  • Far Cry Classic Comes To Xbox 360, PS3 Today

Remember Far Cry? The original PC game developed by Crytek back in 2004 was the first game to introduce us to the veritable CryEngine that’s now being used in games like Crysis and Ryse: Son of Rome. It also helped solidify PC gaming’s superiority when it came to visuals. Now the original PC classic is finally making its way to consoles.

Ubisoft announced today that Far Cry Classic, a remake of the original with improved visuals, is launching today on the PS3 and Xbox 360. The remake has only improved the visuals and UI so those hoping for a major overhaul of the original title’s admittedly dated gameplay are out of luck.

Alongside the release of Far Cry Classic, Ubisoft will also be releasing a collection of the title’s far better sequels in a bundle called Far Cry Compilation. The bundle includes the divisive Far Cry 2, the universally loved Far Cry 3 and the absurd Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. All three games are way better than the original Far Cry, but Far Cry Classic may be worth a look if you want to see where Far Cry 3 came from.

  • Here’s A Combo Heavy Lords Of Shadow 2 Trailer

You could easily argue that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow had simplistic combat. Sure, there was a combo system in place, but it really couldn’t compete with the likes of God of War or Devil May Cry. With Lords of Shadow 2, it looks like the team is stepping up its game with a variety of weapons that can be switched on the fly for custom combos.

In the latest trailer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, we’re treated to a look at the Void Sword weapon. Compared to Gabriel’s combat cross, the void sword doesn’t have much of a reach. It makes up for this, however, through its ability to steal the life force of all those it comes into contact with.

Beyond the void swords specific ability, we’re also treated to a look at a number of combat combos in the game. While there hasn’t been anything specific said about the combo system, it looks like Lords of Shadow 2 will be putting a greater emphasis on keeping a combo chain going.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will be out on February 25 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

  • Here’s Some More Lords Of Shadow 2 Gameplay

When it comes to game trailers, nothing beats direct feed gameplay. Sure, developer diaries are nice and all, but they rarely give us a look at how the game actually plays. That’s why it’s a relief that the guys over at Mercury Steam are finally sharing a new gameplay trailer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.

In the latest trailer for Lords of Shadow 2, we’re treated to nine minutes of gameplay featuring Gabriel Belmont’s run in with the Toy Maker. The Toy Maker was one of the antagonists in Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, but players never actually got to fight him. That all changes in Lords of Shadow 2.

If you want to avoid spoilers, you might not want to watch the gameplay trailer below. If you don’t mind spoilers, you’ll be able to see a section of story and a rather impressive boss fight. Check it out:

  • Lightning Returns To Raid Some Tombs

Until now, Square Enix hasn’t really crossed the streams between its Western and Japanese properties. It seemingly kept the separate because the fan bases for franchises like Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy were different. Well, Square is going to try things out with a little cross pollination DLC.

Square Enix announced this morning that Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will get some Tomb Raider DLC to coincide with the release of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition on Xbox One and PS4. The DLC gives Lightning a total makeover as she dons Lara’s outfit from the latest Tomb Raider while equipping herself with a riot shield and pick axe.

With this latest addition, it makes one wonder if Square Enix will be experimenting with other DLC crossovers in the future. Since Lightning Returns is heavily based on costumes, we could easily see Square adding Deus Ex, Hitman or Kane & Lynch costumes to the game. While the audiences may not overlap, I’d sure as hell would want to see Lightning fight in a suit while killing fantastical monsters with piano wire.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is now available on PS4 and Xbox One. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be released on February 11 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

  • PS4 Update 1.60 Adds Support For Wireless Headsets

When the PS4 first launched, the system only supported wired headsets. It was a major disappointment for PS3 owners hoping their $100 wireless headset would be supported out of the box. It wasn’t like Sony just killed support though – it promised that it would update the PS4 firmware in early 2014 to include support. January came and gone without a peep, but now Sony is finally giving audiophiles what they want.

Sony announced this morning that the PS4 will be getting system software update version 1.60 tonight which adds support for both the PULSE and PULSE- Elite Edition wireless headsets. PS4 gamers can finally enjoy 7.1 virtual surround sound that the PULSE headsets provide.

