    The Modern Family star debuted her dramatically darker hair in recent days, and it’s a very intriguing change.


    Sarah Hyland has long sported ombre blonde tresses, making the difference a big one. She underwent the change for her upcoming Dirty Dancing role.

    Nikki Lee of Nine One Zero Salon in L.A. spoke to Teen Vogue about exactly how she darkened Sarah Hyland’s hair.

    “We created a beautiful dark truffle color for Sarah,” she said. “We wanted her hair to look almost black when she’s inside, but once she steps outside, to have a rich warmth to it.”

    Sarah Hyland debuted her new hair color at the 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday.

  • Sarah Hyland Joins Cast Of ‘Dirty Dancing,’ ABC Announces TV Remake Of 80s Classic Movie

    Sarah Hyland has been selected as one of the supporting cast members of the TV reboot of the 1987 romantic drama film, Dirty Dancing. She is due to play the role of Lisa Houseman, Baby’s pretty and extroverted older sister who longs for her father to give her the same attention he gives Baby.

    The three-hour remake by ABC has already cast most of its main characters, including Abigail Breslin who will play the lead role, Baby; Debra Messing as Baby and Lisa’s mom, Marjorie Houseman; and Colt Prattes as the charismatic dance instructor, Johnny – the role famously played by the late Patrick Swayze. That leaves the part of Dr. Houseman as one of the few remaining ones that have yet to be cast.

    This is not Hyland’s first stint playing an older sister as she plays one in the hit ABC comedy, Modern Family. The 25-year-old actress plays Haley Dunphy, the independent and quite ditzy eldest child of Phil and Claire Dunphy, and also sister to Alex and Luke. Like Lisa Houseman who is more concerned about her shoe collection than world hunger, Haley Dunphy is also rather superficial with her constant worrying over whether she is popular enough at school.

    Like the original 1987 film, the Dirty Dancing remake is set in the 1960s and focuses on the story of a young woman named Baby, who goes on vacation with the rest of her affluent family in the Catskills and falls in love with the resort’s working-class dance instructor, Johnny Castle.

    Aside from Sarah Hyland, actress and singer Nicole Scherzinger has also been set to star in the reboot.

    Over the weekend, Sarah Hyland was seen attending Elton John’s annual Oscars viewing party with her boyfriend, Dominic Sherwood. She looked stunning in a sparkly silver gown with a plunging neckline, which she accessorized with equally sparkly jewels.

    Sarah Hyland has joined the cast of ABC’s reboot of the 1987 classic chic flic Dirty Dancing

    According to Entertainment Weekly, the 25-year-old Modern Family actress will take on the role of Lisa Houseman, the sister of Frances “Baby” Houseman, who was played by Jennifer Grey in the original.

    Lisa is Baby’s extroverted older sister, who was originally played by Jane Brucker.

    For those who need a reminder of the plot, Baby, Lisa (Sarah Hyland) and her family are vacationing with her family in the Catskills at the Kellerman’s resort in the 1960s and their world is rocked by a group of ever-so-sexy dancers. In the story, Lisa gets cheated on by a womanizing waiter.

    An air date has not yet been set for the televised musical event, but casting news has been coming out fast and furious as the project comes together.

    Nicole Scherzinger has been cast as Penny, Debra Messing as Baby and Lisa’s mom, Colt Prattes as Johnny Castle (portrayed by Patrick Swayze in the original) and Abigail Breslin as Frances “Baby” Houseman.

    According to UPI, The Sapphires director Wayne Blair will direct the made for TV reboot, while Glee music producers Adam Anders and Peer Astrom will oversee the music. Anders and Crazy Heart producer Jody Cairo will serve as co-producers.

    Rachel McAdams is one of the first names mentioned when those reporting from the SAG Awards on Saturday dish about the best-dressed ladies. Wearing a nude gown with a black embellished overlay, McAdams looked like she wasn’t wearing much at all–until you looked a bit closer. The Elie Saab gown was the perfect choice for the pretty actress. Called “a dress of a thousand intricacies,” it’s not so different from Rachel McAdams herself.

