

Tania Clarence smothered her three-year-old twins Ben and Max and four-year-old daughter Olivia in their beds during Easter.

Her eight-year-old daughter Taya was away on holiday with Tania’s husband, Gary Clarence.

She pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility.

Clarence has since blamed her actions on a combination of factors.

Tania Clarence said that she could not cope with the “unbearable pressure” placed on her by medical professionals about the care of her three youngest children.

The three of them suffered from spinal muscular dystrophy type two, a medical condition which left them unable to stand, walk, or even feed themselves.

Persons diagnosed with this hereditary disease rarely live beyond young adulthood.

Though the affluent couple lived in a multi-million dollar home and had a nanny to aid in child care, Tania Clarence said that she struggled to provide the children the proper care.

At least, in accordance with the demands made by doctors and various other medical professionals.

In all, nearly 60 medical authorities had interacted with the Clarences; there was often a clash between the parents and the medical authorities as to what was best for the children.

Tania’s defense team claimed that the invasive nature of medical care and threats of invasive surgery on her children created a severe strain in a woman in the midst of a depressive episode.

The solution to Clarence’s problems became a fatalistic one.

The mother wrote a series of letters to her husband, during which time she suffocated her twins and then her daughter. She also attempted but failed to commit suicide.

Her husband Gary has forgiven his wife for her actions, and stood by her throughout the trial.

He hopes that “never again will a family endure the unbearable pressure that overwhelmed” his wife.

Tania Clarence will not serve jail time for her actions as a judge has sentenced her to be confined indefinitely to a psychiatric hospital.

Although Gary still loves and supports his wife, public sentiment toward the mother who killed her children isn’t so unanimous.

The wealth and privilege enjoyed by Tania and Gary Clarence has led some to suspect she simply wanted get rid of the black mark on her family. Others said they had more than enough money to turn over care to professionals.

But others say that as a woman with mental health problems and a sense of hopelessness about the quality of life for her kids, Tania Clarence should be pitied far more than hated.

  • Katherine Heigl, ‘State of Affairs’ Filling ‘The Blacklist’s’ Slot

Katherine Heigl stars in State of Affairs tonight (Monday, November 17th) in the NBC slot that housed The Blacklist throughout its intense and wildly popular fall season. Can Heigl draw in fans the way The Blacklist’s James Spader lured them on Monday night TV?

The former Grey’s Anatomy star plays the role of Charleston Tucker–known as Charlie–who works as the president’s most trusted national security adviser. The president is played by Alfre Woodard.

The New York Times describes State of Affairs as having “some of the sex and high-stepping melodrama of Scandal on ABC, but actually resembling Madam Secretary, the CBS series that stars Téa Leoni as Elizabeth McCord, a maverick secretary of state who suspects that the death of her predecessor was no accident,” even more. Like Elizabeth, Charlie, “is more enmeshed in current affairs than extramarital ones.”

The Times continues, saying, “the narrative of State of Affairs is not as outré as the one in Scandal, but it’s still preposterous and at times laughable. That’s not a disqualifier; it’s pretty much a prerequisite for a network action-adventure series. Plausibility isn’t the measure, panache is. The Fox series 24 in its heyday had it. So does Scandal. Now, The Blacklist on NBC has it–mostly because James Spader is the star.” That said, can Katherine Heigl do for NBC during this run of State of Affairs what James Spader did? She definitely has huge shoes to fill. The Blacklist is, after all, returning for its upcoming season in a coveted slot following the Super Bowl in February, in what will be a two-part season premiere. Grey’s Anatomy experienced a draw of 37.9 million viewers when it premiered in that slot back in 2006.

Katherine Heigl, as most everyone knows by now, has a reputation for being difficult to deal with. Will her reputation follow her on to the set of State of Affairs?

Will you be tuning in to see Katherine Heigl in her new role as Charlie Tucker Monday nights on State of Affairs? Will The Blacklist fans watch, too, hoping it fills that void that likely no one but Red Reddington can fill?

  • Shonda Rhimes To Receive Sherry Lansing Award

Shonda Rhimes To Receive Sherry Lansing Award

Shonda Rhimes has been chosen to receive The Hollywood Reporter’s Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at its 2014 Women in Entertainment Breakfast that is set to take place on December 10 at Milk Studios in Los Angeles.

The award is given to a woman who is a leader and pioneer in her industry and Shonda Rhimes is the perfect example of this. Through her hit shows, and her production company Shondaland, Rhimes has created empowering roles for women and has stood up for the causes close to her heart.

