  • Melissa McCarthy Hilarious in First All-Female “Ghostbusters” Trailer

Melissa McCarthy is beyond funny, as are Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie Jones in the first trailer released for the upcoming all-female remake of Ghostbusters.

The clip affords fans an initial peek at the paranormal team comprised of Melissa McCarthy and her cohorts as they embark on their “ghostbusting” duties.

Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig first thrilled fans with their comedy in the film Bridesmaids. Wiig is an SNL alum, while Jones and McKinnon are current members of the Saturday Night Live cast.

Ever since the idea of an all-female Ghostbusters hit the media, fans of the original, as well as fans of these ladies have been excited for its release. While that’s still a while off, this first trailer assures them their anticipation will be well worth the wait.

Are you a fan of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon?

If so, you’re no doubt among those eagerly awaiting the July 15 network premiere of the all-female Ghostbusters.

  • Adam Driver Parodies His ‘Star Wars’ Character Kylo Ren, Channels Aladdin For ‘SNL’

Adam Driver parodied his famous Star Wars character, Kylo Ren, in a skit while hosting Saturday Night Live.

The 32-year-old actor, who plays villainous Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and is also known for his role as Adam in HBO’s Girls, hosted SNL for the first time and was joined by musical guest and country singer Chris Stapleton.

Driver reprised his role as Kylo Ren in this Undercover Boss parody.

In another skit, Driver and Vanessa Bayer portray a married couple who win Golden Globes, who embarrass their kids watching at home by giving them a shout-out during their acceptance speech and then proceed to party a little too much at the after party.

Finally, Driver shocks fans with a pretty good impression of Aladdin by performing A Whole New World with Cecily Strong … with a twist.

Driver also took a turn as the host of America’s Funniest Cats, integrating sound effects and the kind of commentary reminiscent of any of America’s Funniest shows. Things get a little cooky when two French women (played by Cecily Strong and Kate McKinnon) who join him on the show to demonstrate how they do it back in their home country.

What did you think of Adam Driver‘s first appearance on SNL?

  • Kylo Ren Headed to Disney Theme Parks in the U.S., and to “SNL”

Kylo Ren, the Star Wars character who made his debut in the newly released film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will soon be on hand to greet guests at domestic Disney parks.

Yes, you read that correctly. Kylo Ren is headed to both Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida.

Disney made the announcement on Friday, saying Kylo Ren will appear alongside Star Wars regulars Chewbacca and Boba Fett in the Tomorrowland section of the parks.

Fans will be able to meet and greet the characters and pose for pictures with them–for a fee, of course.

The coming of Kylo Ren means the leaving of another Star Wars character, however. Disney will bid adieu to Darth Vader, although the Sith Lord Vader will continue to be in the show “Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple.”

Don’t book your trip to a Disney theme park based on seeing Kylo Ren just yet, as a date for his arrival has yet to be announced.

In a (planned?) coincidence, Kylo Ren actor Adam Driver is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, just one day after Disney’s announcement.

Will you be tuning in on Saturday night to see if Driver channels Kylo Ren (how could he not?) as part of his SNL appearance?

  • Ronda Rousey to Try Hand at Comedy, Hosting Upcoming Episode of “SNL”

Ronda Rousey didn’t find anything funny about her stunning upset in November to Holly Holm. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t have some comedy in her, however. On January 23, Rousey will host an episode of SNL. Do you think she has enough funny in her for that?

The L.A. Times reports the previously unbeaten Ronda Rousey lost in a second-round knockout to Holly Holm in Australia. Since then, Rousey has been pretty much in seclusion, save for one post-fight interview.

Ronda Rousey joins a long list of athletes who has hosted SNL, including Tom Brady, Derek Jeter, LeBron James, Peyton Manning, and George Foreman. She is the first MMA fighter to host Saturday Night Live, however.

Even though she has yet to try out her comedy chops, that doesn’t mean Ronda Rousey is a TV or film novice. She made cameo appearances in Entourage, Furious 7, and The Expendables 3.

Joining Ronda Rousey on the January 23 episode of SNL is musical guest Selena Gomez.

