  • Hugh Hefner Dressed As Robin Thicke For Halloween

    Hugh Hefner may be getting on in years, but that doesn’t mean he’s ill-informed about pop culture. The Playboy founder chose an infamous recent MTV moment to channel into a Halloween costume, and his wife, Crystal Harris, got into the act as well.

    Hefner, who rarely gets out of his silk pajamas, chose a black-and-white striped pair and coupled it with a golden microphone to emulate Robin Thicke, while Harris rocked a super short nude dress, mini buns, and a foam finger. The duo made a very interesting Robin and Miley, to say the least.

    Other stars chose Miley Cyrus as their Halloween inspiration, as well; Joan Rivers picked a different interpretation, while Paris Hilton went all out with the bodysuit and glittery foam hand.

    Cyrus has spoken a few times about the infamous performance, saying she knew it was a little outrageous but didn’t think it would blow up the way it did.

    “I don’t pay attention to the negative because I’ve seen this play out so many times,” she said. “You’re thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn’t even think about it ’cause that’s just me…How many times have we seen this play out in pop music? Madonna’s done it, Britney’s done it. Every VMA performance… anyone that performs, that’s what you’re looking for. You’re wanting to make history.”

  • Kate Moss Posing for Playboy Just Before Her 40th!

    Kate Moss is doing something most 40-year-olds don’t do to celebrate topping that hill. She’s going nude for Playboy magazine, according to E!, and she’s going to show the world what 40 can be. You know, if real life had airbrushing.

    The issue also celebrates the magazine’s diamond anniversary-60 years of Playboy. The British beauty turns the big 4-0 on January 16th, but the issue comes out in December, and will look back on 60 years of Playboy, starting with the first Playmate, Marilyn Monroe, in 1953. Oh, and let’s not forget the great articles…

    Moss has the approval of Hef. “She’s a worldwide celebrity and iconic and crosses the boundaries from sexual imagry to upscale modeling,” he told the Los Angeles Times, which broke the story on Tuesday.

    “This is a massive global brand,” Jimmy Jellinek, Playboy’s editorial director said of the magazine. “You need a global icon in order to celebrate that — that was the impetus. You’re talking about the face of Burberry, the biggest supermodel in the world on the cover of Playboy. She’s the perfect partner for us to help launch the next 60 years.”

    Kate, who has been the face of high profile campaigns for such designers as Dolce & Gabbana, Calvin Klein and Bulgari, among many others, will reportedly go full frontal, accessorised with cuffs and bunny ears. She shot to fame in the ’90s with her “heroin chic” look, all thanks to her waif-like frame, which makes her one of the top-earning models in the business, earning nearly $20 million in 2012.

    The spread will be shot by fashion favorites Marcus Pigott and Mert Atlas and will be the photo tandem’s first assignment for the recently rebooted and newly upscale Playboy. Fashion fans were first tipped off to Moss’ Playboy shoot with rumors earlier this year that were confirmed in June when Oribe Canales, Kate’s mouthy hairdresser, accidentally divulged that he had worked on her shoot.

    “This creates a heat for the brand globally,” Jellinek said. “It started with Marilyn Monroe on the cover of Playboy 60 years ago, an icon for her time. Now we’ve got Kate Moss!”. Over 60 years, the magazine has provided a reliable cover showcase for nude supermodels with such fashion luminaries as Cindy Crawford, Elle MacPherson, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Stephanie Seymour and Eva Herzigova.

    And for her part, Moss, who’s currently married to Jamie Hince, guitarist for the alt-rock band the Kills, but more famously Johnny Depp’s ex, is no stranger to modeling. The British model has stripped down in the past for Love magazine, Vogue Brazil and the Pirelli calendar as well as ads for David Yurman jewelry and St. Tropez tanning products.

    But Moss’ Playboy cover slot puts her in the company of such curvy cover models as Pamela Anderson, Dolly Parton and the Barbi Twins, all of whom served as the magazine’s forward faces over the years, but all with different shapes, leading to a certain recognition of beauty in all forms.

    Holly Madison Gets Married in Disneyland

    We all know Holly Madison as Playboy creator, Hugh Hefner’s, girlfriend. She appeared on the five seasons of the show “Girls Next Door” which centered around the Playboy life of Hefner and his three girlfriends.

    However, she recently put that life behind her as she married her boyfriend of two years, Pasquale Rotella. This is the first wedding for both of them.

    The newlyweds have been engaged since June. Their daughter was three months old at the time. The engagement occurred at the top of the Ferris Wheel at EDC Las Vegas, she said on her blog soon after the engagement.

