  • Miss Colombia Gets Spoofed At People’s Choice Awards

Steve Harvey’s legendary Miss Universe blunder, in which he mistakenly announced Miss Colombia as the beauty pageant’s winner, got spoofed during this year’s People’s Choice Awards.

The night’s emcee, actress Jane Lynch said she would give a special award to someone who has never won a People’s Choice Award before. That deserving recipient was actor and comedian Thomas Lennon from The Odd Couple.

Lennon came up on stage, surprised and seemingly humbled by the recognition, but his acceptance speech was interrupted when Lynch took over the microphone to announce there was a huge mistake.

“I’m sorry, I have to apologize here. First runner-up is Tom Lennon. The winner is MISS COLOMBIA,” Lynch announced to crowd’s cheers.

A fake Miss Colombia took center stage and snagged the trophy from the shocked comedian.

“Listen, it’s my fault. I didn’t bother to come to dress rehearsal. Man, I just read the card wrong. I’m so sorry,” Lynch told the crowd, poking fun at Harvey’s huge Miss Universe fail.

Miss Colombia Finally ‘Wins’ at the 2016 People’s Choice Awards

Many are wondering how the real Miss Colombia is now feeling as the experience of being stripped of the title of Miss Universe after just a few minutes was surely embarrassing for Colombia’s representative, Ariadna Gutierez.

Miss Colombia reportedly told Univision that she “cried a ton” after she was de-crowned.

“I went up to my parents’ room and obviously, I was very sad, I was in bad shape, I was crying. I cried a ton that night,” she confessed.

“In four minutes they destroy your dreams, they throw it in a bag, and they throw it in the trash,” Gutierez said, disappointed with how the situation was handled.

Gutierez also said mistakes are bound to happen on live TV and that she forgives Harvey.

“Maybe the way it was written, it was a little confusing. I understand. It was his first time to judge a pageant, but it’s OK. He’s human. People make mistakes,” said Miss Colombia.

  • Portia de Rossi: ‘Scandal’ Return ‘Exciting,’ ‘Amazing’

Portia de Rossi recently dished about the return of ABC’s Scandal, calling the new season both ‘exciting‘ and ‘amazing.’ She teased about the show’s return from midseason break while she and wife Ellen DeGeneres walked the red carpet at the People’s Choice Awards last Wednesday.

“What I’m reading now, and what we’re doing that will air at the end of the month, it’s kind of amazing,” de Rossi shared.

“[It’s] very exciting,” she added while speaking to ET.

The former Ally McBeal star still wouldn’t spill the beans, however. There were absolutely no spoilers leaked from her lips to ET’s mic. Portia de Rossi plays the role of Elizabeth North, whose conniving schemes are beginning to come unraveled. It’s the kind of role that de Rossi has said she’s wanted since Scandal first began.

Even Ellen DeGeneres wouldn’t spill any of the Scandal beans.

“She comes home and starts talking about her day, like anybody who wants to share their day… but I don’t want to know her day! Because I’m a fan, and I want to see it like everybody else,” DeGeneres said.

“So I know things that are happening that are cray-cray,” Ellen added.

It seems fans will simply have to wait to see Portia de Rossi in her role as Elizabeth North when Scandal returns will new episodes beginning on January 29th. Check her–and the rest of the Scandal cast, including Kerry Washington, Guillermo Díaz, and more–at 8:00 PM.

  • Anna Faris: Why Hubby Chris Pratt Won’t Join Her on Red Carpet

Anna Faris will cohost the People’s Choice Awards later this evening (Wednesday, January 7th), however her husband Chris Pratt likely won’t be on hand for the red carpet stroll. Their two-year-old son Jack is scheduled for eye surgery on Thursday morning, so Chris may stay home with him instead. Jack was born nine weeks premature back in August of 2012, and some health problems have followed.

Allison Janney, with whom Anna Faris costars in Mom is the People’s Choice Awards cohost for the evening, and also Faris’s date for the night in her husband’s absence.

“I don’t think I could do it with anybody else right now,” Faris explains.

“She’s gonna be rippin’ the skin off my arms. I’m actually really glad that we’re doing it together because I don’t think I could do it alone. I feel very comfortable with her up there,” Allison Janney told People magazine.

Anna Faris explained the situation behind her husband’s purported absence Wednesday night during an interview with ET Canada.

“My son is having eye surgery the next morning, so we’ll see what happens–[Chris] may come, but he may not,” she told them.

She did admit to being obsessed with Allison Janney.

