  • There Are Over 100 Games Coming To The PS4 In 2014

There’s a reason Sony has been so friendly with indies these past few years. Sure, it’s good to play nice with the next generation of game creators, but there’s always been an ulterior motive. With so much indie support, Sony can now claim that it has the most games of any current-gen console. It said just as much today in a post that finally details how many games are coming to the PS4 in 2014.

Sony took to the PlayStation Blog today with a list of all the games coming to the PS4 in the coming year. Overall, there are over 100 titles coming to the system in 2014 with a large number of those games coming from indie developers.

Sony started off the list with the titles already on the PS4 of which there is actually quite a few. Since the start of the year, 17 games have been released the system across retail and the PSN. Some of the biggest titles already available for the PS4 include Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, inFamous: Second Son and Towerfall Ascension.

Going into Spring, 31 titles will be coming out for the PS4. A large number of these games will be coming from indie developers, including Octodad: Dadliest Catch and Mercenary Kings. There will be some major retail games hitting the console during this time, however, as Bound by Flame and MLB 14: The Show will both be launching in May.

As you move further into the year, the number of confirmed releases slow down with Summer only having 15 titles confirmed for June through August. There are some big titles hitting the console during this time though with The Elder Scrolls Online and The Evil Within both confirmed for Summer.

In Autumn, the number of confirmed titles drops to six with titles like Dragon Age Inquisition and Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. As for Winter, there are only four confirmed titles, including Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Of course, there are a lot of games that don’t even have a release date yet. All we know is that they’ll be out in 2014 and Sony has compiled a list of all those games. In all, there are 47 games without a release date, but they will all be out this year. Of course, something could happen that sees some of these delayed into 2015, like the recently delayed Witcher 3. Still, the point is that there’s a lot of games coming to the PS4 in 2014.

  • Monster Hunter Is Free For PlayStation Plus Members This Week

Has your PS Vita or PSP felt a little lonely lately? Well, it won’t be lonely anymore if you happen to be a PlayStation Plus member and a fan of monster slaying.

Sony announced this morning that this week’s PlayStation Plus update will feature only one new addition – Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. The title was originally released on the PSP a number of years ago, but it’s now free for PSP and PS Vita owners. If you’re new to Monster Hunter, Freedom Unite would be a good place to start for those wondering what Capcom’s super popular series is all about. I can assure you – it’s more than just hunting monsters.

Here’s some of the features players will find in the game:

Monster Hunter Goes Free On PlayStation Plus

Sony would also like to remind gamers that Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition for PS4 and Tomb Raider for PS3 will both leave the Instant Game Collection on April 1. If you have yet to download either game, you’ll want to download them before the start of the month.

  • Assassin’s Creed Unity Announced For PS4, Xbox One And PC

It’s another year and that means another Assassin’s Creed game is coming our way. Unlike last year, however, this year will reportedly see two Assassin’s Creed games. One will be released on the PS4, Xbox One and PC while the other will be released on the PS3 and Xbox 360. A tipster leaked the former to Kotaku and that has forced Ubisoft’s hand resulting in the announcement of the next Assassin’s Creed game.

Ubisoft announced Assassin’s Creed Unity over the weekend – the game is slated for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It will feature a new protagonist named Arno and will be set in Paris. The time period is the French Revolution if the guillotine didn’t give it away. According to Nicholas Gigante over at The Examiner, the game will also do away with competitive multiplayer in favor of four player co-op. Beyond that, we know nothing else about Unity.

By moving exclusively to next gen, Assassin’s Creed Unity will be able to offer what the last game in the series did not – true next gen visuals and features. Those who played Black Flag on the PS4, Xbox One or PC can’t deny that it’s a pretty game, but they also can’t deny that it was just a prettied up last gen title. By focusing on current gen consoles, the next game will be able to go all out in the visual department. It’s hard to tell if the first trailer for Unity is in-game, but it’s incredibly promising if it is:

So, what about the other Assassin’s Creed title intended for last gen consoles? The game is reportedly nicknamed Comet and that’s all we know. The two games will likely be set during the same time period, but they’ll probably star different characters. The game will also likely tie into Unity and be released at a later date on next-gen consoles as a hi-res port. This is all merely conjecture though based upon Ubisoft’s past actions in regards to Assassin’s Creed spinoffs.

We’ll likely learn more about both games in the coming months with a main reveal intended for E3. It’s obvious that Ubisoft wasn’t expecting to reveal the game this soon so it’s likely scrambling to get some information out to fans wanting to know more.