    Madison is a hugh fan of Disney so it was no surprise that she chose for her wedding to take place at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The wedding was at the Magic Kingdom around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday late evening, right outside of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in New Orleans Square, according to Us Weekly.

    The couples daughter, Rainbow Aurora, was in attendance at the ceremony. She is six months old.

    On Holly’s blog, she posted Monday saying that she and her new hubby waited until the last minute to get their marriage license. “We did it! Last wedding prep item taken off the checklist-we went and got our marriage license this morning!,” she wrote.

    Holly Madison’s new husband Rotella is the founder and CEO of Insomniac Events. As stated on Celebrity Networth, “Pasquale Rotella is the CEO of Insomniac Events, one of the most successful electronic music promotion and event companies in the world. He is also the creator of the hugely popular Electric Daisy Carnival, which began as a one-day electronica event held in Southern California, and has since expanded.”

  • Playboy Bunny House Up For Sale: $11 Million

    Looking to live in the Playboy Mansion? You can’t. However, a piece of L.A. real estate just went up for sale that could offer Playboy fans a chance to run into Hugh Hefner while getting their mail. Though it’s not the Playboy Mansion itself, it very well could be the next best thing.

    TMZ is reporting that the famed ‘Playboy Bunny house’ is now up for sale. The abode is located directly across the street from the larger and more infamous Playboy Mansion in the Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles. The house is 6,690 square-feet and includes 5 bedrooms, and 6 and a half bathrooms. The place also, of course, has a whale-shaped pool with an “oasis waterfall.”

    The bunny house is known for having housed Playboy centerfolds such as Jayde Nicole, the 2008 Playmate of the Year. It was also home to a portion of the cast of the Playboy reality TV series The Girls Next Door.

  • Mob Wives Star: Playboy Says ‘No Thanks’

    Playboy is undoubtedly inundated each day with hundreds of nude photos from women all over the world who believe they have what it takes to grace the famous magazine’s pages. Nearly all of them are rejected.

    When a celebrity agrees to pose for the magazine, however, Playboy’s high standards for body type and age can be relaxed a little. The magazine has featured pictorials from stars such a Tiffany and Debbie Gibson well into their 30s, and Denise Richards appeared in the magazine just months after giving birth to her first child.

    Not everyone can qualify for such exceptions, though, and with so many reality shows on TV these days there are dozens of semi-celebrities who believe they deserve a place in Playboy. The publication does not agree.

    TMZ this week reported that Pia Rizza, star of reality TV show Mob Wives Chicago, was rejected by Playboy after sending in her nude pictures. The report states that leaked nude photos of Rizza were being sold, and she didn’t want the pics to make money for someone else. The photos were sent to Playboy, who politely informed her that they were not interested.

    Pia Rizza is the daughter of Vincent Rizza, a mobster who testified against The Chicago Outfit and entered the Witness Protection Program.

  • Hefner’s Secretary Dies: Mary O’Connor Worked at the Playboy Mansion For Over 40 Years

    Mary O’Connor, the longtime secretary of Hugh Hefner, has died. Hefner is the publisher of the popular men’s magazine Playboy. O’Connor worked at the Playboy mansion for over 40 years.

    The specific cause of O’Connor’s death has not been released, but it appears that she had been sick in the days leading up to her passing. On January 26 Hefner tweeted that his wife, Crystal, was visiting O’Connor, who was “not doing very well.”

  • Holly Madison Moving Due To Giant Pink Doghouse

    Holly Madison, former girlfriend of Hugh Hefner and Vegas performer, is having some trouble with the homeowners association in her neighborhood. So much trouble, in fact, that she’s willing to move out of her comfy digs while pregnant just to escape their complaints.

    The issue is the giant, human-sized doghouse she had built in her backyard, which is painted pink and, according to the HOA, doesn’t fall within the guidelines of what is allowed on the street. But, Madison contends, it can’t be seen from outside her fence, which makes the entire point moot.

    “They keep fining me for having it painted pink. But the thing about it is I asked the contractor because when I had that thing built, I kind of knew I wasn’t going to stay in this house, and I wanted something I could put on a pallet and take to the next place with me,” she said. “Absolutely, it’s a temporary structure, so it’s not even under their jurisdiction. That would be like harping on someone over their kids’ jungle gym.”

    Madison says the HOA sends her monthly statements fining her $100 for the doghouse, which she refuses to pay. As of now the former Playmate and her boyfriend are set to move out of the neighborhood to start their family. In fact, they already have a place picked out.

