  • Cam Newton: Carolina Panthers Quarterback Surprises Fans When Announcing New Baby’s Unusual Name

Cam Newton, quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, and his longtime girlfriend Kia Proctor, welcomed their baby boy into the world on January 30.

On Thursday, Newton surprised his fans when he announced what many will no doubt deem a very unusual name for said baby.

ESPN reporter David Newton helped Cam Newton with his big reveal, by posting an announcement on Twitter with Newton wearing his son’s name on his practice jersey.

Yes, you read that correctly. Cam Newton and Kia Proctor named their baby boy Chosen Sebastian Newton.

In a world of children named Zuma (Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale) and Rocket (Sam Worthington and Laura Bingle), Chosen isn’t all that bad. At least the child will grow up knowing he was very much wanted and–well, chosen.

David Newton went on, via Twitter, to explain the reason behind Cam Newton and Kia Proctor’s choice.

“I wanted something that would be masculine and unique,” Cam Newton said. He added he doesn’t like the idea of naming babies “Junior.”

What’s your take on Cam Newton and Kia Proctor’s choice of Chosen Sebastian Newton for their baby boy? He always has Sebastian to fall back on as an adult.

And yes, there have been far worse names.

  • Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, & Will Poulter Win MTV Best Kiss

Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, and Will Poulter won Best Kiss at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night.

Other nominees for the award included Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence for American Hustle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson for Don Jon, James Franco, Ashley Benson, and Vanessa Hudgens for Spring Breakers, and Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller for The Spectacular Now.

Aniston and Roberts didn’t attend the ceremony, which was broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. Poulter took the stage to accept the award for the trio’s kiss in We’re the Millers.

Poulter interrupted his acceptance speech to read a text message from Aniston. The message allegedly chastised him for making it sound like the two had something going offscreen:

“Hey Doucher, I’m watching this on TV. Stop telling people we’re a real thing. I was forced to kiss you. I didn’t come tonight because I thought I might have to come near you again. It’s probably best you stay in England. P.S. You look like a dorky Tintin.”

The Tintin comment probably referred to the French comic book hero who sports a full face and close cropped hair with a pompadour.

Poulter also won the Breakthrough Performance Award for his work in We’re the Millers.

Poulter has been busy since We’re the Millers, with starring roles in Glassland, Kids in Love, The Maze Runner, and Plastic. He’s also rumored to be starring in iBoy and Shoplifters of the World.

While it’s not clear why Aniston and Roberts weren’t present at the awards ceremony Sunday night, we do know that Roberts hit up Coachella this weekend with finacé Evan Peters.

Aniston is currently filming her latest project, Cake, in Los Angeles. Felicity Huffman, Anna Kendrick, William H. Macy, Chris Messina, and Sam Worthington are also slated to appear in the movie, which is set to release in 2015.

  • Avatar Is Returning For A Sequel

What is not surprising is that Zoe Saldana’s Avatar role as Neytiri has been confirmed, along with Sam Worthington’s Avatar Role as Jake Sully. What is surprising is that the sequel will be the first in an Avatar trilogy. The next Avatar release date is set for December 2016, and the sequels will follow each year in 2017 and 2018.

James Cameron, the film’s director and producer, said that Saldana and Worthington capture the essence of their characters perfectly. “Jake Sully is a rare combination of passion, strength, street smarts and soul, which requires a lot from an actor,” said Cameron in an official statement. “Sam brought to the role a combination of sensitivity, vulnerability and strength. Zoe captured every aspect of the character I envisioned, bringing to Neytiri a mix of delicacy, fierceness and incredible physicality. I am beyond pleased they’ll be returning with us to Pandora.”

Another surprise in the coming sequels is the return of Stephen Lang, who played Colonel Miles Quaritch. If you recall, Quaritch was thought to be dead in the first movie, but somehow will be making a comeback for the next three.