  • Tina Fey Has Bigger Connection to “Mean Girls” Than Simply Serving as Screenwriter

Tina Fey is one of the Mean Girls screenwriters. She also has a much bigger connection to the term “mean girls” than you might expect.

It was during a recent interview with Net-a-Porter that the Sisters star spoke honestly about how she–gasp–was a bona fide mean girl.

“I was [the mean girl], I admit it openly,” Tina Fey says.

Now at 45, Fey speaks of what drove her to be that kind of person.

“That was a disease that had to be conquered,” Tina Fey says adding, “It’s another coping mechanism–it’s a bad coping mechanism–but when you feel less than (in high school, everyone feels less than everyone else for different reasons), in your mind it’s a way of leveling the playing field. Though of course it’s not.”

Fey adds that being funny was also one of her coping mechanisms.

“For me it was about hitting age 13 and realizing, ‘OK, I’m not going to glide by on looks. I’m a normal-looking person, but that’s not going to be where my bread is buttered,’” she explains.

Tina Fey learned her lesson, however. She acknowledges that “saying something terrible about someone else does not actually level the playing field.”

These days the Saturday Night Live alum admits she often fears mean girls.

“If I meet a girl of 14 or 15 today who is that kind of girl, I am secretly, in my body, afraid. Even though I’m 45,” she says.

As the mom of two young daughters, Tina Fey will no doubt be diligent in making sure her girls don’t go the route she went as a teen. She will also likely give them tips for protecting themselves against the mean girls they meet as they grow up.

Tina Fey relives a bit of high school–often the worst “mean girls” time in a person’s life–in her new film Sisters. She stars in the film alongside real life BFF and former SNL cast mate Amy Poehler. The two plays sisters who throw a wild party in their childhood home.

  • Kate McKinnon Hilarious, Portrays Angela Merkel Learning She’s “Time’s” 2015 Person of the Year

Kate McKinnon is beyond hilarious in her role as Angela Merkel when she learns she’s been selected Time magazine’s Person of the Year.

It was during Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update” segment this past weekend that Kate McKinnon portrayed the German chancellor.

“I’m trying to celebrate,” she says, as she squirms in her seat. “My body is rejecting it. Won’t let me do it.”

Angela Merkel (Kate McKinnon) then weighs in on how she handled the difficult year her country has endured.

“2015 has not been the easiest year,” McKinnon says before lifting up Time’s 2015 Person of the Year issue. “Greece wanted to borrow more money. Syria asked if one million refugees could sleep on my couch.”

Even Time magazine agrees Kate McKinnon’s spoof is hilarious.

Did you catch Kate McKinnon as Angela Merkel on Saturday Night Live this weekend?

How does she manage to keep a straight face while being so incredibly funny?

  • Kate McKinnon’s Tale of Alien Abduction on ‘SNL’ Has Ryan Gosling, Entire Cast Losing It

Kate McKinnon shared a tale of alien abduction during a skit for Saturday Night Live this week that tickled Ryan Gosling and several cast members to the point of losing it.

Generally speaking, it is a big no-no to break character and laugh on SNL, but McKinnon’s antics became too much for Gosling and her co-stars.

    Here’s how it went down.

After a shot of the Pentagon, viewers were taken to a room where National Security Agency officers Aidy Bryant and Bobby Moynihan are interviewing three victims of “the first verified alien abduction.”

Two (Gosling, Cecily Strong) described beautiful, spiritual encounters, while the the third (Kate McKinnon) explained her bizarre mistreatment.

McKinnon is seen slumped in her chair in a K-Mart blouse and jeans, looking like a hot mess with her disheveled hair, a cigarette in hand, as she shares a series of experiences with the aliens.

McKinnon shares that her abductors were 40 gray guys “with big fat eyes, little mouths, they just stared while I peed in a steel bowl — I don’t think I was dealing with the top brass,” she said, to which Bryant responded, “And how did they instruct you to urinate — was that telepathically?” McKinnon: “Uh, no, no, I woke up and I had to pee like a camel.”.

McKinnon described the aliens’ fascination with her breasts and her rude return to Earth through the roof of a Long John Silver’s.

“I’ve had worse Wednesday nights,” she conceded.

Needless to say, it’s better to see the video for yourself!

    Funny, right?