“You may think that it’s a joke, but I truly do have an obsession with my costar,” Faris said. “I think we’re both feeling really lucky right about now that we get along so well and that we love each other.”

“Neither one of us is a diva,” Janney added. “We both get it and we both appreciate our jobs and we love that we get to do what we do, and we enjoy being silly and funny and playing.”

“I have a wonderful husband and a beautiful child and a great job, an amazing costar,” she shared.

There’s no question that Anna Faris is grateful. She will be grateful for her evening as People’s Choice Awards cohost–whether or not hubby Chris Pratt is able to come–and no doubt even more grateful when son Jack has emerged successfully from his eye surgery on Thursday.

Will you be checking Anna Faris and Allison Janney out as they host tonight’s event? Tune in to CBS at 9:00 for the festivities.

  • Jessica Biel: Is There A Baby On Board?

Jessica Biel: Is There A Baby On Board?

Is Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel’s marriage on the rocks? Apparently the couple has not been seen together in public in quite some time, and fans are starting to wonder.

During the American Music Awards in November, Biel was no where to be seen, even though Timberlake was taking home several awards. Biel was absent again during Wednesday night’s People’s Choice Awards, where Timberlake also bagged several awards.

Despite Biel being missing from the crowd, Timberlake did acknowledge his wife briefly while accepting his awards. “Thank you! I would like to thank Ellen for all the personal inspiration and the cookies — bakes a hell of a cookie,” Timberlake said. “No, I’d like to thank my parents for continuing to instill in me that no dream is too big. “I’d like to thank all the fans who voted. I’ll take it — people’s champ, I love it. And I’d like to thank my beautiful wife for teaching me patience and the little things like just putting the dishes in the dish washer. It goes a long way — fellas, you’re welcome!”

According to a celebrity gossip site Blind Gossip, Biel is pregnant and showing, which is why she is staying out of the public eye. “He is a very talented multi-hyphenate. She is an actress. Together, they are one very good-looking (and very rich) couple. However, they haven’t been seen together much lately. Is their marriage in trouble? No. In fact, they will be announcing in the next couple of weeks… that she is pregnant with their first child! She is already showing, which explains why she has been avoiding the cameras lately. Congratulations to the happy couple!”

  • Christina Aguilera Spotted Makeup Free

    Christina Aguilera Spotted Makeup Free

Christina Aguilera was all dolled up for the Peoples Choice Awards on Wednesday, but was seen earlier that day sans any makeup at all. The Voice coach and longtime boyfriend Matt Rutler were spotted out and about in L.A. and Aguilera wore no makeup–sporting a fresh faced look that was natural and pretty. Christina previously recorded her appearance at the Peoples Choice Awards, and in it she made reference to her recent weight loss, which looks pretty spectacular, too.

Even without makeup Aguilera has a beautiful complexion. She hid behind big sunglasses and wore a beanie in an effort to hide her identity, but there’s no mistaking the 33-year-old singer. Even though she keeps a low profile on the streets of L.A., she’s had no problem showing off her new svelte body on The Voice. Her weight loss has certainly upped her confidence and she has shown off that new confidence lately in a number of racy outfits.

Christina Aguilera will skip the upcoming season of The Voice, giving Shakira yet another season to fill her spot. Usher will once again fill in for Cee Lo Green. Both Christina and Cee Lo will return for the following season. On this past season of The Voice, Christina showed off both her fit form and her singing voice in a duet with Lady Gaga.

Do you prefer Christina Aguilera with or without her makeup? One look at her newly defined body and a good listen to those healthy vocal cords and no one will care whether she’s wearing makeup or not!

  • Jessica Biel, Justin Timberlake On The Rocks? Maybe, Maybe Not

Lately there’s been a lot of chatter about Total Recall actress Jessica Biel, and her R&B crooning husband Justin Timberlake. For the past couple months, the celebrity couple has been battling the constant divorce rumors, as the media keeps hinting toward  ‘trouble in paradise’. But why?

Biel and Timberlake haven’t actually been seen together publicly for quite some time. However, its not just the public moments where the paparazzi are breaking their necks for a picture of them walking down a street. Its the big events, and the most recent fire alarm went off this week.

On Wednesday, Jan. 8, the “Suit & Tie” singer showed up at the 2013 People’s Choice Awards without his wife. According to US Magazine, Timberlake the singer did thank his ‘beautiful wife’ during his acceptance speech when he won the award for ‘Favorite Male Artist’.  But, she was definitely a ‘no-show’.