If you don’t have a PULSE headset, Sony will also be releasing the PlayStation Gold Wireless Headset early this month to take advantage of the new update. The new headset features 7.1 virtual surround sound, a noise-canceling microphone, customizable faceplates and even custom audio modes built for specific games. For example, the guys at Sucker Punch will be building a custom audio profile for inFamous: Second Son for use with the headset.

Here’s a quick video of the headset in action:

Sony says the Gold headset can connect to the PS4, PS3 or PC through a wireless adapter and can remain active for 8 hours before needing to recharge. It can also connect to a mobile device through its included 3.5mm audio cable adapter. It will retail for $99 when it launches early this month.

  • Sherlock Holmes Makes The Jump To Next Gen With Crimes and Punishments

The Sherlock Holmes adventure games from Focus Home Interactive have apparently been popular enough to warrant multiple sequels since the first game was released in 2002. The franchise has moved between various platforms, including the DS, Wii and PS3; but now is making its way onto next-gen consoles.

Focus Home Interactive announced this week that Sherlock Holmes: Crime and Punishments – the latest game in the franchise – will be making its way to the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and PS4 in the first quarter. There is no Xbox One version planned at this time.

For those new to the franchise, the modern Sherlock Holmes games try to walk a thin line between the investigative aspects that make the BBC series so popular and the action elements that make Guy Ritchie’s films also popular. In other words, you’ll be solving mysteries whilst beating up bad guys.

As for the mysteries, the trailer promises players will be solving six cases throughout the course of the game. There’s no mention of which cases he will be solving, but Sherlock Holmes super fans will no doubt recognize a few of the scenarios in the below trailer:

  • Outlast Free On PS4 Next Month For Plus Members

Every month, Sony serves up a number of free games for PlayStation Plus members. January was a touch act to follow with great games like BioShock Infinite and Brothers going free on the PS3, but it looks like February might be even better.

Sony unveiled this morning that Outlast – the indie horror title that scared PC gamers in 2013 – will be going free on the PS4 at launch in February for Plus members. Outlast is only the fourth free game to hit PS Plus on the PlayStation 4, but it may be the most “next-gen” game thus far outside of Resogun.

For PS3 owners, they can look forward to a trifecta of excellent games – Metro: Last Light, Payday 2 and Remember Me. Metro: Last Light is the sequel to 4A Games’ excellent Metro 2033. The original game was never available on the PS3, but gamers who only have a PS3 won’t be lost as the game’s opening does an admirable job of catching players up on the plot.

Payday 2 is the popular co-op shooter that has four players taking on the role of bank robbers as they attempt to get away with the perfect heist. The console versions of the title haven’t been supported as well as the PC version, but it should still be a fun time for those looking for a good co-op game.

Finally, Remember Me is a new IP from Capcom that features a near future Paris, combat with customizable combos and a memory manipulation mechanic that makes the game worthwhile.

As for PlayStation Vita, fans of the handheld will get Modnation Racers Road Trip and Street Fighter X Tekken in February.

Here’s a short preview of all the games in February’s update:

  • Final Fantasy XIII Becomes An SNES RPG In Story Recap

Final Fantasy XIII has a confusing mess of a story. It’s sequel – Final Fantasy XIII-2 – didn’t make things better by introducing time travel into the mix. That’s why Square Enix felt it needed to remind everybody how things went down in the first two games before people start playing Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII next month.

Now, Square Enix could have just compiled cutscenes from the first two games and bored us with 2 hours of cinematics. In a rare turn for the company, however, it decided to be awesome and release a story recap told in the style of an SNES RPG.

Will the stories of Final Fantasy XIII or Final Fantasy XIII-2 make any more sense in the below video? Not at all. Will it fill you with hope that somebody at Square Enix still knows how to make a classic JRPG without ruining the spite art? Absolutely.

I’m not the first to say this, but Square Enix really needs to make another RPG just like this. It doesn’t even matter if it’s story is as stupid as Final Fantasy XIII’s. Sometimes all a man needs is a simple JRPG about saving the world with the traditional ATB battle system in tow.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is out on February 11 for Xbox 360 and PS3.

