  • Ronda Rousey Won’t Be Fighting For A While As She Works Out Film Schedule

Ronda Rousey was expected by many to resume her fighting schedule this summer, after taking a lengthy break following her stunning defeat at the hands of Holly Holm late last year. Now, it looks like she’ll take more time off than originally planned in order to work out her filming schedule.

Rousey, who has long balanced fighting with a movie career, will be starring in the Roadhouse remake. Filming has been pushed back, according to UFC President Dana White, and Rousey wants time to focus on just one thing.

“The filming of the movie got pushed back. She could do both, but the question is, should she do both? She could do both, but why should she? The filming is in a time frame where she’d finish before 200, but it would be cutting it too close,” White said.

UFC 200, which will take place in July, has been the expected return date for Rousey after Holly Holm said she wanted a rematch. However, Holm will now fight Rousey’s archenemy Miesha Tate in March, which puts a new spin on things. If Tate wins that match, it’s unclear weather White will still pursue a rematch between Holm and Rousey.

Holm said soon after her win that she thought a rematch “made sense” for the two women. Fans have been eager to see what would happen when the pair get back in the cage together after the shocking defeat, which was Rousey’s first in an unbroken career.

“I think a rematch makes sense for sure. I’ve been on the losing side of a fight and I wanted the rematch, I wanted to avenge my loss. With a champion like Ronda – who has gone out of her way, above and beyond, to do great things – absolutely she deserves a rematch. I don’t look at this belt and think I’ve made it. I think I still have things that I need to do. I think a rematch, I think that’s kind of unspoken common sense to me,” Holm said.

Rousey disappeared from social media and from the public eye immediately after the fight, but recently began to appear more and more in the spotlight. She shared a photo on Instagram from a Sports Illustrated photo shoot, in which she’ll appear in nothing but body paint for the swimsuit issue.

  • Ronda Rousey to Try Hand at Comedy, Hosting Upcoming Episode of “SNL”

Ronda Rousey didn’t find anything funny about her stunning upset in November to Holly Holm. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t have some comedy in her, however. On January 23, Rousey will host an episode of SNL. Do you think she has enough funny in her for that?

The L.A. Times reports the previously unbeaten Ronda Rousey lost in a second-round knockout to Holly Holm in Australia. Since then, Rousey has been pretty much in seclusion, save for one post-fight interview.

Ronda Rousey joins a long list of athletes who has hosted SNL, including Tom Brady, Derek Jeter, LeBron James, Peyton Manning, and George Foreman. She is the first MMA fighter to host Saturday Night Live, however.

Even though she has yet to try out her comedy chops, that doesn’t mean Ronda Rousey is a TV or film novice. She made cameo appearances in Entourage, Furious 7, and The Expendables 3.

Joining Ronda Rousey on the January 23 episode of SNL is musical guest Selena Gomez.

  • Ronda Rousey Up For Female Athlete Of The Year

Ronda Rousey is among a group of strong, talented women who are nominated for the Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year Award.

The UFC fighter–who is taking a break from the cage after her first loss back in November–is up against U.S. soccer player Carli Lloyd and Serena Williams, and the winner will be announced on Friday. For Rousey, the nomination comes at just the right time.

“Ronda Rousey has become the biggest star in mixed martial arts and a global celebrity, even as she ended a tumultuous year without her title belt. Rousey won two fights in a combined 48 seconds early in 2015 before losing to Holly Holm last month in one of the biggest upsets in recent sports history. After Rousey’s meteoric ascent and jarring fall in between her acting jobs and provocative interviews, the sports world waits to see whether an athlete who once seemed invincible can win back her title,” writes Associated Press writer Greg Beacham.

Rousey has had a rough year after seeing her career rise so quickly; aside from the huge upset during her match with Holly Holm, the former champ has battled rumors and speculation about her boyfriend, who was accused of domestic abuse by his ex. Rousey recently gave an interview to ESPN about her loss and about her beau, fellow fighter Todd Browne, and said that she believes him when he says he’s innocent, despite what everyone else thinks.

“It’s hard, it’s really hard. I’m very anti-domestic violence. But I know that he didn’t do anything. Now I’m put in this situation where I’m finally happy with somebody that respects me and cares about me, and I’m like, ‘What do I do?’ At the end of the day, I can’t curl up with people’s opinions,” Rousey said.

