  • Gina Rodriguez: “Jane the Virgin” Star Has New Man in Her Life, Challenges #MovementMondays

Gina Rodriguez has a new man in her life. The Jane the Virgin star is dating House of Lies actor Ben Schwartz. Schwartz is also known for his five-year stint on Parks and Recreation as Jean-Ralphio. He appeared in the 2014 film This is Where I Leave You.

It was just this past September that Gina Rodriguez and Revenge star Henri Esteve called it quits after dating for over a year.

“She’s so happy,” a source tells Us Weekly. “She thinks he is so great and all her friends love him.”

Just a few days ago, Gina Rodriguez appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, and chatted with Ellen about her desire to have a baby.

“I feel like they bring the baby up to me [on set] and my ovaries are like, ‘Ahh! Come here, baby!’” she said. “It’s, like, perfect. As soon as one cries they take it away from me and the other one comes in. That’s what happens in real life, right?”

“I could adopt, right? Yeah, I just might do that. I definitely want to adopt,” she said.

Do you suppose Ben Schwartz knows about Gina Rodriguez’s desire to become a mom? Hopefully it won’t scare him off if he’s not yet on the same page.

Even if he’s not, Rodriguez isn’t one to shy away from much of anything. On Monday she announced her new social media campaign called #MovementMondays to promote the work on Latinos on screen.

“With all this Oscar talk and lack of diversity, I decided to start a movement and speak from the perspective of a Latina American who desires to see more Latinos on screen,” she wrote on several social media platforms. “There are 55 million Latinos in this country, and although we all come from various backgrounds, our unity can make a movie explode at the box office or a TV show [soar] to the highest viewers possible. The better these projects do financially, the more money they will spend on putting Latinos in blockbuster films, as leads in TV shows, etc.”

“Right now there isn’t one Latino that can greenlight a movie. That means no studio will put their money behind a Latino face as a lead of a movie because they don’t believe we can make their money back. Let’s start making noise with where it matters most, where we put our dollars,” Gina Rodriguez added.

Gina Rodriguez is nothing if not a completely motivated woman–and a motivator, too. Will Ben Schwartz be able to keep up with her?

He’s likely very proud of the new woman in his life, as fans surely are, too.

  • Madeleine Stowe Explains Previous Misleading Victoria Death Comments

Madeleine Stowe had some explaining to do after Sunday night’s Revenge finale.

Madeleine Stowe, aka Victoria Grayson, previously seemed to lead viewers and Hollywood Reporter to believe that after Victoria Grayson blew up Grayson Manor, her character’s fate had been met.

When asked if Victoria Grayson was really dead, Madeleine Stowe replied, “I am not coming back to Revenge. This season is the end of her story line. I think in the next few episodes you’ll see some flashbacks that reveal why she did what she did, how it went down and the real motivation behind it.”

She added, “It goes beyond exacting revenge on Emily/Amanda. This is something we all worked toward. At the end of last season, I sat down with the [creative team] — I felt this character’s story was done last season [when Emily successfully plotted to have Victoria committed] — and they wanted her to continue, and they had the right to exercise that choice.… But she had a very finite story, and it needed to come to its conclusion. We went back and forth, and this is the direction we all thought was the best way to go.”

However, after Sunday night’s episode, there were a lot of questions as to why Madeleine Stowe would lead fans to believe that Victoria Grayson was a goner.

When asked why her earlier comments were so deceptive, Madeleine Stow answered, “That was a very tricky conversation because I was telling you that truth that she was dead; I just didn’t tell you when! I apologize for having to [mislead everyone]. It was one of those the things I told you that was true, so it was hard.”

She continued, “But I do think the essential things I told you stick, certainly with respect to the fact that she had a standing death wish since season one, and I knew what other people didn’t know was the backstory of her abusive background and having no parenting and nothing to fall back on.”

The question remains, does Amanda have Victoria’s heart?

Madeleine Stowe said of the shocking twist, “She’s got Victoria’s heart, which is funny. We did a table read, and it was just a wicked funny turn. Then [the writers] did a little embellishment in wanting to make it more from Emily’s psyche: Did this happen? Did it not happen? Was it a recurring dream?”

She added, “She is such an authentic witness, and I think the general takeaway was that they wanted the audience to believe it actually happened, but of course you can never know [for certain]. It was very Edgar Allan Poe, and shows that these two women will never be able to separate from each other.”

Then again, can we trust what Madeleine Stowe says?

    Did you watch the finale?

  • Emily VanCamp Will Be Back To Protect Captain America

Emily VanCamp has had a successful run on ABC’s Revenge for the past four years, but with the recent conclusion of the show comes new opportunities for the actress, and one of them is on the silver screen.

