  • Grey’s Anatomy: Patrick Dempsey Talks Dr. Shepherd, Shonda Rhimes

Does Patrick Dempsey think Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes killed off his character, Dr. Derek Shepherd, because she didn’t like him?

    If so, he’s not saying.

You might recall that Rhimes was recently asked about this very thing. Appearing on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, Rhimes was asked if she had ever killed off a character because she didn’t like the actor portraying said character.

Her response was ” “Yes. And I’m not naming names.”

So, just who was she talking about? Could it have been Patrick Dempsey?

If Dempsey thinks so, he’s not letting on. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dempsey had nothing but praise for the woman behind Grey’s Anatomy.

Here’s what he had to say when asked about whether or not Rhimes killed McDreamy because of him:

“I think she loves being provocative and that’s fine for who she is. That gets people talking about all the stuff that she’s doing. She’s an amazing woman who is incredibly productive. She’s promoting a book. She’s promoting three shows. And she’s emerging as the star of all of these things. I think she knows how to deal with the media and what she needs to say to get the response that she’s looking for. She’s very savvy.”

Dempsey, who is set to star in the upcoming Bridget Jones’s Baby, also said he expected the strong reaction from the Grey’s Anatomy fanbase when Dr. Shepherd met his end.

“I knew it would be heavy like that. I didn’t realize until we did our interview that it was really over. It started to dawn on me that this is coming to an end, which is why I think I was so moved by it. It was the first time I really stepped back and was starting to witness and to reflect on what had happened. That was the first time I was really saying goodbye to [Derek]. And I wasn’t at all surprised with how people reacted.”

It’s ok. You can always see Dr. Shepherd in old episodes on Netflix.

  • Shonda Rhimes of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Explains Why She Killed Off McDreamy

Shonda Rhimes of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Explains Why She Killed Off McDreamy

Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Grey’s Anatomy, broke her silence on Tuesday about her decision to kill off Patrick Demsey’s character, Derek Shepherd, saying it was the only way to preserve Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek’s love.

“What were the options? Either Der was going to walk out on Mer and leave her high and dry, and what was that going to mean?” Rhimes said as part of a panel at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. “That would suggest the love wasn’t true, the thing we had said for 11 years was a lie.”

With the decision that Patrick Dempsey needed to leave the show, Shonda Rhimes said the most logical way for McDreamy to leave Meredith was through death.

“Meredith and Derek’s love had to remain Meredith and Derek’s love,” said Rhimes. “As painful as it was for me as a storyteller, the only way to preserve what felt true to me was Derek was going to have to die for that love to remain honest. I really couldn’t have the idea that he turned out to be a bad guy who walked out on his wife and his kids, [and have that turn] out to be a true story. To me, that was the only way to make Meredith and Derek’s magic remain true and remain frozen in time.”

Looking forward to the upcoming Season 12, Rhimes said Meredith’s future as a single mother will offer many new opportunities the character never dreamed of.

“We do have this world in which Meredith is single, and she is living this life that she hadn’t thought she was going to be living again,” said Shonda Rhimes.

Meredith finds herself living in a house with her sister “surrounded by women who are dating and having a whole life and she’s not interested in any of that. … You start to wonder if there’s a second life … or are those years behind you?”
The Season 12 theme is “rebirth,” Rhimes spilled.

Ellen Pompeo said she is excited to portray Meredith in this new chapter of her life as a widow.

“It is just a very important human story to tell. So many people lose their spouses. A lot of people feel like they can’t get up again,” said Pompeo. “If we give anybody, even one person, a little bit of comfort, that’s a story worth telling.”

Grey’s Anatomy returns to ABC on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m. ET.

  • Amanda Peterson Remembered by Mother and ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ Co-Star Patrick Dempsey

Amanda Peterson was found dead in her Greeley, Colorado apartment on Sunday. She was just 43 years old. The medical examiner says the actress died some time on Friday.

The Can’t Buy Me Love actress starred alongside Patrick Dempsey in the 1987 film. Dempsey paid tribute to her via Twitter on Tuesday.

Amanda Peterson’s mom last spent the day with her daughter last Wednesday–just four days before her body was discovered. The two spent the day gardening.

“Amanda was in very good spirits,” Peterson’s mother, Sylvia, said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Sylvia also told ET that Amanda Peterson had a drug problem years ago, but had been clean and sober for years.