For now, Ronda is taking time off and enjoying an anonymous life wherever she can get it; the high-profile fighter and actress recently posted a photo on Instagram of herself dressed as a storm trooper for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiere.

About last night…. Star Wars was awesome …. I'm a little short for a stormtrooper….

  • Caitlyn Jenner Receives Barbara Walters’ Top Honor, Walters Rocks Leather Pants at 86

Caitlyn Jenner was named Barbara Walters’ Most Fascinating Person of 2015. Walters hailed the former Bruce Jenner as a “symbol of hope for the transgender community.” She made the announcement on her annual 10 Most Fascinating People special that aired last week.

“Our choice for the most fascinating person of the year was once called the world’s greatest athlete,” Walters, who is 86, began. “Traditionally that title was given to the man who won the Olympic decathlon. When Bruce Jenner won it in 1976, it was a huge accomplishment that had everybody talking. But it was nothing like this. When Bruce Jenner became Caitlyn Jenner, there was a seismic shift in the gender universe.”

Her “celebrity has helped launch a national discussion about transgender rights,” Walters explained as video highlights from Caitlyn’s year appeared on the screen. “She has become a champion for the transgender community, raising awareness and advocating for acceptance.”

“Famous and familiar, she raised awareness and acceptance of transgendered people,” she continued. “Through her own transformation, Caitlyn Jenner transformed society this year, and that, for us, makes her the most fascinating person of 2015.”

Caitlyn Jenner topped a list of nine additional “fascinating people,” including Amy Schumer, Misty Copeland, Bradley Cooper, Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Ronda Rousey, Donna Karan, and Tracy Morgan.

Not everyone was thrilled about Caitlyn Jenner’s top spot on Barbara Walters’ list. Equally as disturbing to some were the black leather pants the 86-year-old wore on the show.

The leather pants were different, that’s for sure, but Barbara Walters managed to pull the look off with grace–even with countless viewers likely doing a double take and asking, “Is Barbara Walters wearing leather pants?”

What’s your take on Caitlyn Jenner topping Barbara Walters’ annual list?

And what did you think of Babs rocking those leather pants?

  • Ronda Rousey Goes On A Date With A Military Man, Attends Marine Corps Ball

UFC superstar Ronda Rousey fulfilled her promise to accompany a marine who asked her to be his date to a Marine Corps Ball in South Carolina.

Jarrod Haschert, 22, a marine from South Carolina, invited Rousey to be his date in a video he posted on Facebook. The video, which went viral with more than four million views in August, said, “You are my celebrity crush. I love everything that you do, and I think that you are a phenomenal person which is why it would be my honour to take you to the Marine Corps Ball on December 11.”

Ronda Rousey Gets Invited to the Marine Corps Ball

“I really hope this doesn’t get in the way of your training. I hope you take this into consideration, because if you do, you will truly be making my dream come true,” the young marine continued.

His wish did come true! Haschert, in full uniform, flashed a big smile as he posed for a snap with his “celebrity crush,” who came to the ball in black dress.

According to a source, Rousey never hesitated about whether she was going to attend the ball. The former UFC queen was also thankful that she got invited to the event. Rousey said it was an “honor” to be invited to a ball.

“Honestly I probably would stay on my couch crying and eating ice cream for another month if he didn’t ask me,” Rousey, who lost to Holly Holm in their UFC title match in Australia told TMZ .

For the first time after her epic fight, she spoke about her defeat to Holm, saying she was devastated about the outcome of the match, but she is not backing down and that she needs to get back in the arena to beat the new UFC women’s champion.

  • Ronda Rousey Opens Up About Boyfriend’s Alleged Abusive Past

Ronda Rousey took several weeks away from the spotlight after her shocking defeat at the hands of Holly Holm in Australia last month, but she recently gave an interview to ESPN and opened up about the fight, the aftermath, and her relationship with fellow fighter Travis Browne…a topic she has strictly avoided in the past.

The former UFC champ spoke a bit about her time with Browne, saying he makes her feel safe in a world where the spotlight is almost constantly trained on her, looking for weaknesses. He’s the boyfriend who makes her breakfast and lets her sleep in when she needs it most, she says. So when his ex, Jenna Renee Webb, accused him of domestic violence earlier this year–via Twitter–Rousey was at a loss as to what to do.

