  • Anne Hathaway: All That Glitters? What Was She Wearing at Met Gala?

Anne Hathaway begs the question is all that glitters really gold? She wore a lot of the color at the Met Gala–in the form of a dress with a strange hood and gold heels, too. It’s likely worth mentioning that Anne Hathaway also carried a gold clutch and accessorized with gold earrings as well.

The Ralph Lauren number was a custom gold lame column evening dress. It had a definite sci-fi feel. Or maybe it was ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ done up in gold. Perhaps it was a bad combination of the two.

“I kind of feel like I’m from the Deco future,” she said on the red carpet.

The Princess Diaries star was accompanied by her husband, Adam Shulman. He wore Ralph Lauren, too, but fortunately his was a Black Label white dinner jacket paired with black tuxedo pants and black velvet slippers by the same designer. There wasn’t a speck of gold on the man–and that’s a good thing, too. Anne Hathaway glowed enough for both of them.

If that take isn’t quite enough gold for your liking, check out Anne Hathaway from head to toe instead.

This year’s Met Gala theme was China. Do you see much about that dress that screams ‘China?’

What’s your take on the ensemble Ralph Lauren designed for Anne Hathaway for the Met Gala? Do you think she was celebrating Star Wars day instead of the Chinese theme? Did she (or Ralph Lauren) get their messages crossed?

  • Anne Hathaway Turns Heads With Gold Dress At Met Gala

Anne Hathaway literally shined at this year’s Met Gala.

The Interstellar actress attended the gala rocking a gold dress that seemed more Jedi than East Asia.

It was easy to see why a lot of people thought she was paying homage to the Star Wars universe instead of the Asian continent.

After all, it was May 4th, which is unofficially known as Star Wars day.

Plus, the long, shiny, metallic gold gown with the matching hood looks like something a Jedi knight would wear.

Except for the color, that is. Jedi knights usually go for a more casual, blend-into-the environment look.

The actress even seemed to affirm her gown’s sci-fi inspiration when she told reporters on the red carpet that “I kind of feel like I’m from the Deco future.”

But whether or not Hathaway was just acting out her dream of being a Jedi, she did stand-out in an occasion when celebrities are known to don out-of-this world garments.

The long, cap-sleeved gown skimmed her slender figure and the hood perfectly framed her flawless face. She completed her look with a gold clutch and large gold earrings.

The dress also had a slit that reached up to the actress’ thighs, so some leg action was evident as she walked up the red carpet. Her feet were encased in simple, metallic high heels.

The gala’s theme this year was China: Through the Looking Glass and it explores the way Chinese aesthetics have been interpreted in the West.

Rich Chinese costumes and decorative arts are displayed beside the work of designers like John Galliano, Ralph Lauren, Jean Paul Gaultier and others who have been inspired by the Oriental country.

The event, which is chaired by Vogue’s Anna Wintour, was also different this year in more ways than one.

Aside from the exhibit being three times bigger than the previous years, there have been reports that a social media ban was also put in place.

  • Kendall Jenner Does New York Fashion Week With Style

Kendall Jenner has just wrapped up her first official New York Fashion Week–at least from a fashion model’s perspective anyway. The 18-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star walked the runways for a variety of fashion houses throughout the week.

The L.A. Times reports that Jenner is now billed by her modeling agency as only ‘Kendall.’ Her first foray into Fashion Week was last Sunday for Diane Von Furstenberg, where she strutted her stuff in a black-and-white gingham dress cinched at the waist with a black ribbon.

‘Momager’ Kris Jenner was very excited about Kendall Jenner’s New York Fashion Week debut.

“You are kind of fabulous @kendalljenner !! I see you walking for Diane Von Furstenberg @DVF #SS15 #NYFW #proudmama.” is how Kris Jenner captioned her Instagram photo.

On Monday, Kendall walked the runway twice for Tommy Hilfiger, wearing both a burgundy scalloped bikini with starry tattoos across her legs and chest, and shortly thereafter a sheer navy blue caftan.

A couple of hours later on Monday, Kendall Jenner switched up her look for the Donna Karen New York show, where she donned a loose yet structured orange three-quarter-sleeve top paired with a pretty printed skirt.

Alas Monday wasn’t yet over for Kendall, who next rushed to the Polo Ralph Lauren show, where she watched that runway as a mere spectator in a beige fringed jacket.

Kendall Jenner closed out her work at New York Fashion Week on Thursday, as she walked the runway for Marc Jacobs’ ready-to-wear show. Kendall wore a shaggy black wig for this gig, and wore a long-sleeved minidress with velvety sandals.

During Kendall’s down time at Fashion Week, she took in Miley Cyrus’s art exhibit where she saw both a vibrator and a bong created–or at least bedazzled–by the ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer. She also attended a Victoria’s Secret book signing.

Now that Kendall Jenner has successfully navigated the ropes–and the runways–at New York Fashion week, might she be on tap for the upcoming fashion weeks in Milan, London, and Paris as well?

Kendall captioned this Instagram shot, “bye bye #NYFW.”

Will Kris Jenner follow this Keeping Up With the Kardashians star abroad if Kendall is scheduled to walk those runways, too?

