  • Pia Wurtzbach: Miss Universe Dances With Denver Broncos Cheerleaders, Does “The Dab” Ahead of Super Bowl

Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe, was spotted dancing with the Denver Broncos cheerleaders on Friday, just ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl. She joined the squad for an early morning practice and shared snippets via social media.

“Early morning practice with the Broncos Cheerleaders. #?? -Pia,” she captioned this short video clip of dance practice.

“I’ve got a really big team. #? -Pia,” Pia Wurtzbach captioned this photo of herself posing with the Denver Broncos cheerleaders.

Does all this mean Pia Wurtzbach is performing with the Denver Broncos cheerleaders at the Super Bowl on Sunday?

    No.

Instead, in her official capacity as Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach is reporting as a special correspondent from the Super Bowl for the TV show Inside Edition.

To ensure she isn’t–or at least hasn’t–chosen signs in Sunday’s face off between the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers, Pia Wurtzbach joined members of both teams as they taught her how to dance “the dab,” which became a trend, thanks to Panther’s star Cam Newton.

Even if you’re not a football fan, there’s always something fun to watch on Super Bowl Sunday. In addition to the fun advertisements and the great halftime show, non-fans now know they can tune in to get a glimpse of Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, too.

  • Pia Wurtzbach: Miss Universe Visits Wounded Soldiers in the Philippines, Plans to Be Tested for HIV

Pia Wurtzbach is back in the Philippines and firmly ensconced in her Miss Universe duties, now that the drama over Steve Harvey’s announcement mistake during the Miss Universe Pageant is finally subsiding.

In addition to parades and a bevy of events to welcome her home, Pia Wurtzbach is honoring those who deserve accolades far more than any beauty queen. In recent days she visited V. Luna General Hospital in Quezon City, where she spent time with wounded soldiers on what the hospital calls its Heroes Ward 3A.

Pia Wurtzback also visited children while at the hospital, many of whom were patients of Smile Train–a medical organization that provides surgery for children born with cleft lips and palates.

Doctors and staff at the hospital noted their appreciation of Pia Wurtzbach’s visit by bestowing her with gifts. Miss Universe received a patch, a name plate, and a Philippine flag.

Contestants in the Miss Universe Pageant must have an advocacy to which they dedicate their time and notoriety. Pia Wurtzbach’s is HIV awareness. In the coming days she plans not only to visit patients with HIV/AIDS, but to get tested for the disease in her attempt to take away the stigma attached to getting tested. She will travel to the U.S. to be tested.

“To take out the stigma, somebody has to step forward and do something so other people can follow suit. What we are planning to do is to have my HIV test in New York. It will be a public testing so I can show everybody how easy it is to do and how important it is, I hope it can help, even just a little,” Pia Wurtzbach explains.

The coming year will be a very busy one for Pia Wurtzbach as she assumes the many duties of Miss Universe. Kudos to her for visiting wounded soldiers and taking on issues that can benefit people from all around the world.

  • Steve Harvey to Welcome Miss Colombia and Miss Universe to His Show Monday and Tuesday

Steve Harvey will welcome Miss Colombia and Miss Universe as guests on The Steve Harvey Show on Monday and Tuesday of next week, in a two-episode special called Miss Universe: The Truth.

Harvey served as host of the Miss Universe Pageant back on December 20, and inadvertently crowned Miss Colombia–Ariadna Gutierrez–the winner, when in fact, Miss Philippines–Pia Wurtzbach–won.

“This has caused a lot of sleepless nights for me,” Steve Harvey says in a promo clip for next week’s shows. “I didn’t do any interviews until I could talk to the two people who were affected the most, Pia and Ariadna. No matter how tough it was for me, I can’t imagine how it was for these two women. This finally gives me a chance to have a moment of closure.”

Those sleepless nights might also have been caused–in part, anyway–to Steve Harvey and his family receiving death threats for the mistake he made while hosting the Miss Universe Pageant.

In Monday’s episode, the real Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach, tells Steve Harvey she forgives him for initially crowning someone else the winner.