“It’s hard, it’s really hard. I’m very anti-domestic violence. But I know that he didn’t do anything. Now I’m put in this situation where I’m finally happy with somebody that respects me and cares about me, and I’m like, ‘What do I do?’” Rousey says in the interview. “At the end of the day, I can’t curl up with people’s opinions. Even when everyone thinks the world of me, I still go to bed anxious and freaking out because I’m afraid of everything. The only time I’ve gotten a reprieve from that feeling in my life is since I’ve been with him.”

Browne has always denied the abuse allegations, and an investigation into the claims by the UFC proved inconclusive of any wrongdoing. For Ronda, the controversial decision to stand by Browne was compounded by the reaction she got from Webb, who said Rousey would see his “true colors” soon enough.

“Why can’t people have some confidence or trust in me that I would make a good decision and be with a good man regardless of how it looks?” Rousey said.

Ronda took some time off after her loss to Holm and went on a hunting trip with Browne, staying off social media other than to assure fans immediately after the fight that she was okay. The match was a shocking upset for just about everyone, Rousey included. Afterward, she says, she was embarrassed and was left to nurse injuries inflicted by Holm’s kick to the face. Now, the women are facing a rematch put together by UFC President Dana White, but it’s unclear when exactly it will happen. For now, Ronda Rousey is healing.

  • Holly Holm Reveals Biggest Concern About Rematch With Ronda Rousey

Holly Holm isn’t much for celebrating victory – she’s all about business and fighting again.

The UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion is keen on stepping into the Octagon again, but with Rousey’s current injuries, a rematch within the next couple of months is not likely to happen.

In a recent interview of UFC president Dana White by the Los Angeles Times, it was revealed that a Holly Holm-Ronda Rousey rematch is definitely in the cards at UFC 200, which is scheduled in July of 2016.

Unfortunately, Holly Holm does not approve of waiting that long to defend her title. During a Q&A session with fans on Friday, Holm stated that she would rather fight “sooner than later” and that waiting until UFC 200 to fight again is an awfully long time. “I don’t like to sit on the sidelines, but we’ll see what happens,” Holly Holm said.

After decidedly defeating former champion and crowd favorite Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 last month in Melbourne, Holly Holm has turned into a celebrity overnight. Her confident and calculated execution of Rousey’s fall, as well as Rousey’s promise to redeem herself after her recovery has gotten UFC fans excited about their rematch.

Holly Holm’s camp reportedly proposed an interim title bout against two-time Rousey foe Miesha Tate, but was turned down by Dana White. Tate was actually slated to face Rousey in UFC 193 when the organization changed its mind and picked Holm instead.

After a series of meetings with UFC officials this week, Tate expressed her disappointment over being rejected for a title shot again, but said that she is still hopeful that she will get an opportunity to fight either Holly Holm or Ronda Rousey.

Miesha Tate Expresses Frustration Over Being Passed Over For Holly Holm At UFC 193

“I believe I will get my title shot eventually,” added Tate.

Meanwhile, Holly Holm’s manager Lenny Fresquez is still pushing for a match with Tate as he doesn’t believe that Rousey will make a complete recovery in time for a rematch with Holly Holm on July 9th.

  • Ronda Rousey Calls Marine Corps Ball Date a “Real Gentleman” and “Real Sweetheart,” But They Didn’t Dance

Ronda Rousey accepted a Facebook invite to the Marine Corps Ball from Marine Lance Cpl. Jarrod Haschert, and she attended the event on Friday. The UFC fighter had nothing but wonderful things to say about the young man.

“He was a real gentleman and a real sweetheart,” she told TMZ of her dat. “It was the only smiling I’ve been doing, I think.”

While most would expect the two likely danced the night away–that couldn’t be further from the truth.

“I don’t dance in public,” Ronda Rousey said upon her return home to L.A. on Saturday.

Ronda Rousey accepted the young Marine’s invite via Facebook in which he said she was his celebrity crush. He even called her a “phenomenal person.”

Following the Marine Corps Ball, she says she expects the two will stay in touch.

“I told him that I would be personally offended if he ever came in town and didn’t hit me up,” she said.

