  • Rachel Frederickson Gains Weight Post-Controversy

It looks like everyone that was concerned about Rachel Frederickson’s startling weight loss can breathe a little easier.

The Biggest Loser contestant who dropped down to 105 lbs in order to claim the big prize has put on a little weight since the show ended.

When Frederickson strutted on stage for the Biggest Loser season finale, everyone present was stunned by her 155 lb weight loss. Coach Jillian Michaels was visibly concerned and later spoke up about her misgivings.

The change was so drastic that it left many at home wondering whether or not the weight loss methods Frederickson used were ethical.

Frederickson now weighs in at about 126 lbs.

The difference between Frederickson’s season finale frame and her current one makes it clear that expecting Biggest Loser maintaining such a staggering weight loss result was probably a big ask.

The difficulty in maintaining successful weight loss achieved on the show is an ongoing criticism of the Biggest Loser.

There are a few contestants who stick close to their season finale weight. Others gain weight, but find themselves fit and happy. Some don’t return to their starting weight, but it’s clear they weren’t able to maintain a healthy weight after the show. Finally, there are those unfortunate individuals who return to about the weight they were before they appeared on The Biggest Loser.

It looks like Frederickson is content to stay at a size that is healthier than both her pre-Biggest Loser weight and season finale weight.

After putting on the 20 lbs, Frederickson told Us that she strongly suspects that she’s now at her “perfect weight”; she’s neither too big nor too skinny.

“I work out an hour, six days a week. I love classes like SoulCycle,” said Frederickson.

As a former athlete, fitness isn’t a foreign concept to the 24-year-old. It’s likely that she just needed the show to return to a weight and mentality that was there all along.

As long as she avoids the extremes, Frederickson will continue to be a Biggest Loser success story.

  • “Biggest Loser” Winner Gains 20 Pounds

“The Biggest Loser” caught a lot of heat earlier this year when last season’s winner, Rachel Frederickson, appeared on the finale looking shockingly thin. Frederickson herself took a lot of backlash from both viewers and the media, but now that she’s spent some time at home, she says she’s gained 20 pounds and is right where she wants to be.

“I think I’m at my perfect weight!” she said. “I work out an hour, six days a week. I love classes like SoulCycle. I also loosely count calories, but sometimes I might eat an Oreo. It’s not the end of the world.”

The 24-year old initially lost 150 pounds–nearly 60% of her total body weight–and shocked even the trainers when she came out from backstage on the show’s finale. According to National Institute of Health, Frederickson was considered underweight at the time for her height. And while many cried “anorexia” after seeing her surprisingly slim frame, she says she simply found the athlete inside her once again.

“My journey was about finding that confident girl and little by little, challenge by challenge that athlete came out and it sparked inside that feeling that I can do anything,” she said of her record-breaking weight loss. “I used to be a swimmer and I was in a relationship and I stopped swimming for a relationship. And I lost the self-confidence and self-worth…I feel so alive and energetic. You don’t ever have to hide that light, just let it shine.”

The backlash her appearance caused might not have been welcome at the time, but ultimately, Frederickson says, it was a good thing.

“It started a discussion about body image,” she said. “That’s huge.”

  • Jillian Michaels: Biggest Loser Winner Lost Too Much Weight

Jillian Michaels defended Biggest Loser winner Rachel Frederickson’s weight loss just a couple of weeks ago. Now she is saying she believes the contestant lost too much weight.

“Nobody told me like, ‘Oh hey, Rachel is very, very thin.’ Bob [Harper] and I had no idea,” Michaels, 40, told HuffPost Live in a recent Skype interview. “Nobody had told us. Nobody had said anything to us. So yes, I was stunned. Obviously I thought she had lost too much weight.”

It was plain to see when Rachel appeared on stage at the Biggest Loser finale that both Jillian Michaels and trainer Bob Harper were positively stunned to see how thin Rachel Frederickson had become.

“I was immediately concerned and wondering how this happened,” the Biggest Loser trainer said.

Frederickson, a 5-foot-4 former competitive swimmer, came in at the finale at 105 pounds. She had gone from a size 20 to a size 0/2. But according to Michaels, trainers are allowed to keep in touch with contestants once they continue trying to drop the weight on their own at home. She now admits Frederickson slipped through the cracks after filming for The Biggest Loser ended. It’s plain to see how thin she is in this tweet and photo, taken the day after she was named as winner.

“In my opinion, this had fallen through those checks and balances,” she continued. “With that said, anybody who gains too much weight or loses too much weight, ironically these are manifestations of the same issue. It simply means that somebody is utilizing their relationship with food to manage emotions that are painful, hard, difficult to face or control.”

Word of how thin Rachel Frederickson was circulated through the media mill quickly on the day after she was crowned The Biggest Loser. Hopefully the show does something to provide the winning contestant with some serious medical intervention–or at least access to it–now that even Jillian Michaels admits how shocked both she and Bob Harper were with her results.

