  • Katie Holmes To Produce Adaptation Of “All We Had”

Katie Holmes will be adding the title of producer to her resume soon. The former wife of Tom Cruise is continuing to find her own place in the world and we might be the lucky ones who reap the benefit.

She has reportedly optioned the film rights to the novel All We Had by artist and new author Annie Weatherwax. Katie Holmes has great talent and will make a spectacular producer!

This isn’t exactly her first time around the behind-the-scenes production block. Katie Holmes was an executive producer on the book-to-movie hit The Romantics in 2010.

She starred in The Romantics with Anna Paquin and Josh Duhamel. Although The Romantics flopped at the box office, it gave Katie Holmes the experience she will need to produce the movie for All We Had.

No news yet on whether or not Katie Holmes will also star in the All We Had adaptation.

All We Had is a novel about 13-year-old Ruthie who, along with her rough mother Rita, gets evicted from her home. The down-and-out pair seek a fresh start in a strange town called Fat River. The quirky locals are said to provide quite the backdrop for the action. This definitely sounds like an adaptation that Katie Holmes could have a lot of fun with!

All We Had isn’t all that Katie Holmes has going on right now, though. The Dawson’s Creek and Batman Begins star can be seen in The Giver, which comes out next month.

Katie Holmes is also busy filming The Woman in Gold, which will come out in 2015.

Hopefully Katie Holmes’ adaptation of All We Had will bring her more success than her acting career. She is a remarkable actress, but Batman Begins and Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark certainly didn’t do her any favors.

Good luck to Katie Holmes on her new venture!

  • Katie Holmes To Try Hand At Producing

Katie Holmes To Try Hand At Producing

Katie Holmes wears many hats, but she is most well known as an actress on screen in TV and movies. She got her start on Dawson’s Creek in 1998, then went on to star in movies like Batman Begins and Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. She has also had a couple of runs on Broadway.

Katie Holmes has had a pretty decent career in Hollywood and on the stage, but now she is seeking to try something new. Holmes has optioned film rights to the upcoming novel All We Had by new author Annie Weatherwax.

She wants to produce a film based on the book. The novel is about single mother Rita, described as gritty, and daughter Ruthie. The pair get evicted from their house and try to begin life anew in a quirky small town called Fat River, which is brimming with interesting locals. Sounds like a great first production project for Katie Holmes!

Katie Holmes isn’t a total noob, however. She did serve as executive producer on another book-to-movie in 2010 called The Romantics.

You can see Katie Holmes next month in The Giver, Mania Days later this year, and Woman in Gold in 2015. There is no word yet on whether or not she will star in her production of All We Had.

If so, Katie Holmes definitely has the skills to pull it off. Could she possibly have another book-to-movie hit likeThe Fault in Our Stars or The Hunger Games on her hands?

Who knows, but it sure is nice to see Katie Holmes making a name for herself! She has quite the talent and she should expand it to take on more “hats” in the movie industry.

The novel All We Had will be out on August 5th. Congratulations to Katie Holmes on her new venture!

  • Hilary Swank and Tommy Lee Jones Star in ‘The Homesman’

Hilary Swank and Tommy Lee Jones star opposite each other in The Homesman. The international trailer for the upcoming film hit the internet on Tuesday. A release date for the film has yet to be announced.

Jones not only stars in the film, he serves as director and producer–and he co-wrote it as well. He plays the role of a claim jumper who has to help a pioneer woman–played by Hillary Swank–escort three mentally disturbed women all the way from Nebraska to Iowa in order to pay her back for saving his life. Jones’s character was about to be hanged when Swank’s character intervened and saved him.

In addition to Swank and Jones, The Homesman also stars Meryl Streep, William Fichtner, and Hailee Steinfeld.

The last film Hilary Swank starred in was You’re Not You back in 2013. Her biggest film credit to date was Million Dollar Baby back in 2004, for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress.

Rumor has it that The Homesman may be headed to Cannes. One of Tommy Lee Jones’s previous stints at directing–The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada–debuted on the Croisette in 2005, so the notion certainly isn’t a far fetched one. The scenery in The Homesman is said to be positively amazing as it follows Jones and Swank’s character’s journey from Nebraska to Iowa. Brilliant cinematography has led some films to debut in Cannes in previous years.

The Homesman is adapted from the novel by the same name, written by Glendon Swarthout. The lead character in the book–Mary Bee Cuddy–is the one upon which Hilary Swank’s character is based.

Are you a fan of Hilary Swank and/or Tommy Lee Jones? Based on the first trailer for The Homesman, does this look like a film you might be interested in seeing once it hits theaters?

  • Ruben Studdard One of American Idol’s Biggest Selling Stars

Ruben Studdard won the title of American Idol back in 2003, and to this day is one of the highest grossing singing stars to emerge from the show. Fresh off his success on The Biggest Loser, where he trimmed up and slimmed down big time, Studdard talked with NPR about his music career and how American Idol started him along his successful way.

Studdard also talked about his sixth studio album release since his Idol win, and how it’s a combination of both cover songs and a few originals. He explained how he likes to cover other people’s music.

“People are used to hearing particular songs a certain way. And so, to put a new and fresh take on classics is something that I think distinguishes the greats from the OKs,” he said.

Unconditional Love was released in time for Valentine’s Day, just a few weeks ago, and has seen incredible sales since then. Despite his present fame and fortune he still credits American Idol for his introduction to the music world.

“I didn’t know it would be as big as it was. I knew that I wanted to be a professional musician. I’ve never wanted to have any other job as long as I can remember. And so, I just didn’t think that God would give it to me like that,” he said during his interview. “Like, you know, it used to be people say be careful what you pray for, because you might get a gallon of water instead of just a glass. And I really did get the gallon.”

When asked if American Idol pressured him to fit a certain mold, Ruben had the following to say.

“There wasn’t very much pressure to try to figure out who I was. I think there was just a lot of pressure trying to figure out where I fit in. The one thing about “American Idol” is that it puts you at such a high level, that you feel as if everything you do has to be at that level forever. We start so high. You know, most artists have an opportunity to kind of be developed and work their way through having a failed album and all that…,” he said.

Ruben Studdard is definitely one of the successful ones. He joins the ranks of Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson who, as everyone knows, rode their American Idol wins to the top of the music charts and to this day enjoy lucrative careers and lots of notoriety in the music world.

Studdard beat out runner up Clay Aiken in 2003. Aiken also went on to enjoy a successful music and theater career.

Aiken has since become involved in politics, and Ruben Studdard is one of his biggest supporters.

Not everyone believed in Ruben Studdard when he won American Idol. It looks like everyone who voted for him knew a good thing when they saw (and heard) it.

  • Meg Ryan To Produce And Star In NBC Sitcom

Meg Ryan is set to produce and star in a new NBC sitcom. The well-known actress has long been known for her romantic comedy films especially, and select others, but this will be the first time that she has starred in a television show. However, she did jump start her career with appearances on shows such as As The World Turns and Wildside.

It is also the first time that she has had the chance to work behind the camera, The series, which is currently in development, is being written by Marc Lawrence, who previously wrote the film Miss Congeniality and Michael J. Fox’s hit show, Family Ties. Lawrence teamed up with Ryan over the summer, and came up with the premise of the show together. As the star and producer of the show, she plans to have a lot of say in how the show will go, although it still has not been given a name.

Ryan has been very popular throughout her career, starring in hit films such as Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally and You’ve Got Mail, to name a few. Her last film, Serious Moonlight, was released in 2009, but you would have to go back pretty far to find a film of hers that was actually held in high regard and seen by very many people. She has been keeping a very low-profile as of recently, and living a quiet life with her boyfriend John Mellencamp and her eight-year-old daughter, Daisy.

On the show, Ryan will play Rose, a single mother who decides to return to her New York publishing house where she was once a successful editor. She returns to find that she is now forced to work for Brenda, her neurotic 30-year-old boss, who was originally her intern. She must find a way to balance things out and keep her boss, teenage kids, husband and mother-in-law all happy. This unsurprisingly results in her over-complicating every situation, as she continues to make things worse.

Ryan, at age 51, was forced to drift away from the spotlight after her affair and subsequent divorce from fellow actor Dennis Quaid. They were married for ten years, and it later came out that she had an affair with Russell Crowe.

So sad to hear of the passing of Andy Johns …
    great record producer.
Lovely guy – patient, skilled, funny, encouraging, sharp …
all the qualities you want in someone who is getting your music on to tape.

I remember him as one of the Olympic Studios team in Barnes …
playing around with varying tape speeds and early phasing … with George Chiantz …

Condolences to all the family. Andy was such a great guy.