  • Elizabeth Banks: SNL Host Makes Up For Trump’s Stint

Elizabeth Banks hosted Saturday Night Live this past week, seemingly as a reward for the previous week’s hosting job done by Donald Trump.

It’s hard to believe that comic genius and top-of-her-game Hollywood writer, director, actress, etc, Elizabeth Banks has never hosted SNL before, but it’s true.

Of course, Elizabeth Banks had no problem fitting right in on the set and turning what could have been a sub-par show into a really great night of comedy.

Isn’t it just like Effie to walk in and steal the show?

A few of her sketches could have stood on their own, especially the exceedingly entertaining mini buddy comedy with Mike O’Brien.

    Me + @disclosure + @samsmithworld + @lordemusic on @nbcsnl right now. Well, in 5mins.

A photo posted by Elizabeth Banks (@elizabethbanks) on

Of course, the sketch with Elizabeth Banks as a gender ambiguous student in a high school theatre production was a treat.

While the show started on a sombre note, with Cecily Strong taking the spotlight for a moment to say that we stand with France in solidarity,in both English and French, it quickly lightened up with Elizabeth Banks’ monologue.

Of course, it wasn’t all for fun and games, even if it seemed to be. Elizabeth Banks was there to promote her highly-anticipated movie, Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 2.

We're only ONE WEEK away from #MockingjayPart2! Get #MockingjayTickets at the link in my bio.

    Isn’t Elizabeth Banks a gem?

Are you excited to see Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket again this weekend? I know I am.

  • Scarlett Johansson Records Old Testament as Part of “Sexy Bible”

Scarlett Johansson lent her sultry voice to a recording of the Old Testament in former SNL writer and performer Mike O’Breien’s new comedy album. The track, dubbed “Sexy Bible,” features Scarlett Johansson reading some of the stranger passages from the Book of Deuteronomy for the fictional WSEX, Sexy Talk Radio.

O’Brien had long wanted to satirize the Old Testament, but realized he’d need to call in reinforcements. It wasn’t a job he could do alone.

    Enter Scarlett Johansson.

“I wasn’t sure what the comedic take would be when I first became obsessed with Deuteronomy, but I knew a female should be delivering most of it because a lot of the quotes are very misogynistic and who wants to hear a guy make fun of that,” Mike O’Brien said in an interview with Rolling Stone. “I was so thrilled that Scarlett said she’d do it.”

In addition to Scarlett Johansson, O’Brien enlisted the help of several of his Saturday Night Live alumni to help with the recordings. Cecily Strong, Fred Armisen, Vanessa Bayer, and Seth Meyers will also appear on the album.

Will you check out Scarlett Johansson in this latest endeavor–or is that a bit too strange for your tastes?

  • Demi Lovato Performs “Stone Cold” on “SNL” Amidst Tracy Morgan’s Return, Larry David’s Bernie Sanders

Demi Lovato wowed fans in the SNL audience this weekend with her performance of “Stone Cold.” Just one of seven songs the “Cool for the Summer” singer co-wrote for her new album, “Confident,” Demi Lovato was a hot topic come Sunday morning for her Saturday Night Live appearance.

“The reaction has been incredible,” Lovato said in an interview with Vanity Fair on Sunday. “I’m just honored I was able to convey the emotion of the song.”

Demi Lovato appears in the November issue of Vanity Fair both nude and sans any makeup. She is a big promoter of a healthy body image, and serves as a great example to women of all ages.

This weekend’s episode of SNL was a very special one. In addition to Demi Lovato’s performances, Tracy Morgan served as the night’s host. Appearing on the show for the first time since his limo was involved in a fatal accident en route from Delaware to New York 16 months ago, the comic thrilled not only those in the audience, but everyone on stage as well.

If you missed the show this weekend, you not only missed Tracy Morgan and Demi Lovato, but also missed a hilarious Bernie Sanders impression done by Larry David.

Did you catch this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live? What was your favorite part of the show? Was it Demi Lovato’s performances? How about Tracy Morgan’s triumphant return? Even Bernie Sanders found Larry David’s impersonation hilarious.