“Don’t beat yourself up for this anymore. Let’s move forward, let’s just be happy,” the new Miss Universe says.

In the second part of the special, Ariadna Gutierrez, the reigning Miss Colombia, talks about how Steve Harvey’s mistake has affected her. She also talks about whether or not she is ready to forgive the pageant host.

Kudos to Steve Harvey for taking the high road in this unfortunate situation. The man made an honest mistake. He certainly shouldn’t be the victim of death threats.

Hopefully by hosting both Miss Universe and Miss Colombia on The Steve Harvey Show, the entire situation can finally be put to rest.

  • Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach–Now Miss Universe–Defends Steve Harvey Despite Pageant Gaffe

Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach was crowned Miss Universe on December 20, but not until an embarrassing mistake was made. Pageant host Steve Harvey inadvertently crowned Miss Colombia Adriadna Gutierrez the new Miss Universe before realizing he made a mistake.

Miss Colombia was immediately dethroned and Miss Philippines was finally crowned the winner.

Critics have bashed Steve Harvey constantly in the two weeks since the pageant aired. Some even accused him of creating the blunder for media attention–something he vehemently denies.

Harvey has requested a face to face meeting with Miss Colombia so he can apologize privately for the embarrassment he caused her, but she has refused to meet with him.

Miss Philippines, the new Miss Universe, however, sings Steve Harvey’s praises, calling the host of The Steve Harvey Show and Family Feud a “breath of fresh air.”

Pia Wurtzbach even things the host should return to emcee next year’s Miss Universe Pageant.

“Yeah, why not?” the former Miss Philippines said. “I think he’s a breath of fresh air. He made us feel very relaxed, the contestants. It makes us show our personalities a little bit more. I think that benefits everybody, especially the viewers.”

Miss Philippines-turned-Miss Universe has her own theory as to why Steve Harvey made his on-air mistake. She notes that the first runner-up’s name–Miss Colombia–was written is much larger font than that of pageant winner Miss Philippines.

“The way it was written, it was a little confusing,” she said. “I understand. It was his first time to judge a pageant, but it’s OK. He’s human. People make mistakes.”

Don’t you think it’s time everyone moved on from Steve Harvey’s pageant gaffe? It was no doubt an honest mistake. Miss Philippines is the winner of the pageant regardless of which name was initially read.

  • Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez Cried Many Tears Following Steve Harvey’s Miss Universe Pageant Gaffe, Won’t Talk With Pageant Host

Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez Cried Many Tears Following Steve Harvey’s Miss Universe Pageant Gaffe, Won’t Talk With Pageant Host

Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez admits she cried many tears following Steve Harvey’s gaffe at the Miss Universe Pageant on December 20. Miss Colombia was inadvertently crowned the pageant winner in an honest mistake. Miss Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach, was the real winner of the Miss Universe Pageant, meaning Miss Colombia was crowned, then had that crown taken away.

It was during a recent interview with Univision that Miss Colombia talked about how devastated she was after the mistake was revealed.

“I went up to my parents’ room and, obviously, I was very sad, I was in bad shape, I was crying. I cried a ton that night,” she said.

Steve Harvey read the card incorrectly, as Miss Colombia was the first runner-up instead of the pageant winner.

“In four minutes they destroy your dreams, they throw it in a bag, and they throw it in the trash,” Miss Colombia said.

“They could have done it another way. I feel like it doesn’t matter to them the feelings of a girl who has worked her whole life for a dream,” she added.

Steve Harvey addressed his mistake during his radio show on December 21. He denied rumors he announced Miss Colombia as the winner as part of a publicity stunt.

“Why the hell would I do that?” he said, noting that he was “already famous. Do you really think I wanted to be famous like this?”

Harvey says the moments before and after the mistake were chaotic.

“Now I got a guy in my ear going, ‘We gotta do something! We gotta do something!’ That’s all I’m hearing, all the confusion everybody backstage. So I took it upon myself and I walked out there to do something,” he said.

Steve Harvey says even though what was written on the card he read from and the teleprompter were different, he still takes full responsibility for the embarrassing, hurtful gaffe.

