Nick Offerman, best known as Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation, wrote a book called Paddle Your Own Canoe: One Man’s Fundamentals for Delicious Living. The book covers most of the topics you would want a book written by Ron Swanson to cover: moustaches, red meat, and general manliness.
Offerman gave a Google Talk in LA last month to discuss the book, and Google has now made that available for all to enjoy. It will last you about an hour.
You should probably also know that he brought his guitar.
Parks and Recreation: Season 5 will become available for streaming on Netflix on Tuesday, October 1st. It will join its NBC comedy siblings The Office (Season 9) and 30 Rock (Season 7), which will also have their streaming catalogs expanded on that day.
Seasons 1-4 are currently available on Netflix, and Season 6 debuted on NBC this week.
Netflix continues to expand its available offerings in the comedy genre both with back seasons of popular shows like these, New Girl, The League, Louie and others, as well as original and exclusive shows like Arrested Development, Bad Samaritans, Orange is the New Black and Derek.
Netflix is also releasing an increasing number of exclusive stand-up comedy specials. Recent additions include specials from John Hodgman, Rob Schneider, Doug Stanhope, Mike Birbiglia, Kathleen Madigan, Moshe Kasher and Broken Lizard’s Steve Lemme and Kevin Heffernan.
Either way, Ron Swanson from NBC’s Parks and Recreation isn’t taking any chances. The small government-loving meat fanatic has taken precautions to make sure he doesn’t run out of delicious cured meats. And with the help of this Public Service Announcement, you can too.
Thankfully, Nick Offerman stepped into his iconic role to show us that shortage or not, it never hurts to have extra bacon hiding around the office.
Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman just can’t get enough of the Twitter activity of today’s hot young starlets. In fact, he thoroughly enjoys reading their tweets whilst doing manly activities like yard work and woodworking.
Well, maybe not in real life. But for the purposes of Conan O’brien’s twice-occurring segment “Nick Offerman from Parks and Recreation Reads Tweets from Young Female Celebrities,” he’ll read all the inane drivel that your heart desires.
The first installment of the series debuted back in April, where Offerman chopped wood and dug holes, all while reading tweets from the likes of Taylor Swift, Miranda Cosgrove, and Selena Gomez. Now, in part two, Offerman is back reading tweets from more teen celebs, but this time he’s doing it from his workshop.

The real-life Ron Swanson actually is a bit of a manly man, mirroring his on-screen persona by enjoying outdoor activities and building things like boats and furniture. Like I said before, these little clips provide some commentary on just how ridiculous Twitter (and any social media) can be at times. Sometimes, just thinking about how many people actually care that Victoria Justice loves dream catchers is enough to depress me for the rest of the day.
By all accounts, Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman doesn’t just play a man’s man on Television, but is truly a man’s man in real life. His on-screen role, Ron Swanson, one of the best characters on TV, is a mustached man who loves guns, outdoor activities of all types, and breakfast foods. In real life, Offerman is a skilled woodworker who makes boats and furniture. One the interwebs, his persona has become a meme for all things simple, right, and manly.
So if Offerman was to, I don’t know, read some particularly inana tweets from some teen starlets, that would be funny right? What if you had him read this social media drivel while chopping wood, among other manly activities? Double funny, right?
Right. And that’s what you get with Team Coco’s new segment, Nick Offerman from Parks and Recreation Reads Tweets from Young Female Celebrities.

While this sketch is funny and everything, something about the way he reads those tweets really makes the ridiculousness of it all hit home. Twitter is a wonderful medium for real-time reporting and the fast flow of information. It’s almost a shame that most people are more interested in the fact that Miley Cyrus can’t stop eating walnuts. Oh well, I don’t want to be a spoilsport.
Earlier, we told you about a study into what kind of tweets have impact on the site. The majority of people say that tweets like the ones in the sketch are simply not worth reading. And if some random person told you about their imminent socks party, that might be the case. But in the world of celebrity fascination, that’s just the stuff people want to hear from them. We all just have to accept that.
