  • Payday 2 Developers Walk Us Through The Perfect Heist

Payday 2’s August 13 is quickly approaching, and would be bank robbers are preparing for the biggest heist of their lives. Before they head out, however, they may want to see how the pros do it.

In a new trailer released today, the folks at Overkill Software walk us through 8 minutes of a heist. Previous trailers have focused on only one gameplay element, but they all come together here in a look at the new and improved gameplay of Payday 2.

In the walkthrough, it’s shown that players will have to pay attention to much more than just their equipment loadout in Payday 2. Players will also have to impersonate guards, disable cameras and prevent civilians from calling the police. Interestingly enough, players have full control over how much money they take, and they can even loot every lock box in the safe.

Payday 2 launches August 13 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

  • Every Heist Will Be Unique In Payday 2

Every Heist Will Be Unique In Payday 2

Payday 2 is already looking pretty good, but every little tidbit dropped by the developers at Overkill Software shows that they’re going way beyond the call of duty to make this one of the best shooters of the year.

In the latest trailer, Payday 2 director David Goldfarb discusses how they’re going to keep the game fresh so players will return to it time and time again. The key to this is called dynamics, and Goldfarb says that a level will be different every time you play it.

For example, he says that you may see a security guard in an alley on one mission. That same alley in the next mission may then feature two guards, or perhaps no guard but a witness that will call the police if they see you wielding a rifle. He says that players may also find that previously open doors will be closed upon subsequent playthroughs, or that the position of cameras will have been changed.

Another addition to the game this time around is the Escape section of the heist that will see players being transported to a different level, and be given an entirely different objective. In the above video, Goldfarb gives the example of players being trapped in a parking structure while defending their stolen loot from the police.

Payday 2 will be available on August 13 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

  • Payday 2 Gets A Customizable Safehouse

Payday 2 Gets A Customizable Safehouse

Any self-respecting criminal needs a safehouse that reflects their sense of style and personality. That’s why Payday 2 is giving would be bank robbers their very own fully customizable safehouse.

In a new trailer released today, Payday 2 game director David Goldfarb talks about the importance of the safehouse to the overall game experience. The safehouse’s primary function is to serve as a training ground for new and old players alike as they can try out all the tools and weapons found in the main game without the pressure of being on an actual heist.

Perhaps more importantly though, the safehouse also serves as a manifestation of the player’s personality. They can use the money stolen during heists to upgrade the safehouse with various items to make it uniquely theirs. The safehouse will also store all the money that you’ve stolen thus far in a realistic way. I would hope they let you swim in it Scrooge McDuck-style, but that might be asking for too much.

Payday 2 launches on August 13 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. It launches August 27 for the PC on Steam.

  • Here’s Everything You Need To Know About Payday 2

What is Payday 2? Is it getting paid for two weeks in a row for a job well done? Or is it just two delicious candy bars? While both of those sound nice, it can really only be one thing – the upcoming co-op bank robbery shooter from Overkill Studios.

To learn all about Payday 2, watch this video of game director David Goldfarb walking players through what sets the Payday game and universe apart from pretty much every other shooter out there.

Goldfarb reveals that Payday 2 will be much of an RPG this time around as players will be able to customize everything about their robber while gaining skills in four different professions. He also says that players will be able to approach every mission with stealth or all-out action in mind.

Payday 2 will be out on August 13 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

  • Payday 2 Gets A Web Series Ahead Of Its Release

Payday: The Heist was one of the more interesting games to come out in recent years. It took the concept of cops and robbers to a new level by pitting teams against each other with one trying to coordinate a successful bank heist while the other attempted to take them down. Now the popular game is getting a sequel, and its publisher is funding a live action Web series.

Payday 2 publisher 505 Games hired Demian Lichtenstein, director of 3000 Miles to Graceland, to bring the Payday world to life. He had this to say about the production:

“The Payday web series has been a solid and very close collaboration between all parties involved. I have never experienced such a high level of commitment to excellence from Payday creators Bo and Ulf Andersson, to the rock-solid input of game director David Goldfarb, and the combined efforts of the powerhouse global teams at 505 Games, Starbreeze, Overkill, Solaris, Equilibrium and Lightstone. Simply said, this is the best experience of my career.”

So far, there are only two episodes, but 505 Games will release a new episode every two weeks until the game launches.

Payday 2 will be out on August 13 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

  • Left 4 Dead Started With A Heist

Valve’s Left 4 Dead franchise is one of the most popular in gaming and for good reason. It made the zombie genre fun again by pushing the focus on co-op survival (or betrayal) while complimenting the normal zombies with unique infections. The Left 4 Dead comics have gone a long way to fleshing out the story, but what caused it all?

A recent trailer from the guys who made Payday: The Heist shows a wonderful what-if scenario where the robbers from the aforementioned game try to pull a heist at the hospital from No Mercy. All the assets except for the environment come from Payday, but it’s still a super slick trailer. It’s been confirmed that the guys behind Payday, Overkill Studios, were collaborating with Valve on a game and many saw this as that game.

Unfortunately, the trailer is not indicative of any Left 4 Dead prequel or anything like that. In a statement to Kotaku, Chet Faliszek said the trailer is the result of some “over-excited marketing guys.” The trailer is not meant to be canon or anything, but it does contain some cameos and easter eggs from Left 4 Dead for fans to find. It might not be canon, but part of me really wishes it was. Just imagine having to pull off a bank heist in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. It would be absolute chaos and a blast.
