  • Kirk Cameron Blames ‘Haters and Atheists’ for Low Ratings for His Film, ‘Saving Christmas’

Kirk Cameron tried to bolster low ratings for his new film, Saving Christmas, in a most unusual way on Friday.

“Keep storming! The gates of Rotten Tomatoes are falling! You are A M A Z I N G! You just drove the Rotten Tomato rating to an all-time high, soaring high of 94%! Now the haters and atheists are coming out of the woodwork, attempting to hammer your good work (they rallied to drop your rating super low),” Cameron posted on Facebook. “They are attempting, once again, to ruin Saving Christmas for everyone. Look at their language, vulgarity, and spirit of hate.”

This is the second time Cameron decided to take to Facebook to speak on his film. First, he asked the public to help improve the ratings of the film on Rotten Tomatoes.

“All of you who love Saving Christmas—go rate it at Rotten Tomatoes right now and send the message to all the critics that WE decide what movies we want our families to see,” Cameron wrote. “If 2,000 of you (out of almost 2 million on this page) take a minute to rate Saving Christmas, it will give the film a huge boost and more will see it as a result!”

When that backfired, he went with a different approach, attacking those he called ‘haters and atheists.”

However, his tactics seem to have had some impact.

Still, he continues to encourage fans to go see the film, which opens in theaters on Saturday.

“They can try to ruin a rating, but they can’t stop you from going with family and friends to see Saving Christmas this weekend!” Cameron posted. “If people continue to turn out, the theaters will hold the movie longer. YOU have the power, just like with Rotten Tomatoes, to keep Saving Christmas in the theaters. Your support sends a very loud message. Films like Soul Surfer, God’s Not Dead, Courageous and Saving Christmas are small lights in a dark world. Together, let’s light up movie theaters this weekend and remind everyone this Christmas of the true reason for the season. Together, they can’t stop us! Are you with me??”

  • Kirk Cameron Preaches On the ‘Moral Purity’ of Jessa Duggar Wedding

Kirk Cameron got to attend the Duggar/Seewald wedding, and he hopped on Facebook to tell everybody about it.

“Duggar Wedding Couple! My daughters and I were invited to Jessa and Ben’s wedding and we took this photo during the rehearsal dinner the night before. They were bursting with anticipation!”

After posting a photo of himself posing with the newlyweds Cameron went on a tear about the “moral excellence and purity” of saving one’s first kiss for the wedding day.

“We flew to the Duggar hometown, not only to be part of the fun and excitement of honoring this precious couple, but as a father, I want my daughters to see what it looks like when a couple reserves their “first kiss” for at the altar. Wow! This kind of moral excellence and purity is rare today, but our sons and daughters are priceless. This dad has only a few years to etch these meaningful images on the minds of his children.”

Since, like most other reality TV weddings, the ceremony will be featured as an episode of the Duggar’s show, Cameron had to hold his tongue on the description.

“I wish I could tell you details of the wedding, but I am sworn to absolute secrecy by the Duggars! What I can say, is that it was beautiful, meaningful, and … surprising! We were also invited to the Duggars house after for volleyball, campfire singing, and dessert till 1:30 am.”

But Cameron probably gets to count this trip off on his taxes, because the Duggars hawked his upcoming film while he was there.

“We even got to worship together at church the next morning and Jim Bob and Michelle were excited to share with family and friends about Saving Christmas! Be sure to watch the wedding episode of 19 and Counting on TLC!!”

Several of Cameron’s followers chimed in to praise the Duggars’ carnal restraint.

“My 12 year old has decided to not date, not kiss, not be involved with boys except in group settings until she feels ready to marry in part because of the Duggar Family being so public in their values.”

“My daughter and her husband saved their first kiss for their wedding night! They are both in the ministry and it has made an impact in the use of their testimony to other young adults! Very Blessed!”

“I am 16 and desire to save my first kiss for my wedding day. I want my first kiss to be with the person I know I’m going to be with forever. I go to a public school and actually just came out of a very serious relationship. It was hard to defeat that desire to kiss him, but I kept with it and know I did the right thing by letting this guy go. Now I know God has someone even better for me that will agree with me to do this.”

“What a joy! My husband and I saved our first kiss for our wedding and we’ve never regretted it! Purity for Christ’s sake is too important! What a blessing that their story gets to be shared!”

But there’s always one person at the party who has to ruin it for everybody.

“Just posting here to be- as far as I can tell- the only Christian on this thread who proudly kissed the heck out of my husband before I married him and didn’t regret one minute of it.”

  • Kirk Cameron to Save Christmas at a Theater Near You

Kirk Cameron is setting out to save Christmas. If you didn’t know it needed saving, the evangelist and former Growing Pains star assures everyone that it does.

“My hope for Saving Christmas is that families all across the country will join with my family in putting Christ back into Christmas!” he said. For too many years Christmas has been attacked and hammered by those outside the church, and it’s even changed how we think about Christmas inside the church. We are proudly going to put Christ back into Christmas and remind Christians why this is not only a holy day, but a celebration as well. I believe that families will love this movie!”

Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas is scheduled for a limited theater run beginning on November 14th. It is a collaborated effort on behalf of Cameron’s CamFam Studios and Nashville-based Provident Films.

“I am extremely excited to begin this new, ongoing relationship with Provident Films,” Kirk Cameron said in a press release.

Two additional films are already in the works by this collaboration. It is expected that the second and third films in the partnership between CamFam Studios and Provident Films will release in 2015 and 2016. Cameron’s latest project arrives just months after he voiced enthusiasm for filmmakers in the Christian community.

“I’m really excited about what I see coming out of the Christian movie industry,” the actor told The Christian Post. “There’s independent films coming out all over the place. You look at movies like ‘The Passion of the Christ,’ the Noah movie that’s coming out with Russell Crowe… Movies like ‘Fireproof’ and ‘Courageous’ which have done phenomenally well. It’s very exciting to see a new wave of young filmmakers come out with a biblical world view. They have an understanding of the Gospel and how to tell stories. They have the technology and equipment that’s so affordable that it’s all beginning to look fantastic.”

Even though Kirk Cameron is a bit heavy hitting when it comes to his evangelism, he might just be on to something with this new film. Christians–whether they be fundamentalists or simply every day recognizers of Christ as their higher power–have long complained about the commercialism at Christmas time. Maybe something in Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas will resonate with some of them.

Might you consider this as part one of your family’s pre-Christmas activities?

  • Kirk Cameron Allegedly Plots to Save Christmas from Heathens and Errant Christians

Kirk Cameron will turn you all into Christians if it kills him. And if you think you’re already a Christian, he’ll make you better.

Cameron’s latest mission is to “put Christ back in Christmas”. Samuel Goldwyn Films will release Cameron’s film Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas in a limited run on Nov. 14.

Most Christian films like this end up with straight-to-video releases, with the occasional local theatre doing a showing for area churches. But Cameron is coat-tailing on some of the other recent Bible-ish films that have caught the fascination of movie-goers, including Noah, starring Russell Crowe.

Cameron has high hopes that his film will change how the world views Christmas again.

“For too many years Christmas has been attacked and hammered by those outside the church, and it’s even changed how we think about Christmas inside the church,” Cameron said in a statement. “My hope for Saving Christmas is that families all across the country will join with my family in putting Christ back into Christmas.”

“I am extremely excited to begin this new, ongoing relationship with Provident Films. I’ve been looking for a home for my projects for awhile (sic) now. We have big plans at CAMFAM Studios and wanted to have a home base. The relationship with Provident Films has been developing over the past months, and we realized they were the natural choice,” Cameron further commented.