“This was not, in any way, a drug thing,” she added.

Amanda Peterson got her start in the film world back in 1982 in an adaptation of Annie. She was just nine years old.

In her Can’t Buy Me Love role, Peterson played cheerleader Cindy Mancini. Patrick Dempsey’s character paid her to pretend to be his girlfriend.

The investigation into Amanda Peterson’s death is ongoing. No other information has been released.

In addition to Patrick Dempsey paying tribute to Amanda Peterson, other Hollywood stars shared their thoughts about the actress, too.

Amanda Peterson is survived by two children who lived with their father.

  • Katherine Heigl Can’t Imagine “Grey’s Anatomy” Without McDreamy

Katherine Heigl had the same reaction that the rest of the world had when the Grey’s Anatomy team killed off Patrick Dempsey’s character, Derek Shepherd.

It’s funny to think that Katherine Heigl, who was on Grey’s for six seasons, didn’t see it coming.

But, Katherine Heigl was just as shocked as the rest of us when McDreamy died.

Katherine Heigl said, “I just can’t even imagine the show without McDreamy. I just can’t! It’s so hard to picture.”

And fans could say a collective, “I know, right?!”, if fans could say anything collectively.

Katherine Heigl was also shuffled off the cast of Grey’s Anatomy, but not as a beloved fan favorite.

It takes an army to pull me together! @davidbabaii and Miss Debra I love you! I really really do! #HopeGala

A photo posted by Katherine Heigl (@katherineheigl) on

Instead, Katherine Heigl was unceremoniously written off after being vocal with her displeasure concerning the material on the show. She even memorably had her name removed from the Emmy ballot because she didn’t think she was “given the material … to warrant a nomination.”

Despite the apparent discontent between Katherine Heigl and the Grey‘s team, and the fact that her career hasn’t ever fully recovered, she wishes them nothing but the best.

Katherine Heigl said, “[It] was just an incredible experience for me. It changed the course of my life and career and I couldn’t be more grateful.”

She added, “I just hope it goes for as long as they all want it to.”

However, that doesn’t mean Katherine Heigl will be coming back to the operating table. Although there were rumors to the contrary recenty, she says there’s no chance.

What do you think? Are you still holding out hope that Katherine Heigl could return to Grey’s Anatomy?

  • Katherine Heigl Talks ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Sans Patrick Dempsey’s McDreamy, Might She Return to the Show?

Katherine Heigl was as shocked by Patrick Dempsey’s exit from Grey’s Anatomy as the show’s fans. During a recent interview–while promoting her new film, Jackie & Ryan, Heigl said she can’t imagine Grey’s Anatomy without McDreamy as one of the main characters.

“I just can’t even imagine the show without McDreamy,” she said. “I just can’t! It’s so hard to picture.”

Patrick Dempsey’s character Derek Shepherd made his exit in April when he was suddenly killed off. Katherine Heigl–who long played the role of Dr. Izzie Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy–was written off the show following some very high-profile complaints she made in the media about both the show and her role.

A rumor says Katherine Heigl could return to Seattle Grace in a season 12 episode. Might there be any truth to that? After all, her NBC show, State of Affairs, in which she played CIA analyst Charleston Tucker, was cancelled.

“There’s not. I’m sorry,” she said.

What about returning sometime later in the future?

“I think that’s–I don’t know how to answer that,” Katherine Heigl said, laughing.

Does it seem like her attitude about the show and the material she was given for her character hasn’t changed?

Even if that is the case, she had good things to say about Grey’s Anatomy while promoting her new indie film.

“[It] was just an incredible experience for me. It changed the course of my life and career and I couldn’t be more grateful,” Katherine Heigl said of her six years on the show. “I just hope it goes for as long as they all want it to.

What’s your take on Katherine Heigl making a one or two-episode return to Grey’s Anatomy?

Fans can check out Katherine Heigl in Jackie & Ryan when her film hits both theaters and VOD on July 3rd.

Starring in an upcoming CBS series called Supergirl, Chyler Leigh has a theory about where McDreamy is–as well as Lexie and McSteamy–Marc Sloan, who was played by Eric Dane.

“He’s just sitting at the bar up there–he’s chilling,” she said about McDreamy, when asked how he was doing in ‘Grey’s Heaven.’ She added that Lexie and McSteamy were doing quite well up un ‘Grey’s Heaven,’ too.