    “It’s the cutest neighborhood, and I love how close it is to downtown. It’s quirky and old,” she said. “We’re selling this house. We thought of renting it, but we’re finished here.”

    Hugh Hefner, who is famously engaged to Playmate Crystal Harris for the second time, has given her an enormous diamond to replace the one she sold after their first engagement ended.

    Although it’s not as big as the one Jennifer Aniston has been flaunting, it’s certainly large and sparkly enough to turn some heads. The 26-year old posted photos of the bauble on Twitter under the caption “My beautiful ring from Hugh Hefner”.

  • Hugh Hefner Engaged For Second Time To Same Woman

    Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris were engaged to be married last summer, but Harris suddenly had a change of heart and the nuptials were called off. The Playboy cover girl moved out of the mansion and, in subsequent interviews, bashed Hef’s skills in the sack, saying that sex with him “lasted like two seconds”.

    ”For a while, I’d been having second thoughts about everything, so I haven’t really been at peace with myself lately. It was all just happening too fast for me. I just sat back and thought about it all.” Harris said in an interview. “Is this what I wanted? And it wasn’t.”

    But apparently the couple have made amends, because the wedding is back on and is set for New Year’s Eve at the Playboy mansion. When the pair officially got back together, Hef announced the news on Twitter.

    “Getting back together with Crystal Harris shouldn’t be a big surprise, since I have a history of remaining close to former girlfriends. It’s Mary O’Conner (Hefner’s assistant) that brought Crystal Harris back. Crystal was miserable & said so. Mary told Crystal to write & tell me, which she did.”

    Former Playboy Bunny (and ex-girlfriend of perpetual Playboy Hugh Hefner) Holly Madison dressed up like Princess Aurora–otherwise known as Sleeping Beauty–for Disneyland’s Mickey’s Halloween Party recently, and the web has something to say about it.

    It’s unclear whether commenters think the costume was inappropriate because Madison is pregnant, or because a Bunny shouldn’t sully the good name of a Disney princess, but either way the comment forum got a little wild on E!online.com.

  • Top Party School in America Revealed by Playboy

    Playboy Magazine this week released its list of the top 10 party schools in the U.S. Topping the list is the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.

    If you consider the University of Virginia an odd choice for top party school, you aren’t alone. The Playboy list includes institutions that are more known for their academic prowess than their heavyweight drinkers, such as Vanderbilt University.

    There is some consensus, though: it’s clear that the University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Georgia and University of South Carolina are all major party locations. All of those schools were also listed in the Princeton Review’s list of top party schools back in July.

    Here are Playboy’s top picks for party schools:

  • Kate Middleton’s Cousin Takes Off Her Clothes for Playboy

    Kate Middleton’s cousin, who, by the way, is a stripper, has decided it’s time for her to disrobe for Playboy, according to The Insider. Some days it must really suck to be Kate Middleton. If someone isn’t Photoshopping bad teeth into your mouth or making fun of you for having a frugal wardrobe, then your family members are enjoying some free publicity simply because they’re related to you. Embarrassing barely covers it.

    Katrina Darling isn’t afraid to strip down to her birthday suit, especially when there’s money involved. Playboy is reportedly offering Middleton’s curvy cousin an eight-page pictorial, which is currently scheduled to hit newsstands on August 17th. What’s curious about the whole situation is that Darling doesn’t have a relationship with Kate — she didn’t know they were related until she listened to media reports on the subject — which means she’s just milking her second cousin’s name and popularity for a chance to share a piece of the limelight. Classy.

    “[It would be] awkward to meet Kate. I’m not sure what I would say in that sort of situation. But I’m sure we would find something to laugh about in it all,” Katrina explained in June.

    The unexpected connection to the Duchess of Cambridge has certainly had a positive effect on her career as a stripper. However, the perks of popularity have come with a price. According to Darling, she’s isn’t exactly treated with respect in the press, though, according to her, she doesn’t really pay much attention to such things.

    “I’ve been called God knows what in God knows how many languages. I try not to take the negative attention as a personal attack, I try not to pay attention. I try not try read the press too much, so I don’t know what they’re saying about me,” she explained.

    LeRoy Neiman Dies; Sports Artist Was 91

    LeRoy Neiman, who famously painted gorgeous, colorful portraits of sports figures, has died. He was 91 years old.