“Did I make a mistake? Yes, I did. Wholeheartedly,” he said. “At this point of the game I’m not in the finger pointing business and rolling other people under the bus.”

Harvey has expressed an interest in speaking to Miss Colombia, to apologize for his mistake, but she reportedly won’t talk with him.

Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach didn’t find some people’s suggestion to share the crown with Miss Colombia a possibility.

“I think it would be a little bit difficult for two girls to share a crown, but I have high hopes that this will give great opportunities for me and Miss Colombia and the rest of the contestants,” she told Lara Spencer during an interview on Good Morning America.

While it’s no surprise Miss Colombia shed many tears following the pageant mishap, many still believe the end result should have been different, with both women sharing the crown.

How do you think Steve Harvey’s pageant announcement mistake should have been handled? Do you think it was handled the best way possible?

  • Miss Universe Dismisses Idea Of Sharing Her Crown With Miss Colombia

Two weeks after pageant host Steve Harvey announced the wrong winner, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach broke her silence about the idea of sharing the win with first runner-up Miss Colombia, and the newly-crowned beauty queen thinks it would not be easy.

Wurtzbach appeared on Good Morning America on January 4 to talk about the mixup and to discuss if she is willing to share the crown with Miss Colombia, who was stripped off the Miss Universe title a few moments after Harvey declared her the winner.

“I think it would be a little bit difficult for two girls to share a crown,” Wurtzbach told show host Lara Spencer.

“…but I have high hopes that this will give great opportunities for me and Miss Colombia and the rest of the contestants,” she continued.

Wurtzbach received a lot of criticism after winning the title but said she is not taking it personally as she understands why fans of Miss Colombia are enraged by the embarrassing incident.

During the interview, Wurtzbach also revealed that she took the initiative to reach out to Gutierrez and wished her a happy birthday on December 25. She said Miss Colombia “seems like she’s okay.”

Miss Universe 2016 Pia Wurtzbach Appears on Good Morning America

The 26-year-old Miss Universe believes that more exciting opportunities await Miss Colombia in the future. “I know that she’s a beautiful young lady – very talented. I think that she’ll have a lot of other opportunities,” she said.

Wurtzbach also thinks Harvey should be given another chance to host Miss Universe next year. She commended the comedian for making them feel at ease during the pageant.

As for her Miss Universe duties, the Filipino-German actress will focus on a host of social causes which includes disaster relief and HIV awareness. She said she is excited to begin her mission as an ambassador of change and goodwill. “It’s surreal. I’m so happy,” she said.

  • Miss Universe: Fans Create Dolls In Beauty Queen’s Likeness

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach has inspired two of her avid Filipino fans to create dolls in her likeness.

Ian Mendejar, a fan of the newly crowned Miss Universe, unveiled his Pia Wurtzbach doll on Instagram, complete with the blue gown similar to the one she wore during the finals.

Mendejar, who has already made three Pia dolls so far, said this is how he shows his gratitude toward Wurtzbach who made every Filipinos’ Christmas very special. Philippines has not had a Miss Universe in 42 years.

“@piawurtzbach gave me and all the Filipinos the best Christmas gift after winning the Miss Universe 2015 title and now it’s my time to give her a Christmas gift…” Mendejar wrote on his Instagram on Sunday, December 28.

“Hello Universe! Please welcome MISS UNIVERSE DOLL, a doll version of Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach wearing an @albertandrada creation (amazing creation) made by me. This is actually my 4th Pia Doll. I hope you like it. Merry Christmas #PiaDoll #MissUniverseDoll #missuniverse2015,” Mendejar added.

His first Pia doll was inspired by the evening gown Wurtzbach wore at the Binibining Pilipinas pageant. He made “Pia Doll version 3.0,” which donned an outfit similar to Wurtzbach’s peach backless Star Magic Ball gown as well.

Mendejar has also made dolls for Miss Universe 2012 first runner-up Janine Tugonon and Miss Globe 2015 Ann Loraine Colis.