Did she know the Grey’s producers were about to kill off Patrick Dempsey’s character?

“I had no idea,” Chyler Leigh says.

What’s your take on Chyler Leigh’s take on the dearly departed characters from Grey’s Anatomy?

The death of Patrick Dempsey’s character has prompted Ellen Pompeo to dedicate her future performances on Grey’s Anatomy to grieving people all around the world. That’s how she hopes to make sense of her ongoing Meredith Grey storyline in Dempsey’s absence.

Did you catch the season 11 finale of Grey’s Anatomy that aired on Thursday night?

Ellen Pompeo has spoken out this week about Patrick Dempsey’s shocking exit from Grey’s Anatomy that still has diehard fans reeling. She hopes to continue her Meredith Grey story line as an inspiration to men and women who are dealing with the loss of a loved one.

In fact, Ellen Pompeo is dedicating her future performances to grieving people all over the world.

On Thursday night, Grey’s Anatomy aired a special two-hour episode that featured grief–that of those left behind at Seattle Grace–now, of course called Grey Sloan. Don’t worry–there are no spoilers here, but if you want a fabulous recap without watching the show, Us Weekly has a very comprehensive one.

Ellen Pompeo shared her thoughts about the abrupt Grey’s Anatomy change via Twitter on Monday.

What’s your take on Patrick Dempsey’s exit from the show? Can Ellen Pompeo keep fans intrigued enough to keep watching–even in Dempsey’s absence?

So much change took place in those two hours that a thorough recap or viewing is required in order to understand what’s transpired in Meredith Grey’s world.

Not surprisingly, some reviews of Thursday night’s two-hour episode aren’t positive ones.

Can Ellen Pompeo keep Grey’s Anatomy soaring–or will it simply sink without Patrick Dempsey on board?

  • Kate Gosselin Claims Only Some of Her Children Visit Dad Jon Gosselin

Kate Gosselin claims that only some of her eight children visit their father, Jon Gosselin.

According to a report from E! News, the former Jon and Kate Plus 8 star spoke about her ex-husband recently, and what kind of relationship she and the kids have with him.

“I don’t have one,” the former Celebrity Apprentice star said of her relationship status with Jon Gosselin. “I keep the peace. Some of the kids visit and some don’t. That’s for the best.”

Kate Gosselin claims her children are encouraging her to find love again, however.

“They are encouraging me more and more. I just don’t have a lot of time to be out there to be searching for someone! I would love to date! And I would love for the kids to have that male role model,” she says. What kind of man is the former nurse interested in dating? “He has to be comfortable with the publicity, my eight kids—and all the noise in my house!” she says in an upcoming issue of In Touch.

Kate has been linked in the past to bodyguard Steve Neild as well as wealthy businessman Jeff Prescott. She insists she never dated either man, however.

Kate Gosselin does admit to having a crush on actor Patrick Dempsey, who is single these days.

How do you suppose her eight kids would feel about having another celebrity in the house?

It’s actually rather sad that Kate Gosselin’s kids don’t all visit their father. Do you think she plays a role in that decision? Even though Kate claims she allows the kids to visit Jon when they want, she has never had much positive to say about him ever since their split.

Do you think as the Gosselin children grow a bit older and even more independent they will spend more time with their dad? Sometimes kids feel like they’re supposed to pacify one parent or the other when they live in a family of divorce. Hopefully Kate Gosselin isn’t making any of her children feel they shouldn’t be spending time with their father.

  • Mandy Moore Isn’t The Only Celeb Announcing Divorce

Mandy Moore and her husband of six years, rocker Ryan Adams, announced that they are ending their marriage last week and sent the media into a frenzy trying to understand what went wrong. As celeb couples go, they were fairly quiet about their relationship but seemed to be happy right up until the end. Now, news of their split is being tempered with another divorce announcement weaving its way around the web: Patrick Dempsey and his wife, Jillian, are reportedly going their separate ways as well.

The former Grey’s Anatomy star and his wife released a statement to TMZ saying they had decided to end things and asked for privacy for the sake of their children, but privacy is hard to come by in Hollywood. In fact, Hollywood Life is reporting that the couple never signed a prenup, and that Jillian will more than likely be entitled to half of Dempsey’s fortune.

“It is with careful consideration and mutual respect that we have decided to end our marriage. Our primary concern remains the well-being of our children, and we ask with profound gratitude that you respect our family’s privacy at this very sensitive time,” Dempsey and Jillian said in their joint statement.

Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams had something similar to say in their own statement, asking for privacy as they figure things out. Adams is famous for being close-mouthed about his private life and even reportedly hung up on a reporter for asking one too many questions about Mandy Moore.

“Okay, so I just hung up because I was on the radio getting asked about my wife. I was really nice about it the first time, and I’m sorry, but I won’t repeat myself. The deal is this: I’m a private person and I’ll be a gentleman and say I’m not talking about my marriage ever. I’ll never talk about it. Ever,” he said in a later interview with Buzzfeed. “I’ll talk about rescue cats for a few seconds. But even there I don’t want to talk about my pets. If I have children I’m not going to discuss that with anyone ever. I’ll suggest it once and then I’m going to hang up.”

Mandy Moore hasn’t been active on social media since the announcement was made, but did post a few photos to Instagram last week, including a few old ones of her pre-fame and one of her cat stretching.

  • Billy Joel: The Piano Man is a Good Samaritan

Billy Joel is known for way more than simply being the ‘Piano Man.’ In fact to one New York woman he’s even known for being a good Samaritan. The singer was riding his motorcycle through East Hampton on Monday when he saw a woman who had fallen and was sprawled face-down in the middle of the road. He stopped his bike and came to her aid immediately.

In addition to calling 911 for help, he gathered her packages from the road and stayed with her until EMTs arrived. He stayed while they administered help to be certain she was okay. It’s uncertain why the woman fell–whether she suffered from a medical condition or simply tripped as she crossed the road. However in photos provided by The TODAY Show she appeared to be sitting up and alert as she was being treated by the ambulance crew.

Billy Joel isn’t the only celebrity recently to help out someone in need. In recent years Jennifer Garner brought gasoline to a stranded motorist, Patrick Dempsey freed a teenager who was trapped in a car following an accident, and Ryan Gosling prevented a tourist from being run over by a New York City taxi cab. It’s nice to know that all of these celebrities–including Billy Joel–have a human side in addition to their fame in the entertainment industry.

Billy Joel definitely has what it takes to still live up to his ‘Piano Man’ persona, too, however. With more than 150 million records sold since 1972, the legendary singer was set to take the stage at Boston’s Fenway Park on Thursday evening in front of a huge crowd of fans.

At least if anyone in the crowd at Fenway falls down and can’t get up, they’ll rest easy knowing that a good Samaritan as well as an amazing entertainer is in the venue.

Kudos to Billy Joel for being helpful where some celebrities might have simply called 911 and left the scene for fear of causing a media frenzy.

  • Patrick Dempsey’s Mother Dies After Long Battle With Cancer

After battling multiple recurrences of ovarian cancer since 1997, Amanda Dempsey, the mother of Grey’s Anatomy actor Patrick Dempsey, has passed away. She died on Monday at the age of 79 surrounded by family.

Dempsey and his sisters Mary and Alicia were inspired by their mother and founded the The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing in 2008. They partnered with the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine where their mother had been treated. The Dempsey Center provides “free cancer support, education and integrative medicine services to anyone impacted by cancer, regardless of where treatment is received.”

At the time of the center’s opening, Dempsey said, “For a family to get a cancer diagnosis is devastating, and all the information out there can be overwhelming. So I talked to my sister about a place where people could go for all this type of information and help. Knowledge is power.”

Central Maine Healthcare President and CEO Peter Chalke said, “The entire Central Maine Medical family mourns the passing of Amanda Dempsey.” He continued, “Amanda Dempsey was both a great lady and a determined fighter who displayed tremendous courage, class and grace during her long battle with cancer…We will miss Amanda deeply, but we were all blessed by knowing her and being inspired by her life story.”

Dempsey Center Executive Director Wendy Tardif said, “Amanda’s passing has only made us more resolute in our mission, and we will continue to expand and grow our services and share her legacy with the world. The Dempsey Center’s Healing Garden will be named in Amanda’s Honor, and though physically she is no longer with us, we know she will continue to be a source of quiet strength and unwavering perseverance at the Dempsey Center and Dempsey Challenge. Our hearts are heavy, but they are also full as we realize the thousands of lives Amanda touched.”

Amanda Dempsey led the survivor walk during the Dempsey Challenge weekend for the last five years with her children and grandchildren. The Challenge has raised over $5 million to date to support the Dempsey Center.