  • Nicki Minaj Makes Surprise “SNL” Visit, Raps “The Hills” With The Weeknd

Nicki Minaj surprised fans on Saturday night with a quick appearance on SNL, during which she rapped a remix of “The Hills” with the night’s musical guest, The Weeknd.

In addition to her rapping skills, Nicki Minaj wowed fans (as she usually does) with her wardrobe choice. Wearing a two-toned Balmain dress, through which the audience could plainly see her thong, Minaj appeared to be baring it all.

In typical Nicki Minaj fashion, the dress featured a deep–way down to there–plunging neckline, that showed off way more than ample cleavage.

Nicki Minaj chose knee-high leather Alexander McQueen boots to complement the look perfectly.

Fans likely weren’t surprised that The Weeknd collaborated with another star during his SNL performance. Known for doing just that, he recently remixed “The Hills” to feature Eminem.

Nicki Minaj had one slight glitch during her short time on SNL this weekend. The see-through fabric of that Balmain number prompted the need for pasties. That didn’t stop the dress from shifting a bit during her performance, however, and giving the audience a sneak peek of one of them–pasties, that is. Everything else stayed nicely tucked away where it belonged.

Did you stay up late on Saturday night? Was it late enough to catch Nicki Minaj’s surprise appearance and collaboration with The Weeknd?

How about Amy Schumer? She deserves kudos, too, for hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time ever.

Amy Schumer, The Weeknd, and Nicki Minaj–wow. Audience members who scored tickets for SNL this past weekend hit a triple jackpot–don’t you think?

  • Jimmy Fallon: ‘Tonight Show’ Host Returns Following Serious Finger Injury–Ring Avulsion

Jimmy Fallon was supposed to enjoy a couple weeks of vacation time from The Tonight Show, and he headed off for that vacation–likely anticipating some rest and relaxation. A trip and fall scenario in his home–on his first day off–resulted in what is called a ring avulsion. It nearly cost Fallon a finger.

Returning to The Tonight Show on Monday, Jimmy Fallon explained the entire scenario. It sounded not only serious, but excruciatingly painful. It even landed the late night host in ICU for 10 days.

“What a crazy break we had–a two week break,” Jimmy Fallon began on Monday night. “So basically what happened is, I tripped and fell in my kitchen on a braided rug that my wife loves and I can’t wait to burn it to the ground. I tripped and fell and I caught my fall… I’m getting up and my finger is sideways.”

“So I go, ‘Oh my god, did I just break my finger?’” the Saturday Night Live alum continued. “This is the lamest thing in the whole wide world. It completely looks fake. It looks like a cheap horror movie where you see a broken finger.”

Jimmy Fallon caught a cab to a local emergency room, where he was told he had a ring avulsion–and also told it couldn’t be treated there. He needed to see a specialist. Another cab ride later and Fallon was in surgery for several hours.

“Basically what it is is that my ring got caught on the countertop when I was going down and stuck there and pulled my finger off,” he explained.

The doctor–who Jimmy Fallon called “awesome,” and also explained he wore a bow tie and cowboy boots–performed microsurgery on Fallon, removing a vein from his leg and replacing it into his finger in an effort to save it.

“Apparently the odds aren’t great with these things,” Jimmy Fallon said. “This happens a lot and the odds are not–usually they’re just gonna cut your finger off.”

So fans who may have figured Jimmy Fallon was simply milking a broken finger had it all wrong. The Tonight Show host was seriously injured in what sounds like an everyday trip and fall situation.

Fortunately he is back at the helm once again.

Reruns of The Tonight Show for the past two weeks were starting to wear on many of Jimmy Fallon’s fans.

Welcome back, Jimmy Fallon. You were missed.

  • Chris Farley: Co-Star Says Late Comedian Comes Up In His Thoughts “Every Day”

Chris Farley was beloved by many during his successful tenure on Saturday Night Live, and once he branched out into films he garnered a cult following that would stay loyal to him until the day he died and far after. Now, a new documentary gives us a glimpse at the man behind the lovable goofball via interviews with his close friends and co-stars, one of whom says he thinks of Chris every day.

David Spade was particularly close with Farley, making hits Tommy Boy and Black Sheep with his SNL chum, and he says that even now, nearly 20 years after Farley’s death, he still thinks of him in some way every day.