This was the first outing for Ronda Rousey since she was defeated by Holly Holm. She has been staying at home nursing her wounds.

“Honestly, I probably would stay on my couch crying and eating ice cream for like another month if he didn’t ask me to go,” she said prior to attended the ball on Friday evening.

Kudos to Ronda Rousey for accepting Marine Lance Cpl. Jarrod Haschert’s invitation. She likely made this young man’s dream come true.

  • Ronda Rousey Makes Good on Promise, Attends Marine Corps Ball

Ronda Rousey made good on her promise Friday night when she attended the Marine Corps Ball with a Marine who invited her to be his guest back in August. Many expected that in the wake of her loss to Holly Holm that the UFC fighter might not show. Ronda Rousey has been taking it easy since the knockout, recovering from her injuries.

Despite those injuries, however, Ronda Rousey was stunning at the Marine Corps Ball in a loose-fitting black formal gown. She shared a photo of herself along with her handsome date on Instagram.

“Thank you Lance Cpl. Jarrod Haschert for taking me to the Marine Corps Ball, being such a gentleman, and putting a smile on my face again ??” she captioned it.

A photo posted by rondarousey (@rondarousey) on

Ronda Rousey recently told TMZ that this has been her “worst month ever.”

The UFC fighter posed for pictures with her date, and appeared to be having a wonderful time.

Prior to the Marine Corps Ball on Friday, Ronda Rousey admitted getting out for the event would probably be good for her.

She added that it was “an honor to be asked and honestly, I probably would stay on my couch crying and eating ice cream for like another month if he didn’t ask me to go.”

Seeing Ronda Rousey’s broad smile–in addition to that of her date–is a clear indication that both parties involved had a spectacular time.

Can you imagine the stories Lance Cpl. Jarrod Haschert will tell in the years to come? After all, who gets to take Ronda Rousey to the Marine Corps Ball?

    This guy did.

  • Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm Rematch Set For July

Ronda Rousey will have another go at Holly Holm to regain her title and her honor after last month’s shocking knock out.

Ronda Rousey was admittedly really beat up after the shorter-than-expected bout.

In fact, Ronda Rousey’s description of the days following the fight leads one to believe that she may not be ready by July.

In an interview with ESPN, Ronda Rousey said of those days, “First I was so sick I couldn’t eat anything…Physically, my body was refusing its own failures. It was, like, sick of itself. Expelling itself. Like all the skin came off my face. My whole body flushed it out.”

Ronda Rousey then admitted that it’ll take her “three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact.”

Is July far enough in the future for Ronda Rousey to be back to her full potential? UFC President Dana White, who made the announcement, thinks so.

Best feeling in the world. Still trying to process and take it all in. There aren't enough words to express what I am feeling. Thank you @ufc for the opportunity and most of all thank you to my team for believing in me. All the hours in the gym and all the years of dedication to help me get to this moment. This is a priceless moment and I could not have done this on my own. @mmacoachwink its been 17 years and one hell of a ride. Let's see where it goes from here! Greg Jackson and @izzystylewrestling … My transition to mma would not be possible without you. All of the coaching and teammates @jacksonwink_mma …… You are my family and love you all so much! I only hope to make you proud and be a good champion. And to all of my fans….. I would not be able to live the dream without you. Much love to you all!! Big hugs to everyone! #ANDNEW

Holm’s manager, Lenny Fresquez, isn’t so sure.

He told The LA Times after the announcement, “I’m not sure Ronda will be ready for a July fight. She took a severe beating and I don’t think it’s in her best interest to take the next fight so fast. They told me she’s been ready and cleared, but … .”

He added that Holly would wait for Ronda Rousey if she wanted more time to heal. His suggested alternative? A match between Holly and heavy-hitting top ranked contender Meisha Tate to keep her skills up.

He said, “Holly’s used to staying active. We’re from the old school and we believe the No. 1 contender is there for a reason. … [Tate] deserves a shot, but it’s not for me to decide.”

Dana White, when told of Fresquez’s reservations, scoffed and sarcastically said, “We’re real concerned with his opinion.”

Sounds like an amazing rematch for Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm and it’s sure to be a widely watched event!

What do you think about such a quick rematch for Ronda Rousey? Do you think she’ll be at her best?