Oscar Antonio, another ardent fan of Wurtzbach’s, also created dolls as a tribute to the beauty queen. One of the dolls wore a red gown which resembles the evening dress Wurtzbach wore in the Miss Universe preliminaries. The other replica donned a blue gown, similar to the one she wore in Las Vegas, and wore the Miss Universe crown.

  • Miss Universe Lauds Miss Colombia Following Uncomfortable Pageant Gaffe

Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines, lauded first runner-up Miss Colombia–Ariadna Gutierrez–following the uncomfortable gaffe made by pageant host Steve Harvey during last weekend’s pageant.

Taking to social media, Miss Universe said she feels “bonded” with Miss Colombia, calling her “strong and beautiful.”

“Wow. Words can’t describe how grateful I am for this. It was quite a journey getting here with 3 attempts at winning Miss Philippines. Now, I finally got the best Christmas gift ever – and not just for me, for my country. I’d like to say thank you to everyone who believed in my potential and those who supported me from the beginning. To everyone who voted for me, especially to my fellow countrymen, thank you. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat. To Ariadna, you are an amazing woman and we are now bonded together forever by a unique experience. In the last 3 weeks we were together, I saw how strong and beautiful you are inside and out. You represented your country with honor and I know how proud everyone must be of you. Fate has a plan for you, and I’m excited to see what’s ahead. And to all the fans who are still fighting about this. Please let’s all stop now. The Miss Universe,” Pia Wurtzbach captioned her Instagram post.

In keeping with pageant niceties, Miss Colombia returned the compliment, congratulation Miss Philippines on her Miss Universe win.

“After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this. I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes… Today because of that COLOMBIA and the LATIN COMMUNITY are being talked about in every corner of the world. I also want to congratulate the Philippines for their new Miss Universe ??. The happiness that you must be feeling must be incredible. Life continues and in the future we will find out why things happen the way they happen. Thank you all for your LOVE SUPPORT and KINDNESS,” she captioned a photo of herself making a heart with her hands.

Even though Miss Philippines is the rightful winner of her Miss Universe crown, one can’t help but feel Miss Colombia got a raw deal. Not only did she have the crown removed from her head, she also suffered some humiliation over such a public demotion.

Hopefully Miss Colombia will pull herself up by her bootstraps, and hold her head up high. She achieved a goal about which many women only dream. She placed second out of countless contestants from around the world.

  • Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach Praises Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez Following Pageant Blunder

Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach, praised Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, in a very kind social media message after pageant host Steve Harvey crowned the wrong girl with the Miss Universe title.

“Wow. Words can’t describe how grateful I am for this. It was quite a journey getting here with 3 attempts at winning Miss Philippines. Now, I finally got the best Christmas gift ever – and not just for me, for my country. Fate has a plan for you, and I’m excited to see what’s ahead. And to all the fans who are still fighting about this. Please let’s all stop now. The Miss Universe,” she captioned her Instagram post.

Miss Colombia also shared a message via social media following the Miss Universe Pageant.

“After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. Despite her message of gratitude, there is no way Miss Colombia doesn’t harbor some resentment over what happened at the Miss Universe Pageant. While she likely doesn’t feel that resentment toward Miss Philippines, who was crowned Miss Universe, she likely holds the pageant–or Steve Harvey–responsible for some of her disappointment and embarrassment.

  • Pia Wurtzbach, the Reigning Miss Universe, Offers Words of Encouragement to Ariadna Gutiérrez After Pageant Scandal

Pia Wurtzbach, the reigning Miss Universe, has offered words of encouragement to Miss Columbia Ariadna Gutiérrez after the pageant scandal that left the world stunned.

Wurtzbach was crowned Miss Universe under dramatic circumstances, after host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Miss Columbia Ariadna Gutiérrez as the winner.

In the wake of the misshap, the world came alongside Gutiérrez in support, including Wurtzbach, who says the two are “bonded forever.”

In an Instagram post, Wurtzbach offered words of encouragement for the runner-up.