While there will be some new scenery in the film, Cameron says that, for the most part, the setting will remain the same as it was in the first Avatar. “It’s going to be a lot of new imagery and a lot of new environments and creatures across Pandora,” said Cameron. “We’re blowing it out all over the place. At first I thought I was going to take it onto other worlds as well, in the same solar system, but it turned out not to be necessary. I mean the Pandora that we have imagined will be a fantasy land that is going to occupy people for decades to come, the way I see it. There are underwater scenes and surface-water scenes having to do with indigenous ocean cultures that are distributed across the three films.”

  • Zoë Saldana, Sam Worthington To Star In Next Three ‘Avatar’ Sequels

The sequels to the 2009 Blockbuster film Avatar are officially in motion, and the film’s stars Zoë Saldana and Sam Worthington are back onboard!

E! News confirms Saldana and Worthington will reprise the starring roles of Neytiri and Jake Sully in the next three installments of the Avatar film series. The publication also reports that the film’s director James Cameron will be filming the sequels back-to-back with projected annual release dates for three consecutive years in a row.

The second installment of the epic science fiction action film is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide in December 2016. The third installment will be released the following year in December 2017, with the fourth to be released right after in December 2018.

Cameron recently discussed the distinct similarities and variations of Saldana and Worthington’s characters, also expressing his gratification of the two returning for the upcoming sequels. “Jake Sully is a rare combination of passion, strength, street smarts and soul, which requires a lot from an actor. Sam brought to the role a combination of sensitivity, vulnerability and strength,” Cameron explained.

“Zoë captured every aspect of the character I envisioned, bringing to Neytiri a mix of delicacy, fierceness and incredible physicality. I am beyond pleased they’ll be returning with us to Pandora.”

The direction and production of the Avatar sequels will be a collaborative effort between Cameron and his producing partner Jon Landau. An A-list team of screenwriters have also been incorporated to develop the scripts for each film.

The notable screenwriters include War of the Worlds‘ Josh Friedman, Rise of the Planet of the Apes‘ Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver and Savages‘ Shane Salerno. All three screenwriters have lauded success with the development of science fiction and thriller-themed scripts.

Avatar is still considered the highest-grossing film of all time at the box office with a worldwide total of $2,782,275,172. Due to the success of the first installment, the highly anticipated sequels are definitely expected to meet or exceed expectations. Although the amazing feat will be quite challenging to top, there’s no doubt that the possibilities are endless.

  • Zoe Saldana And Sam Worthington Sign On For Three Avatar Sequels

James Cameron talked about the idea of making sequels shortly after his huge hit film Avatar came out in 2009. The film earned an Oscar for Best Picture, and was a groundbreaking film in terms of the way that it was made.

As a result, it was announced recently that the team was planning for more films, and a total of three more are slated for release.

The film’s stars, Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington, have now signed on for the sequels, and will reprise their roles of Neytiri and Jake Sully, respectively.

While most details on the plot of the film are being kept secret until the film is released, it has been revealed that Zoe Saldana’s character will have had kids with Jake by the start of the next film.

The sequels are expected to be released back to back to back starting in December of 2016, giving fans something to look forward to for a long time. The exciting story will continue on the distant planet of Pandora in more than two years, but fans are able to get excited for the following installments already.

James Cameron is excited to bring back the two stars of the first Avatar and spoke highly of Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington when saying “Sam brought to the role a combination of sensitivity, vulnerability and strength. Zoe captured every aspect of the character I envisioned, bringing to Neytiri a mix of delicacy, fierceness and incredible physicality. I am beyond pleased they’ll be returning with us to Pandora.”

Stephen Lang, who played the Marine Colonel who went crazy in the first film and eventually died, was the first actor to sign on for the sequels. Cameron has yet to reveal how he will be able to resurrect him, which should make for an interesting plot twist in the next film.

Cameron will direct and produce the Avatar films alongside his producing partner Jon Landau. The sequels clearly have big shoes to fill in popularity as the original Avatar is still the highest-grossing film at the box office of all time.

Should more Avatar films be made? How do other fans feel about the upcoming films? Comment with your thoughts.

Since starring in Avatar in 2009, Zoe Saldana has appeared in a handful of films, and is set to appear in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy next. She was also recently cast in NBC’s Rosemary’s Baby miniseries and will likely reprise her role in the next Star Trek film, which is set for a release of 2016.