  • Ronda Rousey Gets Rematch With Holly Holm, Shares PDA With Boyfriend

Ronda Rousey took a serious beating last month in the shocking upset defeat to Holly Holm.

In fact, in an interview with ESPN, Ronda Rousey explained just how bad the injuries were for her. Especially that match-ending kick to the face.

Ronda Rousey admitted that the next few days were really rough, saying, “I kind of just slept a lot and ate fast food. First I was so sick I couldn’t eat anything…Physically, my body was refusing its own failures.”

She continued, “It was, like, sick of itself. Expelling itself. Like all the skin came off my face. My whole body flushed it out.”

Ronda Rousey added that it’ll take her “three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact.”

Well, Ronda Rousey better get strong soon, because her anticipated rematch with Holly Holm has just been announced for July 9th at a new arena in Las Vegas.

So, Ronda Rousey is busy mending and it seems she’s getting plenty of help from her beau, Travis Browne.

Ronda Rousey was spotted tangled in some serious PDA with Browne on Thursday as the UFC lovebirds left the gym.

But, will love and support be enough to fuel Ronda Rousey into defeating her opponent in July?

It may be that Ronda Rousey only needs her own anger and drive for this match.

Ronda Rousey said to ESPN, “I need to come back. I need to beat this chick. Who knows if I’m going to pop my teeth out or break my jaw or rip my lip open again. I have to f—ing do it. It doesn’t matter. I have to do it.”

She added, “I always say you have to be willing to get your heart broken. That’s just what f—ing happens when you try.”

She also spoke of her future, saying, “I guess it’s all going to be determined by what happens in the rematch. Everything is going to be determined by that. Either I’ll win and keep going or I won’t and I’ll be done with everything.”

Wow. Those are some serious stakes! What do you think will be the outcome of the rematch between Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm?

  • Ronda Rousey To Get Rematch, But Miesha Tate Might Get To Holm First

Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm are both desperate for a rematch with one another after Holm’s defeat of the former UFC champ in November, but there’s a chance Miesha Tate will get to Holm while Rousey is recovering.

Rousey said in a recent ESPN interview that she was “embarrassed” after her loss because of her unusually wild fighting style. She talked about her injuries as well, saying that Holm’s kick to the face did extensive damage to her teeth.

“It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact,” Rousey said.

That’s a lot of time out of the cage, particularly for a fighter who was–until that match–at the top of her undefeated game. And while a rematch is in the works, Holly Holm’s manager, Lenny Fresquez, says he’d like to see Holm go up against Rousey’s former adversary Miesha Tate.

“I’m not sure Ronda will be ready for a July fight. She took a severe beating, and I don’t think it’s in her best interest to take the next fight so fast. Holly’s used to staying active. We’re from the old school, and we believe the No. 1 contender is there for a reason. Tate deserves a shot, but it’s not for me to decide,” Fresquez told the New York Times.

Ronda Rousey took time off after the fight, all but disappearing other than to reassure fans on social media immediately after the match that she was okay. In her first series of interviews since, she talks about what went wrong, saying her mind was clouded.

“I wasn’t thinking clearly. I had that huge cut in my mouth, and I just spit [the blood] out at my feet. Then they brought the bucket over, and I’m like, ‘Why didn’t I spit it in the bucket?’ I never spit on the ground. It was like a dumbed-down, dreamy version of yourself making decisions. … I was just trying to shake myself out of it. I kept saying to myself, ‘You’re OK, keep fighting. You’re OK, keep fighting.’” Rousey said.

  • Holly Holm Vs. Ronda Rousey Rematch May Happen At UFC 200

New UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Holly Holm may have won against former crowd favorite Ronda Rousey at UFC 193, but it looks like Ronda will not let her get away with it.

The 28-year-old MMA fighter and actress has vowed that she will beat Holm in a rematch.

“I need to come back. I need to beat this chick,” she said in an interview with ESPN.

Rousey also said that she was “crushed” and “embarrassed” by her second-round knockout. She missed the post-fight interview and had to be taken to a hospital to treat her injuries.

Recalling some moments during the fight, Rousey said that Holly Holm successfully shook her in the first round, and that she wasn’t thinking clearly for most of the fight because of that. “I just feel so embarrassed. How I fought after that is such an embarrassing representation of myself. I wasn’t even f****** there,” the Furious 7 actress said.