Fans of the actor took to Twitter to send their condolences to the Dempsey.

  • Patrick Dempsey: Dr. McDreamy Lives in Tin House

Patrick Dempsey exudes an air of class and sophistication as Dr. McDreamy on Grey’s Anatomy, but in real life he lives in a tin house. For real. Dempsey and his wife, Jillian, and their three children–the couple are Dad and Mom to 12-year-old daughter Talula and 7-year-old twin boys named Darby and Sullivan–live inside an eco-friendly tin home.

The Dempsey home–and Patrick himself–is featured on the cover of the March issue of Architectural Digest, so they certainly aren’t living in squalor–and within its pages McDreamy dishes about his love of “all things automotive.”

“The exterior’s simplicity appealed to me, and the inside felt very expansive and calming. Everywhere you looked there was something visually pleasing,” Dempsey says of the tin house.

Dempsey didn’t have the house built, however, and the previous owners openly dubbed it “The Tin House.” The family has embraced the home’s history and proudly displays its name next to the front door.

Patrick Dempsey says his home is more eco-sustainable than most. That means a lot to him. He has a world wide reputation for his philanthropic dedication. He has worked with a number of organizations to bring affordable clean energy through the use of solar power to people in communities all over the world.

“I have found that natural metal roofs and siding such as zinc or tin offer advantages for sustainable solutions on several levels,” he says of his own home. “This roof and tin siding surfaces are an excellent choice for rainwater collection while also providing an opportunity to integrate concealed solar thermal collectors for water and space heating. Tin and zinc roofs and siding are highly durable and easily recyclable — reducing future impacts on landfills.”

Dempsey paid $7 million for his home–which is in Malibu. It measures approximately 5000 square feet. He has converted an outdoor riding arena into a place where wife Jillian can pursue her interest in organic gardening. The family has a variety of animals who reside at the Dempsey home as well, including a chicken coop, as well as miniature donkeys, rabbits, goats, pigs, and a rescued African tortoise.

Architectural Digest kept their interview with Patrick Dempsey fun–and way more about cars than sustainable living.

It shouldn’t really surprise anyone that Patrick Dempsey lives in a tin house. Despite his Grey’s Anatomy persona those who have met the actor say he is down to earth, humble and devoted to giving back. He lives a life unlike many of his Hollywood peers. He sets a great example for all.

  • Grey’s Anatomy’s Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo Sign Two-Year Contract Deal

At the Television Critics Association press tour, Paul Lee, President of ABC network, announced that Grey’s Anatomy would continue for “many years to come.” He spoke fondly of the show’s executive producer and creator Shonda Rhimes, who he credits for the series’ success.

“[Executive producer] Shonda Rhimes is one of the greatest writers that our generation has seen. She’s continuing to write an immensely powerful show. It makes you laugh and cry every week, and what season are we now? And by the way, to her enormous credit, it is completely different than Scandal. And I love it. I think it’s going to stay on the network for many years to come,” said Lee.

Many fans viewed Lee’s statement as affirmation of Grey’s Anatomy’s impending renewal. To give fans more hope for the show’s future, Ellen Pompeo, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey, and Patrick Dempsey, who portrays Dr. Derek Shepherd, signed new two-year deals. This means Meredith and Derek will be sticking around at least until the end of the 12th season.

In August 2013, Sandra Oh announced her plans to depart the long running drama. Following Oh’s exist statement, fans began to fear that many more actors would soon leave Grey’s Anatomy. Some fans even saw it as a sign that the series’ planned to end after its current 10th season. Pompeo and Dempsey’s contract news does calm some of their fans’ fears. However, until ABC officially renews the series, many fans still worry about Grey’s Anatomy’s future.

There is no word yet on whether Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. will continue on with the series after this season. All three of their contracts expire this year, just as Dempsey and Pompeo’s did before their renewal. Hopefully, the other cast members also sign new contracts that keep them around for at least two more seasons. Grey’s Anatomy fans want to keep them around.

  • Ellen Pompeo Signs New Contract With Grey’s Anatomy

Exciting news for all you Grey’s Anatomy fans! Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey have signed another two-year contract with the network, which means they will appear on, at least, two more seasons as Dr. Meredith Grey and Dr. Derek Shepherd.