    The slight of hand–or dress, as the case was–wasn’t the only way Rachel McAdams stunned the audience at the SAG Awards. The film in which she stars–Spotlight–was awarded the Outstanding Performance by a Cast award.

    Despite her film’s win and her stunning appearance, Rachel McAdams lost out on another award for which she was nominated. Alicia Vikander instead took home the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor for her role in The Danish Girl. In addition to McAdams and Vikander, Kate Winslet, Rooney Mara, and Helen Mirren were also nominated for the award.

    Alas Rachel McAdams isn’t the sole winner in the SAG Awards best-dressed category. She is among a stunning group of winners, however, including Sofia Vergara, Sarah Hyland, Christina Hendricks, and more.

    Ariel Winter and Sarah Hyland are as close as sisters, and that’s no wonder. The two have played sisters on Modern Family since it first aired in 2009. Sarah Hyland plays the role of Haley Dunphy, with Ariel Winter in the role of Alex Dunphy.

  • Sarah Hyland Shares “Star Wars” Excitement–and A Kiss

    Sarah Hyland of Modern Family fame walked the red carpet at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Hollywood premiere Monday night. She shared her excitement about the film on the red carpet–and she also shared a kiss with boyfriend Dominic Sherwood.

    “I love Star Wars,” Sarah Hyland, 25, said while chatting with People magazine at the premiere. “I was introduced to it early on, so I don’t even remember exactly how old I was. I’m a fan of the originals though. They are my favorite.”

    “Carrie Fisher for me was carrying the torch from Katharine Hepburn on into the generation that I grew up watching,” she continued. “I love, love, love women like that. She’s a kick in the pants, man – still to this day. I love her so much. I love people like Debbie Reynolds and Katharine Hepburn and Audrey Hepburn and all those fantastic women. I think Carrie Fisher’s just a part of that as well. I just think it’s so great.”

    As for Dominic Sherwood, he’s a fan, but not as big a Star Wars fan as Sarah Hyland.

    “I wouldn’t camp out. I’m not that guy,” he said. “But I’m definitely not a casual fan. You could ask me stuff and I would know, but I’m definitely not the crazy, trying to build my own lightsaber at home fan.”

    Sarah Hyland and Dominic Sherwood confirmed their relationship back in March. The two are living together, and Hyland is getting into the Christmas spirit.

    “I’ll go out and do something and the whole house looks like a Christmas festival,” Sherwood said, while Hyland added that her living room is “kind of a winter wonderland” right now.

    “I have, like, a flocked Christmas tree. It’s all like silver and white and lavender. It’s an interesting, different take on Christmas, but I like it,” she added.

    Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello are now officially husband and wife!

    The eye-candy couple said “I do” at The Breakers Palm Beach resort in Florida on Sunday, surrounded by nearly 400 of their close family and friends, including Sofia’s Modern Family castmates.

    The 43-year-old actress’ son, Manolo, walked his mother down the aisle to marry her 38-year-old fiancé, who wore a John Varvatos tux.

    According to People magazine, Vergara looked like a princess wearing “a white strapless silk-tulle dress with a sweetheart neckline and hand-embroidered 3D embellishments on the bodice. A pearl beaded belt highlighted her waist, and a huge detachable skirt brought the drama. She finished her sparkly look with Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings to the tune of 55 carats, plus more diamonds by the designer in her hair and on her wrist.”

    Modern Family castmates Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ty Burell, Julie Bowen, Ed O’Neill, Ariel Winter, and Sarah Hyland were on hand to wish their friends well. Other celebrity guests included her Hot Pursuit co-star Reese Witherspoon, his Magic Mike co-star Channing Tatum and wife Jenna Dewan, True Blood‘s Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Harvey Weinstein, Georgina Chapman, Roselyn Sanchez and more were also in attendance.

    According to CBS News, the guests were asked to check their cellphones and cameras into a security table prior to entering the wedding venue.

    The ceremony was the culmination of a weekend-long event that included parties, a rehearsal dinner at The Brazilian Court Hotels’ Café Boulud, followed by a dessert party back at the Breakers that lasted into the wee hours of the morning on Saturday.