    Neiman painted other subjects, as well, but became known in the public eye as an artist for athletes after he was named the official artist for the Olympic games in 1980 and ’84. His vibrant paintings captured the subjects with raw emotion using several sharp brush strokes and a vivid color pallet; he made it look so easy that several people tried to imitate his style. But it was impossible to recreate Neiman’s bold work in the same way.

    “There was always a genuine aspect to it,” said Patty Otis Abel, an editor of his memoir. “It was never phony. This was a genuine guy and a true original.”

    Neiman truly lived life to the fullest and was something of a vessel for our history; after enlisting in the army in 1942, he stormed the beach at Normandy and took on the Battle of the Bulge. After surviving the horrors of war, he came home and enrolled in an art institute on the G.I. Bill, expanding his natural talent. As he began to establish himself as an artist, he made good friends of Muhammed Ali and Playboy founder Hugh Hefner as well as infamous artists Dali and Andy Warhol. He traveled with Frank Sinatra and was at the 1972 Munich Olympics when the terrorist attacks occurred. His life was a work of art in itself, holding all the adventure, creativity, happiness, and horror of at least three lifetimes.

    Neiman worked for Playboy for years, writing a feature called “Man At His Leisure” which ran for 15 years. He also created the enormously popular “Femlin” character, which was used in the magazine for over fifty years.

    Neiman recently published his memoir, “All Told”, which tells all about his fascinating life and the people in it, and celebrated his 91st birthday on June 8th. He passed away of natural causes in a Manhattan hospital.

  • Hugh Hefner and Ex-Fiance Crystal Harris are Together Again

    Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris, the Playboy mogul’s ex-fiance who famously left him days before they were scheduled to tie the knot, are a couple once again. Although Hefner states that he may have dodged a bullet after Harris’ departure in 2010, the pair are officially dating. How did this particular piece of news come about, you ask?     This, of course, is an entirely different song than the one Harris was singing shortly after their split. Following their break-up, Harris paid a visit to Howard Stern’s radio program, where she admitted to Sirius XM listeners across the country that sex with Hefner lasted two minutes. She later added that she wasn’t physically attracted to Hef, leading one to ponder the reasons why, exactly, the two have decided to rekindle their romance.

    Harris, however, wasn’t the only one sharing stories with the media. Hefner was guilty of it, as well. The publisher went on record with Entertainment Weekly, stating, “Quite frankly, I don’t know what I was thinking about. I think my natural state is single. I’ve tried marriage twice, not successfully. These were not the happiest times of my life.”

  • Jenny McCarthy Returns To Playboy’s Pages

    Jenny McCarthy, the bubbly blonde object of many a pre-teen’s lust in the ’90s, is about to grace the pages of Playboy almost twenty years after she became Playmate of the Year.

    McCarthy has been in the news recently because of her rumored romance with footballer Brian Urlacher but has been out of the spotlight for a while, maintaining a rather quiet career with the television show “Two And A Half Men” after causing some controversy over vaccinations and their possible link to autism, which she said was the cause of her own son’s battle with the disorder.

    She has said in the past that she would love to appear in Playboy again but wasn’t hopeful that it would actually happen.

    “I would absolutely pose for Playboy. I would be so flattered if they asked me. It’s probably not going to happen but I think I want to do it again,” she said.

    Her first stint in Playboy landed her a gig as co-host of the MTV dating show “Singled Out”, which only led to more career opportunities. She made the move to film in 1995 with an appearance in “Things To Do In Denver When You’re Dead” and has since built an impressive onscreen resume.

    She is reported to be included in the July issue of Playboy, which will hit stands in mid-June.

  • Groupon Lands In Porn Trouble…Again

    Just two weeks after daily deals company Groupon drew the ire of an anti-porn group for their porn studio tour offer, they are back, pissing off the same group again with a recent Playboy-themed offer.

    Earlier in April, Groupon offered a deal to tour a San Francisco armory, which is actually a 200,000 sq. ft. reproduction of an old Moorish castle. Among the many uses of the castle, the one that stuck out was its use as a porn studio for Kink films (described as “torture” porn by some, BDSM by others). This triggered a boycott sponsored by anti-porn activists Morality in Media. You can see MIM’s executive director Dawn Hawkins talking about it below:

    Now, MIM has another Groupon deal to add to their boycott. Yesterday, Groupon offered a “Rock n’ Roll Fantasy Camp” trip to the Playboy mansion – complete with an appearance from Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler. The package cost $800 and included a concert as well as time hanging out with the Playboy bunnies. Check it out here via Google cache.