  • Battlefield 4 Naval Strike Has Weaponized Hovercraft

Hovercraft are inherently silly. It’s a boat that’s trying to be a land vehicle. They aren’t intimidating at all, but you can try to make them fearsome in the latest DLC for Battlefield 4.

EA and DICE announced today that the latest DLC to hit Battlefield 4 is called Naval Strike. As its name implies, it will feature large scale naval battles between battleships, pontoons, helicopters and the aforementioned hovercraft. In fact, the hovercraft seem to present some interesting strategies as the vehicles can move on land and sea.

Interestingly enough, one of the maps takes place at an old naval fort with 19th century cannons stationed on the walls. Players can actually use these cannons to take down enemy aircraft and even get more points for doing so. The new weapon has potential for loads of great YouTube moments.

Of course, the new DLC brings up a most pressing question – is Battlefield 4 fixed yet? EA and DICE were the subject of a lot of criticism at Battlefield 4’s launch due to the game’s multiplayer component being nigh unplayable for some people. DICE responded by saying that it would put all of its DLC plans on hold to fix the main game back in December. It’s been four months since then and some would probably argue that the game still isn’t flawless. It has even attracted a class action lawsuit from EA’s investors.

In related news, EA is in the running for the Consumerist’s Worst Company in America Competition for the third year in a row. The company has won the golden poo for the past two years. Will it be able to avoid a third or will EA suffer humiliation yet again?

  • PlayStation 4 Update Coming Soon

    PlayStation 4 Update Coming Soon

For the past two months now Microsoft has been detailing and releasing major updates to its Xbox One console. The updates have included everything from a revamped friends list and party chat system to hardware space management and a controller battery icon. In short, Microsoft worked furiously to prepare its latest console for last week’s Titanfall release and has promised to bring other major updates in the near future.

In the meantime, Sony has been largely quiet about major updates requested by PlayStation 4 owners. Today that silence has ended and Sony is promising to bring significant changes to PS4 software “in the coming weeks.”

In a PlayStation blog post today SCEA Director of Product Planning and Software Innovation Scott McCarthy revealed that some of the “most-requested” features currently missing from the PS4 will be coming to the console soon. Most of the coming PS4 updates will involve video recording, streaming, or sharing – features that the PS4 has helped to pioneer in the console space.

A video editor is being added to the PS4 for users to cut gameplay clips that they have recorded using the console’s gameplay buffer and recording feature. Another feature will allow PS4 users to export their gameplay clips to a USB drive using the “Share” button on the DualShock controller.

An even more significant feature for a subset of gamers coming with the update is the ability to turn HDCP encryption off. This will allow the recording of gameplay using HDMI, making it easier for long-form PS4 gameplay to be captured and make it to YouTube and other video sites. From the blog post:

We recognize that some gamers want to record and share longer clips of their gameplay sessions, and we’re excited to deliver this option with PS4. There’s a lot more coming in this update as well, so stay tuned for more—there will be plenty in the update to excite everyone.

In addition to the coming update Sony is also promising to bring Twitch streaming upgrades to the PS4 in the future. The company acknowledges that gamers have been asking for a way to archive their PS4 Twitch broadcasts and stream their gameplay at higher resolutions. The company promises that it is now working with Twitch to update the app and provide those features at some point.

  • Sony Brings VR To The PS4 With Project Morpheus

The Oculus Rift was the first piece of hardware to make virtual reality cool. The only problem is that it’s not coming to consoles any time soon. That won’t be a problem for the PS4 as Sony is making its own virtual reality headset.

At the Game Developers Conference, Sony announced its next big hardware project – Project Morpheus. In short, it’s a VR headset that’s very similar to the Oculus Rift. The only difference is that Sony’s hardware is way ahead of where the Rift was when it was first revealed. Project Morpheus features a 1080p display, a 90 degree field of view, accelerometer and gyroscope sensors, and head tracking via the PlayStation Camera.

Project Morpheus is currently a prototype, but Sony has a number of tech demos already available for the hardware. The most interesting one by far is a God of War demo that has players take control of Kratos from a first person perspective. Players will see Kratos’ arms and legs as if they were an extension of their own body. Another demo, from Square Enix Montreal, reworked certain areas from the recent Thief reboot to work with the prototype hardware.

Of course, Project Morpheus won’t work by itself. Players will still have to interact with the world in some way. The hardware supports both the DualShock 4 and PlayStation Move. It seems like Sony prefers the Move as it allows players to further immerse themselves in the world through virtual reality and motion control. It could be interesting in a game like God of War, but it could also prove tiring after a while.

