  • Christina Aguilera: Songstress Takes On Country Music, Performs At ACM Awards

Christina Aguilera has shown that she can do pretty much anything she sets her mind to.

The sexy songstress is already an accomplished singer-songwriter and is currently one of the coaches on The Voice.  But on Sunday, Aguilera showed her more laid back, country side when she performed with the Rascal Flatts at this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards.

During the event, which was co-hosted by Aguilera’s fellow The Voice coach Blake Shelton, the diva started out slow as she performed her Nashville hit “Shotgun” before seamlessly moving into the Rascal Flatt’s hit “Riot.”

The singer was excited about her country performance, even tweeting about it before the show. And even though it was her first time to perform at the ACM’s, the 34-year-old singer looked completely at ease.

Wearing a white, figure hugging dress paired with a denim jacket and a half-ponytail, the “Beautiful” singer put her powerful voice on display during her performance of “Shotgun,” a song that was written for her character on the TV show Nashville.

Coincidentally (or not), Aguilera is portraying Jade St. John on the show, a pop singer who also wants to bust out in the world of country music. The pop star showed real commitment to her character, changing not just her sound but also her looks for her 3-episode performance.

Fans can hear “Shotgun” again when she performs it from the Bluebird Café in this week’s episode of Nashville.

The singer has admitted to a strong connection with the song.

“I really love the song. It speaks to long-lasting love, the roads it takes, the turns it makes and how it lasts forever,” she explained in an earlier interview. “When I perform it, I really think of that older couple who have been through it all and who have stood the test of time with the changes that their relationship goes through.”

  • Tiffany Fallon & Joe Don Rooney Welcome Baby Girl

Tiffany Fallon and her husband Rascal Flatts’ guitarist Joe Don Rooney have welcomed their third child, a baby girl.

Rooney’s rep confirmed to Us Weekly that their newest bundle of joy had arrived on Monday, September 29 at 7:01 p.m. in Nashville, Tennessee. Devon Olivia weighed in at six pounds eleven ounces.

“We are so thrilled to finally become a party of five,” the couple told People. “Jagger and Raquel are so happy to be her big brother and big sister.”

The couple married in 2006 and already had two children together, son Jagger Donovan, six, and daughter Raquel Blue, four.

“We are so thrilled and feel so blessed to bring another little angel into our world,” Rooney said when the couple announced that they were expecting a third baby.

“Jagger and Rocky are very excited, too,” he added. “They’re going to make a great ‘big brother – big sister duo’ as the Rooney circus continues.”

On Sunday, Joe Don posted a picture of him, Jagger and Raquel on his personal Instagram account. “All babied up watching the #rydercup – nothing better! #sundayafternoon,” he captioned one of the last photos taken of them before their little sister arrived.

The couple revealed that they didn’t have a name for their newest edition until August because they were too busy counting down to the day of her arrival. Rooney said that he was just happy to have his wife back because she doesn’t do pregnancy well.

“I’m just excited to have my wife back, bless her heart. She doesn’t do [pregnancy] very well,” he explained. “She’s been really sick with this one. She’s starting to feel a little better, she’s just in that uncomfortable stage now.”

  • Carrie Underwood to Receive Special ACM Award

Country music star Carrie Underwood will join Rascal Flatts, Toby Keith and Ronnie Milsap in receiving special ACM awards in September.

Underwood will receive the Gene Weed Special Achievement Award, honoring her “unprecedented, unique and outstanding individual achievement in country music.”

The Career Achievement Award will go to singers Keith and Milsap, as well as Opry Entertainment Group President Steve Buchanan.

Rascal Flatts will receive the Jim Reeves International Award, which honors an artist for “outstanding contributions to the acceptance of country music throughout the world.”

The quintet will receive their awards Sept. 9 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

It’s been a busy year for the former American Idol winner. Her single Blown Away Medley! remains at No. 1 for another week on Top 20 Country Countdown.

She was also named the 2013 top-earning American Idol alum by Forbes Magazine in January, amassing over $31 Million. That sum not only beat other Idol winners, but exceeded the annual earnings of last year’s judges Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj.

Underwood and husband Mike Fisher — a professional hockey player — have had a difficult time arranging their schedules to spend time together, which has led to some speculation that their marriage may be on the rocks.

However, Underwood and Fisher continue to do whatever they can to protect their marriage. “Mike is fuming,” said an inside source. “Carrie is thrilled about all the opportunities, but she’s very conflicted and confused. She and Mike are barely speaking.”

“Between his schedule with the Nashville Predators and her rehearsals, they barely saw each other the last three months. When they did steal some alone time, Carrie was wiped out physically and emotionally. The ordeal left Mike feeling neglected and ignored.”
