  • Loch Ness Monster Captured On Apple Maps

Is the Loch Ness Monster real? This question has been debated for years after many people have captured pictures claiming to have seen the famous Nessie.

Almost all of these pictures have been disproven … until now.

A new picture, captured by one of Apple Maps’ satellites, shows a shadowy figure in the depths of the North End of Loch Ness in Scotland. The figure is approximately 100ft long, and seems to have two large flippers moving it through the water.

The image was spotted by two individuals last year as they were searching through Apple Maps on their smart phone app. Andrew Dixon, one of the men who first noticed the picture said: “It was a total fluke that I found it. I was looking at satellite images of my town and then just thought I’d have a look at Loch Ness. The first thing that came into my head when I saw it was, ‘That’s the Loch Ness Monster.’ It was the shape of it, I thought it had to be something more than a shadow.”

Dixon then alerted the Official Loch Ness Monster Fan Club, who have since been studying the picture, trying to determine if it is actually shows Nessie. After six months, the club still has no other explanation. Gary Campbell, the club president, said that the image “most likely” shows proof of Nessie.

“It looks like a boat wake, but the boat is missing,” Campbell said. “You can see some boats moored at the shore, but there isn’t one here. We’ve shown it to boat experts and they don’t know what it is. Whatever this is, it is under the water and heading south, so unless there have been secret submarine trials going on in the loch, the size of the object would make it likely to be Nessie.”

  • Indian Navy To Launch First Satellite

Indian Navy To Launch First Satellite

The space surrounding the planet Earth is about to get a little more crowded with the Indian Navy about to launch their very first satellite into geosynchronous orbit. Once the satellite is in orbit it will carry out monitoring duties and provide communication functions for the Indian Navy.

The launch of the satellite would make the Indian Navy the 4th country in the world to feature a satellite group as a core component of their mission. This, along with their carrier group, solidifies their place as one of the Asia-Pacific regions most powerful navies. This upgrade was the only thing they need to be considered a “modern” navy.

The new satellite’s tasks include observing the Earth’s surface and ensuring uninterrupted satellite communication for the Indian Navy. It will provide sharp growth for the Indian Navy’s capabilities and the fleet will be able to exchange large amounts of information in real time. If this works out it could pave the way for a full military satellite communications network

This launch will further the regions future as a hotspot for conflict. This is mostly due to the buildup of China’s naval fleet and the United States’ response by refocusing 60% of it’s fighting vessels to the region by 2020. The great powers in the region are increasingly at odds over the limited resources available.

The buildup by nations is already becoming obvious. One obvious item is that almost half of all combat ready F-22 fighters are already in the Pacific theatre. If there is a fight with China in the future of the United States, it will help to have the 1.3 billion people of India on our side.

  • DirecTV To Start Offering 10Mbps Internet Connection

Getting a good internet connection when you live out in the boonies has been the bane of country dwellers for years. There are options like Hughes but they are way too expensive and offer a waaay too small data cap.

Now DirecTV has announced that they will begin to offer the Exede by ViaSat and Hughes’ HughesNet Gen4 next-generation satellite broadband services in a partnership deal. The service will offer speeds up to 10 Mbps and will now make every single American eligible for a bundled internet deal.

“We look forward to offering every single DirecTV customer access to fast, affordable broadband options through DirecTV, no matter where they live,” said Oswin Eleonora, senior vice president, Emerging Markets, DirecTV. “With greatly improved capacity and speeds, satellite broadband services provided by ViaSat and Hughes will fully support our customers’ connected home experience, enabling them to access a host of features like YouTube, Pandora, social TV apps, and more than 7,000 VOD titles.”

So now the issue becomes: What are the data caps, and how much is any decent amount of data going to run? On it’s own On its own, Exede comes in three data-capped tiers of 7.5GB, 15GB, and 25GB, priced at $49.99, $79.99, and $129.99, respectively. So look for it to be at least cheaper than that.