  • Here’s A Look At The World Of Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow 2

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is going to be very different from the first title in the trilogy. Just looking at gameplay videos wouldn’t tell you that, however, as it still retains the same combat and dark gothic themes as the original game. Where it truly differentiates itself is in the world and exploration.

In a new trailer for Lords of Shadow 2, the development team goes into detail on how they built the open world that players can freely explore in the sequel. After hearing from players that they wanted exploration back, the team built a modern city around Dracula’s castle that could be freely explored. Like in the past games, players are encouraged to return to previous areas with new equipment to find new items that were previously unobtainable.

As for the world design itself, the developers at Mercury Steam took inspiration from their home country of Spain. They note that they live in the middle of castle country and had plenty of architectural design to pull from when building their modern, gothic city.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will be out on February 25 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

  • Here’s What Comes In The Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Collector’s Edition

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will be making its North American debut in March. Until then, you’re going to have to decide which version of the game you want. Square Enix is making it harder for fans by offering two versions with one version only being made available via its online store.

In a new video, Square Enix revealed the contents of its upcoming collector’s edition for Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. The collector’s edition is only available through Square Enix’ online store and features a 40 page artbook, a blu-ray disc with six hours of Final Fantasy X music, and five lithographs.

If you don’t want to shell out $80 for the admittedly slim pickings available in the collector’s edition, you can go for the limited edition that’s a free upgrade for all those who preorder the game from any retailer. While you miss out on the blu-ray music disc and lithographs, you get an artbook featuring content from both Final Fantasy X and X-2.

  • Thief Can Be As Difficult As You Want It To Be

When the Thief reboot was announced in 2012, many fans of the franchise were concerned. They felt that a modern take on the franchise would do away with many of the gameplay elements that made the original games so challenging and memorable. The developers at Square Enix Montreal has heard them loud and clear though.

In the latest gameplay trailer for Thief, we get a look at the customization options players will find in the final game. Upon starting up a new game, you get to choose from four difficulty levels with the last one being “Custom.” In this menu, you can toggle various options to make the game feel more like the older games, like disabling checkpoints and focus or making it so that the player can only use stealth takedowns on enemies.

For the players that really want to challenge themselves, the developers have put in what are called “Ultimate Thief Mods.” These disable upgrades, make it so that players can’t kill enemies, have players fail the mission upon being spotted and more. These were included in the game for the long-time Thief who want the ultimate challenge.

While you’re at it, check out some fresh gameplay footage as well:

Thief will be out on February 25 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PC.

  • Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Revamps Its Battle System

Most Final Fantasy fans can agree that Final Fantasy XIII didn’t have the best battle system. The turn-based/real-time ATB battle system lacked much of the depth seen in previous games, and it was at times a little unwieldy. That all changes with Lightning Returns as the battle system has received a complete makeover.

In the latest trailer for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, Square Enix spends a bit of time detailing the battle system in its latest title. Unlike the first two Final Fantasy XIII games, combat is no longer a series of menus. Instead, actions are assigned to the four face buttons with players being able to execute any of those actions as long as their ATB gauge isn’t empty.

While it doesn’t sound all that different, the new Schema system is what makes it stand out Throughout the game, Lightning will be able to equip up to three different outfits at any one time and switch between them at will during battles. These outfits give Lightning unique abilities that are mapped to the four face buttons. When the ATB gauge runs out for one outfit, you can switch to the next for a full gauge and four new abilities.

You can try out the battle system for yourself as the Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII demo is now available on both Xbox 360 and PS3. If you plan on buying the game, you’ll want to check out the demo as you can unlock two additional outfits for the full game by playing it.

  • Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow 2 Has An Ensemble Cast

In the original Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, there weren’t a lot of characters for players to keep track of. The story mostly followed the quest of Gabriel Belmont and his mentor Zobek. For the sequel, the cast has been significantly expanded.