Sony has made some gambles in the past, like Blu-ray, that have become standards. The company believes virtual reality will be the next big thing in games and is banking on that belief with Project Morpheus. Will it work out for them? If the price is right and the software is there, it just might. Gamers are already in love with the idea of the Oculus Rift and those who have played a game on one already know it to be pretty magical. With Project Morpheus, Sony might just be able to take VR mainstream.

  • inFamous: Second Son Proves Next Gen Isn’t All About The Graphics

Let’s go back to February of last year. Sony revealed the PS4 for the first time and its main focus was on two things – ease of development and powerful visuals. Since then, all we’ve been hearing about is just how pretty PS4 games are. Well, the developers behind inFamous: Second Son think we should be hearing about something else.

In a new trailer for inFamous: Second Son, the game’s audio engineers get to take a brief step into the spotlight to talk about the work that went into creating the sounds for the game. It’s definitely something most gamers take for granted, but the team believes that their work will lend itself to even greater immersion as everything will sound like its real world counterpart. They went out into the field and and gathered dozens of different sounds – like metal scraping on concrete or metal screeching across another piece of metal. All of these sounds will combine together as players destroy buildings and structures to give you a sense of place.

The team also brags about Sony’s own hardware as they have developed a custom sound profile for Sony’s new PS4 headset. With it, players will be able to experience what may perhaps be the best audio mix for the game. That being said, it’s not like they’re leaving everybody else out. They even specifically mention that they kept the player who has a TV with a broken speaker in mind.

inFamous: Second Son launches March 21 exclusively for the PS4.

  • Hyper Light Drifter Looks Like A 2D Dark Souls

The retro look is starting to get old. It peaked with Sword & Swocery, and has been going downhill since. Now Heart Machine has come to the rescue with a new retro-inspired title that’s absolutely gorgeous.

Heart Machine announced today that its Kickstarter-funded RPG Hyper Light Drifter would be coming to the PS4 and PS Vita this year. The game is a top-down 2D RPG with a highly stylized look reminiscent of titles like Sword & Sworcery and Fez. It also has a dark, foreboding atmosphere that makes it feel like a 2D Dark Souls.

For those worried about that comparison, don’t be. Hyper Light Drifter promises fast, fluid combat that’s challenging, but never unfair. In the game, players will be using guns, swords and magic to deal with foes as they explore a variety of environments that are all interconnected.

As for the story, the team at Heart Machine want to create a story that’s told without text. Here’s how they plan on doing it:

We are wary of endless blocks of text, poorly designed UI, and explicit handholding, which can often dilute a great experience. These leave a player frustrated, or worse, disinterested. Instead, we want players to uncover the rich mythology along with the Drifter in a more organic way, with a narrative that’s not explicit. We chose to recognize that players are smart.

We keep the systems management as straightforward as possible, with zero visible UI elements that don’t relate to the world itself. This helps to keep the player immersed and focused on the moments and constantly unfolding story in the world, rather than on numbers, bars and maps.

Dialogue and quests are presented in storyboardlike sequences, which convey a specific mood without the use of text or voiceovers. This also allows us to keep the game as visually lush as possible and break past language barriers.

Oh, and it looks absolutely stunning in motion:

Hyper Light Drifter will be out on PS4 and PS Vita later this year.

  • Race The Sun Announced For PS3, PS4 And Vita

Last year, indie dev Flippfly introduced the world to Race the Sun – a procedurally generated racing game for PC. Now they’re bringing it to Sony’s platforms.

Flippfly announced today that that they’re bringing Race the Sun to PS3, PS4 and PS Vita this summer. The unique racing game promises speed in it most distilled form as players race against an ever setting sun in a solar powered plane. Once the sun goes out, you’re done.

Like most indie PC darlings, Race the Sun will get some new features on its move to Sony platforms. For starters, the developers will be adding new levels to the game. They will also be adding in cross buy and cross save support so players only have to buy the game once to own it across all three platforms.

Race the Sun is just the latest indie game to be hitting Sony’s platforms this year. As AAA releases become rarer, you’re going to one day thank your lucky stars that so many indie titles are releasing on console platforms now. It’s a nice way to pass the time between releases, and some of these indie titles are oftentimes on par with or even better than the major studio releases.