“Over the past decade, Shonda Rhimes has completely redefined the way women are perceived on television — and therefore in society too,” Lansing said. “She’s created iconic roles for women; she’s put women front and center in the national debate; and she’s also been a pioneering force in leading the way for African-American women in the media. And what’s amazing about her is, she hasn’t just done this once: she’s done it over and over and over again. She’s a creative, intellectual and artistic powerhouse, and I’m thrilled she’ll receive the award that carries my name.”

Co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media’s Entertainment Group Janice Min said that Shonda “represents a unique embodiment of the spirit and value of the Women in Entertainment initiative.”

“As a person whose creativity, talent and drive transcend boundaries, Shonda is fearless in her career, owning the Hollywood conversation with her portrayal of diverse, strong female characters,” Min added. “I’m truly honored this extraordinary woman is helping us carry this torch.”

Rhimes currently has three shows on ABC’s Thursday night lineup: Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder.

Past recipients of the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award are Oprah Winfrey, Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep, Halle Berry, Jodie Foster, Glenn Close and Barbara Walters.

  • Kerry Washington Talks Women, Perfection And Self-Confidence

Kerry Washington has learned a very simple, yet valuable, lesson in life – the importance of being herself.

Although most would assume such a task would be relatively easy, the famed Scandal star recently revealed it was a bit of a challenge for her, reports Cover Media.

On Monday, Nov. 3, Kerry made an appearance on The View where she openly discussed individuality and the desire women have to be perfect.

During the discussion she touched on her life as an only child and how conscious she is about how people perceive her.

She also recounted a time in her life when she learned about the flaws of self-reliance. Although it’s quite beneficial to be independent, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with asking for help.

“As women we want to be perfect. As an only child, I’m very aware of how people see me,” Kerry said.

“When I was in college someone told me that self reliance was a character flaw and I thought what do you mean? I thought that’s what the goal in life was, to be able to do everything perfectly on your own, so it’s been a really important lesson for me in life to just ask for help and be who I am,” the 37-year-old actress said.

She went on to discuss the challenges she’s faced with aspects of self-confidence throughout her life. However, she credits her parents and her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, for the progress she’s made over the years.

“I also have phenomenal parents, they’re amazing,” she gushed.

Although the D’jango Unchained star obviously loves her parents and husband, there’s another little person she’s also quite fond of – her own daughter! For those who don’t know, Washington and Asomugha welcomed their first child back in April.

Of course, she beamed like only a proud mother would. “She’s perfect,” she said of her six-month-old daughter.

Fans can catch Kerry Washington on Scandal every Thursday at 9/8c on the Alphabet!

  • Portia de Rossi, Ellen DeGeneres Fighting Again: Marriage Suffering?

Portia de Rossi and wife Ellen DeGeneres are reportedly fighting once again. The couple was said to be en route to a fundraiser for Saving SPOT! when the alleged spat took place.

“Ellen and Portia were supposed to be at the event at 5 p.m., but at 6:30 p.m., the media was still waiting for their arrival,” a source for the New York Post’s Page Six claims. Reporters were told they were on their way, until the head of the charity informed everyone at the end of the event that they weren’t going to make it due to ‘logistics.’”

Both Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi deny these claims. The couple made a joint statement to Page Six in their effort to dispel the rumor.

“We were happy to lend our names as honorary chairs and the organization was always aware that we would be unable to attend. This is the first time we have seen our images attached to the invite. It was not approved and it is misleading,” the statement reads.

Marty Singer is one of Ellen’s attorneys. He had the following to say about the fight allegations.

“The story is a complete lie. My client told the organizer they never agreed nor planned to attend the event. There was no fight that caused them not to attend.”

Fox News reports that the charity, Saving SPOT!, has yet to respond for a request for comments.

RadarOnline, however, is reporting that Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s current relationship is ‘as tumultuous as ever.’

In fact, a source tells them that Portia often shows up on the set where The Ellen DeGeneres Show is filmed, solely to check up on her wife.

“It is kind of creepy,” the source says. “Portia never used to come to see her at work.”

“Ellen tells us that it helps having her there because she ‘at least she doesn’t have to worry about her being home alone,’” the source adds of the Scandal star. “I have to admit, however, it seems like Portia is being slightly controlling by her unplanned visits.”

What do you suppose the real scoop is behind Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres and their marriage? Are these ‘sources’ simply weighing in with speculations on something about which they have no real proof? Or are things going wrong once again for Portia and Ellen?

  • Shonda Rhimes Addresses Gay Scene Critic

Shonda Rhimes lashed out at one of the “tweeples” on Sunday after they wrote that her “gay scenes” were “too much” on Twitter.