  • Madonna, Grammy Awards: Grills Piss People Off

Madonna told Ryan Seacrest during a red carpet interview at the Grammy Awards Sunday that she wears grills on her teeth because she likes to piss people off. The 55-year-old also claims her 8-year-old son David designed her attire for the evening–which matched his–a Ralph Lauren ensemble– a black suit/tuxedo, replete with an oversized black fedora. On little David the outfit was adorable. Madonna looked like–well, it was different, to say the least. At least she was covered up more than usual, as any 55-year-old woman should be–but not always the singer’s standard. Thankfully while in the company of little David, she kept her Twitter hashtags to a far less racist level.

“We’re both working the Ralph Lauren angle,” Madonna told Seacrest. “For this look, I followed his lead. He dressed me tonight. He wanted me to dress like him, so I obeyed him.”

The Material Girl accessorized her Ralph Lauren ensemble with a cane, too–purportedly a result of a dance injury.

“Yeah, I’m grillin’,” Madonna said of her ridiculous mouthful of glittering mess. “It pisses everybody off when I wear my grill, so that’s why I wear it.”

She also added that she wears the mouth piece “when it matches my outfit. When I don’t have to eat. Actually, I’ve learned to eat with my grill in.”

Wouldn’t everyone be honored to watch that?

Little David complained while on the red carpet that his mother promised she’d get him grills, but so far hadn’t come through on her promise.

“She said she’d get me grills for this birthday,” he protested, to which Madonna quickly put on as much of a “Mom” demeanor as she could manage, adding, “I know, but we haven’t had time. We have to go to the dentist to get a mold!”

When asked what she was singing or with whom she was performing at the 2014 Grammy Awards, she replied with her usual holier than thou demeanor–the “Mom” act long gone.

“I wouldn’t do any old song with any old artist, but I feel like history is going to be made tonight,” she teased. “So I want to be part of that.”

Madonna, of course, came on stage and sang while a pre-arrange group in the audience, most of whom were same-sex couples, tied the knot.

So what’s your take on Madonna at the Grammy Awards? Were you glad she kept some clothes on? Did you feel like she performed more on the red carpet than she did on the stage?

For some–who, although they appreciate her talent feel she’s starting to look like a chewed up and spit out skinny pre-teen, it was plenty. Others, no doubt, wish she’d headlined the show.

  • USA Sochi Uniforms: Made In America

USA Sochi Uniforms: Made In America

The uniforms that Team USA will wear during the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games to be held next month in Sochi, Russia, have been unveiled.

Designed by Ralph Lauren, the new Olympic uniforms are brimful of stars and stripes with lots of red, white and blue.  Take one look at the team’s outfits and there is absolutely no mistaking what country is being represented. As usual, Ralph Lauren managed to give the clothing a classic look that many would identify as pure Americana.

The new uniforms have also attracted a lot of reaction from the public but not everybody seems to like them.

USA hockey team member Julie Chu was more approving. In her opinion the outfits underline the patriotic spirit of the United States.

“What I really enjoy when [I] look at it is I can see the patriotic spirit. When everyone’s wearing it together, it makes a bold statement.” Chu said.

Speaking of patriotism…Ralph Lauren Corp wised up this year by not making the uniforms in China like it did for the ones worn in the Summer Olympics. This year the clothes will have a Made in America label as they have all been produced locally.

The patchwork cardigan outfits were made with wool from Oregon and spun in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. It was then knitted in California.

With the American flag at the center of the uniform, it also features conspicuous Olympic rings and big stars. Underneath, you’ll see a cream cotton turtleneck, black leather boots and white athletic pants. The designer also threw in a wool “reindeer hat”. Of course the hat is red, white and blue too, with braided tassels.

In a statement delivered Thursday, the company said: “A dynamic mix of patriotic references in a classic color palette of red, white and navy defines the Ralph Lauren 2014 Team USA Opening ceremony uniform, which is proudly Made in America.”

  • Ralph Lauren’s Niece Fined For Wreaking Havoc On Delta Flight

Jenny Lauren, niece of Polo fashion tycoon Ralph Lauren, was fined $ 2000 euros (approx. $2715) for “air rage” that forced the New York-bound flight she was on to divert to Ireland.

The 41-year-old jewelry designer pleaded guilty on Wednesday to being drunk and wreaking havoc on a Delta Air Lines flight from Barcelona to New York. The crew had to divert the plane to Shannon, Ireland to boot her from the plane.

The drama started when a flight attendant spotted Lauren crying in her couch and went to console her. In a surprise reaction, Lauren told the flight attendant to “get the f**k out” of her face.  She then chased the attendant Constance Topping throughout the main aisle of the plane. According to Inspector Tom Kennedy, the flight attendant was attacked both verbally and physically.

The altercation caused concern among passengers who began standing out of their seats. She told Topping that she was going to go ballistic and pushed her hard against the wall of the plane, Kennedy said. She then called Topping a “f***ing ugly, blonde b***h.”

Supervising flight attendant Jennifer Simpson and the plane’s pilot were not spared her wrath either when they tried to intervene. The tirade lasted close to an hour before the aircraft landed in Ireland to eject her from the flight.

Her attorney Sharon Curley told the court that Lauren could not remember what had transpired in the incident and that she was “extremely embarrassed and extremely upset by her actions.”

Curley also said Lauren, who fears flying, had taken three alcoholic drinks after taking prescription medication.

Officials said the diversion cost the airline $43,158 and inconvenienced more than 100 people who were in the aircraft.