  • Here’s How Creative Assembly Made The Xenomorph In Alien: Isolation

The xenomorph is the ultimate killing machine. Well, that was the case in the first Alien film before they were reduced to bullet sponges in Aliens and every subsequent media property released in the franchise since then. This all came to a head last year with the disastrous Aliens: Colonial Marines that somehow managed to make the xenomorph look even more pathetic. Creative Assembly wants to fix that.

Earlier this year, Creative Assembly announced they were making Alien: Isolation. The new game takes place between the events of Alien and Aliens and features Ripley’s daughter as the main character. It’s being billed as a survival horror game with just one xenomorph – much like the original film.

While that’s certainly exciting, it might not be that great if the xenomorph is stupid. Thankfully, Creative Assembly seems to know what it’s doing as every encounter with the alien is unscripted. Instead, it will be fully focused on hunting down the player and only reacting to the player’s actions. In other words, the goal is to make sure the player never feels safe.

Alien: Isolation is slated to launch later this year on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.

  • Hideo Kojma Talks Metal Gear Solid V, Developing For PS4

In just one week, Metal Gear fans will get to experience the next chapter in the Metal Gear Solid saga. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes – a prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – launches on March 18 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. Before the launch, Sony invited the series’ creator – Hideo Kojima – to talk about the game and the PS4.

As has been demonstrated multiple times already, Ground Zeroes is probably the biggest departure for Metal Gear Solid yet. No more will players be confined to Big Shell, the jungles of Russia or the deck of Arsenal Gear. Ground Zeroes takes place in an open world where stealth is but one of the many options available to players as they attempt to clear missions.

As for the PS4 hardware itself, Kojima seems especially interested in the Share button. Due to Ground Zeroes’ open nature, he wants players to share their gameplay strategies with others. He says that 100 players presents 100 different strategies and he hopes the Share button brings those to the forefront.

Perhaps the most interesting thing Kojima has to say in the interview isn’t about Metal Gear Solid V or the PS4, but rather about gaming in general. He says game consoles used to be solitary experiences that only experienced vertical evolution as they became more powerful. With the Internet, however, game consoles can now experience horizontal evolution as players become aware of each other through the Internet and can share the experience of games together.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes launches on PS4 next week and comes with an exclusive mission for those who buy the PS3 or PS4 version.

  • Here’s 8 Minutes Of inFamous: Second Son Gameplay

After a few months without a major release, Sony is about to release inFamous: Second Son for PS4. Originally planned as a launch title, Second Son is the third game in the inFamous series and features a new protagonist in Delsin.

In a new eight minute gameplay trailer, we get to see unedited gameplay footage from one of the game’s early missions. In it, Delsin teams up with Fetch Walker to take out groups of anti-Conduit protestors. Throughout the footage, he uses powers similar to those used by Cole in the first two inFamous titles as well as some new abilities as well.

As for the visuals, Second Son may be the prettiest PS4 title to be released thus far. The particle physics alone are some of the most impressive we’ve yet seen on any platform. This will be the game you show your friends to prove the PS4’s visual merits.

inFamous: Second Son will be out March 21 exclusively for PS4.

  • ‘CounterSpy’ Coming to PS4 This Summer

Sony has kept the PlayStation 4 indie game train rolling this week with the announcement of Counterspy for its latest console. According to developer Dynamighty, Counterspy will be coming to PS4 sometime this summer.

The game is also coming to PlayStation 3, PS Vita, iOS, and Android. Despite the new console announcement, Dynamighty Creative Director David Nottingham emphasized in a PlayStation blog post that the studio is still “super committed” to the PS3 and PS Vita versions of the game. He also revealed that the mobile versions of the game will sync to console versions.

Announced at E3 2013, CounterSpy is a sidescrolling stealth/action game that puts players into the shoes of a master of sabotage. As a C.O.U.N.T.E.R. agent players will infiltrate cold war bases to steal and destroy unthinkable weapons of mass destruction.

The game gives players a variety of tools and weapons with which to accomplish their missions. A bit of CounterSpy gameplay was revealed today in a short teaser trailer accompanying the PS4 announcement:

  • Sony’s VR Tech Will Be At GDC Next Week [Report]

After years of sloppy execution and terrible movies, the Oculus Rift finally made virtual reality viable in 2013. Going into 2014, Oculus won’t be the only VR player anymore as Sony is expected to enter the arena with its own hardware.

EDGE reports that Sony will be showcasing its new virtual reality tech at next week’s Game Developers Conference. Its new VR headset is said to be more advanced than the first generation RIft and will be compatible with the PS4.