“Thank you! I would like to thank Ellen for all the personal inspiration and the cookies — bakes a hell of a cookie,” Timberlake, said of Ellen DeGeneres, who he sat next to. “No, I’d like to thank my parents for continuing to instill in me that no dream is too big. I’d like to thank all the fans who voted. I’ll take it — people’s champ, I love it,” he continued. “And I’d like to thank my beautiful wife for teaching me patience and the little things like just putting the dishes in the dish washer. It goes a long way — fellas, you’re welcome!”

While this could be just an innocent absence, this isn’t the first time Timberlake has showed up to an award show event alone. This is actually the second time in a row that he’s had to fly solo, because Biel didn’t attend the American Music Awards in November as well.

However, US Magazine also reported back in November that the 31-year-old actress did explain the ‘missing in action’ moment on Twitter.

Although her excuse was quite evasive, it was an excuse. But, Hollywood Gossip shares alleged details of about their marriage from a different perspective. Its also been said that the two can’t come to amicable terms with certain aspects of their marriage, and inward opposition is beginning to show on the outside.

OK! Magazine reports that a source close to the couple was able to sum up their opposing views with a brief statement. “Before they wed, Justin promised Jessica they’d try for a baby,” the insider alleged, “but then he decided to put his energy into touring instead. Jessica can read between the lines … she feels like a widow, and one of her closest pals has said she was the ‘loneliest housewife in Hollywood.”

Could this be the real reason for Biel’s ‘no-show’ moments? Only time will tell.

  • Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev Win Peoples Choice

Ian Somerhalder and costar Nina Dobrev won the Peoples Choice Award for “favorite on-screen chemistry” at the Peoples Choice Awards on Wednesday–despite the fact that they broke up in real life back in May. The two star opposite each other on the CW’s hit TV show The Vampire Diaries, as Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert. What followed was a rather witty and very clever banter.

“Thank you, wow, this is crazy,” said Somerhalder said upon receiving the award. “Can you believe that this is almost five years in the making?”

“You’re right, yeah,” Nina Dobrev replied. “But you know, I think what’s crazier though Ian, is at the beginning of the show is Elena actually hated Damon.”

“You were hooking up with my brother [Stefan, played by Paul Wesley],” Ina Somerhalder reminded her.

“Well, you killed my brother,” she reminded him.

“Then eventually she fell in love with me,” he said.

“And then we started dating on the show,” she said.

“Then we started dating in real life,” Somerhalder said.

“And then we broke up in real life,” she added.

“And yet our characters are still dating on the show,” he reminded her.

“It’s a good thing it’s not awkward,” Dobrev said, laughing rather nervously.

After the two glanced at one another sideways, Ian Somerhalder gave Nina Dobrev a kiss on the cheek, once again thanked the audience and all the fans who voted for them, and both of them exited the stage.

Do you think this was planned? Were Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev warned ahead of time that they had won this award and that they really needed to make an awkward situation into a funny one? Who knows? The two reportedly work together well on the show and have remained friendly outside of work as well. Somerhalder even tweeted happy birthday wishes to Nina later that same evening for her Thursday birthday.

Whether the thank you speech was scripted or not, Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev pulled it off flawlessly. Maybe at next year’s Peoples Choice Awards they’ll be given an award for the best and most awkward acceptance speech.

  • Anna Faris: No One Can Agree On Her Outfit

Anna Faris is earning headlines today after her bold choice of outfit at the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday night, but no one can agree whether the choice was a good one or a bad one.

The “Mom” star chose a sparkly pantsuit that left pretty much everything to the imagination, unlike most of her peers who chose conventional dresses for the red carpet event. The outfit was in stark contrast to the one she wore at last year’s Emmy Awards, a bright yellow floor-length gown with a lizard brooch clasping the back closed. While this year’s ensemble received praise from many, it also landed her on the Worst Dressed List at the New Jersey Star Ledger.

“The usually delightful Anna Faris showed up in a washed-out beaded pantsuit last spotted on Rue McClanahan on an early episode of Golden Girls,” Vicki Hyman wrote.

Others, however, felt the pantsuit was chic and lovely on the actress, who kept the rest of her look simple with a sleek ponytail and understated makeup.

  • Emily Deschanel, David Boreanz Return This Week

Emily Deschanel and David Boreanz will return to fans this week for the winter season and are showing up in a cheeky new ad captioned “Total headcases”.