“It comes up in something in my mind every day. And I think it will forever,” Spade said.

For many, I Am Chris Farley will serve up a dose of painful memories along with the good ones; Chris was just 33 when he died of an overdose, and the core group of his co-workers–including Adam Sandler, Phil Hartman, and Kevin Nealon–would never be the same. For those who knew him well, one of the funniest men on television was also one of the most tortured.

“He was this boy that wanted to do good, but then there was this other side of him. So his whole life was this constant battle,” Tom Arnold says in a clip from the film.

Many of Farley’s friends, family members, and former co-stars make an appearance in the film to talk about how brilliant he was, with some getting emotional as they remembered a particular sketch or moment from their time together. Actress Christina Applegate recalled how kind he was, calling him a “puppy dog”, while others lamented the high cost of fame that Chris Farley had to realize.

I Am Chris Farley premieres on SPIKE on August 10 and will be available on VOD and DVD the next day.

  • Dwayne Johnson Giddy Over Letter from Steven Spielberg

Dwayne Johnson–a.k.a. The Rock–has no doubt been blown away by many facets of excitement in the course of his 43 years. After all, he’s been a professional wrestler and a film star. Now he’s a TV star as well, with his new HBO series called Ballers.

None of these things quite compare, however, to a letter Dwayne Johnson received a few weeks ago. That letter was from Steven Spielberg.

In the cover story of Esquire magazine’s August issue, Dwayne Johnson talks about the contents of that letter.

“About three weeks ago, I’m here at the house and I get a letter. ‘Been enjoying your movies over the years. Very entertaining. I feel like I’ve really gotten to know you over the years, most recently after watching you host Saturday Night Live. Great job. You continue to go for it. Proud of your work and look forward to meeting you. Steven Spielberg,’” Johnson told the magazine. “It took me back to being just like a kid. I was so blown away.”

The San Andreas star was so excited when he received the letter that he posted a photo of himself reading it to his Instagram account.

“Grinnin’ now like a big ass kid,” he captioned the shot, adding, “THANK YOU STEVEN SPIELBERG for these inspiring and motivating words in your letter and cheers to making sure I’m always listening to that little voice in my gut.”

A photo posted by therock (@therock) on

It’s got to be quite a thrill to cross from the wrestling world into that of acting. In fact, Dwayne Johnson talks about that in his Esquire interview, too. Just imagine making that huge a transition and then receiving kudos from Steven Spielberg.

No wonder Dwayne Johnson was grinning.

    He might be grinning still.

  • Rachel Dolezal Impression by Maya Rudolph Has ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’ Crowd in Stitches

Rachel Dolezal is, of course, the woman who recently stepped down from her position as head of the Spokane, Washington NAACP after it was determined she isn’t black. Dolezal’s parents blew her cover, telling the media she is, in fact, a white woman.

On Monday night, June 22nd, Maya Rudolph was a guest on Late Night With Seth Meyers. The Bridesmaids star and SNL alum was touting her upcoming film, The Spoils Before Dying. The conversation soon turned to the many similarities in appearance that both Rudolph and Rachel Dolezal share.

“I’ve been getting that thing kind of on a daily basis with Rachel Dolezal,” Rudolph explained of the many fans who have told her recently her she should return to Saturday Night Live to play Dolezal. “I remember Tina [Fey] saying when Sarah Palin was happening, everyone kept saying, her doorman’s like, ‘You gotta be Sarah Palin!’ But it happens to me every day, people are like, ‘Oh, it’s too bad, you haven’t been on SNL since 2007. You have to play this lady.’”

Maya Rudolph then pulled a wig from behind her chair, plopped the curls on top of her head, and proceeded to do her impression of Rachel Dolezal.

Maya Rudolph and Seth Meyers then spoofed an interview Rachel Dolezal gave the media shortly after the scandal first hit the news.

Did you happen to catch Maya Rudolph doing her Rachel Dolezal impression on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Monday?

Did you find it to be hilarious or is it too soon for comedians to be spoofing the situation?

  • Maya Rudolph Channels Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey at Tulane Graduation

Maya Rudolph was the commencement speaker at Tulane University’s graduation this past weekend, and she ‘brought’ guests with her up onto the stage.