In the latest trailer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, Konami reveals all the characters that will play a role in its conclusion to the Lords of Shadow trilogy. Obviously, Gabriel and Zobek are back with the latter being played by Patrick Stewart once again.

As for new characters, Alucard, Trevor and Victor will all make an appearance in this latest game. Alucard and Trevor were playable characters in Mirror of Fate with Simon being the only true new addition to the Lords of Shadow franchise. It’s hard to say how the writers are going to keep this many Belmonts sorted out, but it should be manageable as long as they don’t try to shoehorn Soma into it somehow.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will be released on February 25 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

  • Here’s A Closer Look At The Last Of Us: Left Behind

At the PS4 launch, Naughty Dog announced that it would be bringing a single-player DLC expansion to The Last of Us with Left Behind. The new DLC chapter is a prequel to the main game’s story where players control Ellie as she makes her way through an abandoned mall with her friend Riley.

In the latest trailer for Left Behind, Naughty Dog talks about making a prequel featuring a character that you already know isn’t in the main game for some reason. While they don’t come out and say that Riley dies in this DLC chapter, it’s a pretty good bet that this will show us what shaped Ellie into the hardened survivor that she was in The Last of Us.

Beyond the story, Naughty Dog also discusses the new gameplay features players can expect to see in Left Behind. The playable character this time around is a child without much combat experience so Naughty Dog will seemingly focus more on stealth and manipulation. That means some rooms will feature enemy humans and infected allowing the player to pit both enemy factions against each other while they sneak through the room.

Besides the above making of feature, Naughty Dog also released the opening cinematic Left Behind. You’ll obviously want to avoid the video if you want to go in not knowing anything beyond the basic details, but everybody else will want to check it out:

The Last of Us: Left Behind will be released on February 14. It’s the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for that special somebody, especially if that special somebody is yourself.

  • Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Demo Out Today, Nets Players Exclusive DLC

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII promises to be the most radical departure from the norm in Final Fantasy since Final Fantasy VIII added Guardian Forces and magic drawing to the mix. The changes might have some long-time fans apprehensive about the quality of the game and that’s why Square Enix is proving a demo before it releases in February. It’s not just any demo, however, as it also will attempt to coax you into buying the full game with the promise of exclusive DLC.

Square Enix announced this morning that a Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII demo will hit the PS3 and Xbox 360 today. In the demo, players will be tasked with tracking Snow in the city of Yusnaan. It will give you a taste of the exploration and battle system found within Lightning Returns.

As for the exclusive DLC, players who download the demo will get the Utsusemi Samurai outfit to use in the full game. Those who are able to complete the demo by defeating the boss and uploading your score to social networks via Square Enix’ Outerworld will unlock an additional outfit. This outfit is called Siegfried and is based upon the character of the same name from Final Fantasy VI. It should be noted that the Utsusemi Samurai outfit is exclusive to PS3 owners.

Square Enix notes that the offer of exclusive DLC is still available for those who pre-order the game. You’ll not only get the Cloud Strife outfit, but those who pre-order through Amazon will get the Yuna outfit as well.

  • Sony Redesigned The PS3 For PlayStation Now

At CES, Sony announced that it was getting into the game streaming business with PlayStation Now. The new service will purportedly allow people to play PS1, PS2 and PS3 games on their PS4, PS Vita, tablets and smartphones via an Internet connection. Now more details are emerging about the service and it looks like Sony had to get a little creative to get PlayStation Now up and running.

Digital Foundry reports that Sony has created custom PS3 hardware for use with the PlayStation Now service. It appears that Sony attempted to run PlayStation Now off of standard retail PS3 retail units, but found that it was impossible to do so. The size of the units combined with the amount of power needed to operate them proved insurmountable.

With standard retail units out of the question, what was Sony to do? According to the report, the company built custom PS3 hardware that houses eight custom console units into a single rack server. In other words, they placed eight PS3 motherboards into a single rack server to solve both their space and power issues.

Beyond fixing its space and power issues, Digital Foundry notes the PS3 hardware helps Sony solve the latency issues that affects nearly every streaming service. With game streaming services, the operators have to reduce latency to a point that’s nearly indistinguishable from the input latency that occurs naturally with consoles. While an Internet connection is never going to provide the kind of response times that you get with an actual console, the newly redesigned hardware should hopefully help Sony get awfully close.

