  • “Penthouse” Magazine Stops Publication After 50 Years, Goes to Digital Format Only

Penthouse magazine, typically known as the raunchier rival of Playboy, is ceasing its print publication after 50 years, and will be available in digital format only. This comes just months after Playboy announced it would no longer feature nude photos within its pages, beginning with its March 2016 issue.

The Wall Street Journal reports that adult publications like Penthouse magazine and Playboy have taken huge hits in recent years since adult content is easily found online–and often for free.

Penthouse magazine once sold over five million copies. Business waned after founder Bob Guccione filed for bankruptcy in 2004 and eventually lost control of the company. Now operated by FriendFinder Networks, they, too, declared bankruptcy in 2013.

Penthouse magazine will close its New York offices and move to FriendFinder Networks offices in L.A.

The publisher issued a statement regarding these big changes for Penthouse magazine.

“Reimagined for the preferred consumption of content today by consumers, the digital version of Penthouse Magazine will combine and convert everything readers know and love about the print magazine experience to the power of a digital experience,” the statement reads.

“This move will keep Penthouse magazine competitive in the future and will seamlessly combine our unmatched pictorial features and editorial content with our video and broadcast offerings,” CEO Jonathan Buckheit added.

It shouldn’t come as a big surprise that Penthouse magazine sales have fallen drastically and mandate this kind of business move. The internet makes a wealth of porn available at reader’s fingertips.

  • Miss Georgia, Betty Cantrell, Crowned Miss America After Answering ‘Deflategate’ Question

Miss Georgia, Betty Cantrell, was crowned Miss America on Sunday night, but not before she was asked a question about the recent New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s recent debacle–better known as “Deflategate.”

Before receiving her crown, Miss Georgia not only contended with the “Deflategate” issue, she also watched the pageant apologize to Vanessa Williams. Williams was the first black woman crowned as Miss America back in 1984. The pageant took back the crown and stripped her of her title after pictures of her surfaced in Penthouse magazine.

Vanessa Williams was one of the Miss America pageant judges this weekend who was responsible for awarding the top prize to Miss Georgia.

Unfortunately, Betty Cantrell didn’t win any fans from the New England area with the way she answered the “Deflategate” question.

She was asked whether New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady cheated en route to his team’s run to a Super Bowl title last season by using footballs that were improperly deflated.

“I’m not sure,” Miss Georgia said when asked if Brady cheated.

“I’d have to see the ball and feel it” she said, before adding, “If there’s any question, then yes, he cheated.”

Hopefully Miss Georgia–the newly-crowned Miss America–doesn’t make too many trips to Massachusetts while enjoying her reign.

Has a Miss America winner ever been booed or had tomatoes thrown at her before? Miss Georgia could be the first.

Miss Georgia’s win signified the end of a run for Miss New York contestants in the pageant. Last year’s Miss America, Kira Kazantsev, was the third consecutive winner from New York.

Did you watch the Miss America Pageant on Sunday night?

Were you excited to see Miss Georgia win the crown, or did you have another state in mind for the win instead?

Kelly Ripa Sells Penthouse For $20 Million

Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos have finally sold their lavish SoHo penthouse.

While they did not get their asking price of $24.5 million, they did receive a whopping $20 million for their Manhattan pad located at 76 Crosby Street.

The buyer is one of the top real estate agents in New York City Alex Adjmi, who owns several large retail properties.

According to the Daily News, Adjimi was represented by brokers Vanessa Tawil and Lorette Zoitos of the Corcoran Group, who said that he wanted to purchase the property as an investment to generate rental income.

The Live! With Kelly and Michael host and Consuelos put their 6,792 square-foot home on the market last January after spending the previous two years renovating. The home includes five-bedrooms and four-bathrooms, and features white oak floors, and an outdoor fireplace, shower and hot tub on the 2500 square-foot rooftop terrace.

According to Zillow.com, the master bedroom has been described as the “ultimate retreat, with two walk-in closets, soaking tub and steam shower.”

The couple purchased the home together in 2005 for $9.5 million.

Ripa, who signed a five-year contract with the morning show in 2011, and her hubby also own another home in Southampton, New York.