VanCamp will reportedly return to the Marvel universe as Agent 13 in Captain America: Civil War, reprising the role she briefly inhabited in Winter Soldier. In the comic books, Agent 13 is the niece of Peggy Carter–Cap’s WWII-era love interest–and presumably the films will follow that storyline.

Back in January, the directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, said that there will be some familiar faces in the new film, including Rrobert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson.

‘We’ve been preparing for the movie since the one debuted last year. So, we’ve been working on it for a long time now,” they said.”We’re very happy how it’s coming along… It’s going to star Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson will be back, Winter Soldier [Stan] will be back, and Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man will also be joining us in the next film.”

Chris Evans, who plays Captain America, said in a recent interview that he believes his character wants to find love again, but that it’s so hard for him to do something in his own interest when so many people need him.

“Family is certainly what he wants, but Cap puts what he wants last. That’s his M.O. And I think for so long he just refuses to bleed on people. So it’s hard to explore a guy who doesn’t want to make waves with his own personal conflict. He’s always trying to help the greater good,” Evans said.

Emily VanCamp took to Twitter last month to thank fans of Revenge for making it such a success, noting that she was overwhelmed with their response when news broke that the show was in its last season.

“I am utterly overwhelmed with all of the Revenge love I’m reading. Thank you! Its been one hell of a ride!” she wrote.

Captain America: Civil War is due out in May of next year.

  • Louisa Manning Gets Sweet Revenge on Bully, and an Apology

Louisa Manning is getting her fifteen minutes of fame for doing what every girl who has ever been made fun of by some heartless jerk wants to do: She grew up pretty, got invited on a date by the guy, and stood him up.

Louisa Manning told Buzzfeed that the guy in question had called her names, including “Manbeast” back in 8th grade. But now she’s all grown up.

Recently she bumped into the guy and he asked her out.

“I was pretty pissed off he asked me out, to be honest,” she said. “It really made me angry that now I’m attractive, he instantly wants to jump into bed with me. My gut instinct was to say no,” she said, “but then I realized what a brilliant opportunity it was, and after bouncing ideas off a friend for a few hours, we came up with an idea.”

Manning accepted the guy’s invitation. But then stood him up, and had a waiter deliver a note to him instead. She posted the whole thing to Facebook. It has since gone viral.

    Hey [name omitted],

So sorry I can’t join you tonight.

Remember year 8, when I was fat and you made fun of my weight? No? I do – I spent the following three years eating less than an apple a day. So I’ve decided to skip dinner.

Remember the monobrow you mocked? The hairy legs you were disgusted by? Remember how every day for three years, you and your friends called me Manbeast? No perhaps you don’t – or you wouldn’t have seen how I look eight years later and deemed me f***able enough to treat me like a human being.

I thought I’d send you this as a reminder. Next time you think of me, picture that girl in this photo, because she’s the one who just stood you up.

    Louisa

The great thing is, the guy apologized. In a Facebook message, he wrote.

“I can’t change who I was 8 years ago, and I won’t insult your intelligence by pretending that it didn’t happen, but I hope you believe me when I say I’m a completely different person now. I can only apologize and wish you the very best. I guess I won’t hear from you again but I mean it when I say that I hope you have every success you deserve.”

  • Emily VanCamp: Revenge, Captain America and Shoes

Emily VanCamp prances around the Revenge set wearing a wealth of designer heels that shoe lovers would absolutely die to get their hands on. But Emily would much rather be scuffing around the set in a pair of comfortable old boots. She claims it’s far more her style. Costume designer Jill Ohanneson has the say as to what Emily wears–at least when playing her Revenge role/roles of Emily Thorne/Amanda Clarke.

“We have found what works best for each character: Victoria [Madeleine Stowe] loves Manolo Blahnik, Charlotte [Christa B. Allen] works really well with Jimmy Choo. Emily [Emily VanCamp] would be happiest in boots, but we have to find that heel that still looks beautiful. She looks great in Manolo, and we have some Christian Louboutin. I also use Charles David and Steve Madden. It’s really such a mix,” Jill said during a recent interview.

Because of the prominence of haute couture footwear on Revenge, the show has become a platform for shoe brands to advertise their designs. Might there be a future collaboration between shoe companies and Revenge? Could there be a Revenge shoe line in the making? Ohanneson is a bit coy when answering that question.

“There is an amazing moment coming up. I can’t talk about it too much because we’re in negotiations with shoe companies to showcase their [brands]. One of the characters talks about lusting after this style. It’s an opportunity to showcase a great, interesting shoe,” she says.