It should go without saying, but Sony’s new PS3 hardware will never be available to consumers. It’s reported existence is interesting though as it shows Sony is dedicated to making game streaming work. While others have come before it, none have ever truly been successful for a number of reasons. With PlayStation Now, Sony could have the first commercially successful game streaming service, but that’s only if its custom hardware can stand up to the task.

  • Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD Out Now On PC, PS3 And Xbox 360

So, you’ve already played through the excellent Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and are eagerly awaiting whatever Ubisoft has in store for the franchise next. You could wait until next November for whatever Assassin’s Creed V turns out to be, or you could play the one game in the franchise that went unnoticed thanks to the platform it was on.

Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD, a remastered port of the previously PlayStation Vita exclusive title, is now available on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The game takes place during the events of Assassin’s Creed III, but follows the exploits of Aveline – an African-French assassin living in 18th century New Orleans at the end of the French and Indian War.

Unlike Assassin’s Creed III, Liberation is not all about free running and sword fighting. The game mixes up the gameplay with three distinct gameplay varieties that take advantage of Aveline’s gender and race as she can either seduce guards as a noble woman or blend in with her surroundings as a slave. When neither option is viable, she can also don the traditional assassin’s armor and take out her enemies with a variety of weapons.

  • Get A Closer Look At The Inner Workings Of Square Enix

Get A Closer Look At The Inner Workings Of Square Enix

Square Enix is largely a mystery to the outside world. Much like any other Japanese game developer, the company likes to keep to itself and not share its development secrets with anybody else. That all started to change last year when Sony started up its Behind the Square series that gave us a behind the scenes look at the development at Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

While it’s been a few months since the first episode of Behind the Square aired, Sony is now back with the next two episodes of its inside look at the inner workings of Square Enix.

In episode 2, the team discusses the art design and the designs from veteran designer Tetsuya Nomura. The team wanted to make Lightning more beautiful in Lightning Returns, but also stronger and cooler. The composer, Naoshi Mizuta, sought to bring out that same feeling with his score. As for the environment design, they took inspiration from Tokyo itself to build out the world in Lightning Returns.

In the third and final episode, Square Enix discusses the time limit in Lighting Returns that makes the game very similar to The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. Instead of three days, however, players have 13 days to save the world. This time-based mechanic will make it so that players will have to complete quests based around NPC’s schedules.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII launches on February 11 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

  • Sony Patents Method To Make Old Games Feel New Again

Remakes are nothing new to the game industry. Ever since Nintendo remade the first three Mario games for Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES, developers around the world have delighted fans with remakes that improve the visuals, gameplay and more. Now it looks like Sony is looking at a novel way to introduce new elements in older games without having to completely remake it.

iGR recently stumbled upon a patent filed by Sony Computer Entertainment called, “Suspending state of cloud-based legacy applications.” As the name suggests, the patent details a technology that could theoretically be used to take a “snapshot” of a specific game and then resume from that point at a later date. While it certainly could be used to help players resume a paused game, it could also be used to introduce new elements into older games.

    Here’s how Sony describes it:

Finding new ways to play preexisting video games can increase the longevity of older games. Instead of replaying the same level or completing the same missions repeatedly, gamers often desire new challenges when replaying legacy games. In response to this need, game designers have begun to produce mini-games. Within a mini-game, the gamer can be instructed to complete new objectives or challenge their friends for high scores in a format that was not originally designed into the legacy game. Further, since the mini-game is derived from a legacy game, the gamer already knows the characters and basic components of the game, and is therefore more likely to play the mini-game.