Rudolph channeled a couple of mega-stars at specific points during her speech, getting huge laughs from the crowd.

Tulane’s Green Envy a cappella group had a big surprise for Maya Rudolph before she started speaking, however. They serenaded her with their version of ‘Lovin’ You,’ which was her mother, the late Minnie Riperton’s, most famous song.

“You just blew my mind. I am so honored. You’re going to make me cry, and I’m supposed to be funny,” the actress and Saturday Night Live alum said at the graduation on Saturday. “This is going to be interesting.”

During her commencement speech she pulled out her best Oprah Winfrey impression.

“Today, Class of 2015,” she bellowed in Oprah-esque form, “look under your seats because you are all leaving here today with a college diplomaaaaaa! You get a diploma, you get a diploma, you get a diploma and you sir, you get a diploma. We’re all getting diplomaaaaaas!”

At the end of her speech–and because graduation took place in the Superdome--Maya Rudolph sang the national anthem a la Beyonce.

Having graduated from UC Santa Cruz doesn’t mean Maya Rudolph didn’t have some hard and fast ties to Tulane University. Her father, Richard Rudolph, graduated from their back in 1968. Her cousin, Sabrina Rudolph, was part of Saturday’s 2015 graduating class. She managed to embarrass her by having her stand up and wave to everyone inside the Superdome.

It must have been a blast for the graduating class at Tulane to have Maya Rudolph as their commencement speaker. And hearing her over-the-top impressions of both Beyonce and Oprah Winfrey were no doubt the icing on the cake.

  • Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow in ‘SNL’ Rom-Com Spoof

Scarlett Johansson hosted SNL on Saturday night, but it was her rom-com spoof in her Avengers: Age of Ultron character Black Widow that likely received the most laughs.

Us Weekly reports that Scarlett Johansson–in the spoof–works as a Fashion Weekly magazine writer, lives with fellow character Thor (played by Saturday Night Live’s Taran Killam), and ultimately has her heart broken by Ultron,

“So, who’s the guy?” Thor asks her in the fake trailer for Black Widow: Age of Me.

“Why do you always think there’s a guy, Thor?” she replies.

“Honey, you’re putting ketchup on your cereal!” he says.

If you missed this weekend’s episode of SNL, you have to check out Scarlett Johansson in this rom-com spoof.

    Scarlett Johansson
also announced the winner of the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight–causing many to cry ‘spolier!’

Wiz Khalifa joined Scarlett Johansson on SNL this weekend as the evening’s musical guest.

  • Cecily Strong, Of ‘SNL’ Fame, Will Host White House Correspondents’ Dinner

She has held her own against her peers at Saturday Night Live, but Cecily Strong will soon face her toughest challenge yet when she hosts this year’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.

The 31-year-old is a surprising choice to host the annual dinner. She’s not a stand-up comedian like her SNL co-host Seth Meyer, nor is she a known host like Jon Stewart.

But what she is is a veteran at improvisation who has honed her skills at Chicago’s Second City and iO comedy theaters, a skill that should come in handy at the White House roast.

She’s also, as the WHCA’s president Christi Parsons describes – “the nice girl who’s cutting in a way that you don’t really notice until later.” – making her perfect for delivering those zingers to the politicians and journalists in attendance.

Among those who’ll be in attendance is Strong’s father, a former journalist who was the one the Correspondents’ Association got in touch with first. Parsons emailed him to get in touch with Cecily.

“I thought he was saying he had been invited. So I said, “Uh, great, Dad…have fun?” the SNL mainstay said before realizing the invitation was for her.

Despite joking that she was hoping to find an excuse to turn down the offer, Cecily admits that “it’s too exciting to say no to.”

“I would kick myself. How many times will I get to do this again? Never—he’s not going to have anymore! He’s done being president now! I’m giving him his last hurrah,” she added.

And giving President Obama a fitting sendoff worries the funny lady, especially since she believes he’s the “funniest president” America has ever had.

“He’s known as an amazingly funny guy,” she admits in an interview. “You know, his timing is great. He had that moment at the State of the Union where he said, ‘Well, I should know because I won two of them.’ I’ve never said anything that cool on the spot. And so, it’s tough to follow that guy.”