“@shondarhimes the gay scenes in scandal and how to get away with murder are too much,” one of Shonda’s fans wrote. “There is no point and they add nothing to the plot.”

This comment did not sit well with Rhimes, who is the creator of the hit shows Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away with Murder, and she took the opportunity to let the user know that comments of this nature were not allowed in “Shondaland.”

“@Dabdelhakiem There are no GAY scenes. There are scenes with people in them,” Shonda tweeted. “If you are suddenly discovering that Shondaland shows have scenes involving people who are gay, you are LATE TO THE PARTY,” she added. “If u use the phrase “gay scenes”, u are not only LATE to the party but also NOT INVITED to the party. Bye Felicia. #oneLOVE.”

Shonda has always been supportive of the gay community and includes gay characters in each of her shows. She even received a Golden Gate award from GLAAD in 2012 for her commitment to the LGBT community.

To finish off her rant, Shonda wrote, “I love all you Tweeples. Even the ones who still need to grow. And remember that at some point, someone discriminated against you too. I don’t know why this kind of hate is out there. Ugh. #onelove. At least in Shondaland. Have a great rest of your weekend!”

  • Kerry Washington Hates Awkward Sex Scenes

Kerry Washington Hates Awkward Sex Scenes

Kerry Washington recently opened up about the “awkward” sex scenes she has to shoot for her hit television show Scandal.

Washington plays the part of political crisis management expert Olivia Pope, who is often seen having sexual relations with President Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III, who is played by her co-star Tony Goldwyn.

Washington explained that it was hard for her to portray intimate acts that she would normally only do with her husband Nnamdi Asomugha. On top of that, she said it is even harder to have a room full of people watching you while you do it.

“Sex scenes are always awkward,” she told Allure magazine during a recent interview.

“They’re hard to do. You’re doing things that you’re supposed to do with only certain people in your life,” she continued. “Because this is not your real partner in life, doing that is awkward. And then doing it in a room full of people is awkward.”

Because both Washington and Goldwyn are both married, they are sensitive to each other’s significant others and are very aware to not cross any boundaries.

“Particularly with a show like ours, where people are so invested in the chemistry, you just learn to be careful, because people’s real relationships in life are important,” Washington explained. “I so respect and admire his wife and him and their family, and he feels the same way about mine. And so you learn to be careful about how you say things.”

  • Shonda Rhimes Is Tired Of Hearing About Her Race

Shonda Rhimes, the creator of the hit television shows Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and the newest How To Get Away With Murder, recently opened up about how she hates to be categorized by her race and gender.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the role of race and gender in Hollywood really “pisses her off.”

Rhimes recalled a recent even where she was sent a draft of how she would be introduced at an upcoming event. The draft read, “the most powerful black female showrunner in Hollywood.” Rhimes read the draft, crossed out black and female, and returned it.

“They wouldn’t say that someone is ‘the most powerful white male showrunner in Hollywood,’” she explained. “I find race and gender to be terribly important; they’re terribly important to who I am,” Rhimes continued. “But there’s something about the need for everybody else to spend time talking about it… that pisses me off.”

The issue of race and success was also brought up when The New York Times wrote an article about Rhimes. The article, written by television critic Alessandra Stanley, read, “When Shonda Rhimes writes her autobiography, it should be called ‘How to Get Away With Being an Angry Black Woman.’”

“Confused why @nytimes critic doesn’t know identity of CREATOR of show she’s reviewing. @petenowa did u know u were “an angry black woman”?” she tweeted at the time. “Apparently we can be “angry black women” together, because I didn’t know I was one either! @petenowa #LearnSomethingNewEveryday.”

Rather than having the publication retract the article, Rhimes wants them to keep it. “In this world in which we all feel we’re so full of gender equality and we’re a postracial [society] and Obama is president, it’s a very good reminder to see the casual racial bias and odd misogyny from a woman written in a paper that we all think of as being so liberal.”

  • Ray Rice Scandal: TMZ Claims NFL Never Bothered With Tape

This entire situation is getting increasingly disturbing.

It was TMZ that had possession of and chose to leak the full video of Ray Rice’s assault on his then-fiance Janay Palmer (now Janay Rice).

In the 24 hours since the scandalous video was made available in full to the public, there has been a huge backlash against Rice, the Baltimore Ravens, and the NFL.

The latter two parties, in an effort to clean up their bad PR, made the decision to dump Rice.

While this is the most logical course of action, the events that occurred months before cannot be erased or overlooked.