The VR headset is expected to be revealed during Sony’s GDC session called “Driving the future of innovation at Sony Computer Entertainment.” The session will feature the two heads of Sony’s R&D – Richard Marks and Anton Mikhailov – alongside Shuhei Yoshida. We’ll likely not see any games for the hardware at the session as EDGE says third parties aren’t committed to the platform just yet. Instead, Sony may just show off an internal tech demo that may or may not involve rubber ducks.

Sony can have all the rubber duck tech demos in the world though and it still won’t make VR a viable platform on consoles. For that, Sony needs games and it doesn’t have them yet. EDGE says developers are taking a wait and see approach before they start making games for the platform. In other words, it’s up to Sony to make the first games for the new platform to prove that it’s a viable market. If successful, third parties will begin building games around virtual reality.

Even if we do enter a world of virtual reality, traditional gamers need not worry. It’s not like every game will be taking advantage of this new technology. Virtual reality lends itself well to certain play experiences, but not all. You don’t have to worry about the next great platformer or action adventure game being exclusive to Sony’s headset as it just doesn’t make sense. You may, however, see the next Killzone game adopt the headset and that’s incredibly exciting.

  • TowerFall Ascension Launches On PS4 Today

TowerFall Ascension Launches On PS4 Today

The Ouya may have not been the console gaming savior is was hyped up as, but it did provide us with a couple of unique games. Perhaps its most notable game was TowerFall – a 4-player competitive game much like Super Smash Bros. but with one hit kills. Now the game has made its way to the PS4 with some new features.

Matt Makes Games announced that TowerFall Ascension will be out on the PS4 today. This new version of the game features the same 4-player competitive that made the Ouya version a big hit, but it also includes a single-player campaign called Quest mode.

Quest mode will have players working their way through the tower by themselves – or with a friend – as they take down enemies and enormous bosses. The game’s core mechanic of methodical arrow-based combat is carried over into the campaign so players will have to remain cautious as a misplaced shot will leave them open.

Alongside the PS4 release, TowerFall Ascension will also be available on the PC today.

  • Dragon Age Inquisition Sure Looks Pretty

Dragon Age Inquisition Sure Looks Pretty

Dragon Age Origins, despite its solid characters and writing, was a little on the generic side. Dragon Age II was even more so. With Dragon Age Inquisition, it looks like BioWare is beginning to learn a thing or two about world building.

In a new trailer for Dragon Age Inquisition, BioWare shows off some of the environments players will come across in the new RPG. In short – it looks amazing. The design is straight out of the very best European RPGs with a wide variety of environments ranging from forests and castle towns to sprawling underground chasms and deserts.

The move to Frostbyte 3 really shows as well with the environments being some of the prettiest we’ve yet seen in a game. Dragon Age Inquisition may be the first RPG to really show off the power of the PS4 and Xbox One. Of course, it will also be quite the looker on PC.

Dragon Age Inquisition is scheduled to launch later this year on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

  • Watch Dogs Has A Release Date Of May 27

Watch Dogs Has A Release Date Of May 27

Last year, Ubisoft delayed Watch Dogs to allow the much anticipated game a bit more time in the oven. Since then, all Ubisoft has said is that it will be out in Spring. Now we know exactly when in Spring.

VG 24/7 got their hands on a leaked trailer that was supposed to go up later today that reveals Watch Dogs will be out in North America on May 27. The trailer apparently went up early on the Xbox 360’s dashboard and gamers were able to capture it before it was taken down.

The trailer itself is actually pretty exciting since we haven’t seen anything from Watch Dogs in so long. In it, we get a bit more backstory as it explains why protagonist Aiden Pearce became a vigilante. We’re also introduced to one of the central antagonists – a man running a sex trafficking ring in Chicago who claims to own the city.

With this, it’s pretty safe to say that Watch Dogs will be out May 27 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and PC. The Wii U version has been delayed beyond that as the Wii U team was taken off the project to help finish the other versions first.

UPDATE: The leak seems to have forced Ubisoft’s hand as it has now uploaded the trailer to its YouTube channel. You can see it above.

  • PS4 Horror Game Soma Gets New Trailer

PS4 Horror Game Soma Gets New Trailer

The PS4 is quickly becoming a console for survival-horror fans. Just last month, PC indie horror title Outlast launched on the console, and Daylight will be coming out in April. Next year, the guys who took indie horror mainstream will be bringing their game to the console.