  • Jillian Michaels Says “Biggest Loser” Must Change

Jillian Michaels, famous trainer for the weight loss competition show “The Biggest Loser,” has recently spoken out about the controversy surrounding recent winner, Rachel Frederickson, who lost 60% of her body weight and dropped to an unhealthy 105 pounds.

“I was stunned,” Jillian said recently in a Huffington Post interview. “I thought she had lost too much weight. Nobody told me like, ‘Oh hey, Rachel is very, very thin.’ Bob and I had no idea. I was immediately concerned and wondering how this happened.” Jillian also says that Rachel’s health could still be in danger. “Anybody who gains too much weight or loses too much weight, these are manifestations of the same issue. It simply means that somebody is utilizing their relationship with food to manage emotions that are painful, hard, difficult to face or control.”

Jillian blames the show’s lack of “checks and balances” for Rachel’s dramatic change. After contestants leave the ranch, trainers and producers are supposed to keep in touch with contestants and track their progress. Somehow, Rachel “fell through the cracks” and no one bothered to mention that she was reaching a potentially dangerous weight. What does this mean for the future of the show?

Well, producers have recently spoken out and claimed that there will be some “small but significant tweaks” to production of the show. Future seasons will include more at-home support for contestants and frequent check-ins. “There might be more focus on what happens to the winner after they are done with the show,” says an E! news source. While dramatic weight loss will always be the focus, producers claim that a post-filming timeframe is now their biggest project moving forward. They show also reminds those concerned over Rachel’s dramatic change that their diet and exercise program is highly monitored and supervised by doctors, to ensure that unhealthy weight-loss habits won’t transfer to the contestants’ at-home lifestyle.

Rachel recently spoke out in People magazine about her dramatic transfer, saying that she was maybe “a little too enthusiastic trying to get to the finale,” saying she was exercising for six hours each day during the three-month break before the finale (a habit that went unmonitored by the show). Rachel stresses that she is still “very, very healthy.” What do you think about her transformation? Do you agree that the show needs to change its monitoring habits? Let us know!

  • “Biggest Loser” Winner Responds To Uproar

“The Biggest Loser” has become a reality show phenomenon; a competition that viewers can not only follow, but might be inspired by to begin their own weight loss journey. In recent years, the show has seen its share of drama, not just between the contestants but with the coaches as well. Late last year, celebrity contestant Ruben Studdard was brought back after being kicked off because of a misstep by coach Jillian Michaels.

But the show has never seen anything quite like the finale that aired on Tuesday night, when 24-year old Rachel Frederickson stepped out onto the stage to reveal a dramatic 155-pound weight loss. After losing almost 60% of her body weight–going from 260 lbs. to 105–Frederickson shocked the audience and the trainers, who couldn’t contain their expressions when they saw her thin frame. According to the National Institute of Health, Frederickson is now considered to be underweight due to her petite stature.

After the show aired, an immediate backlash began on the web regarding Frederickson’s extreme weight loss, with some calling her “anorexic” and urging her to get help. But when she appeared on “Access Hollywood Live” later, she explained that she feels she’s right where she needs to be.

“My journey was about finding that confident girl and little by little, challenge by challenge that athlete came out and it sparked inside that feeling that I can do anything,” she said of her record-breaking weight loss.

Frederickson says she lost herself because of a relationship, and now that she’s regained her athleticism, she doesn’t want to look back. After not going out on a date for six years, the time had come for a dramatic change.

“I used to be a swimmer and I was in a relationship and I stopped swimming for a relationship,” she said. “And I lost the self-confidence and self-worth…I feel so alive and energetic. You don’t ever have to hide that light, just let it shine.”

  • ‘Biggest Loser’ Winner Size 20 to 0/2

‘Biggest Loser’ Winner Size 20 to 0/2

24-year-old Rachel Frederickson started out on Season 15 of The Biggest Loser weighing in at 260 pounds. Now that the show has come to an end, she’s left with the title of “Biggest Loser,” 59.62 percent of her body weight and a hefty $250,000 added to her bank account.

The young contestant went from a size 20 to a size 0/2.

The amazing transformation resulted in utter shock from the trainers. Trainer, Dolvett Quince said, “You’re a fighter and I saw it from you on day 1 and I brought it out, but you did it. You accomplished it. You fought, you fought and here’s your life back. You fought for it.”

Right before Frederickson stepped on the scare for the very last time she told host Allison Sweeney, ” just choosing to own my past and move forward in this life, and knowing that I can take control and do anything that I want … it’s been amazing.”

Frederickson decided to go on the show after a devastating breakup that left her feeling hopeless. “I truly came on The Biggest Loser to gain my life and get that second chance to take control and to be that confident girl again,” she said.

The runner-up for this season was 43-year-old David Brown with a total of 222 pounds lost. Brown is a project manager but because of his recent makeover, many are saying he’ll have a new career path in modeling. Brown decided to come on the show after he lost his wife to cancer and promised her that he’d be there to take care of their children. Worried he wouldn’t be able to fully commit to his promise because of his health, Brown decided to make a change-and boy has he committed.

    Congrats to the biggest winners!