    As VIPs disembark from their shuttle, they’ll be beckoned by tour guides through the glamorous, stone-clad grounds to take a swim in the legendary grotto, check out exotic animals in the zoo, and try to figure out which of the six Playboy Bunnies in attendance has real fluffy ears. Guests can expect to mingle with TV personalities, pro athletes, and other celebs into the wee hours or until their entourages turn back into enchanted mice. Rock star glam, dress to impress.

    Do you think that sounds like fun? MIM’s “Porn Harms” campaign definitely does not. Here’s how they amended their boycott petition:

    It is clear that Groupon’s motto is right in line with the pornographers they promote and defend. Playboy’s “it’s a man’s world” philosophy amounts to “use them, abuse them, and discard them.”

    Hawkins suggested to WND that Groupon’s lack of female representation up top might have something to do with what she calls Groupon’s inability to “end its support of the sexual exploitation of women and girls.”

    Hawkins said that while trying to find the names of some women from Groupon’s senior management team, she discovered that there weren’t any.

    “Perhaps that explains why the company is so insensitive to the sexual exploitation of women and girls,” she told WND.

    Of course, porn-related deals aren’t the only kind getting Groupon into hot water. In March, an offer for 58% off a Jeffrey Dahmer tour sparked quite a bit of controversy.

    I’m not sure that a Steven Tyler concert at the Playboy mansion amounts to supporting the sexual exploitation of women, but apparently some anti-porn activist are pretty convinced.   • Hugh Hefner’s Son Pled Guilty to Harming Playmate of the Year

    Hugh Hefner’s 21-year-old son, Marston, pled no contest to a charge of domestic violence. Apparently he got into an altercation with his playmate girlfriend Claire Sinclair.

    Marston supposedly punched Claire, kicked her in the stomach, and wouldn’t let her leave their home.

    According to Pasadena assistant city prosecutor, Chris Blankenhorn, Marston is scheduled to be sentenced on June 12 in Pasadena after entering his plea on Tuesday to the charge of corporal injury to a cohabitant.

    Hefner is expected to receive no jail time. Instead, he will have to pay for and attend one year of domestic violence counseling and refrain from any contact with Sinclair for three years.

    Hugh Hefner told Fox News that Claire’s style reminded him of Bettie Page, a popular 1950s pinup model who was also Playboy Magazine’s Miss January cover model in 1955.

    In the following YouTube video Claire said her relationship with Marston was going well, “But said it was very tumultuous, to be honest — we’re very good friends when it comes down to it. I am blessed to have someone who is so supportive.

    She may have even implied that Marston was very possessive, “Marston travels out to see me no matter what I am doing.”

    When she was asked if wedding bells were in the future she said, “Hell No! Hell No!”

    The couple have been dating off and on since 2010.

    During an interview with Maximo TV in November, Claire dominated Marston and hardly let him answer questions from the reporter.

    Claire said she wouldn’t press charges on her boyfriend if he apologized publicly and received psychiatric treatment.

    Hopefully Claire will move on from this unfortunate experience and have a safe and wonderful life.

  • Hugh Hefner’s Son Pleads No Contest To Domestic Violence Charge

    Hugh Hefner, the infamous founder of Playboy magazine, is in headlines today after his 21-year old son Marston pleaded no contest to charges of domestic violence filed by his girlfriend, Playmate Claire Sinclair.

    Sentencing will be on June 12 and will likely include at least one year of domestic abuse counseling and a court order to stay away from Sinclair for three years. Sinclair, who was Playmate of the year in 2011, says Marston kicked and punched her during an argument. Marston reportedly told police that the two of them had argued, but it never got physical. He was eventually arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence and was later released on $20,000 bail.

    After the model filed an emergency restraining order against her boyfriend in February, she was photographed while removing her belongings from the apartment they shared sporting a large bruise on her upper arm.

    Lindsay Lohan To Get Naked For Playboy, Spawns Fun Twitter Hashtag

    The Lindsay Lohan situation takes another interesting turn, this time away from the courthouse and into the penthouse, if you will.

    TMZ is reporting that Lohan is in the process of shooting photos for Playboy magazine, the culmination of a deal that has been in the works for quite a while. What’s the going rate for some Lohan nudes these days? Apparently, $1 million.

    According to the sources, Lohan was originally offered $750K, but turned down that paltry sum. One million was apparently enough, as they say shooting began last weekend.

    If you remember correctly, Lohan was dealing with some legal issues this past weekend as well.