The duo will be investigating the Ghost Killer this season after Brennan starts having odd dreams about Pelant (played by Andrew Leeds), and may find that the murderer is connected to another case they’re working on. The storyline will likely be tense as Brennan digs deeper into the case.

“Brennan is the type of person who is not going to forget the words of warning that were given to her by Pelant,” executive producer Stephen Nathan said. “We will see that surface in a way that concerns Booth and the other people at the lab and is something they’re all going to have to contend with, seeing how immersed and overwhelmed Brennan is by the idea of this new serial killer.”

The actress wowed at the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday night, both on stage and on the red carpet; after being tasked with a game by E! hosts, Deschanel correctly placed several paper bones onto Tim Gunn’s body, including a humerus, a clavicle, a sternum and a zygomatic bone.

  • Kat Dennings Co-Hosts Peoples Choice Awards

Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs–costars of the hit TV show 2 Broke Girls, co-hosted the Peoples Choice Awards on Wednesday night, and were quite a hit. The pair was a far cry better than when Anne Hathaway and James Franco hosted–and made really bad attempts at humor–back in 2011.

“She’s the Hathaway, I’m the Franco,” Dennings joked at the beginning of the show. She and Behrs then rehashed their TV personas as waitresses, and took orders from fellow performers like Ian Somerhalder, Arsenio Hall. Christina Aguilera and more.

One of the funnier points in the evening came when Beth Behrs sang–or at least tried singing. She covered songs like Miley Cyrus’s Wrecking Ball, much to the dismay of Kat Dennings, and people tweeting critiques. Denning read some of those critiques live on the air.

Behrs shared a photo via Instagram of her with her friends–including Dennings–following her musical humiliation and hilarity on the show.

On Tuesday, Dennings was definitely anticipating her co-hosting gig.

Following the Peoples Choice Awards, Kat seemed a bit relieved that everything went so well, and obviously had a great time. It’s seems she may have been hungry, too.

Did you catch Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs on the Peoples Choice Awards on Wednesday night? How do you think they ranked on the humor scale?

  • Nina Dobrev Celebrates 25th Birthday

While many people may have a quarter-life crisis when they turn 25, Nina Dobrev celebrated with an award win and some of her famous friends.

The star of The Vampire Diaries turned 25 on Wednesday, January 9, just a day after she won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite On-Screen Chemistry with co-star and on-again, off-again boyfriend Ian Somerhalder.

Not long after the awards show was over, the actress rang in her birthday at midnight with Somerhalder, friend Julianne Hough, as well as The Vampire Diaries writer Kevin Williamson.

Dobrev has already received many “Happy Birthday” wishes from celebrity friends and fans alike.

Somerhalder and Dobrev didn’t simply accept their award for Best On-Screen Chemistry. The pair came prepared, joking about their breakup during their acceptance speech.

After discussing the relationship between their characters over the span of five years, Somerhalder brought up the elephant in the room – the couple’s relationship (or lack thereof) status. The two started dating in real life, only to finally call it quits after three years of dating in May 2013.

“Then we broke up in real life,” said Dobrev.

“And yet our characters are still dating on the show,” said Somerhalder.

“It’s a good thing it’s not awkward,” added Dobrev with a nervous laugh.

You can watch their exchange in the video below.

  • Netflix’s ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Wins People’s Choice Award

Another award has been given to a a Netflix original series. The People’s Choice Award winners were revealed on Wednesday, and Orange is the New Black took the Favorite Streaming Series category.

It was likely that a Netflix show was going to win this category anyway, because three out of five of the nominations were Netflix originals (the other two being House of Cards and Arrested Development). Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifianakis and Losing It With John Stamos were also nominated.

It is noteworthy that OITNB won out over these other titles, as House of Cards has won three Emmys, and Arrested Development (which was also Emmy-nominated) had a built in fan base long before Netflix ever got ahold of it.

Orange is the New Black was released too late to be considered for the Emmys in 2013, but don’t be surprised to see it make more than one appearance in 2014.

When Netflix released its quarterly earnings report in October, it revealed that OITNB was its most successful show.

  • Beth Behrs, Kat Dennings Talk Hosting People’s Choice Awards

This year’s People’s Choice Awards should be quite interesting since 2 Broke Girls stars Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings will be hosting.

Viewers can only imagine what can come from these two but, one thing’s for sure – it will definitely be entertaining and quite comical.

The dynamic duo has actually already started with the comedic antics, sharing their Guide to Surviving People’s Choice Hosting Duties.

