  • Suzanne Crough, Tracy Partridge of ‘The Partridge Family,’ Dies at 52

Suzanne Crough, best known for her role as little Tracy Partridge on the 1970s hit show The Partridge Family, died on Monday at her home in Nevada. She was 52.

Us Weekly reports that Crough was just seven years old when she first played the part of Tracy Partridge. She was 11 when the show ended. The Partridge Family ran from 1970 to 1974, and also starred Shirley Jones, David Cassidy, Susan Dey, and Danny Bonaduce.

Suzanne Crough appeared in shows including Wonder Woman and Mulligan’s Stew in the years following The Partridge Family.

Several members of The Partridge Family reunited on The Today Show back in March of 2010. At that time, Suzanne Crough explained that she didn’t do much acting following her role as Tracy Partridge.

“I’m an office manager for Office Max,” she told Today co-host Matt Lauer at the time. “I have two daughters, I’m married, I have a normal job.”

No cause of death for Suzanne Crough was announced at the time of her passing. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

Danny Bonaduce, who played the role of Danny Partridge on The Partridge Family, commented via Twitter on Suzanne Crough’s death.

Fans of the popular 1970s show will forever remember Suzanne Crough in her role as Tracy Partridge–tambourine in her hand–as the family made music in venues near and far, traveling in their multi-colored school bus.

How sad that she has left this life so soon.

  • David Cassidy on DWI Guilty Plea: ‘Is This an Election Year?’

David Cassidy, star of the 1970s TV show The Partridge Family, appeared in a Schodack, New York courtroom Wednesday to plead guilty to his felony drunk driving case after copping a plea, which reduced the charge to a misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated.

The former teen heartthrob, who lives in Florida, was not too thrilled when the judge decided to put off sentencing until Nov. 5.

“Your honor, I came here today hoping to get this taken care of and over with,” Cassidy told the judge.

Justice Bruce J. Wagner said the law requires Cassidy undergo an alcohol screening prior to sentencing and told Assistant District Attorney Michael Shanley his office should have asked for a presentencing report.

Cassidy’s attorney, Lucas Mihuta, tried to have the sentencing carried out in the one court appearance, but the judge insisted the screening be carried out before he pass down the sentence.

Cassidy’s deal calls for 50 hours of community service, and the installation of an alcohol locking device on any vehicle used by Cassidy for a year.

The 64-year-old singer has already completed an alcohol treatment program, but in November the judge will decide if he needs more, according to TMZ.

“I’m not pleased how this turned out tonight, but at least I’m not going to prison,” Cassidy said following the court appearance. “Is this an election year? I don’t mean any disrespect. I love this part of New York and have been coming here for years to the track. I admit I was driving drunk, but this was my first offense in New York state; I didn’t hurt anyone or crash my car.”

Cassidy was arrested last year after he was stopped by cops in Schodack, New York, with a blood alcohol level at 0.10, over the legal limit of .08.

This is Cassidy’s third DUI conviction. In March, Cassidy pled no contest to a DUI charge in Los Angeles. He also has a prior DUI conviction in Florida.

  • Shirley Jones Skydives for Her 80th Birthday

Actress Shirley Jones said she will take her first skydive on Monday, her 80th birthday.

“That’s something I wanted to do all my life,” Jones said Friday.

The idea to skydive was inspired by former President George H.W. Bush’s jumps on a number of his birthdays, including when he turned 85 in 2009, Jones said.

“When I saw him do it I thought, ‘Wow, if he can do this, I can,’” Jones said.

The Oscar-winning actress won the award for her role in the 1960 drama, Elmer Gantry. She is also known for her role in TV’s The Partridge Family in the 1970s, which lasted four years. She rose to fame when she starred in the 1950s film versions of the Broadway musicals Carousel and Oklahoma. She also starred in the 1962 film version of The Music Man.

Jones’ family was planning a big celebration for Sunday, the day before her birthday. She said she was looking forward to the party and spending time with her family, which includes 12 grandchildren, and a childhood friend she has known since they were in the third grade together in a small town in Pennsylvania.

Jones was not, however, looking forward to the reason for the celebration.

“I’m not very happy about” turning 80, she said.

“The number scares me to death. I don’t even like to say it. Eighty years old, it can’t be,” Jones said.

Jones chose skydiving from the top of her to-do list, which also includes going on an African safari.

  • David Cassidy Pleads “No Contest” In DUI Case

On Monday, former teen heartthrob David Cassidy plead no contest to a drunk driving incident that occurred during January. The star was originally pulled over by a California Highway Patrol officer for taking an illegal turn at a stoplight near the Los Angeles International Airport; however, the officer then decided to check Cassidy’s blood alcohol level.

The former star of the 1970’s hit television show The Partridge Family was sentenced to serve three months in an alcohol rehabilitation facility. In addition to the rehab stint, Cassidy was also ordered to pay fines, participate in an alcohol education program, and serve five years of probation.

The 63-year-old actor and musician has had a challenging year. Last month it was announced that the star’s wife, Sue Cassidy, had filed for divorce. Ongoing legal proceedings have also taken a toil on Cassidy. According to Jo-Ann Geffen, who is David Cassidy’s manager, the musician was on the path to recovery before the recent onslaught of stressful events.

“David just completed a stint in rehab and was doing very well in sobriety. He was in Los Angeles to attend depositions by Sony Pictures Television, respondents in a lawsuit filed by Cassidy in 2011 over what he claims are monies long due him from Partridge Family merchandise, home video, etc. After attending his and his manager’s depositions, it appears as if the pressure led to a brief relapse,” Geffen said.