What Ray Rice did to his partner in that elevator is only the unfortunate beginning.

The behavior of the Baltimore Ravens and NFL when the situation first came to light should have been enough for decisive action. Somehow a video of Rice dragging a woman’s unconscious body out of the elevator wasn’t nearly as alarming to these organizations as it SHOULD have been.

Instead, Mrs. Rice was forced to sit side-by-side with the man who attacked her. She was forced to “own her role” in getting KNOCKED OUT. To add insult to previous injuries, the Baltimore Ravens chose to declare this on Twitter.

By the way Ravens, deleting that tweet and the unbelievably gross Rice quote that followed, will not make them go away.

Once on the internet, always on the internet.

As for the NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell finds himself having to explain whether or not a disturbing accusation leveled at him and the NFL by TMZ is true.

The site is currently claiming that the NFL did not see the full elevator assault tape at all.

Not because the organization lacked the ability to gain access to it, but because they never requested it! The implication is that the NFL never had any intention of viewing the tape at all.

This would also mean that Rice was given a virtual slap on the wrist because Goodall made his decision without even bothering with a rather huge piece of important evidence.

As TMZ pointed out, Goodall made his decision with regard to the two game ban because the abuser and abuse victim sat down and “agreed” that they were both responsible for what happened.

This is very very upsetting information to consider.

It would mean that the NFL and Baltimore Ravens BOTH had a hand in not only forcing a woman to protect her attacker, but to stand up for him and actually apologize for her unfortunate situation.

The deletion of tweets and termination of Ray Rice’s contract cannot erase that kind of tasteless and inconsiderate behavior.

Now is the time to ask tough questions…like whether or not certain parties should be joining Ray Rice as former employees of the NFL.

  • Kerry Washington on Her Baby Girl: ‘She’s Awesome’

Kerry Washington is mad in love with her beautiful baby daughter.

The Scandal star keeps very private when it comes to her personal life, so the fact that she even mentioned little Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha says so much about the joy she is experiencing as a new mother.

“My little girl is four months! She’s fantastic,” she gushed to E! News on the 2014 Emmys Red Carpet. “She’s great. She’s awesome!”

Washington told the Los Angeles Times last month that her life couldn’t be more perfect these days.

“I feel really blessed,” said the actress. “I know how extraordinary my life is right now, and how the opportunities I have are, so I’m very, very, very grateful.”

The Scandal star is also looking fantastic just four months after giving birth, and her weight loss secret is not really a big secret.

“A lot of working out,” she said. “That’s it!”

    Note that girls!

Washington recently enjoyed the pleasure of meeting President Barack Obama at a fundraiser held at the home of Scandal creator, Shonda Rhimes, and had only good things to say about the Commander-in-Chief.

“He’s so kind. Shonda Rhimes had a wonderful fundraiser at her home that I cohosted and he was there,” she told E! News. “He was being very kind and thanked us for being supportive of the Democratic Party.”

The 37-year-old actress also gave a few hints about the upcoming season of Scandal. According to Washington, the relationship between her character, Olivia Pope, and Abby Whelan, played by Darby Stanchfield, will have a lot of surprises.

“There’s a lot of Abby this season, which is really good because Abby and Olivia Pope have a very complicated relationship,” she told E! News. “That’s going to be yummy.”

The fourth season of Scandal premieres Sept. 25 on ABC.

  • Ariana Grande Might Owe Someone An Apology

If Ariana Grande has truly bypassed the ongoing nudes scandal, then she certainly has a right to gloat.

That would mean the hacker and individuals happily passing around supposed pictures of the 21-year-old singer have been successfully duped.

It also means that Grande has the good fortune to be spared tweets calling her a whore and asking her why she’s so “stupid” that she’d take sexual pictures of herself, even if she never intended those pictures to be spread around among strangers.

It wasn’t enough for Grande to emphatically deny that the nudes were her own. She took to Twitter to remark snidely, “my lil ass is a lot cuter than that lmao”.

Let’s take a step back, shall we?

If Grande is telling the truth and she has no legitimate part of the leaked nudes, that really wouldn’t change the fact that somebody’s private pictures are part of this ongoing celebrity nudes leak.

This would simply mean the hacker could have snagged images from some unsuspecting lookalike, either believing those images belonged to Grande or perhaps hoping to earn additional “street cred” through pretending he stole nude photos of Grande.

If this person did not consent to share her pictures, then whether her butt looks as cute as Grande’s is hardly the issue.

Because it doesn’t change the fact that someone had her privacy violated along with Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, and a barrage of other women celebrities.