Despite the loss, however, Rousey is determined to get her revenge no matter what it takes, whether it means “popping her teeth out or breaking her jaw or ripping her lip open.” UFC promotion president Dana White has already called for an immediate rematch between Ronda and Holly as soon as the judoka is prepared to face Holly Holm.

Unfortunately, Rousey said that if she loses the rematch, then she would probably quit MMA for good.

“Either I’ll win and keep going or I won’t and I’ll be done with everything,” the Olympic bronze medalist said.

Meanwhile, reports claim that Holly Holm could be taking on another opponent for her first title defense.

Holm’s manager Lenny Fresquez  said in an interview that UFC presented a prospect fight at UFC 200 in Las Vegas in July. Fresquez believes Rousey may not be prepared for a fight that soon, so Holm could face another fighter in the meantime.

While Holly Holm maintains a clean 10-0 win-loss record, everything could change if she loses her first title defense, especially if it’s someone other than Ronda Rousey.

  • Ronda Rousey Reveals Extent Of Injuries From Holm Fight, Including To Teeth

Ronda Rousey gave a very personal interview to ESPN The Magazine recently–her first since she was defeated in the shocking Australia match by Holly Holm–and revealed the extent of her injuries resulting from Holm’s kick to the face.

Rousey has taken a break since the November 14 fight, disappearing from social media outside of one post immediately following the match when she reassured fans she was okay and would be back. While some assumed Ronda was licking her wounds after being beaten for the first time, Rousey now says she was simply taking time to recover. The former UFC champ says that the kick to the face–which knocked her out and reportedly required stitches to a split lip–affected her teeth the most.

“It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact,” Rousey says in the interview.

The break wasn’t entirely due to the need for recovery, however. Rousey had announced a plan to take time off before the match even happened, and was looking forward to working on some of her other projects. While her immediate future is uncertain, Rousey is still the woman UFC President Dana White said he might have to start pitting against men not that long ago.

“She’s gonna have to start fighting men if she walks through Cat Zingano,” White said of Rousey’s February 28 match. “If Ronda Rousey walks through Cat Zingano the way she has walked through every body else, I don’t know what to do with her.”

There’s no doubt she’ll make it back to the cage soon, and it may even be in a rematch against Holly Holm; White said last week that he will make that happen as soon as Rousey is ready.

“Maybe I can’t do it all before my prime, before my body is done. But f**k it, maybe I can,” Rousey says in the new interview. The issue is due out on newsstands today.

  • Holly Holm, Ronda Rousey Rematch Will Happen Says UFC Head

According to the president of the UFC, a rematch between Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm is most certainly going to happen.

“I think that if we didn’t make the rematch, me and (UFC CEO) Lorenzo (Fertitta) should probably lose our promoters’ license … Yeah, that fight’s going to happen. I don’t know when, but that’s the fight that will happen,” UFC president Dana White said on ESPN radio’s Mike and Mike.

Last month, Holly Holm shocked the fighting world when she handed Ronda Rousey her first loss in stunning fashion – a brutal knockout via kick to the face,

Shortly after the loss, Rousey took to Instagram to announce that she’d be taking some time, but she’d be back.

“I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support. I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I’m fine. As I had mentioned before, I’m going to take a little bit of time, but I’ll be back,” Rousey wrote.

Rousey hasn’t publicly commented on a rematch.

As for Holm, she’s already said that she’s up for a rematch.

“Oh, I welcome it. I’ve been on the other end of losing a bout before, getting knocked out and having to come back – I did avenge my loss. And I know that she’ll be wanting to do the same, so I’ll have to train twice as hard. You know, she’ll be coming back. She’s a competitive person, and we all know that. She’ll be coming back hard,” she said.

Best feeling in the world. Still trying to process and take it all in. There aren't enough words to express what I am feeling. • Amy Schumer Makes Barbara Walters’ 2015 Most Fascinating People List

Amy Schumer has definitely had a fulfilling year. She’s ending it with quite an honor, too. When Barbara Walters announced her list of 2015’s Most Fascinating People, Schumer made the cut.

In addition to her comedy sketches that are raunchy but hilarious, Amy Schumer hit the big screen this year with Trainwreck. She is working on a new screenplay with BFF Jennifer Lawrence.