    In lieu of gifts, the couple has requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

    This is Sofia Vergara’s second marriage and the first for Joe Manganiello.

    Sofia Vergara is getting married to Joe Manganiello today in Palm Beach, Florida. Saturday night found the entire wedding party gathered for a rehearsal dinner and celebration.

    Part of that celebration turned incredibly sweet when Manganiello serenaded his bride-to-be. The Magic Mike XXL star sang “Sweet Child of Mine” to Sofia Vergara.

    A source tells Us Weekly of the obvious love between Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello on the night before their wedding.

    “As he sang, Sofia threw her arms up in the air and screamed as she approached the stage,” the source says. “Joe crouched down to meet her gaze and said, ‘Te amo,’ into the microphone. Sofia grabbed his neck and they kissed a dozen times. Then Joe jumped off the stage and they continued kissing and embraced.”

    Several of Sofia Vergara’s Modern Family costars were in attendance at the night-before festivities. Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland, Dominic Sherwood, Eric Stonestreet, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson celebrated along with Sofia and Joe on their last evening as singles.

    Joe Manganiello’s Magic Mike XXL costar Channing Tatum was there with wife Jenna Dewan, too.

    Sofia Vergara was a stunning bride-to-be, wearing a form fitting white lace and mesh tea-length dress to the rehearsal dinner and party. Joe Manganiello wore a black tux. Guests had a fun evening, dancing to Latin music until the wee hours. Nothing quite compared, however, to that moment when Joe serenaded Sofia Vergara in front of the entire crowd.

    Capping off the romantic evening, Sofia Vergara shared an Instagram shot she captioned very simply.

    Sarah Hyland embarrassed herself at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday. The Modern Family star stumbled on stage en route to present an award with Skylar Astin. As she tripped, she dropped the f-bomb–and pretty much everyone heard her.

    Before falling to the stage, Sarah Hyland managed to catch herself, but not before she blurted out, “Are you f–king kidding me!”

    Immediately realizing her gaffe, she quickly covered her mouth, clearly embarrassed by both stumbling and swearing in front of the audience and viewers at home.

    When Sarah Hyland reached Astin and her mic, she tried to regain her composure.

    “I do that sometimes, guys. I’m awkward,” she said.

    The cameras quickly panned to Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson, who enjoyed quite the laugh at Sarah Hyland’s expense.

    Later that evening, Sarah took to Twitter to share her unfortunate incident–with those who didn’t already know.

    Sarah Hyland also retweeted a comment from a fan, to which she also replied.

    The 2015 Teen Choice Awards was a memorable night for Sarah Hyland who tripped and inadvertantly dropped the “f-bomb” on camera.

    The star of the Modern Family together with Pitch Perfect’s Skylar Austin were the first presenters of the August 16 event held at Galen Center, Los Angeles. The 24-year-old actress accidentally tripped while making her way on the stage.

    Hyland was clearly surprised and blurted out the f-word. Upon realizing what she had said, she covered her mouth, embarrassed.

    But Hyland was quick to own up to her clumsiness, “I do that sometimes, guys. I’m awkward.”

    Austin, her co-presenter explained that it could be “performance jitters” as they were the first presenters at the event. The young star was seemingly not at all affected by the embarrassing incident. On her Twitter, she poked fun at herself.

    The actress, despite her clumsiness, made a point about the importance of social media.

    She told FOX411 before she went on stage, “Social media for me, I think it can be open outlets to bullying, to criticism, to judgmental people but I think the great thing about it and what kids should learn to use it is for spreading the word. To be able to share things you are passionate about, share things like pictures of things that you love, of foundations you care about. I think it’s a really great outlet for kids and I think the only thing that they need to do is find their inner voice and power through social media.”

    The 2015 Teen Choice Awards was a success in general. The audience got to witness special performances from the music industry’s hottest artists including 5 Seconds of Summer, Robin Thicke, Flo Rida and Little Mix.

  • Gabrielle Union, Rob Lowe Lend Their Voices to ‘Lion King’ Spinoff

    Gabrielle Union and Rob Lowe are lending their voices for the upcoming Lion King spinoff.