Frictional Games, the team behind Amnesia: The Dark Descent, shared a new trailer for their next game – Soma – today. The sci-fi horror title is said to explore the idea of consciousness in a world that looks to be inspired somewhat by the likes of Alien and its ilk.

In its latest update, Frictional Games says that Soma is nearing alpha. They currently have 5 hours of playable content, but says the final game will be about 8 hours in length. The team also reveals that the game will not just be all hiding and running away. There will be puzzles to solve and notes to find as they make their way through the game. Of course, there won’t be any combat so you will be running away from whatever dangers lurk in the world.

For more on Soma, check out this morning’s PlayStation Blog post. The team has posted the five goals it hopes to accomplish in the development of Soma. If it nails this, we may have ourselves another modern horror classic on our hands.

  • ‘Fez’ Coming to PlayStation Consoles in March

It’s another week and Sony is once again announcing the release date for an indie game that is coming to the PlayStation 4. This time the game is one of the most-talked about indie games of the past two years. Fez is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita on March 25.

Fez, is the 2D/3D platformer that impressed critics and fans in 2012 with its interesting puzzle mechanics involving a bit more thought and detective work than the average video game puzzle. The game has already sold over one million copies across the Xbox 360 and PC platforms.

The PlayStation versions of Fez have been ported by developer BiltWorks. It’s unclear what role the game’s original studio, Polytron, is playing in the PlayStation release. Fez creator Phil Fish rage quit the video game industry last year, halting development on Fez 2 shortly before the PlayStation versions of Fez were announced. Fish and Fez were famously featured in the documentary Indie Game: The Movie.

The launch trailer for Fez is still relevant to its PlayStation debut and shows why Fez is so lauded without spoiling too many secrets:

  • Batman: Arkham Knight Announced For PS4, Xbox One And PC

Last year, Warner Bros. Games released Batman: Arkham Origins as a prequel to the much loved Arkham series of Batman games that began with 2009’s Arkham Asylum. While it was a good game in its own right, it definitely felt like something to hold us over until the next proper entry from series creator Rocksteady Games. Well, our gut feeling was on the money as Rocksteady is back with a new Batman game that wraps up the Arkham franchise.

WB Games and DC Comics announced today that Batman: Arkham Knight will be the final game in the Arkham franchise when it hits PS4, Xbox One and PC later this year. The game takes place after the events of Arkham City with a Gotham City overrun with the usual rogues gallery led by Scarecrow.

In the explosive finale to the Arkham series, Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect. The Scarecrow returns to unite an impressive roster of super villains, including Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn, to destroy The Dark Knight forever. Batman: Arkham Knight introduces Rocksteady’s uniquely designed version of the Batmobile, which is drivable for the first time in the franchise. The addition of this legendary vehicle, combined with the acclaimed gameplay of the Batman Arkham series, offers gamers the ultimate and complete Batman experience as they tear through the streets and soar across the skyline of the entirety of Gotham City.

The first trailer for the game doesn’t have any gameplay, but it definitely appeals to the Batman fan:

There’s still no release date for Batman: Arkham Knight, but it will be out later this year. It’s also the first major multi-platform game to skip last generation consoles in favor of focusing exclusively on current generation systems which is exciting in its own right.

  • PlayStation 4: Six Million Consoles Sold

PlayStation 4: Six Million Consoles Sold

Sony Confirmed this week that six million PlayStation 4 consoles have now been sold since the console launched last November. The news comes less than one month from when Sony was touting the fact that 5.3 million PS4s had been sold through worldwide. The PS4 continues to be sold out at many retailers across the world.

The six million announcement comes one week on from the release of the console in Japan, where 320,000 PS4s were sold in two days. This number beats PlayStation 3 launch week numbers but does illustrate how significantly the Japanese gaming market has shifted away from home consoles.

The new sales figure officially places PS4 sales numbers ahead of Nintendo’s Wii U, which has been available to customers for over one year now. The number also continues to pace PS4 sales well ahead of Xbox One sales as Microsoft gears up for its make-or-break Titanfall launch next week.

In addition to the sales numbers, Sony has revealed a bit more about just how popular its PS4 streaming and sharing features are. According to the company there have now been more than 3.6 million live broadcasts through the PS4 and more than 56 million stream views through the PS4. The company also claims that the PS4 has accounted for 20% of daily Twitch broadcasts since the beginning of 2014. Sony also revealed that, with an estimated 90% of PS4s connected to the internet, the “Share” button on the new DualShock 4 controller has been used more than 100 million times.