Entertainers know they’ve made the grade when asked to host SNL. Yes, Amy Schumer did that in 2015, too.

In recent days, Schumer has made news for posing nearly nude–wearing nothing but undies and a pair of heels–for the 2016 Pirelli calendar. Annie Liebovitz created the masterpiece.

Just today–in the aftermath of Wednesday’s deadly massacre in San Bernardino, California, Amy Schumer posted a series of Tweets against gun violence.

Yes, there’s way more to Amy Schumer than just her often-vile tongue. Barbara Walters clearly recognizes that, and surely others do, too.

In addition to Amy Schumer, fellow SNL alum Tracy Morgan also made the list of 2015’s Most Fascinating People, as did ballet dancer Misty Copeland, UFC fighter Ronda Rousey, actor Bradley Cooper, fashion designer Donna Karan, and presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders.

Are you surprised Amy Schumer made the list?

  • Ronda Rousey Appears to Be on the Mend [PHOTO]

A few weeks after her shocking loss at the hands of Holly Holm, Ronda Rousey appears to be on the mend.

The no-longer-undefeated fighter was spotted walking a dog with boyfriend Travis Browne, also an MMA fighter, just after Thanksgiving.

Rousey appears to be healing nicely. She had to have surgery to repair the busted lip she received during her November 14th loss.

Rousey has been quiet since her defeat. She did tell us that would be the case.

“I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support. I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I’m fine. As I had mentioned before, I’m going to take a little bit of time, but I’ll be back,” the fighter wrote on Instagram following the loss.

It’s unclear if Rousey wants a rematch with Holm. Holm, for her part, has said she’s up for it.

  • UFC Champ Holly Holm Has Embarrassing Encounter With Beyonce

She may have landed her foot on Ronda Rousey’s head, but recently, UFC champ Holly Holm just landed her foot in her own mouth.

Things have changed drastically for the newly-crowned UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship after her stunning victory over formerly undefeated champion Ronda Rousey at UFC 193.

Holly Holm And Her Newfound Fame

As the underdog in the fight, she defied any pressure that came with going against the heavily-favored Rousey, and thoroughly impressed both the live audience and TV viewers with her superior boxing skills and composure in the Octagon.

Holly Holm completely outclassed Rousey during the entire fight, which ended in a knockout via head kick and repeated punches to the face.

Suffice to say, Holly Holm immediately became everyone’s hero – not just for beating the trash-talking Rousey, but also because she exhibited such graciousness after her win.

“I just said, ‘You know I really admire you for being such a great, dominant champion,’” Holly Holm revealed in an interview with talk show legend Larry King on Thursday.

Her meteoric rise to fame has now taken her to various social functions, in which she gets to hobnob with celebrities who approach her and sing her praises.

One of her fans happens to be power music couple Jay Z and Beyoncé whom Holly Holm met during an Alvarez-Cotto boxing match after her win.

Upon meeting them at the after-party’s VIP area, Jay Z introduced his Grammy-Award winning wife to Holly Holm. Embarrassment ensues.

“I meet Jay Z and he says, ‘This is my wife,’ and I was like, ‘Oh, hey what’s your name?’”

She explains that she actually knew who Beyoncé was and that her question was more of a habit than an actual query.

Because that’s what I do when I meet someone’s wife, and as I’m shaking her hand, I’m thinking, ‘Why did I just say that? Why did I say that…it’s Beyoncé.’”

  • Holly Holm Says She Asked Beyonce What Her Name Was

Holly Holm has had a major life change since she gave Ronda Rousey the kick heard ’round the world earlier this month; her defeat of the former UFC champ shocked the sports world and left Rousey reeling. Now, Holm says, things have definitely changed for her, and so quickly that it’s been a tough adjustment.

The MMA fighter said during a recent interview that when she met Jay-Z at a recent event in Las Vegas, he introduced her to the gorgeous woman at his side…and that’s when things got awkward.

“I met Jay Z and he says, ‘This is my wife’. And I say, ‘Oh, hi what is your name?’ That is what I do when I meet someone’s wife. As I am shaking her hand, I am thinking, ‘Why did I just say that?’” Holm said in an interview with radio station KRQE.

Holly Holm also says she hasn’t spoken to Rousey since the match, and while she doesn’t think her opponent is ready to go out for a shopping date anytime soon, she doesn’t think there is any animosity.

