  • Norse Apocalypse Legend Included In Stabbing Suspect’s Writings

Norse apocalypse legend “Ragnarok” apparently played a part in some of the writings left by the high school stabbing suspect who injured 20 students and a security guard in Pennsylvania.

16-year old Alex Hribal allegedly brought two kitchen knives to school in April with the intention of stabbing several people and carried out his mission early that morning as kids were arriving on campus. Investigators obtained a search warrant for Hribal’s cell phone and locker, where they found a document he’d written titled “Ragnarok”. The writings made reference to the Norse legend, which stated that the end of the world would come about this past February.

“I can’t wait to see the priceless and helpless looks on the faces of the students of one of the ‘best schools in Pennsylvania’ realize their precious lives are going to be taken by the only one among them that isn’t a plebian,” Hribal wrote.

Hribal reportedly told Vice Principal Samuel King that he wasn’t done when King asked him to drop his weapons; investigators believe he was targeting specific people. Attorney Patrick Thomassey has said that his client was bullied, but so far no evidence has been brought forth to support the claim.

“No, I am not dropping them (knives), my work is not done I have more people to kill,” Hribal allegedly said.

According to NorseMythology.org, the tale of Ragnarok is one of the end of the world as we know it in order for a rebirth to occur.

Ragnarok (Old Norse Ragnarök, “The Doom of the Gods”) is the name the pre-Christian Norse gave to the end of their mythical cycle, during which the cosmos is destroyed and is subsequently re-created.

With his eccentric list of post-apocalyptic necessities, beef jerky dollars, sperm whales and mayonnaise, John Hodgman entertains the audience in the face of impending doom.

  • John Hodgman Special ‘Ragnarok’ Coming To Netflix, Here’s The Trailer

Comedian John Hodgman (who many know from The Daily Show as well as the old Mac commercials – he was the PC guy) has a new stand-up comedy special coming to Netflix. Netflix just released this trailer:

Hodgman appeared on the CNET podcast The 404 today to discuss the special.

The special will be released on June 30th.

In case you’re wondering if that will include Netflix UK, the answer is yes, according to the man himself:

Now that Netflix has the ball rolling with exclusive content, there seem to be no signs of the company letting up. It has a significant head start at this point, over competitors like Amazon, which just greenlit its first original shows last week. Last week, Netflix launched an original documentary, Art of Conflict.