Well, fine. Jill Ohanneson certainly isn’t the only one keeping secrets these days. Just check out the tweet ABC’s Revenge shared with fans before Sunday’s airing.

Revenge isn’t Emily VanCamp’s only claim to fame these days. She is also appearing in Captain America: The Winter Soldier alongside Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson. Appearing in a role like this one–and constantly looking sexy on Revenge–requires lots of heavy duty fitness for the 27-year-old actress.

“I am constantly getting ready for something,” she said during a recent interview. “I try to stay in shape as much as I can. I started Captain America when I was doing Revenge, so I already had to be in shape but, at a certain point, I’m going to have to take the time to really get in there if I am going to keep doing these physical roles. It takes a lot out of you. It is exhausting!”

Emily VanCamp may be exhausted but she has pulled off her dual roles quite successfully. Now if she’ll just wear those uncomfortable heels long enough for Revenge to launch its own line of designer shoes, she’ll have women singing her praises all the way to their podiatrist’s office–but they’ll look incredibly fashionable while limping en route.

  • Jennifer Jason Leigh Gets Some Revenge

Jennifer Jason Leigh Gets Some Revenge

Jennifer Jason Leigh may have gotten her film start in a quirky little movie about teenage sex and drugs, but she quickly proved herself to have a darker side which fairly shines on camera. And while she’s been out of the limelight for a while, she’s about to jump back in with a role on the highly popular ABC drama “Revenge”.

The actress won over the hearts of millions in the cult classic Cameron Crowe film “Fast Times At Ridgemont High” as the sweet but naive girl-next-door, Stacy. But it was when she tackled the darker nature of a woman that she shot to stardom, creeping us all out in “Single White Female” as a psycho stalker before moving on to play Dolores Claiborne’s troubled daughter in the Stephen King film.

Since then she’s appeared in several films and shorts–and even lent her voice to animated features like “Hey Arnold! The Movie” and “King Of The Hill”–but it’s been a while since we’ve seen her in a starring role, and that’s a shame. However, fans of the show “Revenge” are excited to have her on board as Emily’s mother, because it seems clear that she’ll have something dynamic to bring to the story.

The show’s creator, Mike Kelley, said, “What you’re going to discover about the woman who was Emily’s mother is the circumstances under which they were separated, and you’re going to find that there’s some deep psychological issues with her, which I think is going to be fun for us to explore.”

“Revenge” roars back into life this September on ABC.

  • Dentist Removes Ex-Boyfriend’s Teeth? Not Hardly

Last week, yours truly penned a little article about a poor Polish chap who had all of his teeth surgically removed by his vengeful ex-girlfriend. The story proved to be quite popular, capturing the imagination of people all over the world who have often dreamed of performing unspeakable acts upon their ex-boyfriends and/or ex-girlfriends. Although the story was kind of sad, the ridiculous nature of the scenario left plenty of room for a chuckle or two at the guy’s expense.

Turns out, the whole bloody affair was nothing more than a hoax.

If you missed the piece, let’s play catch-up: A man, who recently parted ways with his dentist girlfriend, decided to pay the lass a visit so she could address his tooth ache. Instead of addressing the problem, the woman doped him up, yanked every single one of his teeth, and sent him on his way. To make matters worse, his current girlfriend, horrified by his embarrassingly empty mouth, decided to leave him. It was sad and funny at the same time.

Erin Tennant at MSNBC decided to look a bit deeper into the case, and what she found was quite revealing. Neither the Polish police department nor Poland’s Chamber of Physicians and Dentists are investigating such a case, indicating that nothing of the sort ever took place.

After some digging around, the tale was finally traced back to the online edition of Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper. However, writer Simon Tomlinson, whose byline appears on the article, claims that he doesn’t know where the story came from. Odd, that.

“I’ve drawn a bit of a blank,” he stated in an email. “The (Daily) Mail Foreign Service, which did the piece for the paper, is really just an umbrella term for copy put together from agencies. My news desk isn’t sure where exactly it came from.”

That’s pretty peculiar. Given that the piece is only a week old, you’d think it would be fresh in his mind. Is Tomlinson simply trying to ignore the problem until it goes away? Possibly. Then again, this whole situation has been pretty bizarre, so it’s anybody’s guess if he’s telling the truth or not.

I, for one, am a little disappointed that the story is a hoax. It’s not that I enjoy having a laugh or two at the expense of others — well, that’s not entirely true — but the idea of someone getting a little revenge on the person who wronged them is kind of amusing. In a sick and twisted way, of course. It’s the sort of story we can share with others so everyone and their grandmother can enjoy the article’s inherent outrageousness. If nothing else, it’s reinforces the old adage that we shouldn’t always believe what we read, especially on the Internet.