    The Parks and Recreation alum and Being Mary Jane star signed on to voice Nala and Simba, respectively, in Disney Channel’s upcoming Lion King sequel TV movie and series, entitled The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar, it was announced Wednesday.

    Joining Gabrielle Union and Rob Lowe are James Earl Jones and Ernie Sabella will reprise their roles as Mufasa and Pumbaa from the classic 1994 animated Disney film. Max Charles of The Strain will voice Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala.

    The Lion Guard follows Kion, who becomes the leader of the Lion Guard, a team of animals in charge of preserving the Pride Lands.

    Kion’s best friends include Bunga (Joshua Rush), a fearless honey badger; Ono (Atticus Shaffer of The Middle), an intellectual egret; Fuli (Diamond White), a confident cheetah and Beshte (Dusan Brown), a friendly and good-spirited hippo.

    The cast also includes Khary Payton (Teen Titans) will voice Rafiki and Kevin Schon will reprise his The Lion King role as Timon. Other voice cast members include Modern Family star Sarah Hyland and All My Children‘s Eden Riegel.

    The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar with Gabrielle Union and Rob Lowe will air in November and the series will follow in early 2016 on Disney Channel and Disney Junior.

It’s only when tensions reach an all time high that someone has a brilliant idea that will send their departed brother off with great style. Sarah Hyland plays the role of Johana Burwood. She also serves as one of the film’s producers.

    E! News asked Sarah Hyland if now that she has both acted and produced, might she consider directing as well. They questioned if she might one day direct an episode of Modern Family.

    “Oh no, too much of a beast,” she said. “I don’t think I could be a director. There’s a lot that goes into it. I loved producing.”

    E! News also asked Sarah Hyland if she knew any details on Modern Family costar Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello’s upcoming wedding.

    Sarah Hyland said, “I was born with so many health issues that doctors told my mother I would never have a normal life. And she said, ‘You’re right, she won’t – but it won’t be because of her health.’”

    She added. “When my mother told me that story, it resonated with me: If I can’t have an ordinary life, I might as well have an extraordinary one. If you set your mind to something, you’ll achieve it.”

    Such great, inspirational words from Sarah Hyland. She also credits her success with being able to do what she loves.

    Sarah Hyland shared, “Happiness, I’ve learned, comes from within. I am happiest when I am doing something I love. And I love Modern Family. It’s the best job I’ve had in my 20 years as an actress. It didn’t come easily or fast or free. It took me 14 years to land a gig like this.”

    Of course, Sarah Hyland knows that happiness comes from having a great boyfriend like Dominic Sherwood to share life with.

    Since going public with their relationship in February, the Vampire Academy co-stars have been getting cozy all over the place.

    Sarah Hyland and Dominic Sherwood seemed to be close really quickly, and she says it’s because their relationship started out in “best friend” status.

    She said, “we’ve been best friends for like, two years.”

    They say that behind every strong person is an amazing story. That certainly holds true for Modern Family star Sarah Hyland.

    It would be an understatement to say that the 24-year-old has been through a lot. The Vampire Academy actress has been dealing with health issues since she was young and was also able to break free from an abusive relationship.

    She’s also on the cover of Seventeen magazine’s May issue where she talks about her inspiring life.

    Hyland’s health struggles are no secret. The Modern Family actress has been suffering from kidney dysplasia, a condition that would cause the organ to progressively deteriorate. As a result, she had a kidney transplant in 2012.

    But her health problems didn’t get in the way of her dreams. At her age, Hyland is already a veteran in the business. She has been acting since she was a child and has even appeared on the iconic TV show Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.

    Hyland’s mother seems to have a big hand in shaping her outlook.

    According to her, doctors have already warned her mother that she’ll never have a normal life because of her numerous health issues. To which her mother defiantly replied “You’re right, she won’t — but it won’t be because of her health.”

    The story is something that Hyland takes to heart.

    “If I can’t have an ordinary life, I might as well have an extraordinary one,” the actress says. And that has been her mantra ever since.

    It certainly has helped her weather not just her health problems, but also some personal ones.