“To Ariadna, you are an amazing woman and we are now bonded together forever by a unique experience. In the last 3 weeks we were together, I saw how strong and beautiful you are inside and out. • Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach Sends Sweet Message to Miss Colombia Following Pageant Blunder

Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach (Miss Philippines) sent a very sweet message via social media to Miss Colombia this week, following the blunder on behalf of pageant host Steve Harvey, who first named Miss Colombia the pageant winner.

Fate has a plan for you, and I’m excited to see what’s ahead. And to all the fans who are still fighting about this. Please let’s all stop now. The Miss Universe,” she captioned her Instagram post.

Miss Colombia shared her own Instagram message with her followers after the Miss Universe Pageant gaffe.

“After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. Thank you all for your LOVE SUPPORT and KINDNESS,” she captioned her post.

Despite these two beauty queens reaching out to one another via social media, some reports say Steve Harvey is a hated man in Colombia because of the mistake he made in announcing the wrong winner of the Miss Universe Pageant.

Certainly Colombians are known for taking their beauty pageants very seriously, but doesn’t that seem a bit extreme to you?

  • Miss Philippines–Now Miss Universe: Did She Date President of Philippines?

Miss Philippines was crowned Miss Universe on Sunday, following host Steve Harvey’s gaffe in first crowning Miss Colombia with the title. After the real pageant winner was announced, rumors began circulating about Pia Wurtzbach, with some saying she dated the president of the Philippines, Benigno Aquino III.

It was this past March that Miss Philippines appeared on a talk show hosted by the president’s sister, Kris Aquino. When asked about the president, and a possible romantic link, then-Miss Philippines (now Miss Universe) was coy.

“I know him,” she said. “I talk to him, yes. He’s very fun to talk to.”

The talk show host isn’t just the president’s sister. Because he is a bachelor, she is the first lady. She claims she and three of their sisters wanted to match Miss Philippines up with their brother, but she didn’t seem interested.

“She could have denied [that they were dating],” Kris Aquino said. “I don’t think she liked Noy–I think she entertained him but the thing is, you can tell from her character [that she’s] single-minded.”

That certainly doesn’t reflect kindly on Miss Philippines–now the reigning Miss World–does it?

Regardless of the relationship–or non-relationship–between the former Miss Philippines and the president of the Philippines, his office issued a statement when she was crowned Miss Universe on Sunday.

“Today, the whole country unites in celebration over Ms. Pia Wurtzbach’s coronation as Miss Universe in the 2015 pageant in Las Vegas, USA,” the statement from the president’s spokesperson read. “Throughout her journey, Ms. Wurtzbach showcased to the world the characteristic beauty, intelligence, and elegance for which Filipinas are renowned. In the first few moments of the original announcement, she showed tremendous poise and control, and even more tremendous graciousness when the real verdict was finally announced. We congratulate her for this success as the third Miss Universe of the Philippines, following in the footsteps of Ms. Gloria Diaz and Ms. Margie Moran-Floirendo.”

Will the president congratulate the former Miss Philippines personally when she returns home as Miss Universe? Has he given up on her even though she didn’t seem interested in him?

  • Miss Colombia Addresses Miss Universe Debacle in Instagram Post

Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, was inadvertently crowned Miss Universe during Sunday night’s pageant when host Steve Harvey made an embarrassing gaffe. The real winner was Miss Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach. Within minutes, Miss Colombia was stripped of the crown she believed she won, and it was awarded to its rightful owner instead.

After a few days of silence, Miss Colombia addressed the Miss Universe Pageant debacle via an Instagram post.

Thank you all for your LOVE SUPPORT and KINDNESS,” she captioned a photo of herself.

Miss Colombia also shared a photo of herself wearing the Miss Universe crown.

“POR SIEMPRE TU MISS UNIVERSO!! COLOMBIA !!!!!!!” she captioned it. That translates into “Forever your Miss Universe! Colombia!”

Miss Colombia has been gracious in the days since Miss Philippines was crowned Miss Universe. Steve Harvey has apologized profusely.

Fortunately for all involved, it’s unlikely this kind of mistake will be made during a pageant again.