  • Scarlett Johansson Will Host ‘Saturday Night Live’ on May 2nd, Heading Toward Five-Timers Club

Scarlett Johansson is hosting Saturday Night Live on May 2nd. This will be the fourth time hosting SNL for the Avengers: Age of Ultron star, and this gig falls on the day after the film hits theaters.

It was announced during this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live, which was hosted by Empire star Taraji P. Henson, that Scarlett Johansson was on deck for the May 2nd episode. No musical guest has yet been announced.

In light of when she is serving as host, could this mean that Scarlett Johansson might break out her Black Widow costume for at least one of the evening’s sketches? It would seem more than likely.

Scarlett Johansson will need to host only one more time after May 2nd in order to become a member of SNL’s coveted five-timers club. So far only 15 people have been ‘inducted’ into the group. They are Ben Affleck, Alec Baldwin, Drew Barrymore, Candice Bergen, Chevy Chase, Danny DeVito, John Goodman, Elliot Gould, Tom Hanks, Buck Henry, Steve Martin, Bill Murray, Paul Simon, Justin Timberlake, and Christopher Walken. The club was first mentioned on Saturday Night Live back in 1990 when Tom Hanks was making his fifth appearance on the show.

Scarlett Johansson last hosted SNL in 2010. Hopefully it won’t be another five years from May 2nd before she becomes a member of the five-timers club.

Will you be checking out Scarlett Johansson when Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters on May 1st? And will you be tuning in the next night to catch her as she hosts SNL–for the fourth time?

  • Carly Rae Jepsen Releases New Single, ‘All That’ On ‘Saturday Night Live’

Carly Rae Jepsen fans were in for a treat this weekend. The ‘Call Me Maybe’ singer released a new single on Saturday Night Live. Jepsen premiered ‘All That’ following her performance of ‘I Really Like You.’ ‘I Really Like You’ was released in music video format last month, and features Tom Hanks, Justin Bieber, and more, dancing along with Jepsen.

During her SNL performance, Carly Rae Jepsen was joined on stage by Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes and Ariel Rechtshaid, who produced the song.

USA Today reports that ‘All That’ is a total 360 from her bubblegum ‘Call Me Maybe’ days. In fact, they compare it with Prince and his performance of ‘Purple Rain.’

Check out Carly Rae Jepsen with Tom Hanks and Justin Bieber, performing ‘I Really Like You.’

Do you really like Carly Rae Jepsen’s latest song? Did you catch her on Saturday Night Live this weekend?

Might ‘All That’ send Carly Rae Jepsen soaring to the top of the charts, the way she did with ‘Call Me Lately?’

  • Kate McKinnon Channels Hillary Clinton, Iggy Azalea on ‘SNL’

Kate McKinnon wasn’t the host of SNL this weekend, but she certainly captured lots of attention on this episode of the show. Opening the evening with a sketch in which she channeled Hillary Clinton, McKinnon was replete with the facial expressions and hand gestures of the former first lady and future potential presidential candidate.

Of course the topic was ‘Servergate,’ regarding that private email address that has Hillary Clinton front and center in national news reports. Kate McKinnon, as Hillary Clinton, addressed the nation from her couch at the Clinton’s Chappaqua home.

In addition to Servergate, Kate McKinnon made many references to Clinton’s potential run for president–one that was accompanied by an ultrasound of Hillary Clinton in utero, waving a ‘Hillary for President’ flag. She said she knew she wanted to be president even before she was born.

A bit later in the evening, Kate McKinnon switched hats, moving on from Hillary Clinton and stealing Azealia Banks’s hat in her role as Iggy Azalea. Sasheer Zamata portrayed Banks as the two lampooned the rappers and their high-profile feud over Iggy Azalea’s habit of ‘co-opting black culture.’ Chris Hemsworth–the Saturday Night Live host for the evening–played the role of Azalea’s hip-hop cousin Rafty.

And yes, Chris Hemsworth was gorgeous on SNL. Ladies no doubt swooned over his abs, his rugged good looks, and his adorable Australian accent. However it was Kate McKinnon who made Saturday night’s show.

Did you catch SNL this weekend? Which Kate McKinnon sketch was your favorite?