David Cassidy recently spoke about his battle with alcoholism. “This has been a very difficult time for me battling this deadly disease, like millions of others in our country. I will remain in treatment for as long as necessary and I am getting the best care I can possibly get anywhere. I am working as hard as any human being to live a sober life. I am truly grateful to all of my friends and fans who have sent me thousands of letters and messages in support,” he said.

  • The Partridge Family Actor Dead – No, Not That One

The Grim Reaper has stepped back in for another trifecta of celebrity deaths. Russell Johnson – the Professor from Gilligan’s Island – is gone. Ruth Duccini, the last surviving female Munchkin from the Wizard of Oz, died. (It was a slow week in the Hereafter.) And now, Fox News is reporting, rounding out the triple play, Dave Madden.

Dave Madden was best known as Reuben Kincaid on The Partridge Family. Kincaid was the gruff but lovable band manager for all 4 seasons of The Partridge Family show.

The Partridge Family starred Broadway superstar Shirley Jones as a mother of 5 children, including her real-life step-son, David Cassidy. David Cassidy himself has sen quite a bit of news coverage lately due to his drunk driving escapades. But he was not the first to meet the Reaper. The series also starred Susan Dey and Danny Bonaduce.

Madden was also a semi-regular on Alice, starring Linda Lavin, as a frequent Mel’s diner patron, Earl Hicks. He did the round of late-70’s shows like Barney Miller, The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and Starsky and Hutch.

But Madden’s start really came on Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In as a regular performer who drank milk and threw confetti. I guess you had to be there.

His Reuben Kincaid character is undoubtedly the role that people will remember him for. The humor of the role came from the fact that he was a band manager for a family band with five kids, but he hated kids.

But Madden was quite the opposite himself. Child co-star Danny Bonaduce, who went on to have a colorful life himself, says he is indebted to Madden for taking him into his own home with his family when Bonaduce’s family was imploding.

Madden was 82 years old, and according to the L.A. Times, died in Jacksonville, Florida in hospice care.

  • David Cassidy Arrested on 3rd DUI Charge

Ah, hearts are breaking once again for 70s teen idol David Cassidy.

The Partridge Family icon was arrested in Los Angeles Friday on his third drunken driving charge.

Cassidy, 63, was pulled over on highway 405 near LAX after making an illegal turn with double the legal limit of alcohol in his system. He was booked in a Los Angeles jail and released on a $15,000 bond several hours later.

“Cassidy was observed making a right turn on a red light, in violation of a black and white regulatory sign indicating, ‘No Right Turn On Red,’” said a California Highway Patrol report.

The officer noticed “the odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from the vehicle” when he approached Cassidy, who was alone in the car, the CHP release said.

Cassidy was arrested for the first time in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2011 and his second DUI occurred in Schodack, New York in August.

Cassidy played the eldest of a family of five musical children on the iconic The Partridge Family. His real-life step-mother, Shirley Jones, played the widowed mother in the show. Millions of David Cassidy fans tuned in to watch the show which featured the family traveling around from gig to gig in a multi-colored bus singing such songs as “I think I love you” and “I’ll meet you Halfway”.

Cassidy launched his own pop music career at the time of the show, filling concert halls with screaming teenage girls.

  • David Cassidy Arrested for Drunk Driving–Again

David Cassidy was arrested back in August as shown in the featured video for drunk driving. He was arrested in L.A. on Friday evening for drunk driving yet again. The 63-year-old singer and former star of The Partridge Family TV show blew a .19–which is twice the legal limit. He was administered an alcohol test by the California Highway Patrol.

“Cassidy was observed making a right turn on a red light, in violation of a black and white regulatory sign indicating, ‘No Right Turn On Red,’” the CHP said.

The incident took place off the 405 Freeway, near the Los Angeles International Airport.

The officer reportedly noticed “the odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from the vehicle” when he approached David Cassidy in his rented Chevy Impala.

Cassidy was in New York when arrested back in August for drunk driving. He is a resident of Florida, and has been arrested for drunk driving there, too. It sounds like the former teen idol–known for hit songs like I Think I Love You–likely has a very serious drinking problem. Maybe a stint on Celebrity Rehab is in the cards?

Hopefully someone close to David Cassidy will step in and insist that the actor and singer get some help before he either kills someone in a drunk driving car accident or seriously harms himself.

  • Danny Bonaduce Attacked By Face-Biter

    Danny Bonaduce Attacked By Face-Biter

After being attacked by a “fan” on Friday night in Washington, former child star Danny Bonaduce says the first thing he thought of was “bath salts”.

Bonaduce was at a casino for an appearance for his Seattle-based morning radio show and says a woman came up to him to ask for a kiss. Before he could oblige, however, she wrapped her arms around him and sank her teeth into his cheek, leaving a large red welt.

“They were tiny little Chucky teeth. Man, they just gnawed like piranhas,” Bonaduce said. “People are trying to pull her off me … I’m screaming like a baby….It was so painful. It was … as if someone wadded up 10 lit cigarettes and stuck them on your face, but they didn’t go out, they just stayed that hot.”

It’s not surprising that Bonaduce’s mind went right to bath salts; after a strange summer filled with stories from all over the country about individuals high on the synthetic drug “bath salts” attacking others with bites and even partial cannibalism, it’s all too easy to imagine an incident like this getting out of control very quickly. Luckily, the woman was pulled away before she could do any more damage.

Bonaduce says he won’t press charges against the woman, because, as he says, she was clearly “truly delusional”.

“I don’t think she had any idea what she did,” he said.