Mini-games often do not begin at traditional starting points that were used in the original game. For example, the mini-game may begin near the end of a level, just prior to facing a final opponent, or the boss of the level. A boss is an enemy-based challenge which is found in many video games. Bosses are generally seen at the climax of a particular section of the game, usually at the end of a stage or level. Due to the climactic nature of fighting a boss, mini-game designers may choose to use this section of the game as their starting point. In order to make the mini-game more challenging than the original version, the game designer may also want to limit the number of lives a player may use, or change other game parameters such as the amount of health the main character has remaining Other game scenarios may be chosen as starting points for a min-game. For example a mini-game may begin with the game player being the batter in a baseball game where there are two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning and the batter’s team is down by one run.

Pretty cool, right? If Sony can somehow pull this off, it could help revitalize a lot of older games for new and old players alike. Nintendo has already dabbled in something like this with the release of NES Remix on the Wii U. The game tasks players with completing specific challenges in classic NES games alongside introducing new challenges that completely change how the games played. For example, one level turns the ground in the first stage of Super Mario Bros. to ice.

It should be noted that Sony’s patent wouldn’t be able to do anything that sophisticated. NES Remix involved a lot of new code and substantial changes to the original game. Sony’s patent would simply allow the developers to change the game within its original parameters and then present that to the player as a new challenge.

If anything, this patent is only further confirmation that cloud emulation is coming sooner or later to the PS4. While the specter of OnLive is still fresh in our memory, Sony and Gaikai may yet be successful in a field that nobody else has really been able to find much success in.

  • PlayStation Plus Gets BioShock Infinite, Don’t Starve In January

It’s the day after Christmas, and you’re already downloading all the free games you can get from PlayStation Plus after your parents, friends or significant other purchased a year’s subscription to PlayStation Plus for you. While there’s plenty of great content to be had on the service already, January is going to be a stellar debut for PlayStation Plus in 2014.

Sony announced today that a total of six games will be hitting PlayStation Plus in January across the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita. Starting with PS4, indie survival game Don’t Starve will debut on PS4 and be free right out of the gate for PlayStation Plus subscribers. So, what’s it about? Here’s the official synopsis from Sony:

Don’t Starve: Console Edition is an uncompromising wilderness survival game full of science and magic. You play as Wilson, an intrepid Gentleman Scientist who has been trapped by a demon and transported to a mysterious wilderness world. Wilson must learn to exploit his environment and its inhabitants if he ever hopes to escape and find his way back home.

If brutal survival games aren’t really your thing, you still have plenty of other options on PS3 and PS Vita. For PlayStation 3, BioShock Infinite, DMC Devil May Cry and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons will all go free during the month of January. All three are fantastic titles that any PlayStation 3 owner should pick up.

As for PlayStation Vita, those hoping for something a little more exciting might be a little let down. The handheld is getting brain trainer Smart as… and lumbricid combat sim Worms: Battle Islands. Both games should provide gamers with something a little different from the norm, but those waiting for Persona 4 Golden to go free will have to keep waiting.

  • Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMix Gets A New Trailer

Back in September, Square Enix reacquainted us with its odd, yet charming, mashup of Final Fantasy and Disney with Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMix. The game included HD remakes of Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and the movies from Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. Now Square is bringing the other three titles in the Kingdom Hearts saga to PlayStation 3 this year.

Square Enix released a new trailer this week for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix that features gameplay from all three titles that are included in the set – Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded. Like in the past compilation, the first two titles are complete HD upgrades while Re:Coded is merely a collection of cutscenes from the original DS game.

So, how does it look? Well, it looks like Kingdom Hearts II, but in full HD. All the melodrama, friendship and DiZ that you can take are back with better visuals. As for Birth by Sleep, the best title in the Kingdom Hearts franchise will hopefully get the treatment it deserves.

With this release, all but one of the current Kingdom Hearts games has been remade for HD consoles. What about Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance then? According to series creator Tetsuya Nomura, Square Enix hasn’t exactly figured out what to do yet with the 3DS title. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Re:Coded were reduced to simple movie collections as they didn’t want to deal with converting touch screen controls to the PS3. Kingdom Hearts 3D extensively uses the touch screen so any port would have to take that into account, and fans wouldn’t be that happy with a single “game” that just included the cutscenes.

Anyway, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMix will be out in 2014 exclusively for the PS3. As for Kingdom Hearts III, it will be done when it’s done.