    Of course, the Playboy spread wouldn’t be the first time that the world gets a glimpse at the celebrity in the nude. A few years ago, Lohan did a spread of semi-nude photos for New York magazine. The series of photographs was taken to mimic “The Last Sitting,” an impromptu 1962 photo shoot with Marilyn Monroe. The same photographer that shot Monroe, Bert Stern, also shot Lohan.

    Maybe it’s the fact that they’ve seen it before, or maybe it has something to do with Lohan’s recent antics and behavior, but an interesting Twitter hashtag has taken off today. Here’s the best of #PeopleIdRatherSeeInPlayboyThanLindsayLohan –

    Upon further review, it looks like the hashtag is the work of @EricStangel (executive producer and head writer of The Late Show with David Letterman) and brother Justin_Stangel (also a head writer).

  • Playboy’s Nudity Allowed On YouTube [UPDATE]

    YouTube consistently takes down content that it deems inappropriate for various reasons. They outline specific guidelines in their Terms of Service that give them the right to remove content at their sole discretion. They also have a Community Guidelines page that gives tips about certain types of content and explains whether or not it qualifies as acceptable material to be showcased on the site.

    It’s common knowledge that YouTube frowns upon nudity. Right? Point number one on the community guidelines page says this:

    YouTube is not for pornography or sexually explicit content. If this describes your video, even if it’s a video of yourself, don’t post it on YouTube.

    We all know that real pornography and most all nudity is not allowed on the site. Any video claiming to feature “Hot Hot Sex” or “Blake Lively Nude” will always be a joke and/or spammy video filled with links to other websites.

    So why does Playboy’s Morning Show Channel have clips of topless girls playing basketball?

    Playboy’s Morning Show is broadcast on Sirius satellite radio and as would be expected, often times features mature content. Now, nudity doesn’t bother me in any way, shape or form. And I’m certainly no spoilsport. But I have to wonder why these videos are allowed to be on YouTube?

    Looking deeper at the community guideline tips, you find a specific section on “Sex and Nudity.” Let’s take a look:

    Most nudity is not allowed, particularly if it is in a sexual context. Generally if a video is intended to be sexually provocative, it is less likely to be acceptable for YouTube. There are exceptions for some educational, documentary, scientific, and artistic content, but only if that is the sole purpose of the video and it is not gratuitously graphic. For example, a documentary on breast cancer would be appropriate, but posting clips out of context from the documentary might not be.

    Ok, there are exceptions. That’s why there are tons of how-to breast exam videos on the site. Understandable. Let’s see if the “Machine Gun Titays” or “Slam Dunk” videos fall into any of these exception categories. Educational? Not really. Documentary? Like National Geographic? Scientific? Probably not, this picture is kind of grainy. Artistic? I guess the argument could be made, but c’mon.

    I’m pretty sure bouncing boobies slam dunking a tiny hoops goal is closer to “gratuitously graphic.”

    Another point about these videos – they are accessible without signing in, therefore bypassing the “mature content warning” that YouTube places on some questionable videos. (Note, this video pictured below that requires a sign in contains no nudity, but some definite near-nudity)

    Of course, kids can lie about their age and say they are 18 – that’s not news. So YouTube’s sign-in safeguard isn’t going to prevent most young kids from watching mature content if they really want to do so. But it is strange that the two Playboy show videos in question can be accessed without said log-in. The Playboy Morning Show’s Twitter account even tweeted a link to the video, which naturally doesn’t require a log-in:

    And it’s not like these videos were posted minutes ago and YouTube simply hasn’t had time to react. The two videos in question were posted 2 and 5 days ago, respectively.

    Let me reiterate how not upset I am about nudity on YouTube – not in the slightest. I’m just saying that if I put a video of my girlfriend playing naked basketball on the site, it probably wouldn’t last 5 days. What gives?

    Recently, YouTube came under fire for banning a video from the group Mercy for Animals that shows hidden camera footage of workers at a slaughterhouse mistreating calves. It’s some brutal stuff. They eventually reinstated the video. YouTube does have a specific policy on shocking and disturbing videos, even making reference of slaughter houses:

    If a video is particularly graphic or disturbing, it should be balanced with additional context and information. For instance, including a clip from a slaughter house in a video on factory farming may be appropriate. However, stringing together unrelated and gruesome clips of animals being slaughtered in a video may be considered gratuitous if its purpose is to shock rather than illustrate

    Maybe YouTube hasn’t noticed the Playboy videos yet. Maybe they have and believe it falls under one of their nudity exception rules. Either way, the common knowledge that stuff like that isn’t allowed on YouTube looks busted as of right now.