Behrs and Dennings sat down with People Magazine to share some quick details about the highly anticipated awards show. They shared their sentiments about hosting the upcoming show.

“I don’t know how I feel,” said Dennings.

“I’m excited. I’m a little scared. I’ve presented with Beth at awards shows, but we’ve never hosted. Michael Patrick King is writing all of our stuff for the actual awards show and he’s such a brilliant mind. He gave us a little taste of some of the stuff we’re going to be doing. He’s so funny.”

Behrs also weighed in agreeing with Dennings. “I feel the same way. I feel like it’s a little different because it’s me and Kat up there, as opposed to a character. It’s a whole different kind of thing. You can’t hide behind someone else. At least we have each other, or else I’d be way more nervous.”

    (image)

Then, came their comedic Guide to Surviving People’s Choice Hosting Duties. While some of the rules on their list should be a given, it obviously isn’t for Behrs and Dennings. But it’s quite hilarious to envision!

The top rule on the list was, “Don’t throw up on stage,” Dennings said. She went on to explain that they would probably opt not to ‘throw their celebrity peers under the bus,’ as most hosts do during comedic segments on award shows.

“I don’t want to make fun of anybody,” Dennings says. “I think being our first time hosting, we’re going to be pretty tame and making fun of ourselves more than other people.”

They also stated that they sought insight from two seasoned BFFs who are quite experienced with hosting. Although Behrs sited that meditating was important for calming her nerves, one of their most important rules was actually ‘eating.’ “I feel like we have to eat, otherwise we’ll pass out,” Behrs says. “If I have low blood sugar, I won’t be able to be funny.” Dennings also chimed in. “You have to eat. It’s almost like being an athlete. If you have nothing in your system, you’re just going to start slowly crashing and burning.”

While they are quite nervous about hosting, they did shed light on the silver lining in it all. They’ll ultimately have each other. “Our [bond] has just gotten [closer] as we’ve gone on with the show,” Behrs says. “I couldn’t live without that girl. I had the flu on set and I could not have gotten through it without her. She protects me.”

Dennings also agreed. “When you spend every day for years with somebody, it’s hard to not be like family. Like when Beth was sick, I was ready to punch anyone who came near her.”

The People’s Choice Awards is scheduled to air on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 9:00 p.m. ET on CBS.

  • Ariana Grande American Music Awards Performance Earns High Praise

Ariana Grande might have been the woman of the night at the 2013 American Music Awards last night.

Grande followed One Direction onto stage at the Nokia Theatre Sunday night to perform selections from her Yours Truly album. She started with a very short a cappella taste of “Baby I” then led immediately into “Tattooed Heart.” The performance was stripped down and minimalist, effectively showcasing Grande’s extraordinary voice.

The performance earned her enthusiastic praise from the audience, including standing ovations from Lady Gaga and Ciara.

Grande’s dress garnered nearly as much attention as her performance itself. The simple, curve-hugging strapless red sequined Dolce and Gabbana gown earned a few Jessica Rabbit references.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPWr2U6VXxQ

Grande topped off her night by nabbing the coveted New Artist of the Year Award. Other nominees for the award included Florida Georgia Line, Imagine Dragons, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, and Phillip Phillips.

She pulled her acceptance speech out of her bodice, explaining that her mother had written the script: “My mom made me this thing and I have it in here so that I don’t forget anybody.”

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p73YCgWB9VQ

Grande gushed to fans on Twitter:

Grande’s fans celebrated with her via Twitter, and are rallying around the performer now in hopes that she’ll win the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Breakout Artist.

  • Netflix Shows Compete For People’s Choice Award

The 2014 People’s Choice Awards nominees are out now, and that includes the five nominees for the Favorite Streaming Series category.

Believe it or not, Netflix has a presence here (I know, hard to believe considering its shows already garnered fourteen Emmy nominations and three wins). Hemlock Grove isn’t present this time, but Arrested Development, House of Cards and Orange is the New Black are competing against one another for the prize, along with Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifianakis and Losing It With John Stamos.

Common thinking is that OITNB would have been nominated for some Emmys if it were released in time, and is largely expected to have a presence at next year’s awards, so it’s no surprise to see it nominated for a PCA.

As far as these awards go, the streaming category should only get more interesting in years to come as more players offer more high quality streaming content (look for titles from Amazon and Hulu, for example, not to mention a whole lot more from Netflix).

You can see all the nominees across categories and cast your votes for the 2014 People’s Choice Awards here.