Pompeo and Dempsey are two of the few original cast members that currently remain on the show. Since the series premiered in 2005, several main characters have departed including Isaiah Washington (Preston Burke), T.R. Knight, (George O’Malley), Katherine Heigl, (Izzy Stevens), Chyler Leigh (Lexie Grey), and Eric Dane (Mark Sloan), but Pompeo and Dempsey have remained loyal to the show.

The most recent cast member to announce their departure is Sandra Oh, who has played the part of Christina Yang. Oh announced in August that she would end her run on the series after the tenth season. There is currently no word on whether Justin Chambers (Alex Karev), Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey), and James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber) will renew their contracts for the coming seasons.

Katie Couric got a chance to interview Oh, after she announced that she would not be returning to the series, to find out why she chose to leave. “I felt like all the avenues that a character that could possibly be explored,” Oh explained at the time. “I feel like we have done that.” Oh also revealed that it would not be easy to leave the show, considering she has been part of the main cast for nearly ten years. “It makes my heart full and heavy at the same time,” she said. “[There are] so many long-term relationships that I have there. I will be really, really sad.”

While the network hasn’t officially picked up Grey’s Anatomy for an eleventh season, ABC’s Paul Lee believes that the show has many years to come. “[Executive producer] Shonda Rhimes is one of the greatest writers that our generation has seen,” Lee said. “She’s continuing to write an immensely powerful show. It makes you laugh and cry every week, and what season are we now? And by the way, to her enormous credit, it is completely different than Scandal. And I love it. I think it’s going to stay on the network for many years to come.”

Grey’s Anatomy won the 2007 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series, and had multiple Emmy nominations that included two for Outstanding Drama Series.

Grey’s Anatomy will be returning with new episodes on Thursday, February 27, 2014.

  • Neve Campbell Returning To TV With Former Co-Star

Neve Campbell, who rose to fame on the television show “Party Of Five” and went on to find success with Wes Craven’s “Scream” franchise, is about to make a return to TV, and she’s doing it with a former co-star.

Campbell will be playing McDreamy’s sister on “Grey’s Anatomy”–one of four, two of whom have showed up in previous episodes played by Catelina Scorsone and Embeth Davitz–marking the second time she’s worked with Patrick Dempsey. The first job the pair had together was on the set of “Scream 3”.

The actress will appear in two episodes sometime in December, and joins the series at a time of high drama as McDreamy recuperates from a deadly plane crash.

  • Patrick Dempsey Rescue: Actor Helps Car Crash Victim

Fans of Patrick Dempsey have yet another reason to drool fanatically all over the “Grey’s Anatomy” star: Not only is he dashing and talented, he also selflessly rescues those unfortunate individuals who crash their automobiles on his property. I suppose it’s hard to dislike a guy who doesn’t mind putting himself at risk to help others who are in dire need of assistance.

After Weston Massett, 17, flipped and crashed his Mustang next to Dempsey’s house, it was only a matter of time before the heroic actor leapt into action. Armed with a crowbar and lots of determination, the “Can’t By Me Love” alumni rushed to the scene of the accident, prying open the door and pulling Massett to freedom.

The kid’s first reaction was to ask his rescuer, “Are you famous?”

Dempsey’s response to the inquiry: “I’m a doctor”.

However, the actor’s heroics didn’t stop there. While waiting for paramedics to arrive on the scene, Dempsey got Massett’s mother on the phone and kept her calm, cool, and collected for the duration. For added coolness, McDreamy also followed the kid while he was being airlifted to the hospital. Fortunately, Massett didn’t receive any life threatening injuries. What’s more, he has an incredibly cool story to share with all of his family and friends.

Twitter reactions to the actor’s heroisms have been syrupy, sweet, and numerous. Take a look at a few select entries below.

  • RIP Patrick Dempsey Trending on Twitter

It seems someone is always fake dying on the internet. A couple of weeks ago it was Justin Bieber and now the phrase ‘RIP Patrick Dempsey’ is trending on Twitter.

To be clear, the actor is alive and well.

Patrick Dempsey is most known for playing a doctor on the ABC series ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. Some tweets are claiming the rumor started when the Grey’s Anatomy Twitter account was hacked, but only a fake Grey’s Anatomy Twitter account shows any evidence of such a thing. My theory? It’s a brilliant marketing ploy from ABC to promote the return of the show on April 5 after a two-week hiatus. And it’s working.

Let’s start off this Twitter roll with some words from the man himself:
