  • Miranda Lambert: ‘Platinum’ Debuts at Number One, Blake Shelton Plans Break

Miranda Lambert’s new album ‘Platinum’ debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart, beating out both Frozen and 50 Cent’s new album. This is Lambert’s fifth album, and it sold 180,000 copies in its first week. One of the album’s tracks, called ‘Priscilla,’ is about Priscilla Presley and what Lambert imagines life must have been like for her enduring the wrath of the paparazzi while married to Elvis. She was shocked to received a message from Presley herself about the song.

Priscilla Presley included an Instagram photo of herself and her daughter listening to Lambert’s song.

Miranda was humbled by the recognition and quick with her reply.

It was during this incredibly crazy and exciting week for Miranda Lambert that she experienced a pretty scary ordeal as well. The private jet that she and her team were traveling on had to make an emergency landing after losing pressure. After the plane landed safely Miranda shared a photo of herself and her friends captioned, “Our plane had an emergency landing in Clarksburg WV. But don’t worry, we found platinum fire suits. Yes! #platinum”

In light of the excitement and the frightening aspect of Miranda’s crazy week, hubby Blake Shelton decided she needed a break, so he has made the appropriate preparations. So did The Voice coach arrange to send Miranda to a spa or is he taking her to an exciting city where they’ll stay in a 4-star hotel and check out the sights? No. Instead he fixed up their boat. The two own a boat that’s moored at Lake Texoma.

“I’m not a mechanic, but I managed to get this thing running because I know when she gets back she’s going to want to do something like that,” Blake Shelton said. “She’s going to want to just go float around and drink or be pulled on a tube, something like that. So I figured I’d get me some points here and get the boat running. I’m actually proud of myself.”

Sounds like Blake knows exactly what Miranda needs. And it sounds like the perfect way to cap off the hectic promotion of ‘Platinum’ and the scare in the air that Miranda Lambert and her crew experienced.

The thrill of having a number one album has to mean a great deal to Miranda and Blake Shelton is no doubt incredibly proud of his wife. However at the end of the day both Blake and Miranda are country folks, and nothing takes the place of a quiet, relaxing day like the one they’ll enjoy when she gets back home.

  • Miranda Lambert: “People Are Very, Very Mean”

Miranda Lambert has made a name for herself in the country music world as one of the most successful female artists of all time.

However, with the fame comes the tabloids, gossip, and non-stop rumors. “People are very, very mean,” she said of the tabloids that are constantly trying to bring her down.

The main topic seems to be about her and her husband, another fellow country music superstar Blake Shelton, getting a divorce. Miranda is constantly having to slam these rumors and put the speculation to rest. “There are people who literally, their only job is to make other people miserable, and that’s a terrible way to live your life,” Lambert explained.

The tabloids specifically are one of the many subjects that helped Miranda write the songs for her new album Platinum. Her song Priscilla takes on the tabloids directly, and she wrote it alongside songwriter Natalie Hemby. In the song, Miranda sympathizes with Priscilla Presley and the troubles she must have endured by being Elvis’ wife.

“When I get to write with her I think she just lets her hair down,” Hemby said. “She doesn’t have to be Miranda. I’ve known her before she was big and famous … and I asked how she was doing. She said, ‘According to the press I’m pregnant or I’m fat or I’m getting divorced.’ It just went on and on and I just kind of laughed and said, ‘Well, then you must be really successful.’”

Miranda explained that Platinum is all about her life; the good, bad, and ugly. She has put the trials and tribulations of her life into music, and has created one of her best albums yet. “Loretta Lynn said you’ve got to live a life in order to sing about it,” Miranda said. “That’s what I’m doing. The good, the bad and the ugly is on this record. It’s who I am.”

  • Miranda Lambert Takes on Tabloids in Song from New Album ‘Platinum’

Miranda Lambert knows full well the cruelty the tabloids can inflict. She and husband Blake Shelton have been the subject of several tabloid rumors–most of them saying their marriage is over or that The Voice coach is cheating on his young wife. Lambert is striking back in a sense on her new album Platinum. Her song ‘Priscilla’ takes in account how Priscilla Presley once experienced the same kind of tabloid cruelty that she and Blake have endured.

“People are very, very mean,” she says. “There are people who literally, their only job is to make other people miserable, and that’s a terrible way to live your life.”

In ‘Priscilla’ Miranda takes on the tabloids in a very straightforward way. She identifies with the wife of Elvis Presley, imagining how difficult the tabloids likely made their lives, too.

Songwriter Natalie Hemby worked with Miranda Lambert as she gathered material for Platinum.

Miranda Lambert is learning to ignore what the tabloids say and to live her life in the spotlight more comfortably and confidently. She says her recent significant weight loss is a result of learning to control her emotions. The 30-year-old looks fabulous, but then again most people thought she did before she lost the weight–except maybe those tabloid reporters.

Rest assured that Platinum isn’t all about the tabloids. It also features songs about dumping a boyfriend, her love of flea markets, and how she dislikes getting older–all typical fodder for country music songs. It even features a duet with country superstar Carrie Underwood for whom Lambert bought a motorcycle following their recording session.

Miranda is making the rounds doing TV shows this week to promote her new album. On Tuesday she’ll sing in Times Square as she visits Good Morning America.

Monday night she’ll visit with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.

“Loretta Lynn said you’ve got to live a life in order to sing about it,” Miranda Lambert said. “That’s what I’m doing. The good, the bad and the ugly is on this record. It’s who I am.”

Fans love who Miranda Lambert is. She needs to look to them for validation rather than to the tabloids, whose main purpose is to tell lies and cause trouble.
