  • Jamie Lee Curtis Recreates Mom Janet Leigh’s Famous ‘Psycho’ Shower Scene For ‘Scream Queens’

Jamie Lee Curtis paid homage to her mother in an unusual way.

The 56-year-old Halloween actress recreated Janet Leigh’s famous shower scene from the movie Psycho for her new Ryan Murphy comedy, Scream Queens.

As reported by People magazine, Curtis plays Wallace University’s scheming Dean Cathy Munsch in the Fox slasher comedy.

The shower scene from the 1960 Alfred Hitchcock film left a generation of women terrified to take a shower.

Curtis’ scene was filmed in black-and-white and mimics the scene to a tee; although, instead of being stabbed by Norman Bates masquerading as his dead mom, it’s the Red Devil lurking behind the dean’s curtain on Scream Queens.

Curtis spilled the beans about the homage to Entertainment Tonight back in September.

“Ryan Murphy and co. wrote it into a special episode and it felt right! Honoring the Royal legend that is/was/will always be, Janet Leigh. Thought all fans of the genre would love it!”

Jamie Lee Curtis recently told People that she has little in common with her famous parents, Leigh and Tony Curtis. While the famous couple enjoyed being in the spotlight, Jamie Lee says being in the limelight is the real horror in her world.

“Given what their backgrounds were and how their rise to fame was so meteoric, that sort of thing was important to them,” she said. “When I’m out in the world, I don’t walk around like my father used to. He’d walk into a restaurant and preen and pose and say, ‘Hello, you fine people. I’m Tony.’ … That’s not me.”

Check out the original Psycho scene with Janet Leigh to compare with Jamie Lee Curtis‘ homage. If you dare.

Scream Queens airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.

  • Jamie Lee Curtis Calls Her Career ‘Luck’ But Was Born To Scream Queen Stardom

Jamie Lee Curtis may have never become an actor at all, if not for how the stars aligned in her life. Speaking at the annual Grants Dinner Banquet, sponsored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Jamie Lee Curtis spoke about how her life might have gone very differently.

“I fell into the entertainment industry,” Jamie Lee Curtis said. “If luck, if the confluence of my life had not occurred in the way it did, I would’ve never been an actor. I would’ve been a cop.”

Jamie Lee Curtis did go to college, but only for one semester. She had never declared a major, but has said she considered majoring in social work. She dropped out to focus on pursuing acting. Curtis may call her acting career the result of “luck,” but she came by that luck differently than most.

Curtis is the daughter of actors Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh. It is fitting that Jamie Lee Curtis’ first role, and many of her subsequent roles, would be in the Halloween films. Her mom Janet Leigh is one of the most iconic scream queens of Hollywood, best known for her shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho.

While Jamie Lee Curtis went on to do several other horror genre films, including The Fog, Prom Night, Terror Train, and Roadgames, she later broke out of that genre to rack up awards in drama and comedy. Her first foray out of the land of fake blood and hockey masks was Trading Places, sharing the screen with Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd. Then came A Fish Called Wanda, and later True Lies, which featured Curtis in a strip-tease scene that was simultaneously sexy and hilarious.

Speaking of sexy, Jamie Lee Curtis’ role opposite John Travolta in Perfect established her as a body to be reckoned with. She has held that image, even as she ages gracefully. It is a fashionable thing nowadays for stars to embrace their grey hair, or even for young celebs to color grey. Jamie Lee Curtis beat them all to that. Plus, she has brought dignity and vitality to her role as spokesperson for a yogurt product that helps people go poop.

Jamie Lee Curtis has not entirely abandoned her horror film roots. She has returned to the Halloween franchise again adn again, including when her scream queen mother joined her for Halloween: H20. Leigh had appeared in The Fog with Jamie Lee before.

Now Curtis is embracing her scream queen origins as the dame of the upcoming Scream Queens series on Fox.

Curtis is married to Christopher Guest, best known for his mockumentary films such as Waiting for Guffman, and A Mighty Wind, as well as his role in The Princess Bride as Count Rugen, the six-fingered villain.

Jamie Lee Curtis may call it luck or a confluence, but she was raised in the business. Insomuch as she did not really go out blindly hunting down acting success as many have, she is right.

  • Jessica Biel Gets Psycho Role and Justin Timberlake

Jessica Biel will play Vera Miles in the film Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho. The movie is about Hitchcock’s directorial struggle to make the psychological thriller a masterpiece.

The gorgeous brunette allegedly beat out several young starlets for the part.

Yesterday we reported that Biel will stand as the woman to survive within Psycho while Scarlett Johansson will be stabbed repeatedly during the steamy shower scene. The shower segment from the 1960s release is composed of more than 90 shots seen in 70 different camera angles. It took Hitchcock and his crew an entire week to film it. The entire film took only six weeks.

Adding to her success is her status as the future Mrs. Timberlake.

The lovers decided to get engaged while they were on vacation in Jackson, WY.

The couple have been off and on for years but even when they were apart Justin would say that Jessica was the most significant person in his life.

Rumors are starting to spread that Biel doesn’t completely trust Timberlake and that they have been arguing about multiple issues including a pre-nuptial fidelity clause that would award her $500,000 if Timberlake cheats on her and the fact that she doesn’t want to have babies anytime soon.

Regardless of the outcome, Biel has a lot more going for her than her impending engagement. Aside from Psycho she will be starring in the remake of Total Recall with Colin Farrell and Playing the Field with Gerard Butler.

  • Jessica Biel and Scarlett Johansson have Gone Psycho!

Jessica Biel will play Vera Miles in the film Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho. The movie is about Hitchcock’s directorial struggle to make the psychological thriller a masterpiece.

The film was adapted from a book by Stephen Rebello with the same title. It was published in May 1990 and details the creation and evolution of the chilling classic.

Hitchcock took on the film’s adaptation partly as an experiment and it went on to become an international box-office success and classic.

Rebello researched the film by analyzing Hitchcock’s personal records and archives. He interviewed virtually every surviving cast and crew member in the late 80s.

The cast continues to grow: According to firstshowing.net Danny Huston, Michael Stuhlbarg, Toni Collette, Michael Wincott have all joined the film; Collette is playing Peggy Robertson, Hitchcock’s longtime assistant, while Stuhlbarg will play the director’s big time agent Lew Wasserman. Huston is playing Whitfield Cook, friend to the director’s wife, and Wincott is playing Ed Gein, the real killer upon which Psycho is actually based.

Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, will be directed by Sacha Gervasi and is scheduled to start filming later this year.