    The young actress took out a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend Matt Prokop who she claims verbally and physically abused her.

    But she’s now putting the bad times behind her. Hyland is glowing these days and has been seen enjoying herself with new boyfriend and Vampire Academy co-star Dominic Sherwood.

    And to those who are pursuing their own dreams, she says “Once you have a goal, keep moving forward – even if you’re taking baby steps.”

    Such sage words from such a young star. Some of the older celebrities would be wise to take a page from her book.

  • Bella Thorne, Mae Whitman, Sarah Hyland Star in ‘The DUFF’

    Bella Thorne of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day joins Mae Whitman (Parenthood) and Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) in a hilarious new film called The DUFF. The American teen comedy also stars Alison Janney, Robbie Amell, Ken Jeong, and Bianca A. Santos. Directed by Ari Sandel, it is based on a book of the same name by Kody Keplinger.

    ‘DUFF‘ stands for ‘Designated ugly fat friend,’ and Mae Whitman takes on that persona in her role as Bianca Piper. Bella Thorne, in her role as Madison Morgan, is known as the high school’s label maker, and does all she can to reenforce the title.

    On Thursday night, Bella Thorne, Mae Whitman, Sarah Hyland, and many of their costars walked the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of The DUFF at TCL Chinese 6 Theatres. Lots of celebrities attended the event.

    Bella Thorne spoke with Newsday recently about her role as a mean girl. When told she was really mean in the film, Thorne had the following to say.

    “I know, I’m not the nicest,” she admitted.

    And when asked what it feels like to play the villain, she also admitted that while it’s fun at times, it’s not always easy.

    “It’s also a little . . . sad,” she said. “Because Mae Whitman is so cute, and I love her so much. She’s only like 5 foot and I’m 5-8, and I felt like in some scenes I was eating her. [She giggles again.] I was so in her face all the time. She was just making me laugh between takes. It was like really hard to be mean.”

    Bella Thorne, Mae Whitman, Sarah Hyland and the rest of the cast of The DUFF will soon be coming to a theater near you. The DUFF opens nationwide on February 20th.

    Sarah Hyland and her Vampire Academy co-star, Dominic Sherwood, have been spotted numerous times together and seem to be really in love!

    Sarah Hyland posted a pic to Instagram of the two of them celebrating Dominic’s birthday together recently.

    They really look happy together! Sarah Hyland had become close to Dominic Sherwood over the time that they were filming Vampire Academy.

    They seemed to be really good friends while Sarah Hyland dated Matt Prokop for five years.

    But, after Sarah Hyland broke up with Matt, things started to heat up between Sarah and Dominic as they quickly became more than friends.

    The two of them were spotted kissing at the January 15th opening of the Blind Dragon and it seems to be getting better and better for Sarah Hyland and Dominic Sherwood.

    It’s nice to see Sarah Hyland happy again as we watch her relationship progress with Dominic.

    She wasn’t so happy in her messy relationship with Matt Prokop. She had to get a restraining order against him after they broke up.

    “Matt has been bombarding her and her management team with distressed calls, texts and messages on social media” a friend of Sarah Hyland’s told Hollywood Life.

    She added, “He’s knows he shouldn’t be contacting her but he just won’t stop, saying he still loves her. He even threatened to kill himself.”

    Yikes.

    Sarah Hyland seems to have recovered from a nasty breakup with Matthew Prokop.

    Sarah Hyland was photographed kissing her Vampire Academy co-star, Dominic Sherwood on Saturday outside of a nightclub in Hollywood.

    The two of them looked very comfortable with each other. Maybe that’s because Sarah Hyland has grown close to Sherwood over their time working together.

    At the Vampire Academy premiere after party in Los Angeles last February, Sarah Hyland and Dominic Sherwood were photographed joking around and hugging.

    Sarah Hyland‘s relationship with Dominic Sherwood already seems healthier than her five year relationship with Matthew Prokop. She was granted a restraining order against Prokop in September.

    Sarah Hyland claimed that Prokop choked her, threatened to burn her house down, and “bombarded” Hyland with “vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voice mails.”