Does the fact that this person is not famous make it somehow okay to poke fun at her body?

Is this REALLY the most mature response that Grande can muster in the face of a gross sexual violation of a group of women, some of them her colleagues in the entertainment industry?

    I totally get it.

What woman wouldn’t be pissed that the fame she worked SO HARD for could be threatened by something as inconveniently timed as an unwanted nude scandal?

After all, the sexual self-expression of women is often something that people are more than happy to beat women upside the head for daring to indulge in. Even in private and with husbands.

But the fact that the instinct was to attack a nameless potential victim rather than the people responsible for the scandal is very telling.

Perhaps an apology is owed to Grande for entangling her in this ugly situation. But if someone out there is a victim of this hacker, then it’s fair to say Grande owes her an apology.

An apology, and not a judgmental remark about what her behind should or shouldn’t look like.

  • Jennifer Lawrence’s Nude Scandal To Have Legal Ramifications

NOTE: Yes, Jennifer Lawrence’s nudes leaked. No, the actual pics will not be posted because her lawyers have already promised to bring down police, lawsuits, Hell fire, and never before seen Twilight footage crashing down on anyone who shares the images.

…Well, maybe not that last one, but you get the picture. Shit has gotten real, and some of us aren’t looking to be sued.

Yet again we have a creepy hacker leaking nude pics of unsuspecting women celebrities. This one coming to us by way of troll central aka 4chan.

This anonymous hacker claimed to have access to ALL KINDS of nudes stolen from the likes of Ariana Grande, Kate Upton, and Jennifer Lawrence.

It is Jennifer Lawrence’s alleged nudes that have captured the attention of practically the entire internet.

Apparently the idea that America’s Sweetheart and Mockingjay may be anything less than a goofy virgin has put people into something of a tizzy.

It should be noted that the shock wasn’t enough to keep persons from viewing or even sharing the images through various social media sites.

Now, if you thought Lawrence’s people were going to sit idly by while the gossip sites and thirsty fanboys spread her goods around, you were wrong!

TMZ said that representatives of the 24-year-old actress told them in an exclusive statement that “the authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence.”

Speaking of TMZ, at least one person accused the gossip site of being the alleged origin of the leaks.

According to internet celebrity Callum McGinley’s recently departed Twitter account:

“TMZ are going to post nudes of like 20 celebs tonight. They are offering the guy who hacked the phones of celebs 6 figure sums to sell them.”

It was shortly thereafter that McGinley’s account went POOF!

Apparently he made the rather short-sighted decision to re-post leaked the nudes himself. This led to his account getting reported and eventually suspended.

He’s not alone as websites, social media accounts, and articles featuring the uncensored images are vanishing left and right.

Seriously folks, don’t mess with Jennifer Lawrence’s legal team. They will ruin your life and your internet!

  • Meagan Good Does Not Bleach Her Skin

First there were rumors that Meagan Good (Anchorman 2, Think Like a Man) would replace Kerry Washington on the ABC hit drama, Scandal, when Washington refused to accept a pay decrease.

The initial article, posted on Cream BMP Daily, turned out to be a hoax. But it seems as if Good cannot get away from the rumors.

Recently there have been questions as to whether the 33-year old actress bleaches her skin. But Good was quick to set the record straight about the rumor.

“I can’t believe I’m actually going to address this nonsense lol,” she wrote on Instagram, “Buuuut I have young women who follow me – so I think it’s important to give clarity because I believe that black and every other color is beautiful.”

Good addressed those who would believe that she would actually do such a thing as bleaching her face and body to have lighter skin.

“I LOVE my complexion – no matter what side of the spectrum I’m at at any particular time…My skin looks various different ways for various reasons – from lighting to makeup…style of photography or something as simple as weather and what coast on working on at any given time…This is my complexion – the one I was born with.”

But the Saw 5 actress did point out that her skin, like many others, does tend to get lighter and darker depending on how much sun she gets.

“I looove the sun I’m a Cali gal,” she wrote, “But as I’ve gotten older and especially more recently, since I’ve gotten into my 30s, I tend not to be in the sun as much because it ages your skin terribly.”

As for her blonde hair, Good says, “GET. YO. LIFE.” She dyed her hair not to look more Caucasian but because she likes it.

“I went blonde for the same reason I went purple …and for the same reason I’ll probably go Green at some point.”

Good ended by saying that she shouldn’t have even taken the time to respond to the foolishness but she “felt moved to say something for every little brown girl that follows my page.”

“I’m proud to be me brown or tan, thick or thin, natural hair or weave or dyed purple or green. Godbless.”