“I know there’s a lot of emotion going into a fight, but everything in a fight — none of it comes out of an evil heart. It’s just two people chasing the same dream . . . Her confidence is also what’s helped her to get to where she’s at. Sometimes it’s a double-edged sword. Sometimes things go your way and sometimes they don’t. I can’t say it’s a good or bad thing. I know her confidence has taken her far,” Holm said.

Although Holm was considered a long shot by almost everyone before the fight, she came out guns blazing and battled her way through the match, ending it with a kick to Rousey’s face that split her lip open and knocked her out. Rousey later took to social media to let her fans know she was alright and that she’ll be back soon.

“Yeah, she went to the hospital. Her lip is split, and they’re going to have to sew her lip and put some stitches in it,” said UFC President Dana White.

  • Ronda Rousey: Discolored Feet Lead To Steroid Rumors

Ronda Rousey suffered a devastating loss earlier this month when she went up against Holly Holm and failed to block a hard kick to the face, and now–after laying low for several days in a row–she’s in the headlines again due to rumors that the appearance of the soles of her feet are from steroid use.

Though Rousey–like many athletes–has suffered through similar rumors before, the photos of her feet immediately after the fight have circulated around the Web and sparked concern for the MMA fighter. The photos show Rousey sitting in the ring after being knocked out, with her toes a bright shade of yellow and the rest of her feet a painful-looking reddish-purple.

While some are going with the steroids theory, others are worried that Rousey may be jaundiced. However, some who are familiar with the ins and outs of MMA are saying they’ve had the same issue with their feet and that it’s likely the colors on the mat that have rubbed off onto her skin.

Still others have brought up Raynaud’s, which causes blood circulation issues.

“Raynaud’s (ray-NOHZ) disease causes some areas of your body — such as your fingers and toes — to feel numb and cold in response to cold temperatures or stress. In Raynaud’s disease, smaller arteries that supply blood to your skin narrow, limiting blood circulation to affected areas (vasospasm),” reads an explanation from the Mayo Clinic.

While Rousey takes some time to recover from her loss, her potential rivals have spoken out, with Miesha Tate saying she would love a third shot at Holly and Holly saying she’s down for a rematch if Rousey agrees.

“Here’s why I think the fight with Holly and I makes sense — for one, I haven’t ever fought Holly before. For two, I was Ronda’s biggest challenge until Holly so obviously I’ve proven that I’m a standout in the division and so is Holly. If Holly would beat me, then they could still set up that great rematch that they want between her and Ronda. If I beat Holly then I’m 5-0 and I beat the girl who beat Ronda, what better case could they ever make to have me fight Ronda again? I think that fight sells itself,” Miesha Tate said.

  • Ronda Rousey Defeat: Bad For Rousey, Great For MMA

Ronda Rousey took a kick to the head last Saturday that was one for the books, as far as the sports world was concerned.

After all of Ronda Rousey’s smack talk and bluster, she succumbed to Holly Holm’s mad boxing skills much easier than she expected.

With that kick to Ronda Rousey’s face, a glowing rivalry was born. One that not only brings viewers, but one that will breathe some life into the female MMA scene.

The theory is, every great sport needs a great rivalry.

Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm were both terrific in this fight and their polar personalities added so much color before and after the match.

Ronda Rousey is one tough chick and isn’t afraid to let her enemies know what she thinks of them.

In contrast, Holly Holm is a class act and really tries to hold to that “preacher’s daughter” image.

After she astonishingly knocked out Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm was quick to come to Rousey’s defense when people began to call her on her tough talk.

In an interview with TMZ, Holly Holm said, “I don’t want any of that to happen.”

She added, “I do feel like I come from maybe a little more humble spot, but that’s just because I don’t wanna ever say, ‘I’m this good’ or ‘I’m that’ and then have something happen and look like a fool.”

But, Holm knows she wouldn’t be where she is without Ronda Rousey’s accomplishments.

#ANDNEW

She said, “Ronda’s been a very dominant champ, and she’s taken the sport to new levels. And this fight wouldn’t have happened if she hasn’t accomplished what she’s accomplished. So I have a lot of respect for her.”

What do you think about this classic rivalry between Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm? Do you think it’s great for MMA?
